  • How to do a Manual DPF Regeneration / Burn
    A lot of Cannon owners have been lucky and never needed to do a manual burn. But for the ones that have i hope this video helps.
    Just a very straight forward process that sounds intimidating when you read it in the manual haha
    My Cannon has gone into limp mode 3 times so far. Just drive it with the manual paddles to a safe place and do the manual burn. Happy Days. It's that simple!

    Hey mate wanted to ask a question I now own a gwm cannon l I’m about to hit 1000km on the clock. Haven’t seen a dpf burn come on yet. If you bought your car new how long did it take for your first burn? Cheers

    Awsome mate I've been watching you guys for a while now and have just purchased a black cannon awsome ute I love it but can you tell me when do they first do a auto burn I've only got 1200klms on it

      That's awesome mate!! Thanks for watching!
      My first auto burn was around 2000kms but some start earlier. Some people's auto burned straight away.
      It all depends on fuel quality and driving conditions I guess.
      My ute auto burns all the time. But my wife keeps turning the car off when auto burn is happening haha it always starts at the worst time. So our car needs manual burns sometimes. A bit annoying but it's all part of the fun haha
      Enjoy your Cannon!!

    Mate, I've very seriously been looking at Cannons. The L and X. I was told about your blogs, but have not yet watched all of them. What l see I really enjoy 💥
    I have a '13 Twin cab Hilux to sell.. I am making the right decision? I've driven a couple of late, and want to plan a trip next April. Perth to at least Rockhampton and more.. l do appreciate the 7 year warranty etc. I don't plan to tow, but 3 tonne seems to go alright, all the same. I have yet watched or heard you mention your economy yet. Hopefully 9.4 - 10 or 12?
    Would be awesome to hear from you. Good luck, and safe travelling. You're very inspiring to me, and surely many others.

      Thanks for your comment mate :) The Cannon is so damb nice! Look my fuel economy isn't a great example because I thrash the crap out of mine hahaha I give it heaps. I really thought I would have killed it by now but it's been so bloody good. We've towed our 3t caravan around Australia and done 41000kms. It's been perfect! I would pick this vehicle again! I have 2 of my best mates driving them now too. Gwm gang haha
      Fuel when towing 3T is around 17.5 which kills other Ute's etc.
      I get around 12L per 100 when not towing but as I said I give it heaps haha
      I hope this helps and good luck mate.
      Mine Is the Cannon L. I love it
      Feel free to ask any more questions :)
      If you scroll through my channel in gear and reviews I've got plenty of reviews of the ute in there. And mine are legit because it's actually my ute.
      And I'd tell ya straight up if it was a heap of Shi* hahaha
      I've done all the tough track around Aus too!
      Cheers

      @@wheelsbytheoceanThanks Legend! I towed a new 2t Coromal 20 footer, back in '09 to Rocky. Our consumption was shite, in a Hyundai Terracan 😅
      I'll be sure to send my drone up too. Would love to do a lap, but probably only take 6 - 7 weeks off work. A quick one, maybe. You wouldn't have many Ks' left for your 5 year capped services when you finish your trip..54k cut-off! 😅
      Go easy mate, and have a few beers for me too. Cheers 🍻

    thanks for this vid, it answers a couple of questions, I've been lucky so far and my Cannon does its DPF clean with no impact on the driveability of the car - I've also been lucky that everytime it has occurred when I'm driving on a highway.
    Just wondering if I could ask an unrelated question and sorry if you have covered this in another vid. How do you deal with the sensors barking at you when you're towing your caravan? I was towing a trailer the other day and while its great to have the cameras so you can back up to the trailer, each time you come to an intersection it thinks you're too close to something so it starts squealing until you start driving again. Can you turn the noise off? cheers

    • @wheelsbytheocean
      @wheelsbytheocean  8 місяців тому +2

      Gday :) thanks for watching.
      I turned my cameras off the day I bought the car. So you know how to the camera comes up every time you slow down. I hated that so I turned it straight off. So sensors don't go off.
      Also as part of the tow bar wiring harness there is a little circuit breaker wire that when you open the tow plug is deactivates the rear sensors. So mine doesn't go off with the caravan on....
      I don't think I'm being very helpful with this one sorry...

    I just want to mention I’ve not experienced the 2023 Cannon X slowing when DPF starts self cleaning when on the go. Just pondering?

    • @wheelsbytheocean
      @wheelsbytheocean  26 днів тому

      I only notice the slowing when I've got a 3T Caravan on the back.
      So towing 3T and the dpf starts a burn the power drops.
      I can't feel it when I'm not towing
      Cheers 🍻

    Hi mate, does a burn complete if it starts auto burn while you’re driving and you park up and leave the car running?

    • @wheelsbytheocean
      @wheelsbytheocean  Місяць тому +1

      Yes the auto burn will complete but apparently it's better if driving as it gets the exhaust hotter so burns better.

    • @wheelsbytheocean
      @wheelsbytheocean  8 місяців тому +3

      Yeah the regular way around is super uncomfortable in my opinion. Definitely looks better when they are on correct but I don't like how it pushes your head forward. All the stuff they had to do to get the 5 star ancap rating 😀

  • @Trenticl

    Do you find that the dpf burn comes up less if you're doing lots of highway driving vs driving around town? Or doesn't really matter?

    • @wheelsbytheocean
      @wheelsbytheocean  7 місяців тому

      Yeah if doing lots of highway driving it doesn't need manual burn to often as it does lots of auto burns when do highway / longer driving. If only do short drives and don't finish the auto burns then it will want a manual burn sometimes.

    • @Trenticl
      @Trenticl 7 місяців тому

      Hey thanks for answering my question :) do you run a catch can at all? Im curious if doing so would reduce soot production the point where the frequency of dpf burns is reduced 🧐

    So call me stupid, but was the limp home mode that you mate experienced a result of it wanting to do a DPF burn, or was that unrelated.

    • @wheelsbytheocean
      @wheelsbytheocean  8 місяців тому +3

      Hey :)
      If the car needs a manual DPF burn then it goes into limp mode and you need to find a safe place to do a Manual Burn as per my vid. This happens sometimes as the DPF unit in exhaust is clogged and needs a regen to burn all the crap out of it.
      The car does Auto DPF burns on a regular basis and causes no issues.
      My friend had no idea what was going on with the LIMP MODE as he thought it was normal haha.
      I hope this answers your question
      Cheers

    • @BenMitro

      @@wheelsbytheocean Cool, thought that was the case, but....stupid.

    • @wheelsbytheocean
      @wheelsbytheocean  8 місяців тому

      @BenMitro it would be annoying if you lend the car to someone and they don't know about it. GWM should really come up with a better option for this.
      Maybe just a light that pops up and gives you maybe 50kms to complete the burn. Not just go into Limp mode. Very silly.

    • @raymondbourke7957
      @raymondbourke7957 8 місяців тому +2
