Cross Guild is pretty good group for One Piece in my opinion. I like Buggy stepping up as a good character, Mihawk and Crocodile being involved in the story is a nice touch.

Every Yonko has wealth, fame, and power. Those three ideals are PERFECTLY divided between Crocodile, Buggy, and Mihawk. Crocodile has the connections and income, Buggy has the men and resources, and Mihawk has the straight strength and raw power. Together, they form one cohesive "Yonko", each bringing the necessary components the other lacks. It's so fresh and unique, not to mention they hunt Marines down too? Awesome!
Hopefully Crocodile develops his haki when he reaches laugh tale to fight the other Yonko crews. After all, crocodile in this setting should be trained with the power as a Yonko commander.
@@C1K450 Honestly, he should be beyond 95% of any Yonko Commanders. He SHOULD be like Kid and Law, where he's extremely powerful and could relatively hold his own against most top tiers, but he isn't QUITE at that top tier level himself.
I waited for Crocodile's return for 12 years after the timeskip, every arc. Now, I couldn't be happier Oda left the sandman's no doubt finest hour for last. For example, can you imagine If Crocodile starting to really believe in the ultimate dream reawakens the Haki/Ambition he once had?
@@miratunatar I feel Crocodile is the best antagonist the series ever had was because the charisma + sheer scope of his plans but also, that his callousness wasn't diluted by a wordy crybaby backstory like Doflamingo's. I'd prefer to keep it short and sweet like Kaido's (although he really needed a longer one).
@@Dreamfillah Crocodile has charisma as a villain but not to gather a dependable crew around him like Luffy or Buggy. He may have had it with his earlier crew, but after Whitebeard knocked him out of the running, he clearly doesn't have that in-world charisma anymore and has become a schemer. Doflamingo had Law & Roscinante's backstories wrapped up in his as well, to it was bound to be a buffet of exposition. Unlike him, there is next to no backstory on Crocodile. He did have beef with Whitebeard, but he's dead now. And there is that foreshadow of a past with Ivankov, so there's that to look forward to. So as the final saga goes on, we'll see--as whacky as that out-there theory is--if he eventually turns out to be Luffy's mom haha

Furthering the idea that Cross Guild is a real competitor for the One Piece is that Crocodile, Buggy, and Mihawk each can be said to represent one thing that Roger was said to have obtained. Crocodile is wealth, Buggy is fame, Mihawk is power.

I loved the Buggy moment. Besides everything you said in the video, there’s also the significance it has regarding Shanks and Roger. Buggy was an equal to Shanks at some point, and it never made that much sense why besides the ‘falling to the top’ comedy. Now we know that Buggy has the key element to be a great pirate: ambition and leadership. Same as the other three Yonkos.

I feel like Oda was setting up Buggy to be a contender for the One Piece from the beginning, or at least since his introduction at Orange Town. That small East Blue arc has been recontextualized because of 1082. Shanks didn't go after the One Piece because he was waiting for the one Roger is waiting for. Luffy the one Roger waited for was the one to drag Buggy back to the Grand Line and set Buggy on this Falling Upward Trend. If not for Luffy Buggy would still be a nobody on the East Blue. Buggy is very important for the end of the story. How exactly is the big question
I really hope it's gonna be for something really goofy, while at the same time satisfying. I'm also predicting that Buggy and Shanks would reconcile and somehow that would lead to them ushering the way for Luffy to become the pirate king and fulfilling Roger's will.
I would laugh so hard if it’s basically a boss rush of almost every villain Luffy has defeated. Throw in the old east blue enemies too. I would laugh so hard if they all gang up on Luffy yelling at him for ruining their lives and he doesn’t even remember them.
I think you left out something the narrative also needs to fulfill. Shanks and Buggy need to go to laughtale together. Shanks stayed behind to be with Buggy, it's fitting that Buggy and Shanks both set foot there as members of the Roger Pirates. Buggy always needed to find relevance to the final race for One Piece from the moment we found out he and Shanks were Roger Pirates.

To be fair, that's because Oda planted that seed. We got a scene after Marineford of Croc asking Daz Bonez (Mr 1) "I think it's time I go back to the New World. Wanna come with?" Without that scene, I wouldn't have expected Croc's return. Or at the very least, I wouldn't have been AS excited for it, because I wouldn't be sure if it would happen or not.

Man, its really so wild how much better the story got after leaving Wano. I really started to think One Piece would have a disappointing ending, but Egghead has been insane. Cross Guild alone has given us better character moments, pay-offs, setups, and comedy than 90% of Wano. What a time to be fan!

Egghead has been hilarius but cant compite against queen, zoro, robin, Nika, kinemon, oden, momo, etc. And this 3 last ones had tremendous characters moments that (besides buggy) cant compare with on egghead. agreed. Wano was hot garbage. it was the first arc in the series that made me take a break from One Piece. and i say this as someone who had the series at a 10/10 right from Romance Dawn, till the end of Wano Act II.
I think the problem is just Act 3 / Onigashima... the first two acts of Wano are great but Oda really losed the ball in the third. I too was worried about the future of the series but i'm extremely excited with everything that happened since Egghead began
Agreed. Wano overall was a huge letdown. The Tobi Roppo were a joke. Hiyori had all that build up to have someone else kill Orochi, Oda once again taking agency from a key female character he set up. Kaido's backstory was basic bread compared to the multi chapter long Oden flashback for a dead character XD. I could go on. lol
I really want Moria to survive Hachinosu and join Cross Guild Not only would it make the most sense for him (especially since Perona has connexions to Mihawk), but he also would fit in perfectly with the theme as a man who had abandonned his own dream long ago but could he reignited, but it also just ....... would be plain fun to see him interact with Buggy, Crocodile and Mihawk God, I just wish we got a whole spin off around Cross Guild, I love it so much
No one can deny the brilliance of Cross Guild, but collectively, the Supernova went beyond their intended purpose, Oda always said as much. He made them up last minute and thought he'd off screen half of them during the TS. Instead, they helped carry the longest, most meticulously stretch of the story (Punk Hazard - Wano). They just get a bad rep because fans put too much stock in Luffy's alternates. The only one I can't defend is Kid but now we know why Kid was relevant and for me it was worth the wait 😂

Law becoming one of the most popular OP characters and giving us a ton more DF and Celestial Dragon lore, Drake giving us insight into SWORD, Kid... just there to get murked and show Shank's strength and also help take out Big Mom, and I'm glad Bonney is part of the strawhats ongoing arc to dive deeper into adjacent stories of the Revolutionary Army via Kuma. Now it's time for some added tension and comedy via the Cross Guild, which actually plays into the bounty system Oda gave us so early on but never really gave us bounty hunters. Somehow Cross Guild perfectly took over the energy that the Super Novas added to the story and it feels really seamless and fun so far.

And, without being the emotional centre of WCI, he was still as good an addition to that arc as Law was to Dressrosa. Wild statement but look at how he solidified the blood ties family theme, was the brains behind the tea party shenanigans and provided a significant assist for the SHs 'taking down' the arc villian. I mean, law didn't even want the Yonko smoke but my boy Capone was really about that life!! His mafioso vibe truly epitomised the new 'standard' of pirating we were finally confronting for the first time.

Eyeroll emoji lol) but I have to say a "mob leader" type character right away gave us this whole badass dude we could only speculate about at the time but by the time Oda fleshed him out he really leaned into the whole "family" aspect of the trope in a way that really made me love him as a character, rather than leaning into the typical "gangster" role these types of characters are known for. I thought that was such a cool way to flip our initial assumptions of who Bege would end up being in the story. I am very curious how else he's going to affect the story in the future.

Buggy could've been really strong. If Shanks hadn't said anything about not going after the One Piece, but instead challenged him to a race. Maybe, Buggy would've wanted to become stronger and he knew Rayleigh and many other people who would've been more than happy to teach him.
And it's also perfectly understandable why Buggy ended at the bottom like that. Imagine this, you are a kid, and your father (Their Captain), dies, leaving as his will for everyone to follow his example and go to the seas to fulfill their dreams. In that situation, of course you would want to do that more than anything in the world, you want to go to the sea, make the man that raised you proud. And even above that, you want to do it with your brother, the one that resembles dad the most, the annoying guy with you love and always fight with, and respect as much as your dad. And then, he says he doesn't want to do it. That he'll go to the seas but won't follow his ambition, will only be one pirate more sailing around. And after that, with your heart broken and angry at him, you shout at him and run away. Not seeing him again for 20 years. ...I feel bad for this clown. I completely understand how he ended like he did. With just a few different words from Shanks at that point, Buggy could have moved from being a Joke to being a King.

11:40 It's a very interesting aspect about Buggy that many people overlook. I mentioned the exact same thing in my most recent video, but alot of the signs were there with Buggy to reach such a position all along.
Cross guild is the best thing to explain the vision of Oda. Ambition, vision, comedy, strength and world building all together. Usually Oda bring back characters with no good enough explanation but this time they get back to the story line really good. When the shichibukai system dissolved I had never thought they will team up and never thought they will be the #1 threat for the marine(RA are threat for the WG). So interesting to see where Oda will take their story, I like the unknown, whether it will be PK or die by the marines.
I've always personally thought Buggy would be the 4th major character for the Laugh Tale arc because of his role as the antagonist of the Orange Town, the arc all about treasure, and his unexpected longevity in the story after that. I was definitely not expecting emperor buggy tho lol
I honestly see a scenario where Buggy ends up awakening crazy amounts of Haki upon Shanks falling to Blackbeard. I think that will cause him to gain power and become a real threat to other pirates (except the straw hats lol) can’t wait to see more
Oda (2012): One thing that motivates me to keep drawing One Piece is that I want to draw the final saga.🔥 The final saga will be so amazing that it makes the Marineford arc look like nothing. Marineford arc was just a side trip to me. I didn't expect it to be so popular.
I want to see the East Blue villains and Baroque Works members appear in Crossguild in addition to the Shichibukai (maybe even Foxxy). That would make it feel like a real giant world-spanning organization to me.
One of my favorite aspects of Oda's writing is the unexpectedly unique dynamic he gives between certain characters. By this I mean the group dynamic of the entire cast of the Impel Down arc felt like a breath of fresh air, and seeing various antagonists from previous arcs not only making their return but supporting each other and making them outstanding figures in the overall story was amazing to see. So when Oda slaps us with "Mihawk and Crocodile team up with Buggy" was something you wouldn't really expect to see, but now that it's in front of us, the dynamic between the three figures allows for so much exploration into their characters and their inevitable major influence on future events. I really can't wait to see the future of Cross Guild.
I don't get how people haven't realised yet that Buggy is one of the best written characters in the story alongside people like Sanji, Doflamingo, Luffy, Blackbeard, Crocodile, Ivankov etc etc. I'm so happy you give Buggy his recognition as a GOAT character 🙌🏿

It was so blatant but I don't know why it never occurred to me that Buggy had the same power to attract people to him like Luffy (albeit through unconventional means). Since Mihawk realized that potential in Luffy, I wonder if he'll see it in Buggy as well.
I love how Buggy is the face of this crew! I'm not sure if Oda intended Cross Guild to be a 'wild card' or 'joker' in this race to the One Piece but I can't help but look at Cross Guild in this way now. For years I've been wondering why Oda kept revisiting Buggy throughout the story. I'm now glad he's got a serious role to play now. Couldn't be happier to be proved wrong!
Here's my prediction: Buggy gets hailed as Pirate King, despite Luffy being the one to reach Laughtale. Also, a matchup between Crocodile and "Mr. Prince" would be great- ifret jambe would turn Croco-boy to glass.
See now personally I'm waiting for Enel to make a comeback in the story somewhere. Remember at the end of the Skypeia arc, sure he was defeated, but he managed to survive with the Ark Maxim and fly off into the distance. I think Oda sorta hinted at Enel trying to go to the moon but I'm not totally sure but no matter what happens it'd be really cool to see him again. Skypeia is an underrated arc and i think that's because a lot of characters do feel sort of irrelevant since there's not much connection between the Skypeians and the people on the ground, but if we could have Enel make some kind of return i feel like it would make people appreciate Skypeia more. I personally loved Skypeia, it was awesome
Looking at the thumbnail, the matchups make sense, Buggy was luffy's first opponent and holds a grudge against him, Crocodile's plans were failed by Sanji, and Mihawk will inevetably need to fight Zoro. A lot of people are talking about Doffy being recruited into cross guild, and that would probably mean Usopp would need to fight Doffy in a future fight.
This is Oda at his finest. Damn, if you think about this, with how he has been setting up things since we entered the New World, he now has a perfect excuse to make Buggy truly strong. We have been being told time and time agian that what truly matters is the Haki, your "Willpower" and "Ambition". More than anything, more than strength, more than Devil Fruits, more than resources, more than anything else in this world, what truly matters, what truly will let you reach teh top, is your Haki, your Willpower and Ambition. And Buggy, in this last chapter, has shown a feat of Willpower that doesn't really lose against the greatests of characters like Luffy. He stood up against frigging Crocodile and Mihawk, completely beaten up, knowing very well he's weaker than them, and gave them a master class of what it MEANS to be a Pirate, and claiming to the whole world that he'll become the Pirate King, not mattering if he'll get killed for doing it. And as we have been told by Rayleigh, people train their Haki the most by pushing themselves to the limit and making their way past it through sheer willpower. Right now, Buggy's Haki must be through the roof.
I legit just had a "Eureka!" moment the time you mentioned that the greatest strength in this world comes from uniting people under youself. Buggy in a sense is indeed stronger than Mihawk. And Crocodile at that.
Never forget, Buggy's power is literally separating to multiple pieces and then coming back together to form a whole. What else does that? The Poneglyphs.
That Sanji /Crocodile fight would go hard. A little glass action maybe - maybe Crocodile awakens.... On a side note, I think we're about to see multiple Logia awakenings all at once- Aokiji, Kizaru, maybe even a little Smoker.
I would love a James Bond styled fight between Crocodile and Sanji, considering Sanji has some James Bond type style and Crocodile is definitely a bond type villain. Getting to see a potential clash between them and the return of Mr. Prince would be amazing
Best thing about this is it can bring a reason for Zoro to fight Mihawk, who in this crew is Zoros direct competition seeing as Buggy is the face (Captain) and Mihawk is stronger than Crocodile = Mihawk is First Mate (strongest crew member excluding a captain)
The reason why I'm so interested in Cross Guild, is because of Buggy, because of his role in the story and how it is going to turn out. Because of the purpose of a Jester, fool or Clown . Tellers of truth, voice of reason, advisors and mirrors to royalty. Those who could ridicule nobility without suffering the consequences (sometimes they where threatened or killed though if they went too far), because they where chosen to say what needed to be said and have people laugh about it. Jesters often made Kings and Queens better rulers, through making them laugh and about their own foolishness. Inspire them to take action in correcting of those faults. I think it's great that Buggy is doing exactly that for Mihawk and Crocodile.......They need someone like Buggy, because these two idiots take themselves way to seriously. I am really hoping that Mihawk and Crocodile will actually come around to appreciating Buggy.
Then if that said Buggy has the same ambition as Luffy then we will be seeing him awaken his Conquerors Haki soon, probably when shanks is about to die or something to use it as a plot device or deus ex machina
Predict: Buggy wants his revenge on Shanks and challenge him, somehow buggy and cross guild defeat the red haired pirates. Meanwhile luffy beats blackbeard. Luffy finds out buggy defeated shanks and they fight, we have zoro vs mihawk, mr prince vs crocodile and luffy Vs buggy 2.0.
Idk, I feel like buggy might be one of the last bosses; he was one of the first introduced, he's also the one who is a leader that inspires like shanks and Luffy. Maybe it won't be a fight, but I can see all 4 (though probably just 3 I see shanks conceding to Luffy) on the island before lafftale.
Ummm, I would have complained if Sir Crocodile was never relevant again. I'm not totally sure why (awesome design doesn't hurt), but I just love him. AND teamed up with Mihawk... sooo cool, especially if Croc pulls a Plant Admiral and finds a way to deal with his weakness.

I really hope buggy starts training because of newly founded motivation and he unlocks his conquerors haki. I believe buggy has conquerors because he was on Rogers ship and I doubt Roger would have a prodigy that doesn’t have conquerors. In addition to conquerors, buggy could awaken his fruit and have the ability to split everything in his environment and become a real threat as an emperor. I doubt Roger would have buggy on the Oro Jackson if Buggy was without potential. Maybe he just had him because he was friends with shanks idk I’m spitballing. I’m not saying buggy has as much potential as shanks but he Def has the ability to unlock conquerors but can’t because he isn’t brave.

you just made me realize the battle for the op could be a big team ffa on one battlefield. that way nobody is locked into individual matchups for the one piece and it’s a battle of backstabbing teamwork and twists! imagine every person on each team having different objectives that way everybody gets mixed up. we could see 2v1s turn into 2v2s turn into 2v1v1 the amount combinations of characters that opens up is endless. Honestly a lot like how stampede started but oda would expand the fights a lot more. we would be able to get fights like yasopp v usopp and zoro v mihawk maybe even sanji v kizaru( if it’s not just the emperors in the race)at the same time happening in different places on the battlefield. this seems like the most oda thing to do imo and i’m suprised i don’t hear it anywhere else
Everything was good but Mihawk clearly declined Yonko offer and was hunting marines . His ambition was like Zoro to reach the pinacle of swordsmanship .
You can understand the meaning behind their words. Trying to twist what Oda has said about Mihawk and make him someone who has failed instead of suffering from success...
@@splev8111 yh, in game terms: strongest: reaching top of pvp one piece: competitive pve/p exploratory race pinnacle of swordsmanship (or any fighting style): using pve and mostly pvp as mere tools to reach higher heights towards a possibly unending path. if anything mihawk's goal is the hardest as there is no end in sight and why his card says he is waiting for a swordsman that has surpassed shank.
Ima be honest, I thought Buggy playing a huge role in the final saga of One Piece was very well set after the Marineford arc. Oda very obviously had too much fun with him and played him up way to much, to just toss him aside. I felt he was a strong 'final villain' contender ever since the war, but I feel even stronger about it since he was announced Emperor. I think he might be able to match Luffy in bullshit fighting style, especially when the fruit affects him too, I think he could use it to his advantage. He might not be the last hurdle in Luffy's journey, but with him and Luffy fighting and body parts flying all over and the red nose and stuff, its prolly gonna be a fun fight, that's gonna make everybody laugh, thus its a happy end. Something like that is my head canon at least.

Buggy is great precisely because he's weak, what better place to speak from other than someone else who wants the same as you and understands why you can't have it. Luffy draws other people in because he can do what others can't. Buggy draws people in because he can only do what everyone else can.
One very important element of Cross Guild sucess is that we have only been given small glimpses of Crocodile and Mihawk, they are fan favorites but they seem to serve no specific purpose, then from one chapter to another they are given a new role to play and not a small one. Somehow this serves as character growth for the three big players

Having Croc and Mihawk both having screen time is laughable compared to the screen time those 2 had. We see Mihawk like in 10-15 chapters so far and he was introduced since 49. Croc had more time on his fight with Luffy alone lol
I remember in an interview a while back Oda pretty much said the reason why One Piece is so long in the first place is because of the Warlords so Cross Guild being a thing just brings that point home and makes alot of sense in the grand scheme of things
I feel like buggy is going to become a god of some kind, whether it be by awakening his devil fruit, stealing the one piece last second, or finding an ancient weapon. It really seems like buggy will become the final boss of one piece, and Hawkeye will become Zoro’s final battle along with him.
What if cross giuld shankes hand with red haired pirates and then fought strawhats that will give us some of best match up and more accurate coz shanks >mihawk>benbecman but ben is close to them that's would give us luffy vs shanks zoro vs mihawk. I can actually see buggy somehow being strong enough to face luffy and maybe shanks, maybe croc and mihawk teach buggy some advanced haki just so that he can hold his own pretty well. I’m just thinking maybe, first luffy beats buggy so hard that buggy awakens and faces luffy again, but before the fight starts again, shanks steps in and the face off starts.
something i just relaized is that the first cast and second caste of emporers(kaido big mom black Beard white beard and shanks)have a 3 rocks related pirates and 1 roger,while the new cast is opposite with 3 roger related and 1 rocks
Since we never have had a recent arc or series of fights where Luffy isn't part of the final or biggest fight, last I can think of was Baratie and that was more to show the scale of the world. But I'm really hoping for a fight or Davy Back Fight between the SHs and the Cross Guild. Cross Guild is pretty good group for One Piece in my opinion. I like Buggy stepping up as a good character, Mihawk and Crocodile being involved in the story is a nice touch.

Every Yonko has wealth, fame, and power. Those three ideals are PERFECTLY divided between Crocodile, Buggy, and Mihawk. Crocodile has the connections and income, Buggy has the men and resources, and Mihawk has the straight strength and raw power. Together, they form one cohesive "Yonko", each bringing the necessary components the other lacks. It's so fresh and unique, not to mention they hunt Marines down too? Awesome!
Hopefully Crocodile develops his haki when he reaches laugh tale to fight the other Yonko crews. After all, crocodile in this setting should be trained with the power as a Yonko commander.
@@C1K450 Honestly, he should be beyond 95% of any Yonko Commanders. He SHOULD be like Kid and Law, where he's extremely powerful and could relatively hold his own against most top tiers, but he isn't QUITE at that top tier level himself.

@@miratunatar I feel Crocodile is the best antagonist the series ever had was because the charisma + sheer scope of his plans but also, that his callousness wasn't diluted by a wordy crybaby backstory like Doflamingo's. I'd prefer to keep it short and sweet like Kaido's (although he really needed a longer one).
@@Dreamfillah Crocodile has charisma as a villain but not to gather a dependable crew around him like Luffy or Buggy. He may have had it with his earlier crew, but after Whitebeard knocked him out of the running, he clearly doesn't have that in-world charisma anymore and has become a schemer.
Doflamingo had Law & Roscinante's backstories wrapped up in his as well, to it was bound to be a buffet of exposition. Unlike him, there is next to no backstory on Crocodile. He did have beef with Whitebeard, but he's dead now. And there is that foreshadow of a past with Ivankov, so there's that to look forward to. So as the final saga goes on, we'll see--as whacky as that out-there theory is--if he eventually turns out to be Luffy's mom haha

Furthering the idea that Cross Guild is a real competitor for the One Piece is that Crocodile, Buggy, and Mihawk each can be said to represent one thing that Roger was said to have obtained. Crocodile is wealth, Buggy is fame, Mihawk is power.

I loved the Buggy moment. Besides everything you said in the video, there’s also the significance it has regarding Shanks and Roger. Buggy was an equal to Shanks at some point, and it never made that much sense why besides the ‘falling to the top’ comedy. Now we know that Buggy has the key element to be a great pirate: ambition and leadership. Same as the other three Yonkos.

I think you left out something the narrative also needs to fulfill. Shanks and Buggy need to go to laughtale together. Shanks stayed behind to be with Buggy, it's fitting that Buggy and Shanks both set foot there as members of the Roger Pirates. Buggy always needed to find relevance to the final race for One Piece from the moment we found out he and Shanks were Roger Pirates.

Without that scene, I wouldn't have expected Croc's return. Or at the very least, I wouldn't have been AS excited for it, because I wouldn't be sure if it would happen or not.

Man, its really so wild how much better the story got after leaving Wano. I really started to think One Piece would have a disappointing ending, but Egghead has been insane. Cross Guild alone has given us better character moments, pay-offs, setups, and comedy than 90% of Wano. What a time to be fan!

Agreed. Wano overall was a huge letdown. The Tobi Roppo were a joke. Hiyori had all that build up to have someone else kill Orochi, Oda once again taking agency from a key female character he set up. Kaido's backstory was basic bread compared to the multi chapter long Oden flashback for a dead character XD. I could go on. lol

Cross Guild is way better than the Super Novas for the story, absolutely agree.
No one can deny the brilliance of Cross Guild, but collectively, the Supernova went beyond their intended purpose, Oda always said as much. He made them up last minute and thought he'd off screen half of them during the TS. Instead, they helped carry the longest, most meticulously stretch of the story (Punk Hazard - Wano).
They just get a bad rep because fans put too much stock in Luffy's alternates. The only one I can't defend is Kid but now we know why Kid was relevant and for me it was worth the wait 😂

Law becoming one of the most popular OP characters and giving us a ton more DF and Celestial Dragon lore, Drake giving us insight into SWORD, Kid... just there to get murked and show Shank's strength and also help take out Big Mom, and I'm glad Bonney is part of the strawhats ongoing arc to dive deeper into adjacent stories of the Revolutionary Army via Kuma.
Now it's time for some added tension and comedy via the Cross Guild, which actually plays into the bounty system Oda gave us so early on but never really gave us bounty hunters.
Somehow Cross Guild perfectly took over the energy that the Super Novas added to the story and it feels really seamless and fun so far.

P.S. to add to your list, I've gotta shout-out Capone. He helped carry Zou-WCI in the same way Law did for PH-Dressrosa. And, without being the emotional centre of WCI, he was still as good an addition to that arc as Law was to Dressrosa.
Wild statement but look at how he solidified the blood ties family theme, was the brains behind the tea party shenanigans and provided a significant assist for the SHs 'taking down' the arc villian. I mean, law didn't even want the Yonko smoke but my boy Capone was really about that life!! His mafioso vibe truly epitomised the new 'standard' of pirating we were finally confronting for the first time.
@@ajdoku865 dude totally. Capone Bege was such a strange character trope to add to the story (really Oda, we're adding MAFIA characters into OP now? Eyeroll emoji lol) but I have to say a "mob leader" type character right away gave us this whole badass dude we could only speculate about at the time but by the time Oda fleshed him out he really leaned into the whole "family" aspect of the trope in a way that really made me love him as a character, rather than leaning into the typical "gangster" role these types of characters are known for.
I thought that was such a cool way to flip our initial assumptions of who Bege would end up being in the story. I am very curious how else he's going to affect the story in the future.

Buggy could've been really strong. If Shanks hadn't said anything about not going after the One Piece, but instead challenged him to a race. Maybe, Buggy would've wanted to become stronger and he knew Rayleigh and many other people who would've been more than happy to teach him.
And it's also perfectly understandable why Buggy ended at the bottom like that.
Imagine this, you are a kid, and your father (Their Captain), dies, leaving as his will for everyone to follow his example and go to the seas to fulfill their dreams.
In that situation, of course you would want to do that more than anything in the world, you want to go to the sea, make the man that raised you proud.
And even above that, you want to do it with your brother, the one that resembles dad the most, the annoying guy with you love and always fight with, and respect as much as your dad.
And then, he says he doesn't want to do it. That he'll go to the seas but won't follow his ambition, will only be one pirate more sailing around. And after that, with your heart broken and angry at him, you shout at him and run away.
Not seeing him again for 20 years.
...I feel bad for this clown. I completely understand how he ended like he did. With just a few different words from Shanks at that point, Buggy could have moved from being a Joke to being a King.

When the shichibukai system dissolved I had never thought they will team up and never thought they will be the #1 threat for the marine(RA are threat for the WG).
So interesting to see where Oda will take their story, I like the unknown, whether it will be PK or die by the marines.
I've always personally thought Buggy would be the 4th major character for the Laugh Tale arc because of his role as the antagonist of the Orange Town, the arc all about treasure, and his unexpected longevity in the story after that. I was definitely not expecting emperor buggy tho lol

I honestly see a scenario where Buggy ends up awakening crazy amounts of Haki upon Shanks falling to Blackbeard. I think that will cause him to gain power and become a real threat to other pirates (except the straw hats lol) can’t wait to see more
Oda (2012): One thing that motivates me to keep drawing One Piece is that I want to draw the final saga.🔥 The final saga will be so amazing that it makes the Marineford arc look like nothing. Marineford arc was just a side trip to me. I didn't expect it to be so popular.

One of my favorite aspects of Oda's writing is the unexpectedly unique dynamic he gives between certain characters. By this I mean the group dynamic of the entire cast of the Impel Down arc felt like a breath of fresh air, and seeing various antagonists from previous arcs not only making their return but supporting each other and making them outstanding figures in the overall story was amazing to see. So when Oda slaps us with "Mihawk and Crocodile team up with Buggy" was something you wouldn't really expect to see, but now that it's in front of us, the dynamic between the three figures allows for so much exploration into their characters and their inevitable major influence on future events.
I really can't wait to see the future of Cross Guild.

Here's my prediction:
Buggy gets hailed as Pirate King, despite Luffy being the one to reach Laughtale.
Also, a matchup between Crocodile and "Mr. Prince" would be great- ifret jambe would turn Croco-boy to glass.
See now personally I'm waiting for Enel to make a comeback in the story somewhere. Remember at the end of the Skypeia arc, sure he was defeated, but he managed to survive with the Ark Maxim and fly off into the distance. I think Oda sorta hinted at Enel trying to go to the moon but I'm not totally sure but no matter what happens it'd be really cool to see him again. Skypeia is an underrated arc and i think that's because a lot of characters do feel sort of irrelevant since there's not much connection between the Skypeians and the people on the ground, but if we could have Enel make some kind of return i feel like it would make people appreciate Skypeia more. I personally loved Skypeia, it was awesome
Looking at the thumbnail, the matchups make sense, Buggy was luffy's first opponent and holds a grudge against him, Crocodile's plans were failed by Sanji, and Mihawk will inevetably need to fight Zoro. A lot of people are talking about Doffy being recruited into cross guild, and that would probably mean Usopp would need to fight Doffy in a future fight.

Damn, if you think about this, with how he has been setting up things since we entered the New World, he now has a perfect excuse to make Buggy truly strong.
We have been being told time and time agian that what truly matters is the Haki, your "Willpower" and "Ambition". More than anything, more than strength, more than Devil Fruits, more than resources, more than anything else in this world, what truly matters, what truly will let you reach teh top, is your Haki, your Willpower and Ambition.
And Buggy, in this last chapter, has shown a feat of Willpower that doesn't really lose against the greatests of characters like Luffy.
He stood up against frigging Crocodile and Mihawk, completely beaten up, knowing very well he's weaker than them, and gave them a master class of what it MEANS to be a Pirate, and claiming to the whole world that he'll become the Pirate King, not mattering if he'll get killed for doing it.
And as we have been told by Rayleigh, people train their Haki the most by pushing themselves to the limit and making their way past it through sheer willpower.
Right now, Buggy's Haki must be through the roof.
I legit just had a "Eureka!" moment the time you mentioned that the greatest strength in this world comes from uniting people under youself. Buggy in a sense is indeed stronger than Mihawk. And Crocodile at that.
Never forget, Buggy's power is literally separating to multiple pieces and then coming back together to form a whole.

The reason why I'm so interested in Cross Guild, is because of Buggy, because of his role in the story and how it is going to turn out. Because of the purpose of a Jester, fool or Clown . Tellers of truth, voice of reason, advisors and mirrors to royalty. Those who could ridicule nobility without suffering the consequences (sometimes they where threatened or killed though if they went too far), because they where chosen to say what needed to be said and have people laugh about it. Jesters often made Kings and Queens better rulers, through making them laugh and about their own foolishness. Inspire them to take action in correcting of those faults. I think it's great that Buggy is doing exactly that for Mihawk and Crocodile.......They need someone like Buggy, because these two idiots take themselves way to seriously. I am really hoping that Mihawk and Crocodile will actually come around to appreciating Buggy.
Then if that said Buggy has the same ambition as Luffy then we will be seeing him awaken his Conquerors Haki soon, probably when shanks is about to die or something to use it as a plot device or deus ex machina

Idk, I feel like buggy might be one of the last bosses; he was one of the first introduced, he's also the one who is a leader that inspires like shanks and Luffy. Maybe it won't be a fight, but I can see all 4 (though probably just 3 I see shanks conceding to Luffy) on the island before lafftale.
Ummm, I would have complained if Sir Crocodile was never relevant again. I'm not totally sure why (awesome design doesn't hurt), but I just love him. AND teamed up with Mihawk... sooo cool, especially if Croc pulls a Plant Admiral and finds a way to deal with his weakness.

I think another reason why it works os just cause Crocodile and Mihawk aren't unreasonable, Buggy is a coward but him bullshitting his way to the top at the end of the day worked, I think that even though Mihawk and Croc clearly despise Buggy, they KNOW that Buggy has some weird ability to just make things work, if Mihawk wants to live a quiet life then he has to do so by helping buggy, same for croc.

I really hope buggy starts training because of newly founded motivation and he unlocks his conquerors haki. I believe buggy has conquerors because he was on Rogers ship and I doubt Roger would have a prodigy that doesn’t have conquerors. In addition to conquerors, buggy could awaken his fruit and have the ability to split everything in his environment and become a real threat as an emperor. I doubt Roger would have buggy on the Oro Jackson if Buggy was without potential. Maybe he just had him because he was friends with shanks idk I’m spitballing. I’m not saying buggy has as much potential as shanks but he Def has the ability to unlock conquerors but can’t because he isn’t brave.
yes give everyone conquers to make it even more rare, buggy “gaining” coc haki would be the worst thing thatll happened to one piece especially when you’re born with it n he showed 0 signs of having it.
@@twotwon4201 why is he so capable of rallying crew members then? It can’t be a coincidence that he has such high charisma and keeps falling up the ladder to power. Now with his new found vigor he could have reawakened his potential to get Conquerers. I’m not saying he will ever get advanced but just regular conquerors. (I basically just want a buggy arc where he becomes somewhat of a threat and can reach his ambitious goal, by finally using his own power)

you just made me realize the battle for the op could be a big team ffa on one battlefield. that way nobody is locked into individual matchups for the one piece and it’s a battle of backstabbing teamwork and twists! imagine every person on each team having different objectives that way everybody gets mixed up. we could see 2v1s turn into 2v2s turn into 2v1v1 the amount combinations of characters that opens up is endless. Honestly a lot like how stampede started but oda would expand the fights a lot more. we would be able to get fights like yasopp v usopp and zoro v mihawk maybe even sanji v kizaru( if it’s not just the emperors in the race)at the same time happening in different places on the battlefield. this seems like the most oda thing to do imo and i’m suprised i don’t hear it anywhere else
Everything was good but Mihawk clearly declined Yonko offer and was hunting marines .
His ambition was like Zoro to reach the pinacle of swordsmanship .
You can understand the meaning behind their words. Trying to twist what Oda has said about Mihawk and make him someone who has failed instead of suffering from success...

one piece: competitive pve/p exploratory race
pinnacle of swordsmanship (or any fighting style): using pve and mostly pvp as mere tools to reach higher heights towards a possibly unending path.
if anything mihawk's goal is the hardest as there is no end in sight and why his card says he is waiting for a swordsman that has surpassed shank.
Cross guild is an amazing addition to the story
Ima be honest, I thought Buggy playing a huge role in the final saga of One Piece was very well set after the Marineford arc. Oda very obviously had too much fun with him and played him up way to much, to just toss him aside. I felt he was a strong 'final villain' contender ever since the war, but I feel even stronger about it since he was announced Emperor. I think he might be able to match Luffy in bullshit fighting style, especially when the fruit affects him too, I think he could use it to his advantage. He might not be the last hurdle in Luffy's journey, but with him and Luffy fighting and body parts flying all over and the red nose and stuff, its prolly gonna be a fun fight, that's gonna make everybody laugh, thus its a happy end.
Something like that is my head canon at least.

One very important element of Cross Guild sucess is that we have only been given small glimpses of Crocodile and Mihawk, they are fan favorites but they seem to serve no specific purpose, then from one chapter to another they are given a new role to play and not a small one. Somehow this serves as character growth for the three big players

Having Croc and Mihawk both having screen time is laughable compared to the screen time those 2 had. We see Mihawk like in 10-15 chapters so far and he was introduced since 49. Croc had more time on his fight with Luffy alone lol
I guess Crocodile and Hawkeye being at Rogers funeral wasn't just for show. Very interesting stuff. I love One Piece.
I remember in an interview a while back Oda pretty much said the reason why One Piece is so long in the first place is because of the Warlords so Cross Guild being a thing just brings that point home and makes alot of sense in the grand scheme of things

I feel like buggy is going to become a god of some kind, whether it be by awakening his devil fruit, stealing the one piece last second, or finding an ancient weapon. It really seems like buggy will become the final boss of one piece, and Hawkeye will become Zoro’s final battle along with him.
What if cross giuld shankes hand with red haired pirates and then fought strawhats that will give us some of best match up and more accurate coz shanks >mihawk>benbecman but ben is close to them that's would give us luffy vs shanks zoro vs mihawk. Sanji vs benbecman. Jimbei vs crocodile but its not possible tho 😅
The reason why everyone laughs when they learn the history, is that they then understand that the great Buggy will take the one piece.

I can actually see buggy somehow being strong enough to face luffy and maybe shanks, maybe croc and mihawk teach buggy some advanced haki just so that he can hold his own pretty well. I’m just thinking maybe, first luffy beats buggy so hard that buggy awakens and faces luffy again, but before the fight starts again, shanks steps in and the face off starts.
I feel like a Davy back fight between cross guild and Strawhats at the end would be cool lol.
Mihawk is one of the handful of characters in one piece to accomplish his GOAL! That's why he doesn't have any ambition.

something i just relaized is that the first cast and second caste of emporers(kaido big mom black Beard white beard and shanks)have a 3 rocks related pirates and 1 roger,while the new cast is opposite with 3 roger related and 1 rocks

Since we never have had a recent arc or series of fights where Luffy isn't part of the final or biggest fight, last I can think of was Baratie and that was more to show the scale of the world. But I'm really hoping for a fight or Davy Back Fight between the SHs and the Cross Guild. Where Luffy and Buggy don't fight or it's basically a big joke with Buggy's nature and Gear 5th it just sounds hilarious. And let the real big fight of the arc be Zoro vs Mihawk.
The thing that I appreciate about one piece is that their are so many major players you dont know what is going to happen.
