Chris, I am an amateur magician. I don't really plan on going pro. I just like the art and enjoy preforming some basic tricks for my kid and his friends (my kid's got a magician for a dad. How cool is that? :)
Anyway I really enjoy your videos. You teach people a little about tecnique and a lot about attitude. It comes to prove you can make videos to teach young magicians without revealing major secrets.
I just wanted to congratulate you on your videos and your attitude. You've been doing this for so long and you still seem like a kid with a new toy, which shows just how much you love magic. You're not in it for the money and that is refreshing and inspiring (we all have to eat and all, but your love for the craft seems to be your main motivation).
In sum, thank you for the time you devote to magic and for sharing it all with us. You're an inspiration to a lot of people and I know you don't take that lightly.

I am really late on this video but I wanted to leave some love.
I am a complete newbie to magic, only started two weeks ago. I grabbed a copy of the Royal Road to Card Magic book after watching many of your tutorials.
I started in magic to find something I could do for my kid when she is older and something to practice with friends and family but you got me hooked in to card magic and now all I want is to practice all the time and get better handling of the cards.
    Thanks again! 🇨🇦🍁

Oh my god, is this it? A color change I can finally do without worrying about my hand size?

    • @sleightlyhandy889
      @sleightlyhandy889 7 років тому +26

There are plenty of colour changes you can do with small hands. I have small hands and do things like the Shapeshifter/Pirouette change, the Twirl Change, The Paintbrush Top Change, the Snap Change, the Classic/Erdnase Change, and more. I'm also trying to perfect my snap change and Duck Change. Those are all easy with small hands.
Not to mention, you can easily invent your own colour changes by modifying, creating, or using moves that you know.
The only area you can possibly find a problem with is that if your hands are so small that you cannot reach the opposite corners of a card with your thumb and middle finger (diagonally), you might have trouble with the Pirouette and Twirl Changes, and possibly the Classic Colour Change as well.

B's Magic Tricks an easy clean up i like to use with this color change is taking the 2 cards and putting them on the top of the deck face down - so you have their card as 2nd again. then take the top card slide it in the middle and then you have their card clean solo on top of the deck ready for a nice finish and examination

Nick M. yep, i just tried this, i use the index finger of the hand taking the card to push the card underneat back a bit and the index finger of the hand holding the deck to pull it back rest of the way (after its pushed their card out). I think with a little practice I’ll be able to do it super smoothly and quickly.

Their amazing huge set of tricks taught by Chris Ramsay, Brad Christian, Adam Wilber, and Peter Mckinnon, some of the most amazing magicians of the Ellusionist team, short only Daniel Madison, and Lloyd Barnes. Not only does it include over 30 great tricks and flourishes, but if you buy the full set, it also comes with a box of props and a whole extra DVD/download for tricks to do with them as well.

I really enjoy the ease of using the finger nail to push that card. This is very simple, and I love it! It feels great with this new deck of Knights I got today *cough*. Love the deck by the way, this is my first one, I literally just opened it right before I saw this upload.

  • @JakHart

Absolutely awesome mechanic. I'm working on figuring out how to do it without nails, I just trimmed them. I did get it on the first go though.
I teach magic more than I perform, and this is a great one to get someone going, and also a great trick to get into color changes.
btw, you can always take the two cards to the top of the deck, and put their selected card into the middle of the deck, or so it seems, as you reveal that it is still on the top.

You should definitely buy them as they have some amazing sleight of hand magic in them, but they are pretty advanced and if you aren't very well adept at all the basic sleight of hand moves you should probably wait to buy them. The ones I own are; Dai Vernon's book of magic, Inner secrets of card magic, Further inner secrets of card magic, More Inner secrets of card magic, Ultimate secrets of card magic, and as well stars of magic is an excellent book on magic from vernon and other greats

always a big fan of your tutorials, Chris. Thanks for this one. I was trying it out and worked out that instead of just getting a fingernail to it and possibly scratching or damaging the card, if you squeeze the deck slightly, it pops/convex the card just enough to even use the pad of the index finger to pull the card down. And it's not visible to the audience too.

knew the move from reading the book. did it once or twice and thought it was terrible. seeing you doing it, makes me wanna re-read a lot of things.

looks awesome, a little difficult for me but practice makes perfect. I really dig that you're crediting sources. not something a lot of others are doing and it really good. keep the videos coming!

I watched literally hundreds of magic tutorials and have never seen this color change before!
Thanks for recommending magic books. I like this format, but maybe you could also make a video only about books?

another solid video man. keep coming with the book recommendations. I picked up a copy of expert card technique and will definitely look for the Royal Road to card magic. thanks for the info.

I had a quick idea while watching. When you grab the card, you can push the hidden card back flush with the deck with your thumb, so when you pull it out you can end clean

Thank you for that, I read royal road when I was younger and not gonna lie, I could never get that move down. I don't think it was poorly explained in royal road, I just never knew what it was to look like. And you demonstrated it perfectly. I'll probably revisit it in the book

Concerning the new lighting you are using here... i think by employing it you relinquish your very own style of cinematography which i really adore... maybe think about adding some lighting to the background to compensate for the discrepancy in brightness, right now the background is awkwardly dark. Still a lovely tutorial you have produced, I look very much forward to new videos in the future!

These videos are great, I've learned so much more from the books then i would by just watching other random tutorials and it's great that you are showcasing some of the sleights from these books because sometimes it is hard to read the books and I need that visual to help but yeah thanks man keep it up

Awesome video again! I am a beginner so learning a move like this gives me the start for the creative process of making a trick. I also really like learning the books where they come from, I've picked a few up myself!
