That space is because they wanted a 3 finger grip. The smaller version of this knife is the sprint. I can’t hold that one on my hands. Even with 3 fingers.
I use it to cut shrink wrap off pallets and to cut tape off silk screen frames. I carry this guy a ultratech and a tr-3 everyday. Each size is perfect for each task I do at work. But I loose one whole pocket.
Seems like a well made little knife. I agree the back of the blade closed is weird. Great video 👍
My only auto living in CA. I enjoy it but understand why many wouldn’t.
I live in CA as well. I own and carry full size autos all the time. Never had any issues

As long as you're not drawing attention to yourself or acting like a bafoon, nobody will bother you and law enforcement won't know the difference.

I was kinda thinking the same sentiments... I'm a huge protech fan but I dont think this is the one. I'll stick with my SBR for small knife.
SBR is the perfect one. Too bad I live in California.
The trick is to make a Cali-legal knife that can be held comfortably by a person with normal or slightly large hands. Any expensive little knife, auto or not is not going to be for everyone. I like Protech’s but they do not always put the best edges on their knives. I think Kershaw Launches consistently have much better edges.

Love pro tech, I’ve wanted a runt 5 ever since they came out, love the runt series for their size, snappiness, and quality.
Wanting to ask, your personal opinion-between the Runt 5, or, the similarly designed, close in price, ProTech Sprint 2905.
Please let me know your opinion on this selection, and why.

I haven’t handled a Sprint. The Newport is amazing though. So id imagine it would be nice. For overall thinness, design and for edc use id go with the Sprint personally. The Runt is cool but its so damn chunky for a tiny knife

Pro-tech does not know how to sharpen a knife. Their knives are completely dull.
They’ve gotten much better the last year.

@@dr.stevenpennym.d.3241 where did u buy it? Was it new stock? Ive had 2-3 made in the last year and they went from thick and dull to pretty thin and sharp in my experience

OMG, it's one of the best small knives in the world. Tolerance is unbelievable. Plus the blade is a super super steel. Hard use knife. Not like that crap that comes out of CRK.

@@guysgear5996 Chris Reeve Knives. In my opinion its a basic knife with no special features. I've been to the shop and I was shocked to see such an poorly organized way of making a knife. I can't believe someone would spend that kind of money for simple quality.
