Motorhead covering Bowie is as wonderful as it sounds. Lemmy and Bowie - what a pair of giants. Bowie would have been chuffed. There's no higher form of respect than respect that comes from Lemmy.
What you guys may not know is this came out one year after both Lemmy and Bowie passed away (they died the same week). So this was like a final farewell for Lemmy, Bowie, and Motorhead. That's why it's kinda wisful and nostalgic.
I stood in the crowd at the Wacken Open Air when they showed the clip to the audience for the first time - me (and all the old school heavy metal dudes around me) were actually sobbing there.
A great cover of a great song! About heroes: I remember when me and my buddy walking to the parking lot after an AC/DC open air. In front of us, we saw a fan in a wheelchair and his friend pushing him. There was a small stairway in front of them, maybe 4 steps and was clear, that this guy never will get the wheelchair with his friend upstairs. So, my buddy and I had short look in each others eyes, I was walking an the left side of the wc, he on the right side, we both grabbbed it, carried it up the stairs and just walking our way as if it was nothing, leaving this guys speechless behind. 😂Maybe we where heroes for them, but for us it was just a normal thing to do.
Andy R. I salute you. It really doesn't take much to be a bona fide hero, does it ? And yet it seems rare, because we don't hear the stories of the little things that mean way way WAY more than they appear on their face.
This just reminds me to be grateful I lived in a time when giants like Bowie and Lemmy walked the Earth. We will never see their kind again. Originals never to be duplicated.
So... happy... that you felt the chills... This cover is one of those rare times when the cover exceeds the original... which was already great. But Lemmy... Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell just knock it outta the park ! And the video is an absolute tribute to all the members of Motörhead who've left us. I often get a tear in my eye watching this video...
Hot! Damn!… Thank you so much for doing a reaction vid to this magnificent rendition of Bowies hit song “Heroes”… Lemmy knocked it out’ve the park on this one & took this song to an entire new level… All the musicians & artists involved in making this version did an outstanding job… Very poignant that Lemmy & David passed away so close together also. They we’re Heroes… both rock & pop gods… Brought joy to hundreds of millions of ys Worldwide for decades… Never be forgotten & shall forever be treasured in our hearts… When I first heard this version on UA-cam months ago I admit I teared up with nostalgia & sadness that these greats were now gone but I also felt some happiness within knowing I was blessed enough to of been a fan of theres while they were alive & that I can still enjoy there vast musical legacy they have left with us to enjoy for years to come.. Thanks again for the upload… excellent choice. You guys rock…
The greatest Rocker ever walked on this Planet!....I am a Lifetime Nerd about Lemmy, collecting now for 45 Years everything about Him.Hail to the Real GOD OF METAL !
Do you remember a story in the newspaper entertainment section way back in like the late 80s, the headline read: "LEMMY QUITS DRUGS" and I thought... "oh... a hard living rocker changes his ways and wants to get this message out to his fans and the youth... ... but no... read the article and Lemmy says he's quitting because "... it's so hard to find the good stuff anymore.." LOL I just adore Lemmy ! He and maybe John Lydon are just about the most real people ever to have walked on this planet...
One of the best covers of this Bowie song, Apocalyptica feat. Till Lindemann also did a great job. You folks should check out some classic Bowie from the Ziggy Stardust era !!
When i was in catholic school in the late 80's , in music class we would be able to bring a cassette of our fave song. Of course they wouldnt allow mix tapes in. It had to be a factory tape. So i took my modeling knife and took apart one of my older sisters lame tapes and switched the reels with this song. The nun would usauly assign a trustee to run the stereo and leave for awhile. My tape got put in and she was back in like 10 seconds. Boy did i get in trouble and ruined play our own music fridays. After that they pre listened songs. I'll never forget that lol
you 2 have to listen to the original, brilliant, comes from the German cult film, Wir Kinder vom Banhof Zoo (We children from Banhof Zoo), it's about drug abuse by children. A legendary film in Germany makes you think

And it's the "I remember" line that makes me tear up every time missing Lemmy!

Miss Lemmy so much……wish he was still here to be onstage!

Lemmy and Bowie died just days from each other. Rip legends!

I prefer the cover by the Hollywood Vampires with Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and Johnny Depp.
But Lemmy rocks as well.

Lemmy just loved music. They did covers of songs that the whole band loved
Bands that covered this CLASSIC! Celtic Frost, Wallflowers, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson...and on his spanish versión "Fricción" from Argentina.
Emotional ending of the clip, i cried. R.I.P Lemmy
Me too... MURDER ONE... Lemmy's silhouette walking down that stairwell... tear to my eye too dude...
I'd love to have heard Bowie doing "The Ace of Spades"
Great cover and tip of the Hat to Bowie.
