I agree. As a gay man, I have always found Doctor Who, both inclusive and broadminded. It was story and character driven (if you take out the poorly written Chibnall episodes, which are easily forgotten). When the 13th Doctor started, I kept an open mind, but it soon became clear, that the legacy of this amazing show, had been shat on. Doctor Who is DEAD, because even if there is a man playing the lead role again, it will not be the Doctor. The doctor Died at the end of series 10, when he fell out of the Tardis while regenerating and was lost forever. The diabolical race the Chib-nel, did what the Daleks, cyber men and even the combine dark forces of the seven galaxies could not do. They not only destroyed the doctor, they destroyed his myth, his legend and legacy, they even poisoned the very memory of him. There was some fan fiction after series 10, but nothing canon, and nothing good. As Terry Nation once wrote, in the first episode of Blake's 7 "It is not enough to kill a hero, you must disgrace him, degrade him and make his very name unspeakable. You must utterly destroy him."
This is an excellent summary of the past four years of Doctor Who's failures Bowlestrek. If anyone questions why old school fans hate the current show, they should just watch this video.
Personally I am fine accepting that Capaldi regenerated, and that the Doctor kept on going into more adventures. But I refuse to acknowledge that he regenerated into Whittaker and that the Chibnall era is Canon. At this point they should have the Doctor accidently regenarate into a kid, that would at least give some context as to why the Thirteenth Doctor seems so immature, in he sense that it doesn't feel like Thirteen has a very difficult past and has fought in wars. With Ten and Eleven you could see that the Doctor was old and tired (not all the time of course). But it just doesn't work here.
I still maintain that never in the classic series did a time lord “transform” as part of his or her regeneration. The story line now seems to seek to destroy the “history” of Dr.Who and time lords in general. Very disappointing that so many show runners and writers are so “woke” , and I don’t mean that in the dictionary definition.

I can't see it recover especially if Chibnell has anything to do with choosing the next Doctor. Let's hope the likes of Babylon 5 doesn't get a reboot during the present pc climate
Maybe 5-8 years ago I would have give anything to see a Babylon 5 reboot. But after Star Trek Discovery + Picard, Terminator reboot films, Star Wars sequels and many woke shows like Batwoman I would do anything to not let these woke fanatics take their dirty, hateful hands on it.
I don't think that we have anything to worry about. Joe Straczynski has said on multiple occasions that as the rights holder of Babylon 5 he has no intention of producing any project unless it's something that he's excited about, but more importantly it would have to be something that he believes that the fans would want to see.

Chris Chibnall was paid by the BBC to destroy Dr Who. He's not incompetent as a writer. The BBC is there to promote social change and alter the train of thought of the public and those of a younger generation who this show message is directed at. Ultimately, the BBC can do what they want with Dr Who. The BBC is there to serve the greater agenda that's being pushed out across the board. None of this will end until the objective is met fully.
Thank you for this. The ranting videos are fun, but the sad disappointment in your voice echoes just how I'm feeling. Doctor Who is so close to dead for me, I don't think I can come back to it. I've been a fan since second season Pertwee, and this silly little franchise took me through some dark times in my life. But now, I feel like I've lost an old friend. The classic series has been poisoned beyond repair for me, I can barely bring myself to watch it. The very thing that should have helped through the lockdowns and loosing my business actually made it worse.

In my house BBC America (barely) survived the firing of Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear. It didn't survive the first season of Doctor Jody. I still have my Doctor 9-12 dvd collections and the original series streaming. It would be fantastic to have a new Doctor that would give us that sense of wonder and adventure that has totally disappeared from the current incarnation. But it obviously would have to be someone outside of the BBC to do it.

I enjoyed about half of the Matt Smith era, though I enjoyed Smith's version of the Doctor. I thought Peter Capaldi made an excellent Doctor, but most of the stories they did with him were rather rubbish (wasted talent, though his speech in the Zygon episode when he is trying to take the Zygon down from pushing the button is my favorite Doctor Who speech ever). I haven't watched anything since then and have no desire to do so. The slide has been going on before Whitaker, she just pushed what was left over the cliff.
i remember the female character in The God Complex she had more of a story in 10 minutes than Yaz has had in 2 years and she was a very very good actress t.
Bravo , well said, as a long term fan of the show for over 50 years just as the damage has been done it can be undone with good writing and producer and production team, let’s hope that after The Chibnal years that we get people with the passion to restore the wreckage left behind? Maybe by then the Dr will restart his Generation from the end of Capaldi and we find out out that it was all just the Doctors nightmare and he wakes up and continues as the 13th Doctor and stick it back up them as to what the fans want. Thanks for your video, you only said what we have been thinking. The question is how long do we have to put up with this rubbish?
The other night my brother & I watched Doctor Who and the Silurians from Pertwee's first season. We both remarked at how this story, made over 50 years ago with a small budget and limited technical resources, stands head and shoulders over ANYTHING the modern series has offered. That's because of tiny, unimportant things like good writing, good acting and good direction, which beat big budget CGI special effects and laboured identity politics hands down every time. "Silurians" had an exciting, well thought out plot, an energetic and charismatic Doctor, a moral dilemma that he ultimately fails to resolve, wonderful atmosphere, and interesting supporting characters. There is even a strong, empowered female character (Liz Shaw), who holds her own without hitting you over the head with her gender or her capabilities. And the Silurians' killer virus - intended to wipe out the human race - unintentionally echoes the current Coronavirus pandemic. In short, Doctor Who and the Silurians is everything NuWho is not, and is just one example of why the Classic Series is the REAL Doctor Who, and the pathetic drivel that goes out under the DW banner nowadays is best ignored. So I simply don't watch it...
For what it is worth, you are not hated by me, never were and never will be, you had the balls to say the truth and the courage to go out and publicly say it.
When I saw the trailer for Jodie as the doctor I was excited, I was thinking like you and many others that a female doctor would be a cool new breath of life to the show. Boy was I proven wrong in a matter of three episodes. Now I can’t even look at the 13th doctor, she repelled me every time I looked at any video about her or the show, I wish they had kept the essence alive of what it was and could have been. But like all things the times corrupt it, so in a few short words to Jodie and Doctor Who, GOODBYE!
While I've enjoyed the angry ranting, I had forgotten how much I appreciated the calm logical breakdowns of the shows you had done in the past as they were what initial hooked me.
I find it interesting how, at the end, the cover of the magazine not only features Jodie and Yaz, but also has a FRONT COVER story praising Kill The Moon. I'm not sure how....but I feel that's appropriate.
Kill the Moon's a great episode. When Clara and the Doctor have their fight at the end, both have completely valid points. Clara felt abandoned, which she was because the Doctor outright left her in a highly stressful situation without offering any support. On the other hand, the Doctor was trying to help Clara take responsibility in order to become stronger. I personally side with Clara on the issue but the episode never tries to tell you which character you're supposed to agree with. At the end, Danny listens to Clara's explanation about what happened as a completely neutral party, acknowledging why Clara was upset but also advising her to take some time to calm down and process why the Doctor treated her like that instead of trying to validate her perspective. And Clara was willing to take that advice. You know what, looking back now, both Capaldi's Doctor and Danny were the kind of alpha males that we wish were still common in modern media, which in Danny's case is somewhat ironic when you remember that his last name was Pink.
Bravo Sir, very well said. Having watched the show since 1973 as a 4 year old, with eyes wide with wonder at the presence of Jon Pertwee. Then from in my opinion the greatest of Doctors Tom Baker. My viewing continued as I grew up, even when the show went into decline, it still had some stories that are now seen as classics, then came cancellation. I then preceeded to keep both the BBC in funds and the name Dr Who alive purchasing, video cassettes upgrading to the next Gen physical media, books, magazines, all kinds of memorabilia with my hard earned wage. For those that run the BBC, and this abomination that calls itself Dr Who, all that cash and loyalty mean absolutely zero, proving they care nothing for the fan base that kept the identity, name and show alive. I didn't leave Dr Who, Who left me. Thankfully I have my already purchased classic series physical media to remind me of that wide eyed 4 year-old I once was until the shows cancellation in 1989.

You spoke my thoughts and feelings perfectly, Bowlestrek. I couldn't have put it better. It's such a shame what they did to this wonderful show. Thank you for being brave and exposing yourself to the hatred and intolerance of those that support what they are doing to this TV show and many like it, in order to get the message out. Keep up the great work!
The only way they could even theoretically fix the series would be to retcon it so that the female "Doctor" is actually the Rani pretending to be the Doctor, and everything that happened since she swapped places with The Doctor has been part of a scheme.
@@rockstermaniac Not really. Just a Transmat device used at the moment the doctor regenerated, combined with the kind of "Memory Wipe" The Master used to survive the Time War, and it makes more sense than The Timeless Child.

For me, Dr Who ended with the curator talking with Matt Smiths Doctor, wearing a favourite old face, in his retirement. Pan out to a vista of all the Doctors (no sign of another 3976 before Hartnell), Doctor at peace with himself in retirement, show ends. No disrespect to Peter as he did his best with some poor scripts, but, I’m happy to believe it all ended with Old Tom.
I still enjoy Doctor Who, as for me it ended at Capaldi’s regeneration. I just refuse to acknowledge that the Jodie Whittaker Doctor ever existed . I still buy the classic blu ray box collections and have everything up to the end of Capaldi’s run. I have not bought any merchandise with this current Doctor and I believe that’s why the BBC still rely on the classic era for sales as the new stuff just doesn’t sell and can be found in bargain bins everywhere. I will only start watching new Who If they retcon this new era and continue on from Capaldi ( Who by the way I thought was a fantastic Doctor and could have been even greater with better scripts).
I feel the exact same way. Doctor Who goes from Hartnell to Capaldi. To me Capaldi was the most fulfilled version of the Doctor. You can see that he has come a very long way to get here. Unfortunately he was stuck with Clara and some bad story scripts for his two first Series. But even then, Capladi proved himself up to the challenge. The Only was I can see the show being salvaged. Cancel it for several years, then when you bring it back, retcon everything after Peter Capaldi Aston canon, or some horrible fever dream The Doctor had while regenerating. Then continue from after the 12th/14th Doctor and on. That's still stretching it though, because I don't even think that would be enough to bring back the fans and restore the good will with them.
Sadly it would never happen. It would mean the BBC execs would have to admit they had made a series of terrible blunders both in hiring and creative decisions as well as marketing and PR. However, as you continue to watch through his era, you start to see the True Doctor within him shine through. He becomes a kinder doctor, learns to have a witty sense of humor, and even cry’s when Companions he originally didn’t care for (Ian, Barbara, and Steven) leave him. @@TFFgeek I’m not saying other Doctor’s don’t have an arc, it’s just that Hartnell’s made him the Doctor we know, and his personality isn’t as dull as others. Personally, I really think how much a doctor develops is quite important, as what’s their point if they are the same as when they started.
This bit is so true. We have every DVD but no Jody rubbish. The doctor died with Capaldi for us. We used to be proud to have a tardis in our dinning room. But now we are embarrassed. When watching the classics, everyone is involved, race, gender, etc. It’s now just horrible.
I think the best way to try to resurrect the doctor is to go back and use footage from the last scene with Capaldi and have him regenerate into a new Doctor, removing the Jody Whittaker series from the timeline.

It was an orgie in blunt statements, that left nothing to the audience in terms of reflection, analysis or after thought. it was wasn't storytelling, it was just announcing, announcing in a condescending step-mother kind of way. It became boring, one dimensional and insulting to the intellect. So yes, Chibnall took a once great concept, and raped it, spat on it, and then served it up, as if we were going to think that lukewarm sick is somehow beef Wellington......

I'm NOT gay, but this was so well written. Bravo.
Here here. Appalling what they did. BBC have been really daft in my opinion.

Wittiker is too light weight , Alex Kingston ( river song?) would've been perfect, an actress who knows her trade and is forceful . . . what a pity .
I started with the show with David Tenant, just before David Smith became the Doctor. Those times were awesome. After Jodi became the Doctor went downhill. I don't blame the actors, I blame the people in charge of the show. They took a great show we all enjoyed and ruined it.

Capaldi decided that he wanted the role when he was a kid. It couldn't have mattered to anyone more than him. And even with some really bad scripts, he still did an amazing job. I think he is my favorite Doctor. He feels like the most fulfilled, complete version of the character to me.
Personally I always loved his Doctor. To me the problem during his era was the script, and more specifically Clara.
I loved Clara in series 7. Yes, was a plot device, but she was likable. But from the very first episode of series 8 she became just horrible. All of a sudden she was a control freak, she was violent, a liar, and very selfish and self centered. All the traits that a companion shouldn't have.
In the Doctor's place I would have thrown her out.
But that's just my opinion.

I am an old school fan, since '73. I do not hate the show. I am more a fan than ever.
Peter Capoldi Doctor never regenerated in my book. Cannon rewritten. Pissed on the past.

I was initially very happy and even excited to see the first female doctor, I thought it could be done well if written correctly. But it wasn't, right up to the point that she started in on white people and how it was all our fault. I really, really hope Chris gets the boot and soon.
The funny thing is the doctor, even the first doctor, celebrated differences and was never a sexist little prick like shittactors is.
They killed it with identity politics, bad scripts and worse acting. It was one of the best shows of my childhood.
I will never forgive them.
I hope you’re back for good. You’ve been missed.
Outstanding and very informative video. Liked and shared.
When I was young my dad said I’d grow out of Dr?. I said it’d never happen. That there was nothing which could make me loose faith and stop watching. Well done Chibs. You achieved the impossible.
I've grown out of it several times. But I always come back. Not any more.
Bring back Jon Pertwee.
I know he's dead, but he'd still be better than the current Doctor.

Thank you for putting into words what I've felt for this incarnation and new production team.
I stop watching after 'arach in uk' after capaldi last season i couldn't take it anymore, i just watch your videos to see the history of my once favorite show demice.
@@katherinestives940 the stories during Peters time may of been bad but it was nowhere near as bad as series 11 or 12
i remember the female character in The God Complex she had more of a story in 10 minutes than Yaz has had in 2 years and she was a very very good actress t.
Didn't you want her to stay SOOO BAD? That's good writing/acting.
She's good in The Darjeeling Limited too.
Yep 👍
Now that's how you write a female character, (without identity politics)
A much better, more realistic character for sure! Yaz is the same character, but with the depths removed.
The question is how long do we have to put up with this rubbish?
i love how the new doctor literally looks like a karen
Extremely well said, extremely will presented, and we do miss you and your videos
Tried to watch it, just couldn't get through it. Didn't even finish her first year. Happy to go back and watch the old shows though
Thank you for speaking for us and telling it exactly how it is. #RIPDoctorWho
Thank you for coming back sir.

To ruin this beautiful, wonderful show SOOOO completely feels criminal.
We love you bowlstreck ❤️
While I've enjoyed the angry ranting, I had forgotten how much I appreciated the calm logical breakdowns of the shows you had done in the past as they were what initial hooked me.
"Sometimes the Louder You Shout the Less People Will Hear You"
I find it interesting how, at the end, the cover of the magazine not only features Jodie and Yaz, but also has a FRONT COVER story praising Kill The Moon.
I don't even feel anything anymore. I'm just numb.
You spoke the truth...if people don't like the truth, its on them....not you.

Because you realize he cares
I prefer when he speaks in a calm voice. He doesn't sound so petty and immature. Actually sounds like he's being constructive. I don't agree with him, for the most part, but here, I can respect him.
You spoke my thoughts and feelings perfectly, Bowlestrek. I couldn't have put it better. It's such a shame what they did to this wonderful show. Took something wonderful and filled it with hatred and mediocrity to the point it is unwatchable. I suspect there are many who feel the same, but don't want to suffer the insults and denigration for speaking our mind about a TV show. Thank you for being brave and exposing yourself to the hatred and intolerance of those that support what they are doing to this TV show and many like it, in order to get the message out. Keep up the great work!
The only way they could even theoretically fix the series would be to retcon it so that the female "Doctor" is actually the Rani pretending to be the Doctor, and everything that happened since she swapped places with The Doctor has been part of a scheme.
that would be seriously difficult to make logical sense
@@rockstermaniac Not really. Just a Transmat device used at the moment the doctor regenerated, combined with the kind of "Memory Wipe" The Master used to survive the Time War, and it makes more sense than The Timeless Child.

Also having Doctor Who end with the final Doctor we see regenerate while encountering his first incarnation who is also regenerating is beautifully poetic.

Sadly I too can no longer get excited about the new shows. The only ones that I can look back on and enjoy are the ones before Chibnall took the helm. Lets hope that when the Doc regenerates it is back to what it used to be.
Only way it could continue is either a retcon of the timeless child, or a total and complete reboot.
None of them would do that because it would be too humiliating. After the series fails for a few more years and Big Finish crashes and burns they'll just find something else to destroy.

I'm interested to know why Hartnell is your favorite Doctor. 🙂
@@TFFgeek I’m very happy to explain. To me Hartnell is my favorite Doctor because when he starts off, he is nothing like the doctor. He’s rude to Ian and Barbara, doesn’t want to help people in the places they land, and only cares for Susan and Himself. However, as you continue to watch through his era, you start to see the True Doctor within him shine through. He becomes a kinder doctor, learns to have a witty sense of humor, and even cry’s when Companions he originally didn’t care for (Ian, Barbara, and Steven) leave him. For me, it’s the arc Hartnell goes through that makes him my favorite.
@@nathandompke4654 Allright. Thanks for the explanation. 🙂 Very good reasoning there. And you felt all the others Doctors lacked such a transformative arch?
As Bowlestrek says, Jodie isn't the Doctor, she is Doctor Nasty.
@@TFFgeek I’m not saying other Doctor’s don’t have an arc, it’s just that Hartnell’s made him the Doctor we know, and his personality isn’t as dull as others. Other doctor’s do have compelling character arcs, 12’s makes him my second favorite.
