It's interesting how some bands or bassists don't care at all about the bass cutting through, and in other bands the bassist will get creative to be heard. My favorite example is Peter Hook in Joy Division and then later New Order. He got pissed how he could not hear his own playing with the wall of guitar and synths, so he decided to go up an octave or so and punch through with these thick melodic lines. And that ended up practically defining the "New Order" sound: a new wave band with lead bass lines ; ) Not sure if you've checked them out at all, I think Love VIgilantes is a great example.
Funny trivia: most know by now, Bowie sang with Bing Crosby in 1977 for Crosby’s last Christmas special. A Christmas song. Towards the end of the festive program before the big Crosby family sing, they played the video that Bowie made for Heroes. It was pretty much the premiere of the song for most people in United States; in a Bing Crosby Christmas special. True story.
Didn't think Motorhead would or could do Heroes well, but this is impressive in that. Nothing compares to Bowie's original, but I appreciated it. Good cover.
Great song. I really like Motörhead’s cover. I like the King Crimson cover of it a lot, too. But nothing beats the original. (Which I believe Robert Fripp played guitar on.) I believe Lemmy played through Marshall guitar amps. Lots of distortion. He played a lot of power chords & often up above the 7th fret. Their first single was a cover of Louie Louie, which was brilliant. Some of the other covers on this album, like The Trooper and God Save the Queen, were cool.
This is the shorter, radio edit version of Bowie's "Heroes" (the album version is 6+ minutes), but still good. The version Lemmy is singing is the full lyrics. LOL, "Not catching bass at all." Since when has bass been important in heavy metal? 😉 I remember my great disappointment the first time I saw Dream Theater play and sure, John Myung's hands were moving but I couldn't hear sh*t. Bowie's version for the win.
I think the exception to the rule regarding bass in heavy metal is Iron Maiden.......Steve Harris' driving bass is phenomenal and really is distinctive.
Based on the lead-up I was expecting bad cover for simply performing the song (plus the lyrics penalty, which is personal and not artistically motivated (it seems to me)). Jaaaaaason... I officially diagnose you with early signs for GCBC-gettingsoftitus... Treatment is available - I recommend 2 doses of T-Pain War Pigs per week.
why do you listen to the single version? the album version is much better, it is also the best known, cutting 3 minutes to a song is never good, the song is still incredible, but nothing to do with the 6 minute version of the album
Lemmy played the bass like a guitar, that's why you don't noticed "a bass"...
I prefer MOTORHEAD, When I'm listening Lemmy, I belive We really can be Heroes just for one day
Both are great.....Bowie's is a classic, but Motorhead do it as Motorhead would do.....respectfully 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Also, he did just what you said because his first amp was really shitty, but it sounded better up an octave.
Yes a motorhead discography
I think you've hit on a good idea there and I didn't even think you realized it. Bowie would be an awesome discography to go through.

Good Cover, Phil Campbell is GREAT!!!
On Bowie's original, that's Brian Eno and Robert Fripp delivering the atmosphere

You need to find a sound effect where the kids all exclaim "meh."
Try Motorhead's cover of Sympathy for the Devil

Fear not Justin, looking forward to whats next not pulling up stakes after the "Caravan" leaves town.
Fear not, fear not...I know what I'm doing. 😬😄.
Good cover, in fact I like it better than Bowie. And I’m really not a big fan of Motörhead.
Great episode. Like both versions. Cover idea stone cold crazy queen vs metallica
Good cover.
Good cover. Both sound great.
Waiting on Armenia earthquake relief, Smoke on the Water.
Justin, Motorhead dives deep into the blues if you're into that...Also, Bowie stole Charlie Sexton and he was never heard from again...
Should try the cover from Peter Gabriel.

Nah the Motorhead version was not live

Good cover, not live just footage
