Maverick your comments always make me think. Speaking of elite athletes in the same camp, I recall Carl Lewis, Leroy Burrell, Mike Marsh all being in the same camp. Think it was Santa Monica track club and all these guys were successful. Ato Boldon , Maurice Greene and Marion Jones were all in the same camp, success again. Sure they had egos there too but they made it happen. Yohan Blake produced his 9.69 and 19.26 in the same camp with Bolt and those were his best times. So if athletes want to make it work they can.

Real tak dat Maverick. With you one hundred percent. The only way I see it working is if the MVP camp has different locations, where the athletes doing the same events don't meet until there's a competition. This is a beautiful thing to have the top three world class sprinters from a small island country, the down side is, they're all in the same camp. Blessings!

This is so well articulated, Sir Maverick! We all think it, but never clearly presented the situation the way you have. If we all go back to the SAFP v. ETH glory days, Franno wanted them to specialize. In other words, they were only to run in one discipline each. And that created conflicts between both women.
A very complex situation, and not that easy to solve. We need 2 or 3 more Franno’s on the Island nation.

The top athletes at MVP gotta just accept that when it's their time, then it's their time. Win when they can and then take a calculated risk when at their peak. Shelly took a risk because she saw the competition from Elaine, Elaine took a risk because she saw the competition from Shericka. Shericka doesn't have any competition currently so i think she will remain at MVP for the foreseeable future. The twin's will need a couple more years before they can become a real challenge to her. I heard that Kemba is gonna join Shelly's camp so that's good. Shelly can pass the mantle down to her.

Have to disagree with you on this one Maverick. Stephen Francis has always been himself. The athletes develop personality clashes as they get bigger and more famous. So what should Francis do? Turn these young potential stars away? No. Let them leave if they want to. Shelly Ann left and look where she is. Still GOAT status! Yohan Blake let himself live under Bolt's shadow. Why didn't Bolt live under Blake's shadow? Ultimately it's all about the personal strength and passion of the athletes and the choices they make as free adults as they move up in the game. Francis loves what he does. The ego and rivalry situation comes with the game! Athletes and coaches have to deal with it. Everyone is getting a piece of the pie. Who is hungriest is the question.

Can't agree that it's because Elaine leave why Sherica is flourishing. The writing was on the wall since last year. While I do agree that such a competitive camp can be a challenge to manage, honestly from a spectator's perspective I have no problem with three all-time greatest athletes being in the same camp, their HOME. The entire world has seen what tends to happen when they leave. The only athlete who continues to flourish after leaving is Shelly, and I firmly believe that all she's still achieving now mostly have to do with the MVP foundation, methods, work ethic, etc etc. No disrespect to the new camp, but when I see Shelly, I'm still seeing MVP production.

    • @albertmaraj
      @albertmaraj 2 роки тому +8

Then you are lying to yourself. Franno taught Shelly to burst out from the blocks then hold on till she reaches the finish line. And it worked in the 100m bcz she's that good but bcz of it she never broke 22 seconds in the 200m.
Walcott on the other hand trained her top end speed and made her able to have increased top end speed and speed endurance. He also helped to improve her technique and execution. She has now ran 21.82 then 21.81 with just a day inbetween. Franno never got her anywhere close to that. Sorry

I agree with the maverick and have also said this. It becomes a conflict for a coach to train 2 to 3 women at the same time to run the 100M and 200M. There can only be one winner. It can only work if they run different events like when Shereika was running the 400M. once the coach brought Shereika to run the 100M and 200M it became a conflict for Elaine. Only one can win. Shelly made the right move to leave MVP and Elaine made the right move. Shereika will probably do the same once another 100M and 200M star is realized

I believe it's possible and workable, the problem is the ego of the athletes,as soon as they become super star all the attention of the coach should be focused on them, athletes know what they should do each training day, warm up, stretch and start the work out program, if you (the athlete) is having an a problem call the coach, if coaches were to just focus on one athlete at a time millions of people would never have become athletes

When they become fierce rivals they should get another training partner(s) and different training schedules. Focus on their strengthen (so it becomes stronger) and on their esp. weakness.
I've noticed that some athletes feel neglected when they get an injury. That's another thing that need to be taken into consideration.
Now Ja athletes have options. But back in the days most sprinters go to MVP or Racers. If they leave, what would be their options, overseas? One of the major problem of leaving a club is to ensure that the other club is just as good if not better - training problem, medical personnel, training facilities, etc.

  • @agro-valleyfarm7217

I don't entirely agree with you that if Elaine had stayed that Shericka would not perform the way she is currently doing. For the 100m Elaine would have the edge. However, the 200m which Shericka is better at it would be very close between Elaine & Shericka-and despite how some people feel competition is not bad at all. I have no problem with an athlete leaving a club or changing her management team but in the case of Elaine her focused should have been to break one of those sprint world record AND who would best be able to prepare her to do that-her hubby or Stephen Francis. Her departure from the MVP at this time was very, very, ill-advised-that's why people MUST learn to think for themselves

I can't agree with the Maverick this time around. Last year, both Sherika and Elaine was at the same MVP camp yet Sherika was fast improving and ran 10.77 in the 100m. She missed out on running the finals of the 200m but people thought she had a very good chance of running a fast time and medalling. This is the thing, Elaine came the closes to getting both 100 and 200 records, since she knocked those doors I believe she should have stayed with a plan for her to get the records in this season and Sherika would still be threatening but Since Elaine could have gotten those records . They could have had both records too both would have pushed each other . Another scenario was push Elaine to break the 100 and Sherika the 200. I didn't not mind her leaving but that camp could have a crack at trying to break the records, then she could leave after.

If Elaine was there she would be the one to get the World Record now, I believe at MVP everyone gets a chance to prove himself or herself. It is not like football when you sit on the bench and do not get a chance to prove oneself. Track and field is different If you do not believe in yourself, you will not rise to the top.

Funny you would mention that now. Shelly Ann in one of her interviews after their 100m sweep mentioned that they all have different coaches. Does this somewhat solidify your point? I don’t agree with all your reasons why it’s important for them not to train at the same club but maybe just maybe it has some validity. 😆 🤩 Peace ✌🏾

I beg to differ Maverick... It's not coaches responsibility to ensure that each athlete perform... The coach is doing his job it the athletes responsibility to remain focus on maximizing their potential and capitalize on the the coaches expertise... You said it best, the coaches aren't magicians and at the end of the day... This is a business.... It's the athletes responsibility to zero in on all that this man has to offer and if they fail, it can't be on him... The proof is in the pudding he's proven to be successful with his program, for those who don't succeed, the onus is on them

U cannot blame a coach completely for the failure of and athlete... That makes no sense... It's a business, is the coach suppose to reserve his expertise for only one athlete at a time... What is the craziness are you saying?!!! Are you saying that the coach should only train one athlete at a time for each program... If that reasoning sound sound to you, I guess I'm the one who drink mad puss piss, cause that makes no sense

If the Clayton sisters materialize, Franno will have the same problem, and spectators like us will be having this same discussion when Shericka leaves MVP. Thank God we have a few more years for this Clayton’s v. Jackson to manifest itself.
