Ok, so I've been working on patter while also practicing the routine for a bit and I think I've got it pretty well down. I'm definitely going to use it in dnd somehow, because my patter is: Hidden card: King of hearts Money card: queen of hearts I tell the story of a queen, who was kidnapped by her jesters (the jokers) when they got fed up of being laughed at. Showing all jokers: People searched high, people searched low and people even searched in between, but the queen was nowhere to be found. Until a brave knight set out to finish this quest others could not. Showing all queens: He thought he found her, but the jesters had hatched a devious plan. "Can you be sure that's your queen, or is she up here? Or maybe in here?" Doing the count and showing all jokers: The knight looked closer and saw they were all jesters in disguise. Flipping over the joker: So he dealt with the jesters, Flipping over the queen: found the true queen and Flipping over the king: they fell madly in love and he became her king. Great trick!
Ive been messing around with this trick, my fav is using a 3 card in it (irish accent).. so when you spam the theres a 3.. 3.. 3.. What do you get?.. no one replys.. a small forrest! (stole the joke from a call me kevin vid and put it in a trick) the giggle plus rolling eyes gave me chance to be a bit more cheeky. xD ..had to put in the inspiration as it can come from anywhere.
Hey Ramsey love your vids keep up the good work. can you please make a tutorial on how to misdirect spectators. trying to become a magician like you but I am struggling.
I tried to learn the ascanio spread and could not master it and then suddenly i played with some cards and just did it. It is still ugly but am now working on the presentation keep at it, it will just click
This is one of my most popular tricks I perform. I use a joker, the ace of spades, and a blank card with $280 written on it (updated from the original to $20 a guess). My patter is a story about how I got hustled as a kid on a trip to New York. The spectators absolutely go nuts. I use it in walk-around, either as a stand-alone tick or as a closer for a set (with my patter it is kind of long, about 5 minutes for the whole routine). I am working on a modification where the reveal is a spectator's signed card from an earlier trick.
Just performed this trick to neighbour's seven-year-old-know-it-all kid. I turned it into a story of a queen who lives in a tower and who's chased by an evil Joker but at the end is rescued by a valiant knight. She kept saying "I know what you did, I know what you did" all the way through the trick, so at the reveal I just asked "well, if this is the joker and this is the queen, then you must know who this is?" Her jaw literally dropped at the reveal. Best. Effect. Ever. Thank you so much for teaching this! Much joy will be had!
This was the best trick I learned from you. I absolutely love this. Everytime I show it to someone they go like wtf dude. I get crazy reactions. And I feel like a magician. This is my most practiced trick out of all. PS - Yesterday we made a short film for a project based on this trick. A person plays with the devil with soul on the line. Thnx for this trick bro
"Maybe you want to talk about two girls and a cup" !?!?!? Really Chris !!!!????? You kill me on that one. Great trick by the way, quick and easy ! I can't wait to pratice and show me friends this !
I've been doing the same routine for years, except I've been doing the "This n' That" routine. Basically 3 blank cards with "This" "That" and "Other" written on them. The goal was to find "that card" among "this one and this one".
I always replace “other” with a card that says “something special” then use my patter to make this a moment where my spectator feels good about themselves.... helps you get phone numbers ;)
I’m a beginner magician and I learned this from the introduction on the card guard vid. It took me like 30 minutes just to realize what he was doing. Probably should have just waited
i do a slightly different version of this where I explain it as an old parlor trick scam where all the cards are the same (all Q of hearts) and then they all change to all King of spades. I do it a couple times where they are switching between all Queens and All Kings, then for the kicker I show that one cards a queen, one cards a king, and invite them to bet on what they think the third card is .. "some people think it's two kings and 1 queen, some people think it's two queens and a king.. but nomatter what they said they would lose their money" turn over the third card to reveal a $ sign. Gets great reactions.I appreciate your version because I do my lifts differently. I'll practice these so that I have more tools in my toolbag. Thanks Chris!
I love this trick, it has an amazing ending effect and it is not hard to master. The only thing that bothers me a bit is that it is tricky to present it using a random deck of cards because if the deck does not contain two equal cards the viewer might notice at the beginning that it is impossible to have that. I think some decks contain two equal jokers, but even jokers usually are different :(
Hey Chris, thanks so much for this routine! I love the endless possibilities that these moves can produce! I have practiced each move and have performed it twice so far and both times I get a great reaction from the final reveal of the ace of spades. Keep it up, you are inspiring so many of us out here and your creativity and instruction has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and interact with strangers in a way I've never been able to. You are a hero!
Boy you are way to chipper for someone just waking up . I'm in my 60's and have a lot of arthritis including in my hands . Knowing I will ever get to be good at card magic . It helps with dexterity in my hands . But most of all I enjoy watching your talent . It gives me the ability to show my grand kids how entertaining magic is , by sharing your videos of how it's suppose to be done .
Sweet trick. I managed to learn it pretty quickly. A slight modification I like to use is at the beginning when you show the spectator the Joker on the bottom, then ask if the Queen is on the top, or in the middle, but it's the Joker again, I leave the Joker in the middle then continue the trick as normal. This way when you reach the grand finale, the Ace of Spades is in the middle. I also made up a counter strategy for spectators who know how double lifts work. Again at the beginning when you double lift the Queen and the Joker to the bottom, but the spectator guesses the Queen is in the middle, do the triple joker's, then tell the spectator the Queen has been hiding on top, and in the middle, then move the Queen to the top, then double lift the Queen and the Joker back to the bottom, and continue the trick as normal. However may need to make up a few more.
I know this is an older video but this is why I love magic. After watching the tutorial I know what you are doing and it still blows my mind when you do the trick again.
Chris - I appreciate that you constantly remind us to come up with our own routines. It's the most valuable thing you teach. The moves and the gaffs work and sometimes they don't but the entertainment is in the performance and showmanship. The performance is the art and that is why a routine with a couple of fairly easy double lifts can be every bit as entertaining as ...lots of fancy moves I can't do. THANKS MAN!
some tips for consistency (dealers grip which is not only normal - it is devilishly deceiving), first double life - correct, second one meh, awkward. just let the card fall, and repeat the same double lift mechanic - constant, and it looks normal. 3:35, doesn't make sense as you go for a normal flip of a card from a dealers grip, then some weird handling of the 2nd "show". do a modified "Reverse Gemini Count" (it's what I call it, instead of taking the middle card(s) and show, retain it and flip the top and bottom over. this one takes a little practice to make it look like your simply dealing a top card. start like a double lift (that you have perfect) but push just the top card, thumb holds the middle card, right middle finger grabs the bottom, then book flip the "top" card, the thumb retains the single card - so fluidly it looks like the first double lift. - 4:54 I HATE the flustration count - I deal with some of the most hard core spectators - friends LOL (drunk friends sometimes) - I personally use the Rhumba count. little more deceiving. v=70cvNi8BGW8 (I used to channel Scorpio magic many years ago, I cancelled my account forgot to back up my vids arg!!). One thing I learned in many years of card magic - make it consistant and don't change styles midstream in a routine, and you''ll blow even magicians away. :-) Good video - very catchy!
Thanks Chris for all the card tricks, I've have over 350 of your tricks. I live in àùstiralia. I'm very sorry that you won't be doing it anymore. But you have to do what is best for you. But thanks again. I've learned a lot.
This trick was my gateway drug - I love showing it to friends, even if I messes up a small part of it, the ending is always amazing. Thank you - now on to learn more tricks!
I like this one. I remember years ago when I was in high school I watched a youtube video that showed this effect with cards that said 'this', 'that' and (the hidden card) 'other'. I remember I took a pack of Uno cards which came with a few blank cards, grabbed a permanent marker and 'knocked the socks off' everyone in my class. I think that is when I started going deep into magic.
I love this routine, I use blank cards with THIS, THAT and THE OTHER written on them, the patter goes "I've got this card, I've got that card, that's this card, this is that card" and so on and the kicker is "not this card or that card it's the other card". I'm sure I saw Bebel (Awesome French card genius) do it with the backs changing colour as well.
believe it or not, but this is the card trick that got me into magic. ive recently learned the name of this trick after over a year. but the tutorials i came across just wasnt something that looked as badass as i saw it. till i can across your tutorial and it was just so amazing
Just started watching your videos after seeing an ad on Facebook. You’re absolutely wicked man, a total inspiration, you’ve made me pick up cards and work out some small tricks. Learned this little routine and showed my wife who was pretty damn impressed! Keep being a boss!
Hi Chris, I agree this is a great trick. It was the first one I learned. As to show the 3 jokers instead of the frustration count I learned the orion count. Next to the effect of showing you have 3 the same cards it also is a beautiful flourish and more difficult to follow than frustration count i believe.
This is the first card trick I ever learned! Way back in 1990. I love this trick to this day. You can do it with face cards - just have two decks to convince the audience. Thanks for showing this!
Color monte is one of my favorite card tricks of all time, and I love it for my walkarounds, its a classic my number one walkaround! Thanks for posting this one, Chris. You are still awesome.
Chris I want to say thank you for all the work you put in your videos, I wish xavior had more of his handling on the pass available for purchase, thank you for all your videos everyday. 😀
I really love this neat little trick. I just spent an hour and a half creating a Black Jack patter routine to go with it lol; love the content and learning your tricks are always fun.
Great tutorial, I'm sure I've seen this effect before ;) but you touched on a point that is so solid... Practice the moves, then the patter... It's like a song - melody then the lyrics for example, it's something that I do all the time, and even then, I will come up with patter for all situations, (adults/kids/singles/groups etc etc) good advice
I love doing this trick. It's also a good excuse to perform a deck switch while putting the deck in your pocket and just keeping those 3 cards. I usually perform this before a colour-changing deck so that they have just seen that all the cards were red with the previous deck
lol i did this routine with the story of a time traveler, the 1st card represents the past, the middle is present, and the last card is the future, and the money card as the time traveler, IT'S AWESOME!!!!
I have seen way too many tutorials of different magicians but yours are most well presented and easy as hell to learn. Thanks man you are the best. Peace out. ✌️
I've always known that as W.T.F and uses blanks with 'this' 'that' and 'other' written on each of the cards. Is a great trick with a high 'WOW' ending.
You are my jint favourite magic tutorialist and I agree with what you were saying about looking dodgy, I saw a trick once that was like a normal thing and suddenly something similarv to the rumb a count appeared with cards here there and everywhere it just looked out of place
Hey Chris! I can't do this trick yet but what if you make the spectator pick a card and say you'll get back to it. Control it to the top, then get the top 3 cards with the first being their card (not known to the spectator) second one of those being a joker you placed there before and the third (either random or you placed it there) being the "money card" then do this trick with their selection being the kicker at the end (which they probably forgot about because of the story you tell meanwhile). NOW I have some double lifts and card controls to practise....
You can also add an elmsley count after you show the three jokers to suggest that you might be using four cards and at the end you can let them examine the three cards you were using
This is a great 3 card monte type trick. Thanks for teaching this to us Chris :D Edit: I'll like to proudly add that i added my own effect to this trick, where i make the so called 2nd joker reappear in the middle of my deck triumph style(one card face up, other face down).
Great tip for the double deal in a 3-card packet.... been wondering how to make that move look convincing....such a "so-near-and-yet-so-far" problem....
Hey chris, loved you 5 favorite ring tricks video. Was able to break it down pretty well, but would love for you to feature ring tricks on a tutorial monday!
Ok, so I've been working on patter while also practicing the routine for a bit and I think I've got it pretty well down. I'm definitely going to use it in dnd somehow, because my patter is:
Hidden card: King of hearts
Money card: queen of hearts
I tell the story of a queen, who was kidnapped by her jesters (the jokers) when they got fed up of being laughed at.
Or maybe in here?"
Doing the count and showing all jokers:
The knight looked closer and saw they were all jesters in disguise.
Flipping over the joker: So he dealt with the jesters,
Flipping over the queen: found the true queen and
Flipping over the king: they fell madly in love and he became her king.
Great trick!
You should record your routine cuz that sounds like it would be great content
I quite literally talked about quantum physics
Lol can I use this??

chris: very easy double lift, very easy.
me for the next 2 hrs: *tryna double lift perfectly*
I agree, tried some other double lifts that are easier. Can't seem to keep the cards together consistently when I push off with my thumb.
Easy for him maybe but not for begginers
You can just do a little pinky pull down, then the double lift can be automatic
"tryna double lift perfectly" is honestly me after every tutorial that has one, or even has something similar.
I tried to learn the ascanio spread and could not master it and then suddenly i played with some cards and just did it. It is still ugly but am now working on the presentation keep at it, it will just click

I have seen way too many tutorials of different magicians but yours are most well presented and easy as hell to learn. Thanks man you are the best. Peace out. ✌️
Love the ending performance, but more importantly, the entire explanation on using other cards that someone may already have!
I absolutely loved this! Thanks Chris! Legend! ❤ from the land down under 🇦🇺
I've always known that as W.T.F and uses blanks with 'this' 'that' and 'other' written on each of the cards.
Those red cards look so retro & dope!
So cool - another great video Chris!
I really like that three card trick good job Chris Ramsey
this trick is absolutely great and your explanation is so so cool. Thanks
Many thanks again Chris - great tutorial for the basic double lifts. Great explanations.
That performance at the end was the best thing I’ve ever experienced 👌😆
You can also add an elmsley count after you show the three jokers to suggest that you might be using four cards and at the end you can let them examine the three cards you were using
had to watch it like 5 times to understand it but in the end its worth it i love it so much
I actually did meet a magician that did that trick to me in the street, so cool to actually understand how it works!
had this trick for a while now.. loved it when i first got it and it STILL gets people
Love your routine at the end!
I'm gonna get some serious practice with this! Killer trick!
Thanks for the great video. You have a great channel, probably the best magic channel on UA-cam.
That routine and patter is so good!!!👌🏼
I love that it's for "beginners"!!! Another great video from King Ramsay!!!
Another awesome video. I like to do a "this" card, "that" card, and kicker ending "other" card instead of the color monte.
What a dude. Best card vid's around.
Chris you're my second motivation for growing a fab beard.
This is a great 3 card monte type trick. Thanks for teaching this to us Chris :D
Edit: I'll like to proudly add that i added my own effect to this trick, where i make the so called 2nd joker reappear in the middle of my deck triumph style(one card face up, other face down).
Works Every Time!! I absolutly love this tutorial! Thanks again Chris Ramsey
Wonderful! You're great Chris. 👍🏻
I'm impressed when u do it even tho I know how it's done. Well played
Great tip for the double deal in a 3-card packet.... been wondering how to make that move look convincing....such a "so-near-and-yet-so-far" problem....
I love ur magic bro...I am glad that ur tutorials r awesome....and ur talking is so fun
Hey chris, loved you 5 favorite ring tricks video. Was able to break it down pretty well, but would love for you to feature ring tricks on a tutorial monday!
I've had the 3 card Monte trick for years but hadn't used it in a while but I really like some of the handling u have for this trick thank you
