Couple things I forgot to mention in the vid: I am from NC so yes I was evaluated as in-state, and my class rank was ~110/640 (my HS was pretty competitive)
Do they recalculate your weight gpa?. I didn't take a AP class in my freshman year and they really messed my weighted gpa as a whole. So I am curious to see if they do it differently.
This is the must important info. As a parent, looking at our of state acceptance info. Think it’s a luck if draw even with higher SAT & GOA AND lots of XC , but we will see. Thanks for the video
Fellow UNC student here! How did you get to view your admission file? Did you contact unc admissions and asked for the admission file and can it be done virtually or only on campus?
Please do a video about out of state requirements with regard to Gpa, sat score, ap course, essay topics, early decisions and fees, scholarships. Thanks
Hahahah nah but the BC exam is curved super heavily so like 40% of people get 5s! Still not “easy” but I wouldn’t say it’s an automatic acceptance at all
Hey, I got mine today, I got 7,7,7,5 on those 4 categories, I actually only had one reader, she admitted me, and there is a second reader but its actually a major reader which decide if I can get into a specific major.
Hey Shiv! I'm applying to UNC early action and test optional from India... But I'm a US citizen and lived in NC for 10 years😂😂 I have pretty good grades... What do u think my chances are lmaaooo
The average act at UNC is 30, and it’s probably gonna increase with test optional. Do you have an SAT or any opportunity to retake the act? If not, then I’d personally say to not report it, but either way you go it shouldn’t have a big impact
hi! I have a question as an out-of-state applicant. do you think you would’ve been accepted with the same exact stats had you have been out of state? since the acceptance rate for out of state is so low.
Honestly...probably not. I'd say waitlist would have been much more likely and who knows from there. UNC is almost at an ivy level (or so I've heard) for out of state unfortunately
It’s not superrr hard but it’s definitely tougher than in state. I’ve heard some people say that getting into unc out of state is almost the same as getting into an ivy but I’m not sure how true that is
@@ShivNC Well I don’t want to be rude but it just seems crazy with the numbers that you stated (110/640 class rank, 10 b’s total throughout hs and whatnot) that you made it. Obviously you have no idea how exactly but yeah it’s just wild.
@@Luigi-xu5tw haha it’s a fair question, and as you saw one person recommended I get waitlisted so I barely got in. I think it came down to a few things though -not only academic rigor (took a bunch of APs in HS and took 2 fairly difficult classes at UNC before applying), but the fact that I *improved* throughout high school. Like most of the Bs I got sophomore year, but then I only got one B junior year with more difficult classes. -I thought my essays, particularly my personal statement, was solid and pretty unique -I was obviously in state so that makes it a little easier to get in. and unfortunately I think standards are a bit higher now overall than in 2019 -as much as I hate to say it, probably a bit of luck as well 🤷♂️

Hs freshman here: as an nc native and an unc fan my whole life i am really excited and proud for you. Also this video was very insightful
thank you so much for this! As a high school senior applying to college, this gave me a lot of insight and reassurance
of course, good luck with apps!
@@ShivNC thank you! I do have one question for you: do you think 1 letter of recommendation is sufficient, or should i submit 2?
Elizabeth Pham omg I just saw this sorry!! but if you have two that you think are solid, definitely submit both of them
@@ShivNC that's alright! I appreciate your response!
did u get in
"such a sexy man" was a comment left by Shivan's admissions officer as well
Can confirm
Haven’t even watched it yet, but I know I’m gonna like this

Another great vid shivvy!!
thank you so much! Very informative!

glad it was helpful, fingers crossed!!

Dropped out of UNC, making $72k/year. Meh. Good decision was made
Thanks a lot for this video!

This dude got a 5 on the CALCULUS BC test. If that isn’t an automatic acceptance into any college then I don’t know what is.

ap calc exam isn't that hard
Legit I got a 2 lmao
bruh do you not know how many 5s there are on calc bc its not exactly an olympic gold medal
@@kenlandon6130 😭Ok bud
Great video I really appreciate it. Also do you know if taking 8 AP’s but maintaining all A’s is rigorous enough?
I definitely would say so, 8 APs was more than average at my school and if you got As in all of them then you’re in good shape

great vid :)
Can you make a vid about the application process to the business school? That would help out a lot!
Mohsin Khan for sure man, but after I submit it myself 😅 just started my essays a week ago actually
@@ShivNC Shivan, did you get in to the b-school?
@@MohsinKhan-it9bb I didn’t :( but, I still recorded the entire application and talked about it, that vid should be up next week!
should I submit an ACT score of 29? or should I go test optional? I'm applying from out of state

hi! did you have any leadership positions in any of the clubs you were in?
SORRY i just saw this but nope! Surprisingly enough I didn't really have higher-up positions in any, so if you do, then that's even better!
Thanks I’ll try this
good luck 😂😂
