The Ryzen 7000 series started out in life by focusing on the high end of the market, with AMD seemingly content for their budget-conscious customers to stick with the ageing AM4 platform instead. The Ryzen 5 7600 and 7600X represent great performance, but at prices that are still slightly off putting. What they needed to kickstart the popularity of the new platform was a cheaper, no-frills performance option; something like the Ryzen 5 7500F, a (slightly) cut-down 7600 for just £150 ($179).

    NOTES:
04:28 For the tuned test, I used Buildzoid’s “low effort” timings for Hynix A & M-die DDR5 from his Patreon page: www.patreon.com/posts/low-effort-rank-77403831. This is purely an adjustment to subtimings - the frequency and basic timings are mostly untouched from the EXPO profile. I also set Infinity Fabric to 2033 based on Buildzoid’s recommendations on his UA-cam channel: www.youtube.com/@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking
I set the CPU’s TDP to 105w to prevent PL throttling during Cinebench, Resolve and Blender. I maxed out the curve optimizer clock speed offset, which is +200 for a max clock speed of 5250, and set the voltage offset to -30. The total system power draw during Cinebench was 185-187w from the wall.
12:39 I might have been a bit ambiguous in my conclusion, focusing on negatives over positives. In fact, the 7500F is an excellent buy and well worth the money. I don’t mean to knock AliExpress, I personally don’t recall ever having had a bad experience with them, but this would be an easier recommendation if only AMD would release the 7500F to retail in the West as well.
14:02 More recent Intel iGPUs and their Quick Sync function allows for hardware decoding of video formats that even some discrete GPUs don’t handle (ref: www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/what-h-264-and-h-265-hardware-decoding-is-supported-in-davinci-resolve-studio-2122/)
While the new AMD iGPUs are (supposedly) able to decode video in apps like Resolve and Premiere, they probably won’t have the full range of codec support that Quick Sync has. As you can see from the Puget chart, AMD’s DGPUs don’t support many codecs, so there’s no reason to expect any more of their iGPUs.
If you’re interested in learning more about Intel Quick Sync for video editors and other creative types, check out Tech Notice’s channel: www.youtube.com/@theTechNotice

Ryzen 5 7500F may as well be the CPU for first-time budget PC build with DDR5 RAM support. Lets just say you spend a little bit more on an AM5 motherboard, the CPU without iGPU & DDR5 RAM sticks. Then, you decide to restrict your budget by buying last gen graphics card (RTX 2060 or RX 6600 XT) as a stopgap before going for an upgrade path once you have a lot of money to spend on high-end graphics cards.

In an LTT AMD tech upgrade video Linus said they could use the motherboard HDMI port because the integrated GPU is RDNA 2 and could thereby use the dedicated AMD GPU through that without any issues (not sure if the dedicated GPU was RDNA 2 or 3 but either one should work matter as far as I am aware). The dedicated GPU only had one HDMI port and they needed 2. I haven’t seen anyone putting out any performance numbers for this claim so I only know about it because of that video, lol.
That specific use case other than not needing the power of a dedicated GPU is why I could see the value of the Ryzen 7600 over 7500F, lol.

I have some genuine concerns about AMD's release strategy for Ryzen 8000. It seems like they might release it in mid/late 2024 and then follow up with Ryzen 8000 3D vcache in early 2025, all while announcing the AM6 socket stating the end of AMD's AM5 2025+ support.
The release timeline reminds me of Intel's approach, where they only provided us with 2 generations instead of the 4 generations we saw with AM4. Personally, I don't really consider 3D vcache to be a whole new generation. I joined the AM4 platform late, so I decided to invest in AM5 early by purchasing an expensive x670e motherboard to ensure better long term CPU support (remembered early AM4 motherboards had some issues towards the end).
However, it feels like I may have wasted my money because I was hoping to be able to upgrade at a low cost in 5 years. I could be wrong, I would love to be wrong but AM5 released in 2022?? 2024 now and still only on the original launch generation, with the promise of 2025+ support, maybe we get more, I would only benefit from it but it does seem like AM5 will not have the generational longevity of AM4.
