This is the best golf advice I’ve ever seen. After watching it, I went to the range, and, for the first time ever, didn’t slice a single shot. It’s transformed my attitude to playing. I’ve just joined a course that runs anti-clockwise with all the trouble and OOBs on the right. So it’s a nightmare for a slicer. Was considering joining somewhere else, more open. But not now. I read some of the comments herewith disbelief. But, I can honestly say, that following the straightforward advice, I now find it so easy to avoid the dreaded slice. Amazing tips gents. Many, many thanks.
I have hit a constant fade / slice for 25 years and every tip or video I have watched it was all about ball positioning and getting a strong grip (knuckles on top with the left hand and on the bottom of the right hand). You name it and I have tried it. Your video addressed getting the shaft out of the palm. Wow, what a change, I was never so happy to see a few duck hooks. Like you said, now it’s a matter of how much to roll the right hand. Thank you for your video!!
addressing his baseball swing was very beneficial to me - as I feel like that is one of the causes of my never ending slice. Will incorporate all these tips -Thanks
Tried forever to fix slice, lessons and lots of internet / UA-cam views. Finally followed direction to adjust left hand club grip and placement of ball and it WORKED! Had my best round of golf yesterday.
I always knew the ball should be in front of the golf stance but you guys made me try again and over exaggerate it. And it made it so my club face is almost impossible to be open to the path of the swing. Probably the best tip to fix a slice without drastically changing someone’s golf swing. Thanks guys.
Off to Top Golf for fun today with my son. Timing for vid to align, grip and rotate....priceless! Earlier viewed chipping vid. Should be a fun Sunday! Much Appreciated!
Hi, friend I want to thank you, this video helped me a lot in my game with the Driver, since I had a fade and sometimes I hit forehand and bad shots almost a slice. The tip of as if I were shaking hands, the right one, solved a problem for me and generated more distance. Many blessings and continued success, thank you, Pedro, Caracas, Venezuela
The grip! I just picked up my driver and felt everything you mentioned! Brilliant! Like beer in a bottle! I can’t wait to hit the range. I absolutely know that this will correct my slice. I myself change to an extremely strong grip to prevent my slice. It works most of the time, but sometimes causes me to pull the ball really badly. As I said, I can’t wait to try this new grip. It feels very comfortable so I won’t take a lot to adapt to.
As a baseball player now playing more golf I always felt like I hit the ball hard, but always to the right. I went to the driving range yesterday after watching this video. I can't hit it right when I do the things talked about in this video. Also the comment about the thumbs really helped me as well.
Great video guys, exactly the video I needed. I definitely have my grip a little further up in the hand. I’m hoping these tips will contribute towards a better drive for myself. Ball position for me is probably also a couple of balls back from the left heel! Will test out on the course this morning :)
I play off 6 handicap If I didn't use my driver I can level par with my handicap may be 2 or 3 over at worst I have had driver lessons but I never feel confident till this video explaining step by step I am really excited to follow this fanatic tips I can't thank you enough both.
Thank you I have learned quite a bit just watching your videos. I wish you guys were around like to get lot better with my game. Long time slicers I do need help with my slice.
My goodness this was a Godsend... I never realized it, but with my favorite clubs I always gripped correctly. With my driver I was ALWAYS in my palm. I have not been able to figure out why I drive to the right despite correcting other mistakes. THANK YOU!
I’m so glad they didn’t use an example of an over the top swing. I have the same problem. My club head is in to out but I still hit a slice. I’m just like jimmy. I’m def going to practice these changes. HUGE help guys! I love the vid.
As a lifelong baseball player myself, the biggest thing I figured out was that in a baseball swing, your thumbs are behind the bat/club, in a more parallel plane of the ground. While in golf, the thumbs are more perpendicular with the ground. That was the most mind changing thing I had as a baseball player gone golfer. I hope this helps someone!
@@traviscunningham3684 When you address the ball, take note of where your thumbs are. They should be on top of the club, and that’s basically where they should be when you impact the ball during your swing. If you were hitting a baseball or a softball with a bat, you should feel like your thumbs are behind the leading edge of the bat at impact. Essentially your hands are rotated 90° clockwise (for a righty. Would be 90° counter-clockwise for a lefty) when impacting a ball with a bat than when impacting a golf ball. If you hold a golf club normally and then rotate your hands 90°, the face opens dramatically where you can very much understand how the ball is slicing. So for me it’s important to get the feeling that my hands are rotating to where my thumbs are on top of the club at impact, not feeling like they are behind the club, which leads to the slice. I hope this helps.
Yes!! Ive got this problem..been issuing it with how my wrist it. It bends...and it shouldnt bend! But this problem is mucj easier to adress as a thumb problem! I played " pesäpallo" ...finnish national game..where you serve the ball upwards over a serving plate. Much easier to hit...thats the philosophy in this game. Look it up if you are intrested! Anyway...thanks you A Lot!!!
HOLD ON.... It WORKS! Lol the past 2 years after no golf from 2014 til 2021 I have been slicing all my drives and long clubs 90 percent of the time 30 to 50 yards off line! 🤣 I have been trying too many things to correct this problem and had not had any sort of consistent result. Round to round and practice to practice each time felt as though it was the first time standing at address and then just being totally off balance and doing one "weird" thing or not has totally messed my mind and game up. Sometimes standing at address for 30 seconds only to stop mid backswing. Just felt very uncomfortable and overthinking my whole setup and follow through. BOTTOM LINE, The part where u show your grip on the club and hold it with just the index finger and meat of the palm... was a lightbulb moment for me! I hit some balls immediately after reviewing your tips and the first 2 shots were bad only becuase I was overcompensating and my tempo was toooo slow. Took a step back for a moment pointed my heel inward about an inch, followed by my own 4 things at address and YOUR GRIP COPIED AS BEST AS I COULD and had 6 consecutive 200-220 carry, and 0-7 yd. Dev and just felt like 👍 👌 THANK YOU! I hope It wasn't a fluke!
AS OTHERS COMMENTED - I too thought my grip was where it should be but was More in my palm than the base of the forefinger and so on. That one simple thing made my grip and comfort/confidence level so much more natural feeling!
Been trying to get back into golf over the last year,on and off, but found i always slice the drive, been watching these videos over the last week or so and just been back out on the course. Learning and adjusting ,my grip, feet position from the videos etc,ive hit 14 out of 14 straight drives, and all good distance, orher 4 holes were par 3s, now next job is to work on my 2nd shot, which is good at times then dreadfull.
Thank you guys for this lesson!!! I thought I had the correct grip, I went and checked my grip finding that I was palming the club. I will need larger grips thanks for the tip.
Gents, a timely lesson for me. I did get out of my chair, grabbed a driver and tested my grip…and yes I had to change it to position it out of the palm and back to where it should be and straight away it felt “right”. So easy to overlook a basic fundamental when setting up. I often find my myself rushing with the driver swing and over swinging, so would be interested in your thoughts on how to establish and engrain a good repeatable tempo. Any wise words/tips would be appreciated or point me to another one of your lessons if it covered elsewhere in your lesson library. Much appreciate your work guys, keep it coming.
I just started golfing… Only been to the range because I have a baseball swing and slice everything.. Thank you for this! I’m going to take all of this into account next time out.
@@nickgarofalo6794 I have started hitting more straight, I still have a bit of a slice but not as bad. Sometimes I get a nice straight ball. Just need to keep watching and practicing
The more I became honest with myself I thought back on baseball, idk if you had this problem but I would also hit a weird slice in baseball or pull the ball. I really can’t remember hitting center field too much. I had 6 homeruns in high school and the furthest one actually drew. Started dead center and had a draw out to left center
I know I’m going to have a good day off the tee if I am only missing left. So much easier for me to get that back to center or a slight draw. The 2 way miss is the worst, usually takes half the round to figure it out
Exactly what I am working on now with my driver .I found having my ball position off my big toe and not inside my heel line with both my feet flared open and the right foot set back a little works perfect for me and helps me to hit more from the inside to out path and not over the top .I changed to a stronger grip but I do not like to turn the fore arms over or roll the wrist to draw the ball ,I have faded /sliced the ball all my life ,I just want a baby draw or straighter shots .practice, practice,.. practice. Thanks for your lessons once again and I will continue to practice until I can get it right (I mean straighter ) ha ha . Make sure the club face is neutral or slightly shut to the swing arc on the way down (parallel with the spine is neutral). I agree, trying to time and roll the wrist is not good for your average amateur golfer.

Yup, ball position. Sometimes the tee box orientation will screw up my set up and I push it right. Maybe you can do a video about kicking out my right foot on my approach shots. I don’t even feel it happen but my golf partner will tell me it happens and it causes me to pull the ball. Must be a cause and effect but not sure what.
All good tips, the one thing missing which I struggle with is to stop coming over the top. Yes I shallow my back swing but every time I go to strike the ball its out side in by about 4 degrees which isn't horrible but it could be better. What are drills to get new muscle memory to force inside to out path? Overall Good video!
I've had a few lessons recently around driver, only a few minutes in to the video, however my pro is telling me not to have my feet as wide as I used to...shoulder width at most. Looking at your stance it seems to be munch wider...like what I used to play really. What could I take from this?
Tip for hitting my drives into the ground. Lots of of times my drives are going right into the grass about 30-50 yards off the tee box. Any drills to prevent this?
I know I'm getting old and I don't want to turn in my driver's license. I kept on topping my driver till I finally decided to go after my tee instead of the ball you have to have ball flight first, now I think I can work direction. New glasses coming soon get rid of bifocals for golf.
