I was so touched by *all* the appearances of various past Doctors and companions throughout the special. Although I don't have a particular favourite, the Fifth and Seventh incarnations (hologram form) briefly reuniting with Tegan and Ace nearly had me in tears. And what's symbolic about Ian's cameo was that he, as one of the earliest companions, specifically asked Dan (the latest to debut) the very question about "her".
It was really touching seeing Colin and Paul in this. I honestly think neither of them were given a fair chance on screen - 8 should have had the War Doctor role in 'Day of the Doctor'.
Yup. 8 never really had a companion as the Grace character and the other guy (I forgot his name) never really travelled with him and of course is the only 'incumbent' not to have a series. He literally screams 'the forgotten doctor' and was RTD's original intention for the War Doctor which would've been better than sticking an incarnation between 8 and 9 making things messy. Now we have 2 incarnations with less than an hour of screen time. Obviously this would be messed up further more with the Timeless Children as well. For me, not getting McGann to be the War Doctor after Eccleston refused to return is one of the biggest mistakes made in the show's history.
I do appreciate the characterisation of the 13th Doctor and I also believe it was a good casting choice, it's just the writing and directing was wayyyy off
Honestly out of all the companions I think she’s the last person who’d need the support group. Everyone else either couldn’t let go or had trouble readjusting leading to them leading odd lives, Sarah-Jane just slipped right back into journalism and worked earth defence on the side, she was one of the few companions who got closure thanks to 10 visiting her frequently and having that one adventure with 11
@@mrcritical6751 Martha and Mickey not being there, is because they are fully active like Sarah Jane was. Always investigating rumours of issues. Of course, Captain Jack has Torchwood to work with......
Two things running through my head. 1) In the companions support group there’s an empty chair. Is that meant for Sarah-Jane? 2) How did Mel get back into her own time and place?
At the end of Dragonfire it was said that Glitz was heading to Earth as he offered to drop Ace off. Only a matter of time, and Mel (at least in the audios not as much in the TV show) was always resourceful; shes make it back in time. Thou I love what they did with her in the Season 24 box set promo, Id let that be canon.
Was it just my imagination, or did anyone else pick up on potential chemistry between Ace and Graham when they were together? On first viewing of PotD I could almost imagine them being together and having their own spin-off, maybe working for Kate.
I'm hoping The Seventh Doctor opens up to ace on why he was the way he was towards her since Big Finish have teased that we are exploring the final days of The Seventh Doctor
The perfect ending to the support group would be the 15th Doctor sitting in the room the whole time. In the end when he was asked his name, he would cheekily reply …”Oh me? I’m just The Doctor.” (Close credits)
As a teenager I watches random bits of Tom Baker's incarnation. I didn't know anything about the history or regeneration, and because I could only catch it on reruns on the local PBS station, never caught it in order or saw the longer arch of everything, but I did enjoy it. I only found out about the 2005 reboot several years after it came out, but I started watching it (I think on Netflix) and I have since watched EVERY single one (some multiple times) - I've even gone and bought all the DVD sets. I got the Eccelston/Tennant, Smith, and Capaldi all at once, and then Whittaker once it was available. The whole thing is such an epic saga of a story (multiple sagas inf act) I know some people take issue with parts by a particular producer or director, or don't like some of the writing, or some of the topics. But its ALL Dr Who, and it always will be. I will watch it until the end (either of me, or of the show, whichever comes first)
@telfontim Kate: "Is that Jack and why is he being chased by a woman with a knife?!" Random voice: "Leela no what did we say about stabbing people at the meeting?"
It'd be fun to hear what Mel's been up to all this time. Where did she travel? What happened to Glitz? And how did she find her way back to Earth for the reunion?
Id have loved if they had Tennant, Smith and Capaldi here too, wonder if they could find someone similar enough to Troughton and Pertwee too like they have for the 1st doctor

I think my favorite part about the doctor support group is there is 100% like a handful more companions who couldve shown up and just didnt its very funny
Frazer Hines who played Jamie is still alive and kicking. But then they’d have to explain how he got to the 21st Century. But if anyone needed a support group it would have been him. 😊
It would have been awesome to see Frazer return as Jamie, but we have to remember that he was from 1746 Scotland, and at the end of the War Games Part 10, the High Council of Time Lords returned to his original time, without his memories of his adventures with the Doctor, it would have been cool to Jamie return, same with Zoe, I would have also loved to seen Romana OK return for the special, played by Lalla Ward
@@amymariekennedy7954 Apparently Jamie and Zoe's memories have been restored. The framing stories for the edited versions of some Classic Who stories they did last year are canon.

Brave Heart Tegan, that line was so iconic to the 5th Doctor, I always felt her exit was oddly anticlimactic so the Daleks kill some people and she decides to do a runner, it was rather out of character in my opinion.
That is fair. Honestly, I saw it as with everything she went through since she met the Doctor (losing her aunt, Adric's death, etc.) maybe the events in Resurrection of the Daleks were for a lack of a better term the straw that broke the camel's back.
I really hope that we start getting more returns of previous companions and possible multi doctor stories. I'd kind of also like to see more of Unit especially Osgood who definitely needs to make a return.

I wish we saw Martha, an old version of Amy and Rory and Bill(those are the only people who can come back and you may be thinking about Clara but she died so she should stay there and not come back, also also bill didn’t die)
Would’ve been nice to see Martha, but Amy and Rory would be dead at this point in time, and technically bill is dead because testimony took her form in Twice upon a time and they only take the form of people who are dead

It's like the Americanized version of Red Dwarf that didn't go anywhere. I'm not even sure if that pilot made it to air but it had talented people involved with it.
Let's not even discuss the American attempt at doing a version of Blackpool.
Oh, that moment when Sylv's voice rasps in and catches Sophie. Such a powerful scene, and one that made me cry.
The fact the doctor always remembered Adric.
It's just kinda funny with Ian learning that the crotchety old man that he met in a junkyard years ago is now a woman.
Especially since Ian has no idea what regeneration is (unless you count his Big Finish audios as canon) so when he went to this meeting he had it in his mind that everyone had met and travelled with Hartnell, in fact I think Jo is the only one there who’s met more than one Doctor before Power Of The Doctor
@@mrcritical6751 nope Tegan has met 1-5 and Kate 10-13 and is the only companion (except for Clara - and the less said about her, the better) who has actually seen the war doctor
@@mrcritical6751 discounting the several who have seen regeneration, like Sarah Jane and Mel (among others), the Brigadier has met the first 7, Jamie met 6 while traveling with 2, and Sarah Jane (again) started with 3, carried over to 4 left, later met 10, and even managed to meet 11
@@mrcritical6751 Nah, Tegan was in "The Five Doctors" and Mel was present for the transition from 6 to 7.
Though I'm sure fun conversations were had since Ian met the Doctor when he was still new to this adventuring thing.
William Russell returning for this was perhaps the greatest companion return of all time. His final appearance as one of the characters that started it all. Rest in peace, William. And thank you for the memories.
Power of the Doctor had me squealing and crying so much, thank you so much for an amazing era with Jodie as the Doctor and what an amazing way to celebrate the show and conclude her time as the Doctor!!!! 💙💙
Seeing some genuine love for Jodie's era makes my heart melt. I've been waiting for her to be positively recognised for such a long time, you can't even imagine!
@@alekseyl172 I like her as the doctor and some episodes I absolutely loved, but honestly I just can't stand the way chibnall writes his stories generally, for me it's the same for any show he's written tbh. I really wish Jodie would've gotten a different showrunner
@@fritzmoy101 But he did not write all the stories otherwise the episodes he wrote for RTD and Moffat you would be blaming them for the writing.
@@booradley8895 And, oddly enough, those episodes are some of the weakest in Doctor Who.
To be fait, Colin's wife at the time was sleeping her way around the DW producing team hence why his run was cut short - he found out and kicked off
"We're more than good, we're ACE!" Alright, who's cutting onions?
1:44-1:53 Love that moment, especially as McCoy and McGann were both in the TV film.
I know I remember the Doctor Who film.
Feels like the closest we'll get of McGann's Doctor interacting with his previous incarnation.
Haters may complain. But nothing says Jodie’s an official Doctor like the classic Time Lords acknowledging her as one of them. Great scene.
I do appreciate the characterisation of the 13th Doctor and I also believe it was a good casting choice, it's just the writing and directing was wayyyy off
@@azarothshadowsoul And chessy
@@TheElrick24 and generally hurtful to the past lore, really a tragedy
@Stvy14 I'm glad someone saw it that way no wonder they had to bring back David Tenant again
@@azarothshadowsoul this is why you don't let Chibnall anywhere near the series at all... Man is an idiot when in comes to writing.
11 and 13 were my absolute favorite doctors! I cried like a baby when Matt Smith changed and same with Jodi! 😩
Can you imagine those two together?
@@phantomquartz0586 I feel like 11 should have regenerated into 13! They are so much alike!
Can I just say, I love how they worked 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 13 into one episode without it being another simple, I just go meet myself setup.
and Ruth
I loved this episode and seeing all the former companions.
It’s always a treat to see a return
I missed Elisabeth Sladen in that last Scene! I think she were perfect for that. It's still a pity that she died 12 Years ago...
Ryan maybe? I think he was working already with Kate.
I heard Mel was a last minuet addition because somebody else dropped out last second, I heard it might have been Polly’s actress
On the empty chair, I assumed it was to represent all the companion actors that have passed away irl.
omg... putting all these scenes together just make me cry my eyes out.
Sylvester McCoy bringing the old Merlin and stealing scenes. Wonderful!
I really wish eccelston would have made a cameo not a big one just tell 13 she’s doing a fantastic job
Was it just my imagination, or did anyone else pick up on potential chemistry between Ace and Graham when they were together? On first viewing of PotD I could almost imagine them being together and having their own spin-off, maybe working for Kate.
There is a rumoured UNIT spin-off, maybe they could show up?
Oh, I totally ship Ace and Graham! They were definitely flirting when they met in that volcano. I was hoping that scene would be included here.
All this made me tear up when i saw it. It was all from my childhood.
One of the greatest gifts of this era. Fantastic stuff!
This whole episode was amazing and I loved every bit of it, seeing the classic doctors, the companions, it was epic!
I'm hoping The Seventh Doctor opens up to ace on why he was the way he was towards her since Big Finish have teased that we are exploring the final days of The Seventh Doctor
7 or 8 could slip right back in like they never left
1:08 I was just so happy how they found a way to get the classic doctors into an episode!!
David Bradley is brilliant
im a simple human being. i saw paul mcgann, i clicked
The perfect ending to the support group would be the 15th Doctor sitting in the room the whole time. In the end when he was asked his name, he would cheekily reply …”Oh me? I’m just The Doctor.” (Close credits)
Ace and seven. Brilliant
I always wanted to see a role reversal scene where a young Doctor is doting on an old Ian and he's not having it.
I am not crying. Brave heart.
6:54 Kate: "I will also say I may want to you for some work"
Well she lived up to that promise by recruiting Mel.
I love the scenes with the previous Doctors and companions in this episode!
The spin-off with Kate might have some of the companions! 💙💙
I will watch it until the end (either of me, or of the show, whichever comes first)
Ian Chesterton is back ! :D
I wish Tom Baker (Fourth Doctor) was there too, but he is now 89 years old and he was probably not feeling well at the time.
I could watch an entire episode that was just the support group telling stories. Especially if Captain Jack crashed the meeting...
with Jack there every single doctor is accounted for, except 8th. Even the war doctor, as Kate met him!!
@@julieeverett7442 But only 1 gets the honor of having all the Doctors attend his funeral, the Brigadier.

The 5th to 8th Doctor were finally rewarded after being left out of the 50th anniversary episode. 🙂
It'd be fun to hear what Mel's been up to all this time. Where did she travel? What happened to Glitz? And how did she find her way back to Earth for the reunion?
Come the next series we will find out.
Happily, all your questions got answered
Oh boy, must you have loved The Giggle.
Id have loved if they had Tennant, Smith and Capaldi here too, wonder if they could find someone similar enough to Troughton and Pertwee too like they have for the 1st doctor
Ranked from Least Awesome to Most Awesome (Although they are all Awesome!)-
Jo Martin (Yeah, okay, see you around when some other writer can think of something to actually do with this character)
Kate Stewart (Always nice seeing her, but she only just appeared last year and will apparently appear again next year, so it's not so much of a "grand return" really; Still fun though!)
Grahem (Only saw him a season ago)
Peter Davison (Saw him in Time-Crash but so glad he was here too!)
Collin Baker (Thank god his last on-screen appearance in Doctor Who won't go down as a debate between him saying: "Carrot Juice" and Dimensions in Time)
Paul McGann (Always great seeing this guy- Just patiently waiting for his on-screen spin-off any day now... )
David Bradley (Glad to see this guy is now officially the First Doctor, and no longer being horrifically mis-portrayed as a raging misogynist either)
Jo (Glad to see her again, although she's been through a lot with The Death of the Doctor and everything she's done at Big Finish, so hopefully this companion support groups can help her out; Still, since she has technically already made a return on The Sarah Jane Adventures, I would have swapped her out for Polly; Although who knows, maybe in another universe I'm saying the exact opposite lol)
Sylvester McCoy (Every day, I think about how amazing it is that the New Series has actually acknowledged the Seventh Doctor- I swear, up until this point, I was wondering if the show was just pretending like his era didn't even happen)
Mel (Don't know how this character is on Earth right now, but I guess her timeline didn't even make sense to begin with- Even Big Finish haven't done a proper introduction story for her yet; Maybe if the rumors are true of her coming back, maybe the "puzzle" will finally be put together)
Tegan (I remember reading an interview years back about Chris explaining that he brought Captain Jack back because of his energy, but would have also like to bring back Sarah Jane and Harry if their actors hadn't passed, and how he would also like to bring back Amy & Rory, Rose, and Tegan at some point, so hey! Glad to see that finally fulfilled upon!)
Ace (Never actually thought this show would acknowledge this character again; Amazing!)
Ian (Thank you; Finally this itch in my brain can be put to rest!)
Ace was originally going to appear in the next season of the Sarah Jane Adventures, but then Lis Sladen died, and the show was ended.
They really need to do a proper few episodes, or even a season, with Paul McGann.
Watching this with a wistful eye, waiting for *that* regeneration...was *not* expecting 14 to be doing the final voiceover.
Aww, beautiful.
This scene with the Doctor and Tegan, on top of Big Finish's 'Forty' set, really fixed a lot of issues with their 80's run.
if she were still alive, it would have been so, so fantastic to see Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith) in the middle of that group
I think my favorite part about the doctor support group is there is 100% like a handful more companions who couldve shown up and just didnt its very funny
there arent that many who could show up, and most of them are known to Kate
Yeah theres several I wanted to see but some are deceased and some just aren't available.
There's at least one who is attending the meeting virtually, it can be whichever companion you prefer.
Imagine…
Ace: “Is she ok?”
Yaz: “She’s more than ok, she’s fantastic!”
The empty chair had a photo of Sarah-Jane
UGH!!! This damn episode... EVERY TIME!! 🥺
Ace is still my favourite companion ❤️
"Why aren't you wearing?"
"I don't do robes."
"Always one that has to be different."
I'm so happy 8 came back for this
of course, if a group of doctors get together, they must be sassy to each other. half surprised there was no interior decor critique.
Chris Chibnal may be a boring and bland writer but this genuinely made me tear up, makes me want to go back to my childhood binging Doctor Who Classic and new.
I was kissing my mobile phone when I saw the Classic Who reunions with tears of joy
Say what you like about any doctor, but the Seventh had an intensity which few TV actors can match.
How good of the BBC to make this vid, highlighting the best bits of the story for us.
My god i loved this to bits and being a cyber fannatic that line about Adric brought a tear to my cheek...well faceplate and the thing is i wasnt even alive when earthshock was aired. Also i really hope that at least one cyber scene for the power of the doctor releases on yt that would be epic.
It was wonderful to have so many reminders of when Dr Who was appointment viewing. So excited for the Tennant episodes.
This episode is a very good regeneration episode
I wish we saw Martha, an old version of Amy and Rory and Bill(those are the only people who can come back and you may be thinking about Clara but she died so she should stay there and not come back, also also bill didn’t die)
Would’ve been nice to see Martha, but Amy and Rory would be dead at this point in time, and technically bill is dead because testimony took her form in Twice upon a time and they only take the form of people who are dead
I read somewhere that Freema Agyeman, Tosin Cole and Camille Codouri all filmed scenes at home on their laptops that were going to be played in the scene. You will notice a chair with a laptop on it in the final scene. These were cut from the final episode before broadcast however.
Amy and Rory were both dead by 2012, not possible to have them in there
