    🎛️ Gear in this video
    - Analog Rytm MKII - [US bit.ly/3InA2BU] [EU bit.ly/3kshMz7]
    In this video I make techno music on "just" one drum machine - Elektron Analog Rytm. It is the Best Drum Machine ever! I ended up creating 2 different techno tracks at 142 bpm and they are weird/good enough to share.
    I used analog kick drum, hat, clap, tom, snare, dual vco. I also used some synth samples, lots of overdrive, distortion, reverb, delay and compressor. Elektron Workflow and Sequencer are so amazing for a Dawless Techno Jam.

    🌍 Hello World! My name is Ihor.
    This is my channel where I share my experiences, ideas, reviews and tutorials related to Electronic Music Production. I focus mostly on Techno and House music. In my Studio on my Music Production Desk you will find a variety of different gear like: digital and analog synth, eurorack modular, drum machine, sampler, effect, mixer, guitar pedal, MIDI controller. Also software: DAW, Ableton, VST, plugins.
    I am myself an engineer and I am quite obsessed with the Music Technology and Sound Design. I like making music without a computer. I like playing Electronic Music Live with my Minimal Dawless Setup. I love Eurorack Modular Techno and always keen to talk about the modular workflow.
    I strongly believe that nothing can be better than a good Dawless Techno Jam!
    I watched all the Techno Tutorials on UA-cam! (I think)
    📺 Thanks for watching! And have fun!
    ✌️ Peace.

While not perfect (what is) it checks so many boxes and the abilty to use samples and analog sounds together is very powerful. Overbridge is a bonus. Highly recommended and worth the premium. What about drums into modular? Using them I'm starting to think that is unconvinient and not really worth... I'm thinking to buy a rytm or a digitakt.

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  3 роки тому +2

      Hey! Glad you liked it.
      I thought about the modular drums too. It all depends on the use case perhaps. My main intention was to have analog drums for my future live sets. Having them inside of one Elektron box was just a win win situation for me. I know Elektron workflow really well. Everything is “patched” inside of the Rytm and then it is a matter of simply recalling kits and patterns.
      I use modular drum modules so far mostly to create some weird perc loops. And then use them on the OT or DT. Using these modules tho in live situations would be a little hard for me, I think. However I see a lot people do it! Which is incredible and blows my mind to be honest!
      Anyway. Thanks for kicking in! ✌️

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  2 роки тому

      Hey man! Thank you! Glad you liked it!
      Regarding an LFO on panning you are right, I use it quite a lot. Usually I'd go with either slow triangle, or random with hold. And not too much on depth. Regarding the compressor, I don't remember really. And unfortunately I don't have that project anymore. But as much as I remember I used it quite slightly to glue things up. Nothing too special honestly. For sure I used distortion on the master bus! I love to use it a little bit. Up to 20-24.

    • @tendingtropic7778
      @tendingtropic7778 2 роки тому

      @@IhorMedia thank you for the reply! really love the sound. could you perhaps just shortly explain how you generally set the compressor settings (to glue things up)? would be awesome, thanks!

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  2 роки тому

      @@tendingtropic7778 I use more or less default attack, release and ratio settings. Set makeup to 0, mix and threshold to max. Then I start slowly bringing threshold back until I start hearing compression kicking in. Then I will bring this threshold a little bit back, because when I hear compression it is already too much for gluing. And this all depends on the loudness of the entire track you created. Distortion adds a lot of loudness for example. So make this compression stage the last one.

    there isvone trick especially useable for techno, psytrance and in general all harder emusic subgenres - fast (1k or 2k) lfo > pan mod.. it adds interesting mixture of stereo spread and rong mid dirtyness to sound - it works literally on everything - bass, leads, even hihats .. i'm literally overusing this effect :-)

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  2 роки тому +1

      Oh dude! I love that trick! Also! Try to param lock the that fast (1k or 2k) LFO Depth. In that way you get some really weird stereo movement.
      Another trick! This one is possible on the Digitakt. Drone sound, that is continuously playing, fast LFO1 into pan, and LFO2 a touch into LFO1 Depth. It gets a little clunky at times, but there are some extremely cool sweet spots.
      I am overusing LFO > pan so much! You are not alone dude! Pity that you can't multitrack record that into Overbridge.

  • @tendingtropic7778
    @tendingtropic7778 2 роки тому

    thanks! at 8.55 you talk about the lfo on the hi hat, but I don't see you putting it on the hihat in the video, could you please explain how you did that?

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  2 роки тому +1

      I think there I was talking about the LFO on the Reverb filter cutoff. I talk about it at 3:31. Since I sent hihat sound into reverb at times its reverb sounds brighter, and at times darker.

  • @martintaylor9205
    @martintaylor9205 3 роки тому

    Hi Ihor just another daft question but why would you need Digitakt if you have Rytm as seems it can do more, mind u I’m getting Digitakt as Rytm out of my budget
    Many thanks your friend from🇬🇧🇬🇧👍🎶🎶🎶🆒🌟

    • @IhorMedia
      @IhorMedia  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Martin! Thanks for your question.
      I got Rytm because I really wanted to have some analog drum kit. Not samples, but actual synths. So the Rytm perfectly covers that part. However I agree that DT and Rytm overlap quite a lot. But there is always "but"! For example DT is way much more powerful when it comes to MIDI and sequencing external gear, or (with recent update) it has mixer and some more capabilities when it comes to playing external audio. On the other hand Rytm can layer a sample with an analog voice on the same track. Or that fact that Rytm has many analog parts (overdrive, filter, distortion, compressor). At the end it is all about the usecase.
      Long story short: DT is a must have for me and perhaps it will never go out of my studio, unless it's me taking it with me on vacation or travel. Rytm is more like "I need these analog drums for my techno track" kinda dude.
      Hope that answers your question.
