Where's Beyoncé @finmckenty ?!
Hi dear Finn.
Can I give you an advice?
listen to Morissette Amon.
listen to her while she sings live, seated, on FM radio Wish 107.5.
I bet you haven't heard a voice of this phenomenal quality in a long time.🤭
Yeah Paris Hilton is a moron. Her manager hired people to run the businesses
@@luispussick5606 and Will Smith, Oscar and Grammy winner, along with other major awards/nominations in his career
Did you delete this Paris Hilton video?
Jared Leto knows that this timeline isn't ready for Morbius 2: The Musical, featuring hits such as "Morb Over Troubled Water", "Don't Morb For Me Argentina", "I Am The Very Model of a Morbin' Major General" and "Morbeo et Euredice".
Don't forget his side project Morbiud Angel
@@svmmyb0i220 lmao
Morb over troubled water.....thats priceless
i would watch the hell out of this
Continually shocked at Finn’s opinion of Jack Black’s musical ability. It seems like he heard two songs off the first Tenacious D album and said “eh not great”. Dude has range, power, and sustain. He can do great metal vocals and then soar to beautiful high clean vocals. Check out Tenacious D’s cover of The Last In Line by Dio. Truly an amazing singer.
His opinion of Jack black is way off base in general. Obviously this stuff is subjective but Jack black is not "theatre kid comedy". He's a complete socal stoner type, and one of the most naturally funny people in Hollywood in decades (in my opinion)
Tenacious D has Dave Ghrol on drums, Jacks voice is absolutely insane and he's a better musician than you're giving him credit for.
Absolutely!Lots of singers can be jealous of his voice and I truly think he is not worse at acting then JD... 😅
Jack does okay on guitar but his singing chops are truly out of this world once you watch all his material, including movies. he really does have true vocal talent.
Agreed, not Pavarotti but quality is there. I mean after all they call kid rock a singer......(I liked old kid rock when I was 14, and this kinda feels like I just kicked myself in the nuts saying it)
peaches
This is my favorite GD channel. "BBQ friends," "music for people who back into parking spots," and now "hot dog rock."
Fuckin love it.
Johnny Depp has been in some amazing films. It’s a crime that he’s known mostly for Pirates of the Caribbeann smh
Ikr? Rango is always slept on & it should be a classic.
Donald Glover honestly transcends your typical actor/rapper - actor/musician. He was a comedy writter on some of the biggest sitcoms in the mid 00s, is a voice actor for spiderman, has 2 of the highest selling independent records ever, wrote and stared in Atlanta with his brother, and troy and abed (no need to clarify that).
dong lover is great for sure
Troy and Abed in the mooooorning!
I feel like he needs a Childish Gambino education. Because The Internet was 🔥🔥🔥
I don't listen to much Tenacious D anymore but I would've never picked up a guitar if it weren't for them. My first band was a blatant ripoff of The D. Saw them open for Kid Rock in like 2002 and it was one of the best shows I've seen. Saw them again a decade later and they were still great
Was waiting for Taylor Momsen to come up. She’s a good example of someone who made the transition from acting to music. Went from being Cindy Lou-Hoo in the Grinch and a basic white girl on Gossip Girl to being an edgy rocker chick with some damn good music!
yeah he needs to put her in part 2
Agreed, Taylor's awesome
Love her voice
Is she known for anything other than Cindy Lou-Hoo though? I’m not a movie buff, so I am probably wrong, but that’s the only thing I’ve ever heard people say she’s acted in. Love her voice, though. I like the Pretty Reckless a lot, and I think she and the band don’t get enough credit.
@@pinkmonkeybird2644 Gossip girl, as mentioned earlier. She had a few smaller roles as well but grinch and gossip girl are the 2 biggest ones, and since gossip girl she’s pretty much stopped acting to focus on her music
Despite how you feel about his music you can't deny how amazing Jack Black's voice is
You really should have included David Bowie in your list. He was an amazing musician and vocalist, and he changed the musical landscape repeatedly. He also had equally impressive movie roles - everything from The Man Who Fell to Earth, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, The Prestige, Zoolander, and more.
You don't have to like Jack Black's music, but it doesn't take away from his actual ability.
His vocal prowess is insane.
Agree to disagree, your opinion is your opinion, but I just wanted to draw the distinction between "music" and "musical ability".
he isn't a great or at least a consistently good songwriter, he has vocal ability to be sure but that's it.
Also he isn't as technically gifted a vocalist as many career musicians, from jeff buckley to mike patton theres plenty way better rock singers
@@tamamakiiti587 lmao I don’t think someone as up there as Mike Patton is the yard stick of how to measure if someone has good vocal ability or not, of course he’s not as good as him. Doesn’t make him a bad musician though and that’s the scale in the viseo
Idk if “prowess is insane” is how I’d describe it. He’s good, for sure, but let’s be real here.
@@coleG112 Fair enough, that's basically all I was trying to say.
Change it to "vocal prowess is insane for a simple, comedy, hot-dog rocker who learned just enough guitar to be funny."
I was just shocked that he classified him as a "bad" musician.
It's all good either way.
@@wakeyskate the comment read "his vocal prowess is insane" thats how i would describe mike patton, not jack black.
who's talking about yardsticks lol, this is a direct comparison
Lady Gaga is a great musician and a great actress.
I was thinking the same. Was expecting her on here.
That small laugh after you asked “would you rather listen to Paris Hilton or Hollywood vampires” was for some reason the funniest part of this whole video to me because I truly felt that.
There's a video of Jack Black doing vocals for a Led Zeppelin cover and he is absolutely nailing it!
Also, for all the cheesy films John Cena has been in, honestly he was probably one of the best things in the latest Suicide Squad film.
He did a really great cover of Last in Line for a Dio tribute album too.
Glad to see Demi get some love. I'm so tired of people acting like Demi is somehow a horrible person just because she has made some mistakes online. She's a fucking recovering addict, she isn't going to be correct 100% of the time. That doesn't mean she deserves to be crucified because her ED was triggered by "Guilt Free" yogurt, or she shaded Taylor swift 1000 years ago. She is human and nothing she has done even comes close to being as bad as other artists that somehow still have careers (Chris Brown?).
Erectile Dysfunction?
@@Journeyman2585 eating disorder
She's not a recovering addict. She's an idiot who puts other recovering addicts in danger by her insistence that in her "program"she can use, i think alcohol because alcohol isnt her addiction. Music to the ears of other addicts, who only need an excuse. The yogurt thing just cemented her as an entitled, bored young woman who sought to hurt a mom and pop.
10/10 would show up for an 3 hour long Johnny Depp thirst stream.
Next video idea: "Which version of Johnny Depp is the best looking?"
Dude, Donald Glover is an awesome actor.
Yas
He was great on community and did a damn good take on Lando Calrissian
Suprised no one mentioned Ice T, who’s known for being a legendary rapper, fronting metal/hardcore band Body Count, and playing a detective on Law and order, which tons of people have pointed out is a massive contrast to the anti police stance in his music
JLo in “Selena” is iconic. Such a great performance! Based on that alone I wouldn’t say she’s a terrible actress at all. She also got Oscar buzz for her role in “Hustlers.” She’s definitely not the greatest singer, but has a super successful career. And yeah, she’s an incredible dancer. Talented for sure.
I don’t consider the Camp Rock soundtrack to be Demi’s early music lol. That would be her first two albums “Don’t Forget” and “Here We Go Again.” Solid pop-rock albums with pop-punk influences. I’m so hype for her return to that genre this year!!! There are already snippets of the album out there and it’s genuinely killer tbh. I’m confident it will be one of the best releases in this modern pop-punk revival.
yeah i have to vehemently disagree on all fronts as well, other than JLo being good in Selena, which she was.
Dylan, Tama… What’s the issue? lol 💀
@@brittanybutlermusic haha well... JLo is never very convincing to me and Demi's song's are so boring! Pop needs more than killer vox, i need some lyrics i can grab onto as well... Like Rina Sawayama or Charli XCX
@@tamamakiiti587 I mean, I haven’t seen “Hustlers,” but I watched her documentary on Netflix and know she got Oscar buzz for it.. and someone typically doesn’t get that if they didn’t deliver a respectable performance so I was just relaying the information. 🤪
As for Demi, I was referring to her early music like this: ua-cam.com/video/OMHHUsQRmvo/v-deo.html - and how the pop-rock/pop-punk influenced genre totally suits her far better than the straight ahead pop music she’s released since then. I’m genuinely sure that their new album will be a banger. The upcoming single “Substance” sounds so good. In my humble opinion, her approach somehow sounds more authentic and true to what the 2000s wave of emo/pop-punk actually sounded & felt like, as opposed to the 2020s MGK-style reboot we’ve been hearing from artists. I just can’t get into it personally.
However, she’s already taken the first official step towards joining the emo/pop punk revival by collaborating with Travis Barker on this remix 2 years ago lol. 💀 ua-cam.com/video/QhYQsXfYy9c/v-deo.html - Even with the pop lyrics, it’s waaaaay better than the original pop version AND beats a lot of 2020s pop-punk songs I’ve heard tbh.
J lo in anaconda is iconic.
Mr. Fred Durst signed 30 Seconds to Mars, theres a Limp Bizkit MTV Diary (I think) video where he is on the tour bus telling IInterscope "yeah, yeah, sign Jared's band, its good, get it done" most people forget he used to be an A&R for Interscope on the peak of LB fame
maybe because I was young af, but back in late elementary school we were absolutely rocking Tenacious D songs every chance we got. We sang their songs on the hallway, imagine ourselves on their concerts while in the shower, we were the biggest fans of the band and the movie too. I'd like to add that we couldn't really appreciate the comedy part, because we didn't know much english back then. I find the utter indifference of Finn quite weird about them :D
No, those songs are still good. The best? Not really, but they were great at being what they were. Finn’s take is horrible.
The best PRMBA merch, obviously, is the "brutal technical death metal/ technical brutal death metal" shirt. I wear that one all the time, shit is hilarious
Jack Black has other great bands, Sonic Death Monkey, also Barry Jive and the Uptown Five.
Didn't even know this. Thought he only had Tenacious D.
They were on the verge of being called the Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but they dropped it.
Steve Martin can rip banjo pretty well, Ed Helms also plays bluegrass and folk too lol
I can agree. Just saw Steve Martin live with Martin Short & not only can he act but his blue grass band was great!
Hey love your channel. Just curious in case I missed it. Did you or have you done a video on The Interupters? Or are you even wanting to? And, if you did, where can I find it? Thanx keep doing what you’re doing
What did I watch before you were on UA-cam. Great video as always!
Jack Black happens to have a fantastic singing voice. It's just unfortunate that he never really had any part in any serious music. Aside from the Tenacious D cover of Last In Line.
he doesnt like serious music, before he did tenacious d he tried to do serious stuff, but he couldnt do it
Steve Burns from Blues Clues put out a pretty decent album in 2003. then in 2017 he released an album of music for kids (under the name SteveNSteven, with Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips) that was musically very good and lyrically, kinda for kids but also with hidden mature themes. Both albums are worth checking out.
there was also an album he made around 2007 that's become lost media aside from a few low quality youtube uploads. I even asked him about it personally and he doesn't even have a copy.
Thanks for brightening my day finn. Appreciate you
Thanks for watching!
Demi Lovato is insane. That’s the comment.
Imagine thinking that
I feel like I missed out on a lot in life by never getting into Demi Lovato after this video.
@@vulpes3018 SHE is tho….

Froyo insanity
I think it would have been better to rate them as a MUSICIAN and not based off the music they create. Especially since you rated them on how good of an actor they are vs how good their movies are. Good actors can be in bad movies and good musicians can make bad music.
exactly this!
Jack black's got pipes, most versatile singer of all these artists for sure
Johnny Depp killed it in “Blow”
Fuck yes he did.
you rock man. I really enjoy your videos, keep it up!
Thank you!
Some suggestions if you do another:
Snoop Dogg, Elvis, Iggy Pop, Sting, Courtney Love, Prince, Kris Kristofferson, Cher, David Bowie, Madonna, Tupac, Andre 3000, Dwight Yoakum
If you want somebody who is popular, talented in both music and acting and not problematic...Barbara Streisand.
What about Mecha Streisand? She really wanted that triangle.
@@TheMostGloriousBeard funny I was about to comment that I blame South Park for having negative views of Babs for years. Still don't like her music but she's good

My father took me (and maybe my brother) to a Red Sox game at Fenway park back in 2006. I was about eleven or twelve years old. John Cena was there to throw the first pitch. So, I made my way to the grandstand (behind home plate in layman's terms) to hopefully meet the legend himself. Whom I was very, very surprised I could even see. I get to where I needed to be and he came over to take photos with fans. I got my picture (wish I could find it) and then had some small talk. As the interaction was coming to an end it occurred to me that my gym teach at the time said he went to college with Cena and had a bit of a rapport with him. So, I told him "Oh, by the way, Phil Landry says hello." After explaining who he was in relation to me I was like "See ya Mr. Cena" and walked away. As I was walking away Cena was like "Hey, kid... tell Phil I said hello, please!" I promised I would (I did). And, yeah, that's my John Cena story. Good times.
Also, nice video Finn! I love you
What I wanna know is what happened, to the remixed "core" genres albums. Some were good some were not, but my question is, were they at the time things done or were they just not popular enough to continue them. The only thing I see today is Illenium featuring some vocalists. I just find this to be a small little interesting topic.
Finn, let's bring some love into this world, video series ideas: The songs we need right now, bands\musicians that were ahead of their time, great music UA-cam channels [professor of rock or me British canon] and one I really wanna know is most underrated people in music. Teach us about people under the radar and give them their roses
I’ve done hundreds of videos about that!
Love the interviews Professor of Rock pulls off but I quit watching when every video was "What's wrong with today's music" and "Why today's music sucks". Just really negative boomer energy for a gen-x guy
*new british Canon
@@FinnMckentyPRMBA what do you think of Kate Bush being one of the most popular artist these last few weeks?
That is the power of netflix and tiktok!
I don't think I've ever disagreed more with Fin on his Jack Black opinion
Same.
@@theirishpotato6588 agree. Jack black definitely not theater kid vibe. Genuinely hilarious and kind, humble dude in general
The kill is a classic, Atlanta by Donald Glover is a phenomenal tv show that pulls you in, and Demi is a phenomenal vocalist. Since the age of 14 or 15, her vocal chops were just insane.
He won’t admit it, but Finn just didn’t want to get his ass kicked by someone he can’t see
Bro “Hot dog music” is an S tier new term
Please do Andy Samberg from The Lonely Island next
You gotta do Christopher Lee next time. What could possibly hit your target demographic better than power metal and Star Wars?
I need to join the twitch streams so I can talk in real time. I’ve never downloaded the twitch app for anybody. For some reason I’ve always refused too. But I think you’ve got me convinced to download and join lol. Idk how you do it. But you make me care and get involved in stuff I don’t normally really care about lol.
I mean Tenacious D certainly aren't known for making the greatest songs in the world, they are just a tribute...
Johnny Depp is a very talented at guitar though, also have you heard his few singles he’s put out with Jeff Beck? Those are amazing
Flight of the Conchords has a song called If You're Into It, which is in fact a timeless classic
you def have to do Ryan Gosling next, his band is actually super good
Jack Black is actually a really good musician! It's just that he doesn't it take it seriously, so it comes off as bad. You should watch him play with toy instruments on his Instagram, where he proves that you can still make music with them.
Tenacious D covering Dio's The Last in Line is underrated af.
Wonder boy is a phenomenal song.
Finn put Paris Hilton ahead of jack black...damn
Also, ICE T! BODYCOUNT!
The rock when he featured on a song with techn9ne was surprisingly good in my opinion
Damn this is a great video lol. Your description of why Tenacious D is uninspiring was hilarious. This man has a way with words lmao
Childish Gambino is freaking amazing, great music and wonderful lyrics.
You can say you don't like Jack Black's humor, but the way he handles the paparazzi is hilarious
Zhong Xina
Barbeque Friend and Hotdog Rock might be a couple of my new favorite terms
Jared Leto is the best of the best on this list but THE WORST person of them all
Honestly Finn, this video is your masterpiece!
Honorable mention: Sir Christopher Lee. Dude owned the Dracula character in the 60s and 70s, went on to appear in star wars and lord of the rings. As well, he was an accomplished opera singer with two power metal albums. S+ tier.
I'm surprised you didn't have Selena Gomez on the list. She did a passable job on the Fundamentals of Caring and is good in the Hotel Transylvania films, though I guess voiceover doesn't count?
She's also pretty good in the show 'Only Murders In The Building' with Steve Martin and Martin Short.
I always thought it was pretty awesome and hilarious when Paris Hilton played a parody of herself in "Repo! The Genetic Opera"
Definitely should do one on Nickelodeon and Disney artist who takes this seriously
need a part two!!!
Finn having a moment with Johnny Depp is the best thing ever
Fin breaking the tension in the studio with a new producer or something "bro I have Johnny Depp a disgusted handy j once how cool is that"
I know this isn't in Finn's normal wheelhouse but Bruce Willis did a good version of Respect Yourself from the album Return Of Bruno.
30STM’s first two albums were fantastic, and they had some decent hit singles after that, though I disliked their latest record enough that I now follow them little enough that I had no idea Jared had been in some hot water (it hasn’t made it onto his Wikipedia page yet, which is kind of unusual). They played about 100 shows in Toledo during their early era, most of which I attended, and I’d eventually find out it was because he was hooking up with the manager of the local Abercrombie & Fitch store. We hung out with them after each show & I would’ve absolutely backed Jared as a good human being back then. But then again, he *was* an actor…and there’s been countless examples over time of individuals following the career path of success > fame > invincibility > shitty actions. This is all extremely disappointing to hear and I was especially looking forward to your video on him, too.
I think you should've put Lady Gaga as the example of Good Actress/Musician but its whatever.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Keanu. Apparently he played bass with The Vandals on tour.
Ryan Goslings band 'dead man's bones' were great. Did a bunch of stuff with kids choirs. Great project. Also great actor. Top right corner for sure.
yes!!! love demi and love seeing her getting some love, finally! thank you for this! loved this video
Would Lee Ving be an actor turned musician, or musician turned actor? Serious question as I'm not sure if he did acting before Fear
I think it's the latter.
I'm taking Jamie Foxx over every musician and actor on your list...
‘Mom no don’t turn it off…no they don’t swear…it was just a one time thing mom’ DEAD. 💀😂🤣
That pic of Jack in the thumbnail looks more like an actor in Snowtown 😂

Finn: that is one beautiful man.
Actress Juliette Lewis has done several rock albums, as well as a few guest appearances, most notably the prodigy album always outnumbered never outgunned
Top right is Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
Won Tony’s and Grammys for Book of Mormon.
$900mm for South Park.
These guys are legends
I really want to think he's joking about giving Johnny Depp a handy but deep down I know he's completely serious
I don't know Paris Hilton personally. She may work hard. My mom works pretty hard, too. I do think that being heir to the Hilton franchise did have a positive impact on her financial standing. I have three generations of family who work for Hilton hotels (one of them since before it was a Hilton). They work very hard. Again I don't know Paris, maybe she works as hard as Uncle Tim...
What’s your point?
Awesome video.
You forgot about Shaq. Kazaam and Shaq Diesel
this was a really funny one
That ending gave me a good laugh.
It should be a twitch dono sound or something if it isn’t already.
Wait Hollywood vampires came to Hellfest in France ?
It's in June btw. It was just 2 weeks ago
Lmfao oh man, my spouse is gonna crack up when I mention this “hotdog rock” to him, he always talks about the music at county fairs where we live, because like, 10 years ago there used to be bands that aren’t bad, but now they’re awful. That little term you made cracked me up. I remember explaining “butt rock” to him and he laughed so hard. I told him it’s basically what radio stations play when they say all the time “nothing but rock! 😆🤟🏻”
Have to do more of these! Mos Def!!
Is that hat from The Yard?
Love this video premise.
Crazy how I never knew Jared Leto was the 30secs singer like 2 years ago. Still kicking myself over that lmao
J Lo was Originally a Fly Girl on In Living Color (1990-1994).
How could you forget David Hasselhoff? ;-)
Seems as though you left out a lot of obvious choices, but I’ve got faith and I will wait until the next installment.
Interesting content as always.
Listen to Tenacious D's cover of Dio's 'The Last In Line'. A serious cover and Jack kills it on vocals.
Jack Black is up there with Freddie Mercury and Chris Cornell for my favorite vocalists. I absolutely adore Tenacious D. As an actor, I only ever liked him in High Fidelity. He’s played plenty of great roles, but he never did better than that lol
Finn you gotta listen to the Camp album by childish bambino. Probably my favorite album of all time tbh
