One criticism, could you please stop injecting race into you're overview of either movies or music. Good is good bad is bad no need to separate us into groups more than the mainstream media has. Other than that I love your stuff
"Superbad" along with "Mean Girls" are, to me, the most accurate representations of 00s high school life and how teenagers spoke/acted back then. They came out while I was in high school, and I loved Superbad because it was almost like watching me and my friends as exaggerated characters. I think one's preferences to these movies are all based on where you were in adolescence.
Agreed. Superbad and mean girls are the best two out of this list. I wish he had also included Not Another Teen Movie. That was OG clowning on the genre
Since Finn decided to talk about Alyson Hannigan, can we appreciate that she got 3 iconic characters: Willow, Michelle, and Lily, not many current actors can claim that.
Not Another Teen Movie will always be my fav. I guess since it’s a spoof it didn’t make the list? But I can still watch it today and love every minute.
American Pie 2 is best movie from whole AP franchise. First one most memorable, but now i realize, that the wedding and the reunion is better too. I watched Eurotour about fifteen years ago, so completely forgot what it was about, and a month ago I decided to watch it again and surprisingly it was great. Also I'll mention about, i think almost forgotten movie - "Sorority Boys", super hilarius, Michael Rosenbaum played perfectly in this.
Didin't watch the other sequels, but American Pie 2 is definitely better than the first. It threw the serious "coming of age" tone bullshit out the window and embraced that Stifler is the best character by far.
EuroTrip had me laughing so hard I pissed my pants when it first came out. Tom Greens Freddy got fingered isn’t a teen movie but from that era is a must watch
The best part about Freddy Got Fingered is the meta element. Tom Green basically doing whatever he could to make the studio regret giving him millions and free reign to make a movie, just like what he does in the movie to his dad when he sells his doodles
The little hand thing was funny as shit. That’s all I seem to remember though. I think we can all agree that all of these movies, dumb as they are, are better than anything made after 2011.
I know it’s not great but the girl next door is one of my favourite movies of all time. I think a lot of the movies from this era are pretty good fun if you aren’t going in expecting a cinematic masterpiece, although some of them transcend the genre a bit more than others.
That's a great list. I was born in 2002 in Eastern Europe so I never had a chance to experience the 2000s American culture but I've always been fascinated by it. I would add some honourable mentions to the list like: Loser, Can't hardly wait, The Girl Next Door, Clueless, 10 things I hate about you, easy A On the more sophisticated side: Juno, The First Time, The Spectacular now, It's kind of a funny story, The Ghost world, the perks of being a wallflower, The Art of Getting By.
We need a tier list for those weird 2000's teen horror movies like The Faculty and Disturbing Behavior. Remember that Fly's song with Katie Holmes? I think Idle Hands was one too...cool movie. JNCO Horror I feel like Slackers with Jason Schwartzman and New Guy with DJ Qualls should be on this list, lol
The first 3 American Pie movies, the first 3 Scary Movie movies, Road Trip and Eurotrip, and the parody of Not Another Teen Movie are the best Teen comedies. When it comes to best comedy movies overall, the Hangover movies, Due Date from 2010, and the first Horrible Bosses movie from 2011 are just fucking hilarious. And obviously classics like Airplane, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Home Alone, and Groundhog Day are some of the best comedy movies ever made. I think Todd Phillips is probably the best comedy director ever. Also he got the idea of the Hangover movies from an episode of The Simpson’s where Homer and Ned go to Vegas and get black out drunk and wake up re married.
The music is why teen movies work though. They’re dumb, turn your brain off humor and they have fun soundtracks. What more do you want, cinema with depth? Citizen Kane? Pfft
2000s Teen Movie comedies are golden! I've watched basically all of them and I love them! Just Friends is my all time favorite after Van Wilder, Eurotrip, American Pie (almost all of them, but Naked Mile is underrated). Also missing She's Outta My League and Fired Up! Please make a Part. 2, there are sooo many gems missing :P
Superbad, Eurotrip, and Sex Drive are the goats imo. Edit: Yes Finn, I've watched Eurotrip recently. Within the last year or so. Not a good movie. I love it. 🤷♂️
Hi maybe someone could help, I've been looking for a movie name, it's a highschool teen movie where most of the action takes place outside of the school, the main character is driving a car to complete some quests. I dont really remember much more, I just remember that it was really fun movie. Anyone?
Here's the deal : Things need to be (at least, as much as humanely possible), judged in accordance with the time period from which they originate. Of course, something like American Pie won't be ''as good as we remembered'', because it took place waaaaay before the ''MeToo'' era, for example. Seeing how something within our own lifetime, on a 20-year span, has aged so poorly, might help us garner just a little bit of compassion for, let's say, some infamous historical figures that lived 300 years ago.
I graduated in 06', so I love the 00's teen movies. So much fun and hilarity. Great video Mr. Mckenty. Mean Girls was awesome. P.S. you forgot Road Trip was infinitely better than Euro Trip.
So with you on Rachel Leigh Cook and Josie and the Pussycats is bomb!! Kay Hanley (letters to cleo) did the vocals and I imagine helped with the songs.
Superbad captures the zeitgeist better than any of these movies. It’s an S tier amongst S tiers. Same with mean girls and American pie. Genre defining! But Fin forgot the legendary movie that is “Not another teen movie” it hits every trope!
Would be cool to see. 90s teen movie tier list. Clueless, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Craft, Cruel Intentions, etc. And you could include She's All That again because it's from 1999.
How to be a 2000’s Teen Comedy. Have a nerd as your lead, a hot foreign exchange student, lots of gay jokes, references to porn, a frat party scene, cringy parent scenes, and an awful PoP Punk soundtrack
HELL YEAH BROTHER! I'm the 300th to hit like haha. No matter what you talk about it's always entertaining as f*ck! Keep up the awesomeness and being yourself, man! Also jammin' out to pop punk with breakdowns hangin' with my bud down the street named Cody while he yells at his mom for living the crust on his pb&j
I just don't get how jokes can be okay and funny then, but now they are "problematic." Wait ten years and those European jokes you like so much will be "problematic" as well.
Good ole Finn, contrarian as always. Saying something mid is 'Underrated' and something universally beloved is 'Annoying'. Getting flashbacks to when he said 'SOAD are terrible' and 'guys let me show you my favourite Crazytown song' in the same video haha At least we can agree on Rachel Leigh Cook
My personal favorite is National Lampoon's Senior Trip. Fantastic soundtrack, and Tara Strong was pure crush material. Chong as a schoolbus driver doing ketamine, Jeremy Renner, and a guy from Kids in the Hall as a Star Trek obsessed cosplayer. Sountrack: Our Lady Peace, Daisy Haze, Matthew Sweet, Seven Day Diary, 311, The Muffs, and more. Just a great time capsule of 1995.

Best part of American Pie and its ilk are Eugene Levy. Full stop.
Should I buy one of these for my wife? She's a real plumper, but I'm a little worried about our trailer shaking
One criticism, could you please stop injecting race into you're overview of either movies or music. Good is good bad is bad no need to separate us into groups more than the mainstream media has. Other than that I love your stuff
Fenn McCunty
This channel has hit all the bases for me now. From grimey metal to 2000s teen movies. Thanks for content Finn.
Finn is the man of culture🔥🔥
"Superbad" along with "Mean Girls" are, to me, the most accurate representations of 00s high school life and how teenagers spoke/acted back then. They came out while I was in high school, and I loved Superbad because it was almost like watching me and my friends as exaggerated characters. I think one's preferences to these movies are all based on where you were in adolescence.
came here to say this. thats
because, at least with superbad, it was written by highschool kids.
Jonah Hill was hilarious in Superbad
Agreed. Superbad and mean girls are the best two out of this list. I wish he had also included Not Another Teen Movie. That was OG clowning on the genre
You mean the late representation of the 00s, because american pie it's the early representation of the 00s just like the 90s
Hope there’s a part 2. Would like to see Not Another Teen Movie, Juno, Napoleon Dynamite, and Clueless ranked
national lampoons van wilder needs on this list too.
Nothing touches not another teen movie. Just the first 5 minutes will tell you if youll either love it or hate it
and Road Trip.
The New Guy

Since Finn decided to talk about Alyson Hannigan, can we appreciate that she got 3 iconic characters: Willow, Michelle, and Lily, not many current actors can claim that.
Finn bringing us the content this generation needs. Only thing missing was the underrated classic She’s The Man with Amanda Bynes in her best role
Superbad is elite
High key masterpiece
@@boxkid759 Fr, I think Finn just hates anyone who smokes weed lmao
@@bennybadfishthere's not even weed in this movie.
@@boxkid759 I know that’s what was weird about his take
Why would you park in staff parking?
This man Finn has insane levels of expertise on all important topics of life, never ceases to amaze me.
American Pie, Road Trip and Van Wilder are the best teen comedies for me.
“Superbad isn’t as good as Sex Drive” is the wildest take
Glad to see someone give Josie and the pussycats the props it rightly deserves! Putting it in the S tier was definitely Chad behavior.
If superbad isn't S. This video is trolling.
Finn ain’t appreciating true American culture smh
Just saw the part. Huge L Finn.
That IMDB description of American Pie makes it sound like they’re all going to sleep with each other! 😂
Not Another Teen Movie will always be my fav. I guess since it’s a spoof it didn’t make the list? But I can still watch it today and love every minute.
"I wanna see some goddamn hustle"
"Don't try anything fancy.....goddammit"
@@marknielsbeats Reggie Ray stays in the game goddamnit!
We need this for 90s teen films too... need some Can't Hardly Wait tier ranking action.
Saw it in the theater back in the day. Not a popular movie.
Can’t hardly wait one of the classics
Clueless has to be number 1
American Pie is THE teen movie. Even though they aren't really teens in the third, The Wedding is a step up from the second one for sure
I love how stiffler wins the respect at the gay bar and gets them to help him in the end LOL
Agreed.. none of the aforementioned movies exist without American Pie. I am appalled!
"American Pie" (in the context of the time) hands down, honorable mention "Van Wilder". That dog jizz scene is seared into my memory.
Eurotrip > American Pie. Maybe biased because European :P
Love waiting too
Dude, I actually love Superbad and Mean Girls lol.
American Pie 2 is best movie from whole AP franchise. First one most memorable, but now i realize, that the wedding and the reunion is better too. American Pie 2 is definitely better than the first movie. Really, the only movies that matter in that franchise are the 4 with the original cast.
I agree American pie 2 is better that’s the last one I liked from the series
EuroTrip had me laughing so hard I pissed my pants when it first came out. Tom Greens Freddy got fingered isn’t a teen movie but from that era is a must watch

The Girl Next Door needs a shout out. A much better movie than the ridiculous premise would have you believe. Good soundtrack as well.
Please do 2000’s family movies like Cheaper By The Dozen! That movie got me into Pop Punk and it’s actually really decent 🤘🔥
I hate most things “Seth Rogan” as well but “Superbad” should be S Tier
It was an honor to be a part of the stream that day, what a moment of cultural significance
American Pie is S tier. How dare you!
Great vid, I love seeing you branch off with content like this
We rewatch eurotrip about once a year and every time it's a certified-iconic-cultural classic. It's so simple, that it's the best.
Love the videos Finn. But if I made a tier list of your tier lists, this one would go in F
“Love your videos, but here’s a super negative comment!”
I’m surprised scary movie wasn’t on here. They were hilarious at the time making fun of the popular horror movies back then. Great casting 😂
The little hand thing was funny as shit. That’s all I seem to remember though. I think we can all agree that all of these movies, dumb as they are, are better than anything made after 2011.
Still love Scary Movie!

Tara Reed just became a party girl, 1998 to 2002 was her prime, and then she just went full Lindsay Lohan before Lindsay Lohan.
Superbad is legit one of the funniest movies ever made
That's a great list. I was born in 2002 in Eastern Europe so I never had a chance to experience the 2000s American culture but I've always been fascinated by it. Superbad is a S tier movie bro, nuff said
My favorite was Superbad and Road Trip
Edit: wait Road Trip isn't here. It was S tier in my opinion
There is nothing I do more religiously than watch mean girls every year. It's a true classic. I learn some new core truth every time I watch it.
Finn showing ppl what being in your 40s is really like
Sad isnt it
Good call Finn. Like you taking on other cultural mediums. Always nice to look at the 2000s and call them the good ole days.
The first 3 American Pie movies, the first 3 Scary Movie movies, Road Trip and Eurotrip, and the parody of Not Another Teen Movie are the best Teen comedies.

I really dig these movie/video game/food tier lists, some of my favourite UA-cams.
Anytime American Pie 2 was on Comedy Central I'd always see the Alien Ant Farm scene.
I watched mean girls in Iraq in 05 and it still holds up. BUT... this list cannot be complete as you left off the classic Adam Brody vehicle GRIND
Mean Girls was a clutch choice. A little bit disappointed that 10 Things I Hate About You Didn't make the list.
Mean Girls is the only 2000s Teen movie that aged like fine wine.
not another teen movie?
Road Trip (2000) has to be my favorite teen movie
Dudes inability to explain why the movies are good or bad is impressive. "It's not good". ....oh,...okay....
Superbad is god tier comedy, let alone teen movie.
American Pie 2 > American Pie. American Pie walked so American Pie 2 could run
The music is why teen movies work though. They’re dumb, turn your brain off humor and they have fun soundtracks. What more do you want, cinema with depth? Citizen Kane? Pfft
The 80's would like to have a word with you about classic teen movies.
Now those were the best 😈
I don't even have to watch the video or ask anybody, mean girls is the best teen movie ever
American Pie: A-B tier.
American Pie 2: C tier.
American Wedding: A tier. Critically underrated.
You know it’s a good ass 2000’s movie when the “IN A WORLD” guy is narrating the trailer
“Waiting” with Ryan Reynolds is also a great 2000’s movie think Office Space but for Chain Restaurant’s
I just rewatched that last night and it is still hilarious. Ryan reynolds chasing a 17 year old is bad but its still funny.
American Pie 1--classic
American Pie 2--trash
American Pie 3--supremely under-rated, and brings the character arcs together surprisingly well.
I actually won a Mean Girls Trivia once so when you said “if you don’t like
Mean Girls we can’t be friends” I felt heavily
2000s Teen Movie comedies are golden! I've watched basically all of them and I love them! Eliza Dushku from Bring it On and The New Guy made me bisexual
I nominate "Cattle Call" as the worst movie in this genre. The awful theme song has lived rent free in my head for years... ugh.
Too bad KIDS came out before the 2000s. You’d have to create a tier above S. that movie was in a league of its own.
We need a round 2! Dude Where’s My Car, Can’t Hardly Wait, New Guy, Bubble Boy and many more!
Punk guy should really stay away from anything teen related
I love how the trailer for american pie 2 leaves at the part where jim tries to caress stifflers cheek and he just smacks him away lmao
Finn cringing at Seth Rogen literally made my 2023. A true king amongst men!
Here's the deal : Things need to be (at least, as much as humanely possible), judged in accordance with the time period from which they originate. The aged thing only applies to people who let things that are not reality from a diff time offend them 😂
Being offended by things that are not real is a choice lol
Too funny😂😂 "Movies are for kids, films are art for adults"
There were so many teen films that it's easy to miss 90% of them, but forgetting about "A Walk to Remember" is a pretty huge omission.

How to be a 2000’s Teen Comedy. Have a nerd as your lead, a hot foreign exchange student, lots of gay jokes, references to porn, a frat party scene, cringy parent scenes, and an awful PoP Punk soundtrack
Does soundtrack play a role in the ranking? How many of them had Blink-182 Damnit?
Bro how are you gonna talk about 2000's teen movies an not mention Not another teen movie!? The greatest one of all time

I’m glad you mentioned Josie And The Pussycats one of my favorite childhood movies and I had it on DVD 😂 definitely S tier
Superbad was the American Pie of the 2000s.
