I think they used the short as a way to bridge the old ability and the new one cause at first she leaves it like the old ability but they break it then at the end she uses it more like the new ability to get into the jet as she's leaving cause she throws it and teleports right after. Pretty cool if that was the reason they did it but yeah leaving it is definitely old ability.
I think they actually reference it in a pretty smart way, as you can see in the short it doesn't work as it previously did, instead she uses it in the rework way (short distance insta-teleport).

This was such a good way to show his personality. A brute but a high intelligence brute. He may not excel at academic intellect but he has it where it matters.
I love how this takes place after the Gothamburg mission, nice that they remembered the continuity
I love how they made Mauga really violent but not a dumb meathead. He's smart and clever and that makes him even more dangerous.
"I could see the explosion, FROM SPES" I need this as a voiceline
I love characters like mauga. Big, brutish, cynical, but smart. An unpredictable all rounder. Easily underestimated but can always back it up.
And also a madman
idk if he's cynical, he sort of seemed the opposite in this short
@@lozeritis9612he may look cynical, but he is not
He's coming for Heavy's gig!
He's kinda a Himbo, but smarter (and more bloodthirsty).
It's never boring around this new hero.
It's never balanced around me.
Mauga is the scariest ow character. With doomfist and widow you know what you're dealing with, but mauga is unpredictable and dangerous
I'd say Sigma is even more so. At least Mauga knows what he's doing, Sigma is just competely out of touch with reality.
@@adalwolf8328Sigma is also somewhat mind controlled/ manipulated by talon so Mauga is still one of the most unpredictable talon members.
@@adalwolf8328 I think he's TOO in touch with reality, like the very foundation of it.
@@ol4414um Sombra?
Mauga strikes me as someone who has his own personal agenda. He's not a good or bad guy, but he has no qualms doing whatever regardless of morals
Reaper says akande instead of doomfist is insane . Truly an overwatch experience
Two things, I really love Doomfist's exasperated "I could see the explosion from space" line. Also, what exactly is he doing in space? Is he truly as cowardly as Orisa said and now is hiding in space or is he planning something more.
hes in meteor strike
Probably a satellite view, not him actually in space
I believe it's an exaggeration
this has me thinking because mauga mentioned the reason for the mission was to extract all of the data from the power core of the null sector ship for doomfist to build his new "power thingy" but what could that be!

2:40 bro was going to do it to. Doomfist didn’t even need much of convincing argument when reaper was already ready to off his own squad
This animation is so good. I hope Blizzard makes more shorts in this style. I love how Mauga's portrayed here. Very much a force of mass destruction, but he's not completely chaotic about it, he 's calculating and clever about what he obliterates, and cares about the mission as much as Sombra and Reaper. He just prefers to to it his way. I can't wait to play as him.
Very much agreed.
Yeah, same for me Dan, i am hopefull that Blizzard will hire this animation team, and Mauga is truly a real force of mass destruction, plus, he is a vaulable teamemate 😉😎👍✌️🙏🙌
We need more of this.
I do wonder when the idea fully kicked in was it before or after he shot the satellite? My money is before
Agreed, this was brilliantly animated. The characterisation for Talon is great too.
Mauga running away from his team while laughing got me chuckling
I woulda killed to see Overwatch on Saturday morning television growing up, goodness gracious.
They should make a series like RiotGames did with Arcane, but I’m not sure blizzard could pull off a complete story that goes on multiple episodes or even seasons.
Blizzard, all of these shorts are bangers. Just make an animated show already.
I think they would be more successful making an animated show than making the game
@@it1745Absolutely this

fr talon lore is amazing
Talon has the best characters and lore
This is why there should be an animated Netflix series.
This was pretty good! I liked Sombra complimenting Reaper's "dancing" lol
Her messing with him is really funny, and him tolerating it is also funny 😭
Glad Mauga isn't the typical dumb muscle trope. He can assess the situation, find a better and more fun solution, much to the annoyance of his team.
Mauga ain’t a loose cannon; he’s a tactical nuke.
Equally destructive, but deployed when the time is right.
Mauga literally went *WHAT CAN I SAY EXCEPT YOU'RE WELCOME!!!* with his *souvenir*
For a character that we’ve known about for years, it’s really nice that he isn’t a disappointment. Like yeah that sounds rough and gloomy but things have been that way in OW2… at least for me. It’s nice that these shorts never come up short. A character with a big personality comparable to Rein?
And he isn’t a cliche dunce but acts with purpose too? Love it.
Love this! Imagine if Blizz had done an animated series like this, would be awesome.
Untapped potential imo
Saying this for years 😔
Or would suck just as much as the wow movie
How about doing good games instead?
Maybe they will now that Bobby is gone
For lore reasons, I will never stay on the objective
Doom's VA is so goated
They really need to make a animated series of overwatch with this art style that'll be awesome
Been saying this for the past 5 years. Blizzard don't listen.
Dude, same for me MarcosCastro, this need to be an animated series, with that same team who made this miniature episode (by the way, fun fact, this animation, was done by same people who did a Batman Arkham movie) 😉😎✌️👍🙌✨❤️🔥🔥💫

Indeed it even included a (hot latina cyberpunk) GOTH just for accuracy
4:53, I believe Sombra was quite ready to execute Muaga then and there with the way her hand is positioned over her gun.
Sombra's smg was hanged sideways and slightly higher than her hand, so she probably just putting her hand in resting position

I'm more and more convinced that the entire organization of Talon is an elaborate dnd group when put into perspective
I love how they sneaked in a reference to Sombra's translocator rework
This just made me want a Sigma cinematic more. At this point it feels like he's the only other character to not be animated in action (I guess others would be sym, zarya, pharah, and who knows but they aren't my favorite schizophrenic Dutch man 😅).
A couple of the newer characters also don’t have cinematic shorts yet. Ramattra, Lifeweaver and Illari.

Really like how Sombra's translocator is also reworked in the lore
Mauga every time after charging somewhere on his own : "What can I say except "You're welcome !"
Mauga is better as a cartoon. They should have just made an Overwatch cartoon series mostly with him.
I love that Sombra has her old teleport ability 😂
In lore she probably still has it like that but to balance her gameplay she has the instant teleport
This was almost undoubtedly in the works before her rework.
Think about it, is like after this incident, she now realize having one at hand at all times is better and hence the rework
At first I wasn't convinced, but by the end it completely changed my mind... well done, it was great and I hope to get more and more, Overwatch world deserve this type of content
Mauga’s cinematic is so much fun to watch! This is him at his finest
Ah yes, the tank goes off on his own carrying the team, the dps blames him and the support was nowhere to be seen. A masterpiece.
