>loves carthage
>loves Pyrrhus
mhhhhhh i see a pattern
Man say Rome bad
Well Pyrrhus did defeat Carthage so...
It can’t be just me who thought this was an EU4 video after seeing the title…
Depends on how much you know history
It’s… it’s not?
Me
Nah just you
How did you think epirus is in eu4?
In my first Playthrough with rome I conquered epirus, took in Pyrrhos, he founded his own major family and ended up founding the principate after several insanely unlikely wins in a civil war and a war with macedon.
Took me awhile to find it, but in one of the culture menus, you can see what levees a culture will give, and the Thessalonians give a lot of cavalry. Just thought I'd mentioned it here for anyone to see
Now that’s a fun fact
did... you call your car Purrhus?
Also at 7:50 : you should consider how much food the province has in general, making a food producing territory into a city switches the goods it is producing to a "crafted goods" like dyes, glass etc.
edit: You should also consider integrating other cultures especially if they are from another culture group like the pops in italy. on one hand it opens up new warfare traditions, but it also makes the pops usable for levies which is huge while you are small. Yeah sorry I've been nerding out on imperator over the last week completing three different campaigns
The Roman dance of integrating the Etruscans, Venetic etc in the early game and then betraying them later on once you don't need the levies.
At 5:00 I cried inside when you married off one of the few people with the blood of the Argeads...
The key is to marry her off to Demetrius, then hope she produces a daughter, then marry her and that way the heir of Pyrrhus can carry the blood of Akaios, Antigonos and Argeaids.
@@Marcoz588 This is the way.
Guy even didn't know about Magna Graecia.
Laith we are going to need some more imperator content from you as the N.1 enthusiasts
Pyrrhos needed better Manpower Recovery Speed.
He needed tercios for the -30% shock damage received.
Should've just slackened, smh what a noob
Wait. Laith you do realise Pyrrhos was "canceled" (thanks youtube) by a grandmother using a brick ? And that's not the worst thing about him, the man could have claimed the throne of Macedonia but instead invaded Rome without proper scouting or espionage
He did so to protect Greek cities on the Italian Peninsula, which were threatened by Rome and Carthage. And had he won decisively, he could've likely earned prestige as "protector of Greeks" to subjugate Macedonia and Greece more easily.
@@starhalv2427 That is a romantic and not a historical view of Pyrrhos and listen I love the history of the man but realistically he was overly ambitious and was not strategically adept enough to even control and administrate Magna Graecia and you have to remember: he invaded Macedon and the Peloponnese where he betrayed Sparta , where he proved to be already tactically exhausted and after the death of his son Ptolemy, personally as well. It was on the streets of Argos that he was ended by the hand of a Greek woman. He would never be recognised as the protector of the Greeks. But instead looked upon by the people as another pretender to the claim even if he had conquered succesfully in Italy.
@@IncontenentiaButtux
Protecting greek cities was the official reason he went to Italy, I didn't claim he had no ambition beyond that.
And there are lots of examples in history, of people crafting an image of themselves that allows them to basically subjugate entire nations without a fight.
@@starhalv2427 I didn't say you did I just corrected the romanticized view of him that you presented and its fun to have such views its what gets us into history, no ? Yes there are plenty of examples of such deeds but the situation in the Greek lands was incredibly complex and not as simple as it isusually presented with the statement that Alexander united the Greeks. In fact it's the strife at "home" that drives many of his generals in some aspect to prompt Alexander to return and show that he is "Greek" to the people. Pyrrhus would encounter heavy resistance both from the nobility and the general population of much of the regions that we at this time call as the land of the Hellenes. Putting the crown on your head is one thing, but to be it is a world far detached from romantic fantasy that we like to create when learning about history at a trivial level. But there is nothing wrong with that, everyone has to start somewhere and it is that seeming romantic nature that drives most of us to learn more about it.
Actually, he did try to conquer Macedon and occupied it temporarily before getting kicked out. He then turned west when that failed.
Never has a man failed so hard at everything he tried to do, but is still remembered as a great general.
Epirus is tough but fun. Ran a Epirus-Magna Graceia-Hellenic League-Agread Empire run recently
New imperator rome video, life is good ❤
"That's A lot of dead Romans."
Me when Hannibal walks into Italy.
Laith mustve been shooting for the goblet of fire with those beautiful locks
"LAITH, DID YOU PUT YA NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIYA" Pyrrhus asked calmly
Making me want to take another run at Epirus now, although in my first run the Carthaginians and Etruscans were OP, crushed Rome, and then allied together to push me out of Magna Graecia.
Pyrrhus is the true heir to Alexander Empire!
Every time I'm playing total war or a paradox game and i get stuck and don't know what to do. I ask myself "What would Pyrrhus do?"
damn epirus got 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 👅
The hell ?
@@joundii3100 sorry, got a lil bit too 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 👅 typing that comment
About that 42% siege, If you'd look and learn the mathematics behind imperator siege you would realise that's normal ... Still quite painful when it happens put perfectly possible... (Basically you reached the maximum "siege time" modifier but the percentage was still low due to the strength of the fortification and you lack of engineers and siegecraft. So every tick you get the events (defender desertion, famine, water shortage ...) but the chance of a winning roll stays 42%
I recently played Imperator Rome and played Epirus.
on 1st run: Pyrrhus died while sieging Enemy Argos. Restart
2nd Run: Allied Argos, Argos was captured by enemy. I siege Argos to free my ally, Pyrrhus dies. Restart
3rd Run: Use Mercenaries and conquered Argos to prevent rooftile event. Thought I had finally prevented his death. While warring with Greek city states, my levy led by Pyrrhus just stepped on Argos and died instantly.... FFS. restart.
So the rooftile event will play as long as an army led by Pyrrhus steps on Argos. Anyone had went through what I had?
Laith, if you go into "diplomatic view" you can see pirate bases on the map and then either send an army or your ships to destroy the base. Please do this, I am dying here.
"i dont know what a magna grecia" what a disgrase of a map painter
From the perspective of his enemies, Pyrrhus is basically "If God grants us the grace to lose such a battle again, Your Majesty can count on all of his enemies being destroyed" personified.
The amount of uploads has been amazing!
I love the fact that Imperator is sort of back
I also named my ginger tabby after him, what a crazy coincidence
Ubisoft just announced Anno 117: Pax Romana.
This is a Roman-themed Anno game.
This means that the Roman time period might get some more traction.
28:07 Yeah I'd call that a Pyrrhic victory.
Laith's hair just keeps getting more magnificent by the day
Love that you keep making Imperator content! A super underrated game
Unclear why the channel name isn't "Laith's Luscious Locks".
As someone of Epirote blood, this pleases me.
Archimedes: inventor of the weapons of war that began an arms race localized entirely within the Olympics.
Laith is fastly approaching top mop-head levels! Now we just need som soap and hot water!
This was a pretty great one! Sequel pls?
Another Imperator day Laith? This time try being everyone in who’s keep and can help resuscitate IMPERATOR. Qarbit, Ludi, OPB, Chewy, Spiffing, Feedback, Lambert.. BRJNG IT BACK, GO HAM!
on the bright side, every victory is a Pyrrhic victory if you're Pyrrhus
This feels like Sparta, it seems most Greek states in this game seem to have some sort of military buff (not Athens for example). Pyrrhus and the op generals surely help against Rome.
Oh and Laith: You fight like a goatherder! (jk) 😉
Pretty sure it's just Sparta and Epirus with the serious military buffs. Sparta in particular has incredible bonuses to discipline.
14:00 Very appopriate words for this video
Epirus is my favorite nation to play in Imperator, in the rare case I actually play that game instead of eu4.
If there’s anything I want in mods or updates is to figure out more ways to get food into a city. It’s seems very odd to me that imports are the only choice once you get above 40 or so population. Even if it’s reasonable in a historical context it sucks that quite literally every single import is concentrated on food especially when you have a metropolis.
yay imperator, yay epirus. did you know you can form YELLOW macedon as epirus? lol
How are always getting mercs, I’m never allowed any after I hit regional power.
Dude's playing Imperator: Rome 💀
YOU RETURNED RESTORER OF IMPERATOR
Bruh... not sending pyrrhus away? not a true pyrrhus fan
I'm fairly sure you mismanaged the succession stuff at the beginning. You're supposed to side against pyrrhus, and he goes and chills in egypt for a bit and then comes back with an army and *then* you have him take charge (which is what happened historically, btw)
Well the saying pyrrhic victory came from a battle vs romans where he won but lost alot of troops. It wasn't the norm for hin lol.
12:47 He definetly not play Rome 2 total war
Back in the ancient times he used to be called Phyrrus. But now we live in a digital age so he's E-pirus.
I'll see myself out.
Can you play the elder scrolls mod for Imperator?
Epirus is one of my favorites too!
22:06 how does some random Pirate Captain have more Martial then f*cking Pyrrhus of Epirus.
You won't live 1 YEAR playing Freakirus (disembodied by every major power)
More Imperator Rome LESSGOOOOOOOOOOO
Next up try out Athens!!!
The Laith streak never stops
Pirus liked this video ✅️
Idk Pyrrhus had similar flaws to Hannibal, in that he was not the best politician and couldn’t translate tactical wins into strategic wins.
23:20 about 1 in 4000 sieges, which is rare but as you run a channel when you do these sieges literally for a living it's probably fair.
Laith from theFreakyStreamers 👅
24:24 Jajajajaja My EYES 😂😂😂😂😂😢😢
Epirote representation babyyy!
Im playing iron mode but not getting achievements
the sponge
Ah Pyrrhos… a man with no attention span and an incredible military talent
It makes me laugh how different history might have been if he could have just stayed in one place for more than a couple of years (and also not make everyone hate him)
Woah when did the channel name change happen
yeah it annoyed me quite a bit
We losing thousands of men with this one 🗣🔥🔥

Just started playing this game and the addiction is real
Love the Imperator content! Glad to see this game finally getting some love.
have you considered a haircut?
I just love hating Rome in Imperator, they are the only pop I demote to slaves when I conquer their provinces. Thanks for still making Imperator vids! Maybe Syracuse or Athens, next?
Funny thing is Im pretty sure Neoptolemos has the blood of Alexander? So that would make him the more ideal king 👀
what does blood have to do with ability to rule?
Laith is a FREAK for not playing a Fire Emblem Game! Day 219
You need to grow a beard to balance out the long hair, dosent have to be that long, but can’t be clean shaven. That or shorten it to a crew cut like you used to have it.
🇬🇷hellas
im gay
🇬🇷
Day 27 of asking you to play Victoria 2 semi regulary.
oh gods I hope he never does...
Man your letting your hair grow out.
I really want an imperator 2
Day 265 of asking for an Oranje Free State Playthrough of Vicky 3.
I hope he never does it...
@@gawkthimm6030 You got a hundred more videos till he does, most likely.
Yo
I haven't watched in a while, good God Laith what happened to your hair!?
Play epirus in eu4 pla
If you didn't at least nickname your cat purrhos (pyrrhos) then I so disappointed in you.
Its Albania
First?
what if epirus was called freakyrus and did freaky things to the romans, carthaginians, and other greeks
you need a hair cut
Why do you wear a wig?
that hair ain't it fam
Are you wearing a wig?
Stop trying to make Imperator happen, it's not gonna happen.
Stop hating, it's a great game and has the potential to be paradox best game
