- Hey everyone Rho here! Today we're discussing the return of Vulkan Primarch of the Salamanders to the Imperium. His reunion with the Imperial Fists and Sons of Rogal Dorn during the Beast Arises saga.
Spoiler Warning to begin as the events we're discussing today are from the Warhammer 40,000 story "The Hunt for Vulkan" by author David Annandale. As always I really recommend you read the stories for yourself first without spoilers! As that's the best way to enjoy the lore for yourself!

I look forward to Vlukan's return and the beginning of the Great Enhuggening of Mankind.
I like to imagine that vulkan has spent his time hiding crafting wrapons unlike anything the imperium has seen. Arcane psykic weapons, automata, star ships, maybe even demon killing weapons like the Emperor's sword. All advanced enough to match dark age era tech
We can only hope.
That's my headcannon, rebuilding the DAOT in the background, minus the abominable intelligence

Michael Dorn would play Vulcan perfectly in a live action appearance, large or small screen. His voice would ring with the same resonance as I imagine Vulcan's has

I can see Vulkan living on a backwater planet, living out Roboute's dream. But I can also see that being shattered, for there is no rest for the Primarchs. I would like to see a Vulkan who doesn't hold back either. Beware the wrath of a peaceful man, when pushed. "Into the Fires of Battle, Unto the Anvil of War"
Nice Vulkan is cool and all but I'd rather see jaded Vulkan that's pissed at everyone and everything because of how shite it is.

The Inquisition had a quandary. yes, they knew where Vulkan was. Yet, the usual methods for persuading him to dance to the Inquisition's tune is not going to work. Threaten a population, er, Nope. That wont fly with Vulkan. Threaten him. He is a Primarch. Attack him. He is a perpetual. In 40K, no, I cant see the inquisition telling Bobby G about any Primarch's location they know about. That's a chip in the big game. It would also open lines of questions from Bobby, that the Inquisition really don't want to asked.
Except the big G will now find out the Inquisition knew and didn't say earlier.
@@TheOtherSteel If the Inquisition come forward with the info. The next question is why it was not acted on. If Bobbie finds out himself somehow. Then it’s something lost in the paperwork of the ages etc. we did not know we had the info. Deniability in this would be needed. Something, just a sliver of doubt.
In a galaxy full of oopsies I think it's fair to say his location got lost a few thousand years ago
Id love to see vulkan return again. Not only because its a curve ball. But because his chapter is suffering and in need of back and morale. They are also well known for their humanitarian stance. I would love to see just what Vulkan thinks of the current emperium

Vulken deserves more spotlight. He's the only primarch who sees Humans as people
I imagine Guilliman does to an extent aswell.
@@Joromonni I find Guilliman as exceeding at the organization planning and work that is so often overlooked that determines success pulls to him. In as much as he seeks to achieve success through such operations. Vulken has been gone for so long that his style seems to be more to be a first person shooter where he is an action star but not a force multiplier which guilliman story is told as. Could just be how they wrote him since he often is set against others to show their lack of humanity.
Almost every loyalist primarch sees humans as people.
Right, it's just unfortunate that's not a selling point for GW
@@dimatut007 they see them as people but for some its more of a humanity as a whole and not the individual itself. Just as well Lion being back going to be fun. I think they need to let other chaos primarchs loose but it seems gw is focused on angron atm they tend not to use Chaos primarchs for continuity since its different when its some chapter of space marines lot less continuity to worry about when you bring the big names out.

I think we can safely count out Ferrus Manus and Sanguinius from returning. Conrad aswell. I believe the next primarchs to return are Perturabo and Russ.
Can most likely add Dorn to that list unless the severed hand and story of his death was a red herring
Snake boy has been leaked to be the next Traitor. It's either Russ or the Khan for the Loyalists.
Hopefully not Russ, Spacewolves lore & storytelling kinda sucks.
If the emperor becomes a sentient warp god he could bring the fragments of Sanguinius soul back together and help him resurrect, or maybe some fancy thingamajig necron technology in use.

The return of Vulkan would symbolize the return of hope and or humanity to the imperium. (Volkan is my favorite) but his return now would be to early. i feel the some one like volkan and what he represents would need to come later and during the grimest of grim times for the imperium. either way when he returns am going party hard! VULKAN LIVES!
It really sucks Michael Clark Duncan has passed on. He would have been a perfect Vulkan. Oh well i guess we can settle for Terry Crews.
I've seen Michael Dorn suggested. I feel that would be a great choice.
I think it would be funny if Vulkan is some where on Amgeridan in an ad mech test site
1 - Vulkan can probably defeat any ork, but he cannot defeat every ork on a planet unless he comes up with the ability to be everywhere on the planet at once. I don't see GW portraying him as generating a few hundred billion copies of himself at a time. Therefore, insisting he must stay to protect the planet is silly. He can't protect the planet by himself, only a few hundred meters of radius at a time. Also, once a planet has been infected by Orks, they can keep coming back through regrowth from spoeres, which would be his way of saying he's never coming back (even though he can't personally save the anet). Heck, once Hily Terra is infected by the Ork, it's never really going to be free of them.
2 - Guilliman will find out about the mission to recall Vulkan and he'll be asking the Inquisition why the didn't tell him and for everything they do know about other Primarchs, the Emperor, and other subjects as well.
3 - I'd like to know which book covers orks getting to Holy Terra. If any place in the Imperium still has several hundred battleships, plus archaeotech defenses left and right, it's Holy Terra.
4 - The awakened Emperor is at nealy point blank range using the Golden Throne (he helped Guilliman from a quarter of the galaxy away). He should simply manifest an appearance and start issuing orders. Or directly explode all ork spaceboourne assets by his psychic might.

odd thought, but do you think the instruments laid in front of the old king in "Lion: Son of the Forest" could be somehow referring to Vulkan? One of the artefacts is the chalice of fire, the candelabra could be pointing to the fire not the item in itself, though i may be missing something, the bowl with ancient heros on the side throws me off but depending on the number of heros on it could that be looking at the three working together, covering their weaknesses and dealing with the major threats? vulkan and the nids, the Lion and chaos and Roboute and the necros/Rift?
Thatd also give Roboute a merciless warrior on one side and a compassionate protector on the other to help keep him balanced.

The Inquisition no doubt were happy to leave Vulcan alone. They likely knew that he was immortal and so decided that if he wanted to be left alone then that suited them to have him effectively sidelined where they could keep tabs on him.

It would be interesting if the inquisition had tried to get him to solve their problems before. Maybe he did help, maybe he didn’t, maybe it left a sour taste in there mouth that causes conflict with Guillemen
It's entirely possible that with the factionalism of the Inquisition, poor record keeping and infighting the current Inquisition has forgotten, lost, purged or redacted Vulcans location entirely by the 41st millennium.
Vulcan probably has a space tracker inserted into his armour.
That's how the inquisition knew.

I feel like Vulcan gets nerfed when 40k decides its time to try and to out grim dark an emo teen from the 90s. Llwhen they do it right you get great primarchs stories like Vulcan and perty, the sad demon mech.
The war of the beast is the worst thought out event in 40k
I could think of way worse. Like that moment Sisters of Battles were killed by Grey Knights so that they'd oint themselves in their blood to face khornate forces. Or the entirity of the Damnos campaign. Or the Ynnarii books so far. Sure, The Beast Arises wasn't great, just barely more than good, but there has been worse. ;/

Yeah it sounds very good to say you care more for the people than the institution, but protecting a random world when you could help save the whole species is shortsighted and kinda stupid. Cool as he is i hope we get some explaination for this, or at least acknowledgement that he made a mistake

Vulkan has always been my favorite Primarch, however, he is also the most "woke" of the 18 as well. I'm suspicious of what 40k has planned for our big guy.

When are you going to produce a post about which Pirmarch are the least interesting to read about... In no particular order those Primarchs are: Vulkan, Jagatai, The Lion, and Ferus... Why are they boring... They do nothing but show up and people are supposed to be impressed... they are predictable, they are disconnected from anything that is likeable.
