Uhh well what’s the context for this? If it’s a sexless marriage because the woman is never in the mood and hates her husband, then yeah he’d probably cheat or divorce her. That’s no way to live, especially for men… I think a lot of women are fine living completely without sex, but for men it appears to be more of a biological need. If it’s a one-time refusal, then cheating right away would be a bit ridiculous… Also, what’s the reason for her refusing sex? If she’s sick, then sex is inappropriate. If it’s just a “not in the mood” thing, then it’s the man’s job to get her in the mood lol. And if she’s never in the mood, why not just have sex out of pity for him? If you love this man, why would you want to see him suffer from withholding sex when it doesn’t cost you anything (I.e. if you’re neutral about sex, not enjoying and not suffering from it)?
I think a lot of women that refuse sex just view it as a chore, whereas men view sex as a need… In that case, well, you decide which one outweighs the other.
It is difficult for me as a seventy-six-year-old atheist to understand just how gullible and naieve some women can be. I was fourteen when I became an atheist after sexual abuse by the holy men between the ages of 12 and 14. 62 years an atheist and I've never looked back. What Deborah said about western Muslim converts is exactly my source of wonder. We become Muslims (God forbid) by study and intense observation. The word uruban is used for the best feminine qualities of the woman in Arabic. This can have two meanings: (1) That they will be of equal age with their husbands. (2) That they will be of equal age among themselves; i.e. all the women in Paradise will be of the same age and will eternally stay young. Both of these meanings may be correct at one and the same time, i.e. these women may be of equal age among themselves and their husbands also may be made of equal age with them. According to a Hadith: When the dwellers of Paradise enter it, their bodies will be without hair, their mustaches will be just appearing, but will yet he beardless, they will be handsome and fair-complexioned, with sturdy bodies and collyrium stained eyes; they will all be 33 years of age. (Musnad Ahmad: Marwiyat Abi Hurairah). It is one thing for you to not be able to comprehend a Muslim's perspective and views but it's truly disheartening to know that you are encouraging people to come out from the folds of Islam through this Ex Muslim Movement group. I've had my fair share of trials in this life but never once did I blame my religion, Islam for what I've been through. These tests that we go through only serve as a purpose to bring us closer to Allaah swt. As a Muslim woman, I truly understand Deborah's struggles, especially since she has not been accustomed to the teachings of Islam but nevertheless, I can truly say this ,that in my darkest days and hours , my only salvation came from Allaah swt . I used to cry in my prayers, asking Allaah swt for guidance and protection against the abuse I was suffering. And with a whole lot of sincere patience, Allaah swt finally answered my du'aas. That being said, I think it is quite normal for Deborah to feel trapped but the sad thing about it is that she felt she had to leave Islam in order to be free again. (QURAN 52: 17-20): "Verily, for those who fear Allah there will be Gardens in Paradise, filled with Delight. Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and the fact that their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. The Lord will say: ‘Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do’. They will recline with ease on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris with wide lovely eyes."

Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you deny? Reclining on green cushions and rich beautiful mattresses. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you deny?"
(QURAN 56:37-40): "...We created the houris and made them virgins, loving companions for those on the right hand…."

Two points need to be noted. First, there is no mention anywhere in the Quran of the actual number of virgins available in paradise, and second, the dark-eyed damsels are available for all Muslims, not just martyrs.

The word fakiha of the text means: This fruit will neither be seasonal that its supply may fail when the season is over, nor its production will cease as it happens in a garden after its fruits has been picked. But in Paradise every kind of fruit will remain available in abundance in every season and will continue to be produced and supplied no matter how much of it is consumed. And la mamnuah means that there will be no prohibition or hindrance in obtaining fruit as it is in the gardens of the world, nor will it be out of reach because of thorns or height.
لَّا مَقۡطُوۡعَةٍ وَّلَا مَمۡنُوۡعَةٍۙ
(56:33) never-ending and unforbidden.
وَّ فُرُشٍ مَّرۡفُوۡعَةٍؕ
(56:34) They shall be on upraised couches
اِنَّاۤ اَنۡشَاۡنٰهُنَّ اِنۡشَآءًۙ
(56:35) and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh
فَجَعَلۡنٰهُنَّ اَبۡكَارًاۙ

1. This signifies the virtuous women of the world, who will enter Paradise on the basis of their faith and good works.
Allah will make them young no matter how aged they might have died in the world; will make them beautiful whether or not they were beautiful in the world; and will make them virgins whether they died virgins in the world or after bearing children. If their husbands also entered Paradise with them, they would be joined with them. Otherwise, Allah will wed them to another dweller in Paradise. This very explanation of this verse has been reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) in several Ahadith.
• According to Shama ile Tirmidhi, an old woman requested the Prophet (peace be upon him) to pray for her admission to Paradise.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: No old woman will enter Paradise. Hearing this the woman went back crying. Thereupon the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to the people: Tell her that she will not enter Paradise as an old woman, for Allah says: We shall create them anew and make them virgins.
Ibn Abi Hatim has related, on the authority of Salamah bin Yazid, that he heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) explain this verse, thus:
This implies the women of the world; whether they died virgins or married. Tabarani contains a lengthy tradition related from Umm Salamah according to which she asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) the meaning of the several references in the Quran to the women of Paradise.
In answer, he explained this very verse and said: These are the women who died as aged and decayed women, with sticky eyes and gray hair; after this old age
Allah will again make them young and virgins.
Umm Salamah asked: If a woman had several husbands in the world, one after the other, to whom will she belong in Paradise? The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: She will he asked to make her own choice, and she will choose the one who had the best moral character. She will say: O my Lord, make me his wife, for he was the best in his conduct and dealings with me.
O Umm Salamah, good moral conduct has carried off all the good of this world and the Hereafter. (For further explanation, see (E.N. 51 of Surah Ar-Rahman).
عُرُبًا اَتۡرَابًاۙ
(56:37) intensely loving18 and of matching age.19
18. The word uruban is used for the best feminine qualities of the woman in Arabic. This signifies a woman who is graceful and elegant, well-mannered and eloquent, and brimful of feminine feelings, who loves her husband with all her heart, and whose husband also loves her with all his heart.
19. This can have two meanings:
(1) That they will be of equal age with their husbands.
(2) That they will be of equal age among themselves; i.e. all the women in Paradise will be of the same age and will eternally stay young.
Both of these meanings may be correct at one and the same time, i.e. these women may be of equal age among themselves and their husbands also may be made of equal age with them.
According to a Hadith: When the dwellers of Paradise enter it, their bodies will be without hair, their mustaches will be just appearing, but will yet he beardless, they will be handsome and fair-complexioned, with sturdy bodies and collyrium stained eyes; they will all be 33 years of age. (Musnad Ahmad: Marwiyat Abi Hurairah). Almost the same theme has been related in Tirmidhi by Muadh bin Jabal and Abu Saeed Khudri also.
لِّاَصۡحٰبِ الۡيَمِيۡنِؕ
(56:38) All this will be for the People on the Right

I've had my fair share of trials in this life but never once did I blame my religion, Islam for what I've been through. These tests that we go through only serve as a purpose to bring us closer to Allaah swt.
As a Muslim woman, I truly understand Deborah's struggles, especially since she has not been accustomed to the teachings of Islam but nevertheless, I can truly say this ,that in my darkest days and hours , my only salvation came from Allaah swt . I used to cry in my prayers, asking Allaah swt for guidance and protection against the abuse I was suffering. And with a whole lot of sincere patience, Allaah swt finally answered my du'aas.
That being said, I think it is quite normal for Deborah to feel trapped but the sad thing about it is that she felt she had to leave Islam in order to be free again. This is , by all means , the shaytan working his way into your mind and thoughts. Deceiving you into believing that you cannot cope with this religion anymore and somehow Islam has taken away your rights to be free as an individual.
Let me just say this. I grew up with strict a Islamic background. And when I look at the social ills that are happening in the world today, I thank Allaah truly from the bottom of my heart that He has saved me by keeping me on this straight path.
