Divorce is pretty much a common thing, and how things are settled _can_ indeed be unfair (thinking about stupid old millionaires who marries young models, who runs away with 50% of their property at first chance). But it don't have to be.
I'm getting married next year (depending on Covid). I currently have more than 3x more than my spouse (she has very little), we are _(meaning I am)_ saving for an apartment and yes - I'm thinking silently about how I want to deal with this matter, as I _have_ to, regardless how solid our relationship is, and how much we love each other.
I take it in _some_ Islamic states (like Pakistan) the MEHR is by default 'NO', - as something you specifically have to ask for, and something women aren't informed about. Like this woman. My spouse, and _definitely_ this women considering her situation, couldn't care less about money. I wonder why she stayed in UAE for so long, instead of just taking the first flight to the UK in the first place, done deal?
Money is never fun. I'm just damn happy my woman don't 'care' about money, but economy. Secondly, its her side of story, so feminists would force u to buy it or get lost, thirdly she never mentioned that her husband was physically or mentally abusive with her, fourthly the authorities try to do her counselling or tried to keep marriage intact with the good intention, she just didn't want to be bound in a relationship, which is her right but making up a story of being unsafe with her husband and that too in UAE??? really makes no sense at all.

In some countries like Canada justice is not equal.
Part of UAEs very recent reforms include allowing foreign women to divorce according to their own countries law. She should be able to divorce her husband according to British law.

In contrast, we know that scientific belief systems are something that humanity is developing. Many people will still claim divine, supernatural contribution, but they are fewer in number. It was only in the 19th Century where racism was acceptable and specific races claimed superiority. These men believed that their reasoning was rational, logical and flawless. The same is true for our societies and for our time. We are prone to make the *same* mistakes under a *different* title/name. We cannot develop belief systems that is good and most importantly good for all because we are ill equipped. Ill equipped by the virtue that we are not good. We confess that human is to err, and to err is human so nonchalantly and for self serving or preserving purposes.
Allow me to remind you that evidence and data can and are manipulated. When we do so, we use names like marketing, advertising, reaching the target audience, relating to buyers or improving one's life (by goods and/or offered services). We have accepted these manipulations because we see no harm in them. There is no danger, so we believed. However, in the virtual world it is becoming more apparent with the likes of social media, trackers and our gadgets that which we deemed as acceptable manipulation is dangerous.
No man-made belief system can be without danger even those based on evidence and data and science.
If one wants to leave religion there should be now one to disown or harass or threaten them bcoz once faith is compromised then the whole things break from within. Apostates should not be punished in any manner as there should be no compulsion in religions. Whenever we superimpose our ideas into other people they can believe if they want or not and its upto them based on philosophy..!!
Religions need to be of tolerance and universal acceptance and should have philosophy as practical part of religions. We need religion to move towards compassion, empathy, freedom and morality in the society but not otherway around.

I think it’s important to differentiate between divorce in Islam and divorce in the UAE .. in the UK for example the Islamic divorce process is far less invasive than what this lady has described.

This is so fucked up, I had no idea that this was happening in Dubai. How can so many people support that country? From now on I am never supporting or talking to anyone who supports Dubai, my cousin lives there and is married with a child, I never talk to her anyway but from now on I'm just ignoring them completely and her husband if they ever come here to visit, I live in Canada and not a strict family so I don't really have much Islamic influence in my life.

I had a friend who was Pakistani. She married and had a son in Pakistan. She was treated as a slave by her husband and his mother. She had to have help to escape. She wasn’t able to take her son and escape. She tried to legally get her son. The court cut her off and gave the child to her mother in law to raise. She never saw him again.
