I am starting a new job tomorrow and I thought I would renew my lath skills and watch a few videos. This video was very informative and kept me interested. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to watch this video. Thanks for post!
Nice job 👍🏽 enjoyed watching this video, I’m a carpenter, and I always like to watch other trades work their magic on the field. It’s amazing how we all work together in order to create homes. Keep it up 💯
Nice Job. The knife at the back of the rapid tacker is not as dangerous most think. This is because it gets a little gummy from the asphalt paper. Sharp enough to cut paper. You must be in So Cal. I go across country and in the east coast they hate woven wire. Keep up the good work . Mark, executive Director the Stucco Manufacturers Assoc.
This Channel needs to win an award! Just read the comments! So many vets from the industry are praising the work ethic and professionalism of these young gentlemen! Their family taught them well! + It’s concise! Exactly the right amount of bullet proof information (instruction & purpose)!
Thanks for the video brings back so many fond memories from the 70s, till 20s the stucco trade provided for my family, now I'm just an older guy, but still kicking and love this work.
you definitely deserve to get paid good money for this. didn't know how labor intensive and carefully installed it was if done like a pro before I saw this video
I been doing lathe since 11 im 23 going in 24 next month this was good on info for. Others but as long as this video is I could’ve been finished with this out house this is exactly how my pops taught me as a kid and I enjoyed every day working with him and my tio and brothers
This video is so satisfying to watch. I don't know anything about construction or what all this is for, just popped up on my feed and I couldn't stop watching. Liked and subscribed.
Man this was cool to watch. This was one trade I’ve always wanted to do but instead I was a stucco labor finisher and I hated it . I lathe twice and I loved it. I remember cutting the window wire and using the sharp end of my hammer to push in the ends. I wish you would have shown the j trim around the door and explain hot it works and also that some people use t&g foam and tape. I also wish you would have shown the different style of corner bead . I remember eye balling the top of the corner bead and the bottom then using a string line to get it straight . This video brought back memories 👌🏾 oh also, for those of you who don’t know , they make double layer paper 🤙🏾
So sick I want to try and remodel my man cave but have little experience in this part of construction. I think I might try it looks like fun. I love learning new things
Hope you know that you should be proud of a job well done. Not every one - and certainly some in construction industry like in every trade/industry/field - don't bring that work ethic. So kudos for being a craftsman.
Nice video, informative with detail. Do you ever show a close up and more detail of cutting around windows and door frames? Thanks for making it look easy!
Great video, thank you! Question for you--how loose should the wire be? I know you don't want it to be flush up against the wall so that the stucco can key in.
Very helpful thank you. I'm kind of confused on the lath nails though. Should I use the furring nails or does the stucco adhere when the lath is flat??
good job boss I do stucco drivett and IFEs system in Pennsylvania but I think you should use king rainscreen on top of the paper this creates an air flow between the cement and the paper and drains the moisture and water from the cement to the paper

Hey, I'm just asking if you were going to put some plaster stop/ J trim around the window and door? It's not advised to go directly to the window and door frame with the mud. This should also be around the bottom. This will protect the trim and give a cleaner look. I use red tuck tape or rubber seal to seal around doors and windows when needed. Im just suggesting nothing personal. I am plasterer 1963😊 London ONTARIO Canada
Nice work buddy you have given me the idea of how to do it your self this will be my first time doing this in my own house thank you.but i have one question what do I put on the very bottom where the 2x4 meats the flat ground to prevent water from coming in maybe an L flashing?
best to use double head nails when installing the wood straight edge to the corners after the first base coat has beed applied. That way it can be tightly applied and still easily removed. The wood is best being one pc, 1x4” size is good and the length should be from the bottom to the top of the corner. It isnt necessary to plumb the piece with a level when installing it, just follow the wall and allow for the thickness of the second base coat.
Great Video!!, I’m going to start applying the Black Paper to My Garage, it’s My first time doing this type of work. What kind of Stapler do you recommend to use and what size staples? Thanks!!🤙
For just a small job I’m going to use furring nails cause I don’t. Have a pneumatic stapler not worth it to buy or rent for a 6’ by 8 ‘. Area. I wasn’t sure how many though I know enough to nail it were the wires are intertwined and every 6” on the studs but everything else I’m just guessing and worried about getting embarrassed at inspection.
Is that the same process for adobe? I assume maybe for the staples you would use a nail with a tang? I don't know jack sh-t, and I gotta fix my wall in NM.
Dude, thank you for taking the time to capture this and put it on UA-cam! Very insightful!

How much u get paid to say that
I did a lath job had it inspected, the inspector made me remove the staples and use furring nails.
3:33 - He must have a stapler that has to be On Studs - ?.I was thinking , it's just going into the OSB , (?)
I thought it was common sense until I saw your video. Great job, and thank you for taking the time to share.
I've been lathing since I was 13 bro (family trade) and I've got to say you pretty much got it all right! Props, keep doing your thing!
Only one thing he forgot to flash the bottom pipe
I've been doing since I was 5
The blade taped to the slap-tacker is an old lather trick, that made me smile.
Nice job 👍🏽 enjoyed watching this video, I’m a carpenter, and I always like to watch other trades work their magic on the field. It’s amazing how we all work together in order to create homes. Keep it up 💯

Great video. It kills me how many people have zero idea what they're doing and make videos. Wild.
you definitely deserve to get paid good money for this. didn't know how labor intensive and carefully installed it was if done like a pro before I saw this video
Thank you 👍 a lot of people don’t explain the little details and show how it’s done, keep up the work

Outstanding --You made it look to easy but very Professional
Great video, thank you! Question for you--how loose should the wire be? I know you don't want it to be flush up against the wall so that the stucco can key in.
Enjoy the tip 1:30 really much needed ima have to use that at work
2:23 that was smooth and makes work more easier than pulling out a actual blade to cut
thanks for this video ... I'll start to place the cardboard and the mesh.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Your knife idea is slick. Thanks for the vid keep it up!
Very helpful thank you. I'm kind of confused on the lath nails though. Should I use the furring nails or does the stucco adhere when the lath is flat??
I think most stucco lathe nowadays comes prefurred. No need to use the nails with the cardboard bushings
I needed this 🙌 💛 thank you JESUS
Your job is very nice very important
Very good job thank you for the video! I would like to know if you have a video putting the stucco again thank you!

Great skills, great video, to the point, great workmanship
excellent explanation for beginners like me, thank you, ask, what material is the stucco made of?

You can apply waterproof membrane along the bottom. And a L metal caulked to the floor 👍
@@pandaplastering2466 thank you
Se ve la experiensia buen trabajo todo muy bien yo yo soy plaster pero tanbien ago eso ya por 18 años saludos 👍👍👍
Hi nice video. Can you please explain why there's a need to do separate scratch and brown coats? Why can't you just place a 3/4" thick single coat?
You made it look easy . Thank you .

You don't use furring nails to hold the wire away from the wail ?
You don’t have to use stucco molding?

Great job and useful video. Thank you.
Where are your casing beads and metal flashing around & above opening? )))
That’s some heavy paper. I use 2 ply 10minute. Even under paperback wire. Good job.
Chingona carnal bien grabado y biem explicado.saludos
May I ask do we need to go double the paper whole house or just the first (lowest) layer only? Thanks in advance
The galvanized nails with 1/2” of paper on the , they dont use anymore?
Beautiful work my mann

Great quality content, great detailed explanation.
Me gusto en la forma que lo ase y lo esplica espero aprender algo de eso gracias❤❤❤
Is that the same process for adobe? I assume maybe for the staples you would use a nail with a tang? I don't know jack sh-t, and I gotta fix my wall in NM.
Do u install the corner bead last thanks awesome video
Nice video bro ! I really enjoyed it .
I wonder if this is the same procedure to install bricks instead of stucco ?
My stapler only goes 1/4”wide but 1 1/2” length do you think it can work for a small project?
