      @@valovanonym I think this move is ambidextrous of sorts. I'm a righty but I'm not sure which hand I'll learn this with. With my left I can pull the bottom card super clean and quiet and get it up top in an instant, but then struggle to get my knuckle to square it up. With my right, I'm awkward getting the card out, it makes a big ole click and my hand looks stupid, but then I can quickly and cleanly square it with my knuckle. So I've got this move half mastered with each hand 😂

      Sure is! Some tricks I like doing with my other hand (don't know why). It is a "feeling" I get when I hold the deck and start the trick. It is not related to my dealers grip or anything - other tricks work better for me on my other hand. More mirror videos please! 😉

    I have been practicing the clipshift for about 2 weeks now and almost got it silent. Not quite but almost. I find I can cover the sound with talking because it is rather quiet. So a bit of banter and the card is to the top. Love this move :D

    This move is so crazy! I think you need to practice this in 3 steps, and possibly in reverse. I'd first get the card to where you need it when you go to square it up, then work back from there so your finger placement is right. Everyone's ability is different and you have to change what he's doing based on how it works for your hand.

    I have mastered this technique. It took 2 months of constant practice. My hand was cramped and hurt a lot but now it's second nature. I purchased the tutorial from the original creator and used that in addition to this video to learn it. If you want to learn it, you can. If you do, you have an amazing sleight that can be used for any number of effects.

    Here is a fun application of clip shift change.
    1. A card is selected and controled on top of the deck ( I use turn over pass)
    2. Put the cards on the box except of the selected card which is out of the box.
    3. Do the clip change holding the box with the rest of the cards inside.
    4. The card appears over the box.

  • @deanmaniatt9697
    @deanmaniatt9697 5 років тому +18

    Disclaimer: I'll describe how I do the clip shift, without a frame of reference; I created the handling from scratch a couple of years ago, so I have no idea how Nelson teaches it.
    1. Grab the deck with the dominant hand (not the one you usually grip the cards when handling them), with the following finger positioning:
    - Thumb diagonally at the bottom of the pack, near the center and with the first phalanx contacting the cards.
    - Index finger resting at the side of the deck, with the first phalanx at the edge of the cards, curling to the back side.
    - Pinky, Ring and Middle fingers on top of the pack, all first phalanxes resting at the edge of the cards, curling to the back side.
    2. Slide the card on the back of the pack with your Pinky and Ring fingers, using the Middle finger as a pivot point, towards your dominant side, until it pivots around the far edge of the deck.
    3. VERY IMPORTANT: To avoid any sounds, as soon as the card clears the edge and begins to turn towards the side of the deck, reposition the Pinky finger to the side of the card, and clip it between the Pinky and Ring fingers. The card is now securely held between the two fingers, at an angle away from the rest of the deck.
    4. Move the Index finger from the side of the deck, curling it to rest on the face of the card at the top.
    5. Apply pressure at the following points:
    - Index finger pushes the face of the deck forward, creating a slight bend.
    - Thumb pushes the bottom of the deck upwards.
    - Pinky finger pushes towards the deck, sliding the card in place, as it clears the entire packet that is in motion with the movement of the Index and Thumb fingers.
    6. The card should now slide underneath the Index finger, regardless of how small your hands are.
    7. Go wild with whichever motion you want to cover the squaring action. The hard part is over.

  • @DarkTempler1
    @DarkTempler1 3 роки тому

    amazing. I know how to do the reverse where you flip it to the bottom but not the bottom back up. That is awesome and will tie well with my performance BUT I have had several occasions where the spectator was more impressed when I asked them if they would want to see the card on the top or bottom and they usually choose bottom so me moving it back to the top wouldnt be as impressive to them I guess because they expect it to somehow already be on top. YET I WILL LEARN THIS! Very hard it looks like but I can do this. I dont need to pay someone, you showed enough of it to learn it. TY

    Nice tutorial as always but i have that one problem in this move. When a card is pulled from the bottom and you should take it with index finger I cant reach the card or get it near enough with other fingers. So if someone have had this same problem could you give me some advise?

    Question: most of your videos show the move from this angle (the magician’s POV) and I’m always wondering how the move looks from other angles.
