I’m new to all of this and was curious about what monitor to get that is compatible with a a6400 as I don’t think this one is. I am also wondering if there are any more monitors like this where you can record off of them and change camera settings and stuff like this one. I am not sure if that feature is special or if every monitor does that. If you could help me and give me some advice on what monitor to get that can record and control camera settings off of for a sony a6400 I would greatly appreciate it. hope all is well
All monitors are compatible with your camera as long as you have the right HDMI cable. But you won't be able to control the A6400 camera with any monitor. There are only a few Portkeys models that have that feature, other brands don't. But the feature won't work with your camera because your camera is too old.
I saw you had some nice slow motion footage. As I shoot birds in wildlife I shoot a lot of 4k 100p footage. Does this monitor still show image (and have all normal functions) when shooting at 4k 100p? I use a sony zve1. If so its an instant buy from me.
Yes you will have an image and access to all the monitor's features at 4K/100p. I shoot at 4K/120p all the time with it. But just to be clear, the image you'll see on the monitor itself will be in 1080p even though you are recording in 4K in camera.

Not that much. It's not louder than an Atomos Ninja V for example. If you use it for an interview in a silent room, you'll hear it a little but outdoors filming sports is not an issue at all.
Thank you for the review. I connected my fx30 to this monitor but I don't see the option for the focus. Focus option is there but touch focus isnt. Is there a way to fix it?

I had the same apprehension regarding the wireless control because there's usually a delay with these things, but this one has no delay or apparent latency. It is the same as looking directly at your camera LCD screen and changing the settings directly on the body.
Yes, definitely. I really like it. There was a small color and brightness adjustment to make for the image to be identical to my camera LCD screen but, other than that, no complaints.
It's not that bad. When filming sports, it won't make any difference. But if you're filming an interview in a studio, I wouldn't keep the microphone next to the monitor.
Learn to focus!!! If you think the camera can solve your needs buy autofocus you're wrong because one time it'll bite you on the ass. Theres a reason why every top level televised sport has camera operators using manual focus. Because you're the one in charge of where that focus plane should be.
I agree with most of what you’re saying. But it’s a bit unfair to compare single shooters to sports broadcast cameramen. In broadcast, the cameraman only handles framing and focus. The exposure and colors are controlled by a separate CCU person in the control room. So it’s ultimately a 2 man job.
