Mia's such an awesome kid - great to see you two having fun, despite the lack of fish. Would have liked to have seen how the boat goes with the donk wide open.

Great video with your daughter. Memories for life. I installed the same long tail (212cc) on a sailing/camping 16' catamaran that I built a few years back. Mounted the motor just behind the front cross beam, deep in the deck. Long tail pivoted up and down, but no side pivot. As the drive pipe doesn't turn, I was able to tie a rope to it near the end, to raise it up and down. Up for sailing. Down for motoring. Starts in up position. Can't drop lower than ideal running depth. Rudders used to steer for sail and motor. Rudders didn't drop lower than hulls. Worked well and no damage from bottom contact. Used 3/4" electrical metal tubbing (EMT) to replace the exhaust system. Pipe bender to make a gentle "S" curve so pipe can run along drive pipe. 5 hose clamps keeps it locked onto drive pipe. Exhaust under water. Very quiet. It all worked very well.
Impressive build ! Simple, practical, quick way to get on the water without alot of labor cost & materials. Curious what the length of your pontoons (sponsons?) are ?
That's awesome. It's simple and works great. Mount some lightweight swivel chairs and it'd be perfect! I don't think I've ever seen a stingray in the wild, they're pretty cool.
I'm no fisherman either but I usually have good luck on the points at tide change, or around the lights aimed at the water at the wharf in whiti I slayed a few dorey with a spear not long ago
Seriously man I was thinking about doing this yesterday with a 10hp outboard and a hobie cat. I appreciate you sharing your skills knowledge and experience
@@michaelterrell3466 no but its because i ran out of space to store this stuff becausei have too many projects goin on. I still want to. But i will say my idea has evolved...now i want to put a picnic table on the hobie cat toons and make it hold an umbrella and an electric trolling motor

Thanks. It was wide open when I went past it goes 25 kph but the governor kicks in

That’s what I need the underwater exhaust it is a bit loud . It would be a cool setup for sailing and motoring

Yes very cheap boating ! They are 12ft pontoons
love you improvisation skills mate keep it up mate
Looks like lovely family fun!
I love simple but effective projects like that. Good performance at idle is the secret to having fun on the water
It goes surprisingly well at idle and wild run all day on a couple litres of fuel but the don’t really plane when going faster
Awesome.
Yes! New video. Is it a weedwacker. Very nice video. Looks like you had a great day.
Its simple yet entirely functional. Great use of a cat cos you can still sail it or convert it to petrol power.
Well done.
I got a secret for catching heaps of fish in your spot my father in law showed me......
Thanks for that
Whoa... the earth looks round today 😄

Yeah chairs would have been nice , there are a lot of sting rays around that area some are huge like 2 metres wide or 6 foot
@@DktheWelder do they actually sting people in the water? Excuse my ignorance but I know nothing about them
Heh chillybin
Simple, effective and fun
I'm no fisherman either but I usually have good luck on the points at tide change, or around the lights aimed at the water at the wharf in whiti I slayed a few dorey with a spear not long ago
Yeah I just kinda go when it’s a nice day and hope for the best, it is a shame though I really wanted my daughter to catch something
@@DktheWelder still looks like you guys had a mean little mission. That's the shit kids remember growing up. Dope
a bit of shadE sail up the front keep the water off bro cool long tail wheres the bike motor now? haha
Yeah that’s an idea plus could put some gear up there
You should make a hydrofoil boat next that would be awesome to see !!
Yes because that long tail will still reach the water no matter how high it is
Thanks for the vid I might make one from our rivers with a mud motor
Cool! Very stable and can get these catamarans for cheap
Seriously man I was thinking about doing this yesterday with a 10hp outboard and a hobie cat. I appreciate you sharing your skills knowledge and experience
It would be good for calm water the sit kinda low so you would get pretty wet if it’s rough
@@DktheWelder good to know
So now it's a year later, did you do it? I've been thinking about trying it too.

What a day for it! Now back to the rain haha
I know it has been raining non stop!
Imagine foil wings on this one
Hydrofoils would be awesome! Another thing on the to do list
