The interaction between Ramattra and Bastion has rocked me to my very core. It was so compassionate, which I guess was surprising because while Ramattra hates humans with a passion, he is very kind to his robotic brethren.
he doesn't hate humans as we can see that he can speak normally to some without hate in his words, he only has taken matters into his own hands to end omnic slavery with extreme measures
When he said "Return to your rest" on the Bastion kill quote, it made me cry because I knew what it meant. And you could hear the hint of remorse in Ramattra's voice. So sincere
i can just imagine bastion being like "ganymede saved me from my programming by building a nest on me and giving me a friend." and ramatra being supportive rather then rude is a welcome change. genjis interaction is deep. he doesn't even hesitate to say it. also i like how rammatra isn't fully "i hate humans" and actually has some decent interactions, like curiosity on why hanzo likes bow and arrows, or having a "Helpful human would be nice" or actually responding to lucios animal question with a serious answer...ants. honestly so many good interactions. also i love that junkrat acknowledges the satisfaction of hitting those legendary skillshots with his nades

The Bastion point does make sense, considering his "fav animal" voice line with Lucio. My guess he likes animals generally but ants are def his preference. So seeing another omnic or robot with an animal companion might intrigue him and be supportive

i really like the bastion death interactions with omnics. because they are all like "rest now" and i think it is quite sweet that they want him to finally rest
Well, Bastion is technically a old machine of war, one that of course had somewhat risen from its original violent programming in favor of something of pacifism to a degree.
The sadness he displays when killing another omnic is so depressing. Like you can truly tell that he loves all omnics and that killing his owm kind truly does break his "heart"
6:16 "And now, Mondatta's lessons have betrayed _you_ too." This voiceline gives me chills, it sounds like something you'd here in an anime before the main villain's about to kill the main character, after learning that the villain was the hero's best friend.
I really enjoy this take on his personality. He doesn't let his hatred make him two-dimensional, if a human offers him kindness, he responds equaly, if an Omnic is open for conversation, he takes the invitation, him and Zenyatta are giving us that Professor X + Magneto vibe that makes a great character. "I truly had no quarrel with you, I'm sorry" Seeing him justify all of this to himself, it makes me wonder how his character in the PVE story will be, and how he'll evolve. I assume Ramattra will be a big part of the antagonists(/protagonists depending how you look at it), but will he stop himself or will Zen have to take charge and stop him himself?
Indeed, to him it was like killing an omnic infant which she technically is considering her existence is canonically only a few moths old, despite her vast improvements/experience since then.
I really like that he’s oddly friendly, also a weirdly funny character. He’s not a blindly evil guy because his goals of omnic liberation is noble, if flawed in his approach. Plus it’s good of him to look for twigs.
Ramattra is certainly one of the more interesting characters. He's not necessarily abrasive or confrontational, but his grudges still show through the cracks of his outwardly noble and righteous personality. He's imperfect, much like the humans he so abhors, and in that I find some very well-executed irony. By far my favourite hero in terms of interactions, especially when we are reminded of his deceptively prominent kindness.
Jesus Christ these interactions are amazing. I only wish they'd added in more; I can just imagine how pissed Ramattra would be to see B.O.B. at Ashe's beck and call all the time and how Ashe might come to his defence.
@@Hammeh what I like about the widowmaker interaction is his genuine confusion that she didn’t answer. He knows she’s a human, but still asks if it’s true that she’s perfect, and then gets confused when she admits she’s not perfect without saying it. Also, Widow admitting that she’s not perfect without directly being rude is strange 🤔🤔.
That first interaction he has with Zenyata is honestly a little heartbreaking. It's bittersweet, full of both brotherly love and deep sadness, and it shows exactly how emotionally complex Ramattra is as a character.
"Speak not of justice to me, human!" When Ramattra shut down Pharah's ult, that gave me CHILLS, jeez, it was said with such precision and a very punctual hate it could cut a diamond
Given how anti-human Ramattra is, it was a pleasant surprise to hear how much he respects nature rather than just a machine world like you see with other robot villains. Between the Bastion interaction, his detailed admiration for ants, and the chat with Zen about the stars, it was a new side of him I hadn't expected but am happy to see. Fantastic addition to the roster overall, Ram's character doesn't disappoint.
Well, it makes a lot of sense that he would respect nature. Reason One: The industrial revolution harmed nature on large scale. (Note: Without the Industrial, there would be no omics or mass destruction to the environment). Reason two: Religion Ram and zen are both inspired by Buddhism and the teachings that they express about the environment have an emphasis on coexistence. Reason three: empathy, he probably read about human history and how animals and the natural environments were treated by humans and how they were destroyed. This can be seen with Dva.
Ramattra has to have some of the best voice acting and lines in the game. Everything he says helps sell this image of him as someone who only ever wanted peace and acceptance but has been pushed beyond his limits and resorted to hatred and violence because he can’t bare to sit there and take it anymore. Almost all of his lines are dripping with this restrained furry like he can’t stop seeing injustice or tragedy everywhere he goes and no matter what he does there is always something wrong, some form of hatred or injustice he hasn’t been able to stamp out. It makes the glimpses at his softer side hit so much harder to think underneath all his rage is this jovial, understanding and friendly soul.
He's such a solid character. He's not simply just a racist omnic, but he has good sense of humor and see more than just his hatred. A rather complex character, and i love it
Ramon Tikaram is an amazing VA. Between Ramattra from Overwatch and Aatrox from League he has a perfect sympathetic villain voice that just gives you chills
It's cool to see that he's quite polite and accommodating to many of the human heroes. He even initiates conversation with Pharah and seems to have a sense of humor. New favourite hero because of this hidden kindness.
The most terrifying thing about ramattra is how HUMAN he is! Even if he hates humanity but somehow he’s so human himself. A desire for perfection yet understanding of cooperation, not to mention outgoing and resilient in his approach. Seeing him apologetic toward other omnics adds a whole layer to him.
Sigma: Sometimes, the inherent chaos of the universe scares me. Ramattra: But it is in this crucible of chaos in which we are forged. Sigma: Or perish in the attempt. Ramattra: I hear you're trying to recall a lost melody? Sigma: Ah, yes! Might I ask if you happen to know what it is? Ramattra: It is the bitter song of servitude, my friend.
“If I see any twigs, I’ll let you know.” Might be the leader of a terrorist organization, but let the record show that he respects the birds. Really, it is actually kind of nice to see Ramattra be so casual with a good sum of the cast and have nice conversations with them. He could have gone down that route of being another Reaper and get his hate humanity prejudice going strong. Instead, there are some nice moments here and there such as answering questions genuinely.
1:56 i love how junkrat is the one who always mentions game mechanics like this. like with reaper he questions about his infinite reloading shotguns bc even he's confused on how that works
Interesting how they seem to have moved junkrat away from the more omnic hating part of the junker identity, and focused on his more... Whimsical aspects of radiation induced insanity
Wasn't there something in his original lore about him learning a secret at the australian omnium that people want to learn from him? They might have dropped that part too since no one has mentioned it in years.
The fact that Ramattra and echo have a convo where they talk about him being a R-7000 unit which was called"squad killer" by the Humans and he thinks of the name as a "warm little feeling inside"just shows how Human and also cold he is,i love it
I love all of these but that Genji one hit different. He actually seems to have clapped back at Ramattra successfully. All of this is really making me hyped for the upcoming story in PvE.
From the initial materials, he seemed like a menacing omnic with not much else going on, but turns out he's much, much more interesting as a personality.. I really like that.
Out of most overwatch characters, Ramattra has some of the best dialogue because he is pretty multi faceted Edit: Many OW characters are layered, but it feels like Ramattra is shaping up to OW2's more interesting "Release" character. Ill be honest, the dialogue seems to have taken a nosedive since OW1 for some reason, so seeing this was surprise.
I really don't agree that the dialog has taken a nosedive, I feel like since Overwatch 2 came out dialog has either just added a little humor to some interactions or for the most part, stayed very faithful to each characters personality.
I think that makes him one of the better AI "villains". It's not about removing the problem but solving it. If humanity could coexist, he would never have become violent. The problem is the eradication of his people. The most direct solution is the disarmament of that threat.

In Ramattra's eyes, human justice is what enslaves his people and allows them to be victimized by brutal hate crimes. Anyone who tries to enforce a definition of justice that doesn't align with his own, especially if they're a human, will pay the price for perpetuating Omnic suffering.

light sparring match with a brother to more of a sadness, to what felt to me as pure evil?
The Orisa one is my favorite because of how distressed he sounds having done it
The interaction between Ramattra and Bastion has rocked me to my very core. It was so compassionate, which I guess was surprising because while Ramattra hates humans with a passion, he is very kind to his robotic brethren.
He’s kind to most heroes. Typically it’s the other hero who makes a problem.
he doesn't hate humans as we can see that he can speak normally to some without hate in his words, he only has taken matters into his own hands to end omnic slavery with extreme measures
"rocked me to my core" dawg its a little sprinkling of humanism in a video game, its not that deep

Junkrat and skillshots..
Ramatra interaction to killing him is cold as hell too. "Ninjas rather should not seen or heard".
I honestly like the fact that he expresses simple curiosity about Pharah's armor and how it works. At least, assuming he's telling the truth about "just being polite" and that he's not interested in stealing the design. Which, truth be told, he probably *is* telling the truth.
The Bastion point does make sense, considering his "fav animal" voice line with Lucio. My guess he likes animals generally but ants are def his preference. So seeing another omnic or robot with an animal companion might intrigue him and be supportive
@@Blazieth even if he DID want to steal the design, thats still kinda showing that he's impressed with it.

That first interaction he has with Zenyata is honestly a little heartbreaking. It's bittersweet, full of both brotherly love and deep sadness, and it shows exactly how emotionally complex Ramattra is as a character.

I personally love the even split of sincere and angry/determined for justice interactions. It shows that He is a well written character
He hates humans for senselessly killing omnics, so he has no reason to hate other animals.
And it seems even he believes this Anubis is too dangerous to exist.
