    Vulkan is probably already back somewhere, but he's acting as a doctors-without-borders, digging ditches, helping deliver food and aid to the needy, or something else fully humanitarian. He was physically the largest and most imposing of them all, but also the most gentle.

    Honestly if Vulkan returned I think there would be a large clash between him and his salamanders against the adeptus mechanicus. Vulkan would probably start introducing innovation, the salamanders would be the first to pick the concept up and start making new variants of bolters and other war gear that is higher quality then the mechanicus can produce. The mechanicus viewing inventing new things as heresy and with their monopoly/political power being threatened, they would accuse Vulkan and his sons as tech heretics.

    • @Emrald7
      @Emrald7 2 роки тому +7

      I thought I read somewhere that the mechanicum had a good relationship with the salamanders, due to the trade in ideas and the resources of Nocturne. However, since most of my knowledge comes from videos and wikis, maybe I don’t know something.

    • @hotrod506
      @hotrod506 2 роки тому +7

      @@Emrald7 I know the Iron hands and their successors chapters are really close to the mechanicus, so I wouldn’t be surprised if another chapter that really focused on building their own war gear like the salamanders, would also be really close to the mechanicus.

    • @killak3219
      @killak3219 2 роки тому +10

      That’s definitely a possibility but maybe the Adeptus Mechanicus would consider him and his designs as holy? Like his old war gear is already sacred because he was a master craftsman so his future designs would probably be in the same category. Also, Belisarius Cawl has gotten the green light to do his thing so Vulkan even more so.
      Having said all that, I do agree with you that the political friction will be there regardless.

    • @BM-wf9uf
      @BM-wf9uf 2 роки тому +9

      I doubt Guilliman would stand by and allow the Adeptus Mechanicus to go to outright war with Vulkan and his sons. Also, my understanding is that Guilliman and Vulkan were at least cordial with each other.

    I think there could be 2 main conflicts with vulkan returns. 1 is just his mental state. He may not remember anything or have gone slightly mad or changed from his long deaths and whatever he’s been up to over the last 10k. And 2, his disgust with the current state of the imperium might be extreme. Remember, he was the humanitarian primarch, and the imperium today runs on human death. Also he was a crafter vs the current imperiums imposed ignorance.
    With all this in mind, I think it’s possible vulkan is filled with firey dragon rage and wishes to remove the high lords forever or fight the inquisition or some other drastic measure.

      Also, he wouldn't know what was happening, at any moment, at any time, and he would die a thousand times all while doing literally the best thing for the occasion.
      Vulkan's luck is so bad, that he would wake up in terra and the throne would spontaneously combust for reasons beyond anyone's control.
      And then he'd wake up burning in ultramar, and then it would spontaneously rip another warp rift.
      And somehow the imperium would prevail because of it.

Seeing the Inquisition and the Grey Knights murder millions over potential chaos corruption would cause Vulkan to be enrage. He almost got rid of the High Lords of Terra, so it wouldn't be too much to stretch to see him try to get rid of the Inquisition too for the sake of the people.

    I have a few thoughts on what would happen if Vulkan returned. If he had recovered from his madness, I think his primary goal would be to find some way to get the Emperor off the Golden Throne and find another way to seal the Webway gate. Now, why do I say this? I believe Vulkan would likely return to Terra after reuniting with Guilliman now that he is the regent of the Imperium after hearing about his brother's interaction with the Emperor and his fractured mind. Who else could empathize better than Vulkan, who was mental broken for years? I believe Vulkan would see and hear the Emperor, pitying what he has become, despite his apparent and rising ascension. Vulkan likely still cherishes those intimate moments with his father and desire to end his father's suffering. Vulkan is the most gifted craftsman the Imperium has ever seen. If he can create the dead man's hand that is the Talisman of Seven Hammers, then he could find a way to forever seal away the Webway portal beneath the Imperial Palace.
    I also think this would provide a potential moment for Vulkan to make amends with the Eldar, if only in a small way. The guilt of killing the unarmed Eldar in his fit of rage has eaten at him and by working with the Eldar, perhaps atone for his misdeed. This would likely be temporary and he would still likely despise Drukhari with all his being, but if working with his enemy could help him fight a common foe AND save his father, then I think he would walk that path.

    Now that said Vulkan I would want to actually be found defending a world, even from other marines. Tales get up to Gilly that a huge black dragon keeps defeating the marines but allowing them to leave. Gilly checks it out and finds Vulkan, after a short fight Gilly jogs the memory of Vulkan and the fight ends with a big Vulkan hug, and maybe an actual tear (idc how godly Robute is, the comfort and relief of having his brother back, and the reassurance a physical embrace would melt the stress and it would have to go somewhere) from the reunion.
    Gilly could tell Vulkan that he and the others may have been right, that splitting up the legions may have been a bad idea, could tell him of his fights with Magnus and Morty. And for the whole "unremembered empire" Vulkan would understand. Gilly is logical. And the set up to keep everything running in the event of Big E death, makes sense. The fact that Gilly and Lion both agreed to Sanguinious being the ruler, all in Gilly modus operandi. What he may be less ok with is Gilly using religion as his tool. To lie to everyone in such a way, it wouldn't sit right with the Just Vulkan.

The Vulkan with the knowledge of the wonders of the Dark Age of Technology such as the doomsday device he crafted to implant upon the golden throne to destroy Terra should it fail. Quite frankly of all the primarch's he's possibly the most dangerous due to the knowledge he posses. He was too kind to utilize said knowledge before. However after ten thousand years will the restraints he placed on himself still be there. Or will he unleash weapons of cosmic might without restraint.

Out of everything I see Vulkan working in a black smith shop on some world, just refusing to return, no fighting, no hatred, he just wants to live a nice peaceful life, maybe adopted a family over time.
      With Guilliman being only person to understand Vulkan's wish, just leaving him on the world, while galaxy moves on without him has, he suffers from PTSD. Only thing that bring him out of retirement is if Nocturne was attacked by the full might of the Drukhari, because nothing would make Vulkan madder then hear his home about to become a slave planet.

    You say Vulcan is perhaps Robute's best ally amongst the Primarchs, I disagree.
    I keep coming back to the beginning of Corax's Primarch book (you remember Corax, right? He always seems to be over looked in these things). In it we have the pair of them talking and it's Corax that gives Robute the idea for a Codex Imperialis, the governing document he eventually writes after his return.
    Robute and Corax also have an enemy in common, both would like nothing more than to stick Lorgar's head on pike and I feel Route would be happy to focus on Snakey boy Fulgrim knowing that Lorgar would have to deal with their morose sibling.
    The only real speed bump I can see is that (Spoiler) Corax has more or less cast aside his mortal body in favour of his Warp form. Perhaps that might be a deal breaker, or Corax would be able to resume a more Primarch shape?
    Either way I think Corax would be a perfect choice. He's just independent enough to question and help Robute while being loyal and dedicated enough to not rock the boat too much.

    Great video, but you did miss out one critical point: the Salamanders are one of the smallest and most diminished of the old Loyalist Legions, the Primaris Marines have been an immeasurable boon to the lineage of Vulkan (given that the primaris founding was equal between all gene line, this means tens of thousands of new Salamanders). I think his first order of business would be to organise and mentor all those of his blood. Which would be predominantly Primaris, while hypno-indoctrinated in mechanistic combat, lack instruction in the Promethean cult. Additionally he would reorganise their combat doctrine and manufacturing to support and prosecute the Indomitus Crusade, and whatever Cawl may have devised you know Vulkan would vastly exceed in remaking (can you imagine him tinkering with the Primaris Aggressor armour? Cawl may be the "Prime Conduit of the Omnissiah", but Vulkan is Vulkan, what takes Cawl millennia to devise, he probably makes as a hobby on his weekends). His deepest worry would be those of his line lacking the temperament necessary to be a true son of the Lord of Drakes, he would not jump into Indomitus, but like the fine craftsman he is, take time in rebuilding all the chapters of his lineage into a fire of hope for the righteous, and an unstoppable cleansing flame to the damned. I shall cry many tears when there are thousands upon thousands of sons of the Lord of Drakes crying out "VULKAN LIVES!" as their Primarch leads them Into the Fires of Battle, and Unto the Anvil of War.

    I wonder if Rho is gonna cover the wildcards of Clone Fulgrim and Curze, both are very big wild cards for obvious reasons, for Curze, it'd involve getting himself a body so that his soul can get out of that soul stone, and then...what? He was a traitor, but not a Chaos God traitor, and in his madness, he very much did seek his father's approval (see the incident when he created this...golem...of his father and had a vision which may or may not have been real, though I subscribe to the idea that it was).
    As for Clone Fulgrim, he clearly represents the good side of Fulgrim in a kind of Magnus shattered soul way, and he'd undoubtedly lead a Emperor's Children civil war (he's shown to have the ability to convert even his chaos infected sons back to "the light") against his serpentine self, but how would Guilliman react to this? Would he sit back and watch (to maybe try and eliminate whoever's left), would he intervene, and if so would he intervene to kill them both or to help out his clone brother? Also there's the question of, let's say the most optimistic thing happens, let's say Guilliman recognizes that CFulgrim is his brother and he manages to get over the myriad of issues he has with him and embrace him, how would the rest of the Imperium react? Even if Guilliman wanted to welcome this returned Fulgrim, I doubt the Imperium would let him. It'd take nothing short of a proclamation by the Emperor himself to prevent them from either disregarding Guilliman's opinion or declaring him a traitor as well 😅

    Pointless. No offence to everyone’s favorite chocolate teddybear but his return would not bring much to the plot/setting.
    His legion Isn’t large rnought to have any actual impact in the Long War, and he does not posses any tactical, military or organization skills that would turn the course of the war in any impactful way.
    The only thing that would make Vulcan’s return somehow impactful would be of he would create some really powerful weapon, or leaned how to create the necrontyr blackstone and manufacture it on massive scale.
    We already have far too many flame throwers in the setting, sisters of battle alone are using it waaaay too much.
