Same
Same, Les make something official. We support you.
Ha yes!!!! Take my money les!!!
He should be getting there himself. He sells a knife roll for $300. Without the knives.

Survivorman was ALWAYS the best survivor show on TV. Miss it.
#1 for sure. I like the first couple seasons of Alone also
Yea, I remember as a kid seeing a advert for Bear Grylls'... action show. I vividly remember him taking a bite out of a snake. Very cliché editing.
At that point, I decided to never watch Bear Grylls.
@@superdupergrover9857 yeah, I was done with bear when he pulled a snake out of a tree and said: look at those colors! So gorgeous! And then bit it in half.
1m subs and he'll do another survivorman episode
Captain obvious over here. 😊
When Les gets on his rant, I love it. 😂😂
IKR. "What's the likelyhood of finding a working lighter?"
In my youthful wonderings I found quite a few lighters, probably half of which still worked. The other guy (Mr. pissant) falsely trying to make others look like liars just makes himself look worse.
And this one was only while drinking a smoothie! 😂
I don't know why he responds to haters, it's kinda disappointing. He's the GOAT, no need to even acknowledge people like that lighter guy.
@@KingofCrusherwho’s the hater he’s ranting about?
@@adamlawson8206 No idea, probably just some dufus on youtube, lol.
Such a professional, likable, approachable, talented person. Been watching for decades!
As someone who is from Grenada, I've been waiting for the Grenada episodes since the start of the director's commentary series.
Yeah, i really been looking foreward to this one too, one of my favorites. He mentions that this one is like one of if not THE most watched episode. Its just so well done, in my humble opinion.
Love you Les, I’m 21 been watching you since I was super young. Always wanted to be a survivalist because of your inspiration. Thanks for all the great work you’ve done for everyone. We will always remember and appreciate you for it. You will always be THE survivor man.
The one thing I love about this show and others like it, is it demonstrates that the more knowledge you have, the less stuff you need to get by and make it back home.
As a veteran and former uncivilized country boy growing up in the boonies, I find Les Stroud to be the epitome of a survival expert.
I completely agree, I've loved it farming country towns, learned to swim in the mighty Columbia River.
Les is the top expert.
lol...
Lots of wisdom. I love these director's commentaries
Yes!
I agree, he’s the real McCoy
19:52 lighters are a relatively high-probability item to find on a shore:
1) they are prodigious and people often carry them in outside pockets
2) when near water people are often bending over, either to get water, deal with fish, get into or out of boats, etc, increasing the likelihood it would fall out of a pocket
3) they float
4) they are made of durable materials and are mechanically simple so there is little to break. Also, they float sparkwheel-side-down so the gas can’t escape.
I’ve found dozens of lighters on shores in various states, and a handful in working condition.
I have too. I especially love finding zippos and nice panther Martin lures. 👍
these commentary episodes are such a great way to re visit all the great episodes from my childhood
I’m 24 now and grew up watching Survivorman with my dad. Absolutely love it. Probably watched every episode 3 times. And now, consistently watch Luke with The Outdoor Boys. An awesome channel and can certainly learn a lot from him too. You are THE MAN, Les! 🤘👍
I like what you said about laying on the ground and looking at the trees. I do that in my yard when the weather is nice. It’s like zoning out in front of a fire - you just go somewhere else.
I love seeing Les when he is so happy to catch a fish
My boy, Young Fox, Manuel Fox put me on game with Les Stroud. One of the best gifts he ever gave me. ❤ You Fox!
Less Stroud is our legend. ❤❤❤❤❤
Les, I’ve been watching you for almost 20 years. I grew up with you on my TV and still revisit old episodes regularly to this day. Thank you for the entire Survivorman legacy, THE Survival expert on TV, and knew you were a REAL one since you even filmed everything yourself! (Screw that other fake guy!)
Also, I’ll say, who even knows this other Bear Grylls wannabe? Survivorman is a household name so screw them, Les!
@@theDegausser Lmao, really dude, that man ( Bear Grylls ) really lives in your head rent free huh, funny how everyone wants to rip on that guy, like he ( Bear ) really see those comments or even cares, just enjoy Les' videos without all that bs man
I’m going to miss these commentary’s, but I’m looking forward to all the new content that is coming. It’s really cool just to kick back and watch Les relax at his home, just talking about his life, past adventures, and what is next. I’d like to see Les bring in his buddy Bob on a video or two. That would be cool, “Chillin with Les & Bob”. 😎
Hell yeah. Cant wait to do commentary on the beyond survival…thats my favorite
I always love how excited les gets catching a fish
It's nice to hear a little positive word about Matt Graham. He's such a gentle, humble soul. Dual Survival can be pretty questionable, but Matt did present some honest teachable moments. Still, Les was the true survival master, that cannot be denied. I'd love to see more Survivorman, someday! :)
I liked Matt and I liked Cody as well, the others well I'll just leave it at that.
Any person that is a self proclaimed survivalist and doubts your work is a true clown. I Love these directors commentaries 👍
You can see clearly how the lighter would have floated, upside down, and got caught perfectly between those rocks during the high tide and a big wave. A beautiful scenario encapsulating the genuineness off this moment.
I've had sleep paralysis attacks many times! Mostly when I was working nights and my internal clock was all messed up. It's horrifying the first few times it happens, but once you understand that it's just some weird sleep phenomenon and it can't hurt you, it isn't so bad. I've had old women, demons, aliens, all sorts of creatures holding me down and saying creepy stuff, haha.
Same it's so freaky. I thought I was being abducted everytime
Same I only had it once. I already wrote the story as a comment so I won’t repeat it. Horrifying stuff. I can’t believe people have this regularly
Yeah I had about 4 episodes of sleep paralysis. Every time it was aliens grabbing my arm. All happened before age 18 and all happened when I was sleeping somewhere other than my own bed. This was in the 90's were alien movies and "captured footage" of spaceships was being shown on the TV all the time and I believed it was real. which probably played a big part in the psych I experienced while having an episode of sleep paralysis.
@@jwade4916 Definitely! I'm happy to believe that aliens exist and all that, but when it comes to experiences of being abducted out of bed, I have to imagine that those people were really just having sleep paralysis.
That's what the old women, demons, aliens and other creatures want you to think.... 😮
Been on a survivorman kick!! Thanks for all your hard work over the years dude :)
One of my faves. We need a petition for another season of survivorman, even if its all local in canada i would be so down. Maybe revisit some early locations?
These commentaries will keep me satisfied but will never end my hunger for more!!!
I cant say it enough. So grateful for you Less and i so much appreciate you allowing us to see all your content here on UA-cam. Also...with the lighter... awesome point. Even if it was set up, you sir need no lighter to start a fire. You're the real deal my friend. Keep on keeping on.
You are a legend, sir, and I'm so thrilled to discover you're active on UA-cam.
I like the episodes with a full survival kit, you can show us the various ways to use the items we may not have thought of.
Let's go! 1 Million Subs!
I've been a fan since the very beginning. And I always knew that you'd never FAKE anything ever.😊❤ In my opinion, the best survival show that ever existed on TV.
I don't remember what episodes, but one time I years ago when i was sick and I watched an entire marathon of a Les Stroud all that day.😊😊😊😊😊😊🤒
Editors note: make shorts of Les's smack talk to other survivalists and if they choose to respond when Les hits a million we get a survival showdown. That. Would. Blow. Up.
Hey Les, you should do survivor man commentary episode. Where you talk about every single creepy story. You've ever dealt with while filming survivor man. That would be such a dope episode. I think the view count would be off the charts.
It’s not a Les Shroud directors commentary without a few things
1. “You sweat, you die” line
2. “This guy sure knows what he’s talking about”
3. One camera battery must die, it’s tradition at this point.
Les, three generations enjoy watching you in my family. That's what I call relevance and reach.
The old woman thing you were talking about is called sleep paralysis. I only had it once when I was 24 during a very stressful time in grad school. Most horrifying experience in my life. I couldn’t move, only my eyes could look around at the ceiling, and I heard this raspy breathing creature crawling around the floor near my bed. I felt it grip the mattress with claws and crawl up onto the bed, always just right out of my view as I was stuck staring at the ceiling unable to move. Its raspy breathing as it crawled around by my feet I will never forget. I never saw the creature, which I’m thankful for. I finally forced myself to jerk awake after 5 minutes of this creature making weird gibberish raspy mouth noises and I was drenched in sweat. Hasn’t happened again since.
This was probably my favorite episode. Happy you finally did a DC on it!
Please make more episodes i will gladly pay to watch them!
This was one of my favorite shows, I love these directors commentary, thank you for all the good memories
Been watching survivorman for 20 years. Love the content Les. Definitely need to do more bigfoot content as well!
I'd love to see a new one
Hadn't thought about your personal life until you brought up the pleasure of your current dating life... it was after you mentioned how much your divorced affected you... hell yea, glad to see you happy Les
That is my favorite Survivor Man episode because it's the most relaxing interesting and it has rain in it so that's a win-win for me
I absolutely love that. I used to have sit spots with my groups too. Probably the only time they were immersed in silence the entire time.
30:00 sleep paralysis, i got it once camping on the porch of my bosses cabin a month after he died. I heard the gate open and footsteps on the porch, then the tent wall was pushed into my face and i could not move for what felt like ages and was having a full blown silent panic attack then suddenly i heard an exhale and it went away. the crazy thing was when i told my friends about it in the morning; they said they heard the gate open and someone walking around but thought it was me... but the gate had a lock on it and we did not have the key. pretty sure old man Jim was just protecting his property. i also had some late nights by myself building metal fittings at our shop where the locked filing cabinets would open and we have a few times on the security cameras where we could see the bathroom door open and the light would turn on. The body is limited; the spirit sometimes seems to stick around.
If the world collapses on itself and i sonehow live through all that....ilI atleast have the knowledge ive learned from survivorman to make it a few more months haha. Thanks for these commentaries les!
17:50 - missed opportunity Les, to splice in a clip of you finding a pristine, unopened pkg of BIC lighters you bought at a Canadian Tire or something, superimposed over the rocky beach scene 😂😂
Hey Les, I"ve watched every episode. Learned alot! Thank You for giving us AWSOME and useful info😊The Book is WOUNDERFUL💟❗
Hell yeah new survival man episodes. let's roll
Love these! Thanks Les.
Another great Directors Commentary! Thank you for doing these....I think they are my favorite.
Love the commentaries! A good excuse for me to watch these again 😎
Love it when these come out! Keep content coming Les! We love it!
What an absolute legend. You are one of my top favorite humans. Just gunna have to deal with it, Les!
Oh I love your directors commentaries! Always a joy to hear all that backstories! The paranormal one in this episode in particular. The being that you had to deal with there. Your description of it let's me think of something we call "Aufhocker", "Alb" or "Nachtalb" here in Germany. The German word for nightmare ('Alb'traum) comes from it. Maybe the 'mare' part in the word night'mare' means something similar. I remember one encounter. I first saw it in a kind of dream as it crawled into my room. It pulled down my blanket and grabbed my arm with could spider like fingers. I still felt that physically as I fully woke up and I can still see that misty like shadow in the corner over my bed. I used a lot of burning herbs and my sword that night before I was able to go back to bed and sleep again.
That was reeeeaaaly creepy!🙈
Hey man, thank you very much, I enjoy the hell out of this, I don't have enough avagitives to explain how much I enjoy this documentary directors cut commentary. ( Keeping it clean so I don't sound rude.)😊
Longest video so far? I love these long ones
I totally agree with you on the plastic Les. We give all of our attention to the atmosphere and almost none at all to all of the plastic on our beaches, riverbanks, and highways. We are polluting in all sorts of small ways that seem insignificant but they add up
Love you and the knowledge that i learn from watching you.Cheers from the states ❤
Love your commentary on your videos. Been watching your content for at least over a decade and I still love watching it to this day. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Would love to meet you someday. Thanks Les!
Hey Les, looking good my man! The years have been kind to you. Hope you're well and thanks for all the content.
You are absolutely the best that the ‘survivor reality’ genre has to offer. You are an absolute joy. I am a sax player and I am also blown away by your musicianship. Thank you so much for the wisdom you’ve lovingly given the world over the years, and for me, as early as my last high school years to my 40th year of life.
I just want to say thanks again for doing these Les. Survivorman is my all-time favorite show and this is an extremely enjoyable way to rewatch the old shows.
Looking forward to this.
what a brilliant way to end my week.. A beer and a new directors commentary! I know i'm in for a treat when its over an hour and a half. LETS GOOOOOO!
I know you have decades of experience with talking to a camera, but these always feel like a conversation with a friend. Thanks!
Les, you're an incredible person. I loved watching Survivor man every time I came back from school and tuned in to Discovery. Finding you on UA-cam was awesome and I binge-watched all the director's commentary. They were amazing!
Huge fan! Love the commentaries.
Its 21:47 on a friday eve back here in Lithuania Mr.Les Stroud :) Welcome you too and thank you verry much for your unique content!!!
I've learned so much watching him over the many years and love to test out my skills after watching these episodes and learning all these techniques
Thank you Les. I appreciate all you have done in sparking my interest in wilderness and survival all those years ago.
Was awesome meeting you in Vancouver Les! I mentioned i watch all of your directors commentaries and this is yet another great one!
Awesome! Much love Stroud
Love this episode! Damn I love them all!!! Only way to watch it is with the commentary!
I was there Less! All those years ago.... when it aired :D I'm watching now to hear the stories!
Don't feed the trolls Les.... You don't need too.
Hey Les, referencing your creepy story, I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I've had the same thing happen a few times in my life. Mine was more of "something" choking me, especially when I was lying on my stomach. I had "woken" up swinging and yelling as well. Thank you for that story cuz know I don't feel like I'm the only one having ever gone through it. Been watching you from the very beginning and will ALWAYS watch you for as long as you keep making content.
Part of your story reminds me of a friend who had a four post bed with railings. One night the railings failed, and fell on top pf them, and they woke up swinging and screaming thinking someone was attacking them.
Love these
Thanks Les, always appreciate your videos and survival books. I got into mountain climbing and backpacking in the Cascade range such as Mt Shasta, Mt Hood etc and your videos always helped myself make smarter decisions.
New sub. I didn’t know you had a channel! I have always loved/ admired your energy, intelligence, honest spirit, and skill set. Thank you! Cannot wait to binge watch. ❤️ from Vermont
Les you are a very nice man. Thank you for your dedication 🥰🥰🥰
You were always a role model since I was small
Love it Les!!!
Screw you "Piss Ant". Les Stroud is the real Survivorman. He does not fake shit! Another peek into what was going through your mind while doing one of my favorite episodes. It's cool to here from you years later filling in the blanks of what went on back then! PS to the "Piss Ant" lol, try the stuff bear grylls does in the wilderness and you'd most likely die. Thanks Les for another DC. keep them coming, and eventually Beyond Survival.
Not all heroes wear capes. Some play harmonicas. Love and light to ya always les.
1:41:20 - lol funny you're saying that, I pulled up the Google Earth of Frigate Island, Grenada early in this video to see if I could match your scenery with the location on the island via the map... pretty sure you started out on the southern face, and then moved inland/toward the sandy beach on the northern face but not certain.
Great episode Les. This show is literally legendary
Les is the best bc he always brings a small amount of ganja for every adventure.. In order to help with tuning in an h nature. And I also do this for all my hikes and national park adventures
These directors commentaries are so much fun!
No one does it better than Les. God bless
Almost 800k, hoping we get more Survivorman before ya get old on us! Take me with you!
I get older, but Survivorman stays the same age! One of the few celebrities, people even, that I'd entrust my life to.
Been watching Survivor Man since it was on Discovery. The thoughtful, slow, diligent approach to situations always made more sense to me then the crazy run through the jungle of Grills.
Hi Les, thank you for your dedication to produce quality content over the years. 👏🏻
You are a legend for putting these on UA-cam. Lets go 1 Million subs you deserve it! I grew up watching survivor man and its because of your Colorado episode that I learned you can eat dandelions and I have from then on let them grow and harvested them for food.
Les Stroud is the man.
Les you are the best survivorman to ever live , so with that said you letting the little chick go just proves your the best survivorman to ever live with a big heart .. And God gave you that fish as a reward for that little sacrifice you made . 😊
Yeah! Nice shout out to the Outdoor Boys UA-cam channel.
Hey Les, thank you for the years of contribution to your crafts! I've been wondering, what key is your harmonica usually in during your survival expeditions?
It’s funny that he says “cliche” right when Peter Cliche’s name comes up on the screen at the end.
If you liked that egg, try the balut in Philippines. We love you here. Perfect place to do another episode, thousands of islands to choose from. Make it happen Les!
So cool that you made your own balut!
Ive found perfectly intact lures and flies for fishing deep in the bush before, even useable tools like needle nose pliers, some hatchets, hammers, knives, a decent oil stone for sharpening. Lots of garbage or abandoned stuff everywhere like you said
Sharing this with everyone I know to get this to 1 million subs.
Just recently began watching all these commentaries and loving them. Regretfully, as a child in Scotland I got swept into the whole Bear Grylls schtick that was heavily pushed and marketted at the time in the UK awhen I was around 12ish years old, it seemed exciting and wild, and to my ignorant eyes real. Again, regretfully, as a child I remember seeing Survivorman on Sky TV and not liking it as much, because it awsn't as "exciting" in the eyes of a child.
But that changed over time when I realised how much of a conman Man vs Wild and the whoel "Bear" persona was and fell out of love for him too.
Almost 20 years later and I'm now very much into my wild camping and hiking, and in the back of my head recently when me and a friend were joking about Bear Gryll's we both had a "wait who was that other guy on TV we used to see sometimes?" and eventually remembered Survivorman.
This led to me looking you up and finding this channel. And while 12 year old me might not have had the attention span, 30 year old me is absolutely in love your your cinimatogrophy, knowledge, and authentisity. It's now been a common thing for me and my wife to put on your commentary at dinnertime or even late evening (my wife says you have a very calming voice 😂
I don't know where I was going with this, other than to say I'm glad I managed to eventually appreciate all you've done, and I'm even more glad you're still to this day producing inciteful, authentic content. Keep on being you, Les.
I LOVED Surviorman as a kid, then I saw Man vs Wild episode and I remembered thinking how Les literally taught us to never risk a stupid injury so I never bought into it. It was an episode where Bear said it would be a good idea to use seal blubber hide for warmth while swimming in shark infested waters. Now, I know sharks aren't like so many claim, but that seems like a seriously stupid idea to do around sharks
@@vision821k4Greenland sharks are slow but incredibly dangerous
@@micklaws5520 We don't have a single incident recorded with greenland sharks attacking humans, let alone killing them- except for one supposedly "leg" that was found in it's stomach that's pretty much been debunked at this point.
@@vision821k4 I would say wrapping seal blubber around yourself for warmth when swimming in arctic waters may be a first Greenland Shark Attack. That said, and I spent three years of my life at Thule,Greenland, wrapping yourself in seal blubber after killing and taking apart a seal will send the scent all over creation and Polar bears are not discerning in their choice of meals.
@@vision821k4 Blubber and human wrapped in it= body of animal plus human wrapped in blubber makes a person a lure. If not for a Greenland shark that eats seals but polar bears that love two leggers
