Ok, I finally saw this movie, To anyone who doubted Penn Badgley he was pretty fantastic in the role, I'm not kidding. Honestly, I went into the movie thinking ''he's gonna murder everything I love about JB'' but, gave a genuinely stellar performance, I was blown away. I hope he gets a least a Golden Globe nomination or something. It was very good acting and a great voice too!
Penn dis a wonderful job. Maybe you guys dont know jeff. This was a pivotal moment in jeff life. He never wanted to sing, due to his father. He only wanted to be known as a guitar player. He wanted to be a jimmy page. This concert he did turned his life around. Without this concert jeff never would have affected all of us. Jeff was the biggest thing in my life. I am not one to like these types of movies they usually screw it up. But this was quite good. Not 10 out of 10 of at least someone knows how important jeff buckley was.
Jeff's music and history deserves to be told in a movie where he is the main plot, he was too great to be related, even with his dad.
Tim Buckley was a phenomenal artist...
@@OMGitsSeppie but he wasn't as great as a father. That's why Jeff is his own worth without his dad's successes
ummm his dad's music was very influential
@@user-ew9ur7td1y not really
@@Enzo-si1it yep, it was
Badgley did a brilliant job and has a stellar voice. I'm the most die hard Buckley fan I know so my words are worth their weight.. To me.
this makes me sad, Jeff Buckley is so much more than a movie.
that doesn't mean a movie shouldn't be made about him. who isn't 'so much more than a movie'?
+grace tehidofjd agreed, and tim buckley was so much more than his son.
are you saying tim buckley was better than his son?
+James Naidoo Subjectively speaking, yes. YMMV
then Michelangelo was better than Leonardo, the beatles were better than rolling stones etc etc... is not like a competition. Is art, is emotion and lot of other stuff. Obviously if you like one more than the other is just your opinion man but saying someone is better than someone else is just childish in my opinion. Specially when it comes down to artistic masterpieces and artists.

I have to say I think the record store scene was amazing. Later on the train, the girl tells him the story about seeing this performer who says about it, that 'every moment of every day is this, the performance is no different" and that jeff has that. The record store scene is just a total testiment to the way jeff could just naturally perform without it being a performance. That & the story about the boy with windsheild wiper eyes were the best scenes for me.
Badgley is the son of a musician, dejavu anyone?
nope
gossip girl , Dan Humphrey's father was a musician.
Glen Coco yeah, except that in this movie Badgley is a musician himself. Not at all a deja-vù for me XD
that's true. I still got the dejavu though :)
Judging by the trailer this movie seems ridiculous and Jeff Buckley surely would laugh at it. It's like none of them really payed attention to the soul he really was.
Give it a try I've watched it twice. The first time I didn't know that much about Jeff and how he felt about his dad. After some time i watched it again just recently and I could say Penn Badgley did his best as he could but not to actually be Jeff you know.
It really wasn't that bad. The movie showed the more venerable side of Jeff with his dad. They could have done some things better, but there were also some really good scenes. I thought the same thing as you before but the movie is much better than the trailer.
This trailer is horrible. i absolutely love jeff buckley and have been waiting for this movie for such a long time but wtf. This just doesn't do justice to jeff buckley.
I agree, the trailer is shit but the movie is really great
What does it even matter a movie doesn’t have to be 100% accurate to the story

This movie is just so great. I watched in one night a week ago, and I've been inspired ever since.
i will listen to you
+Jonida Sanço i will listen to you
+Jonida Sanço i will listen to you
Imogen and Penn have one of the best chemistry's I have seen on film! Love this movie. Penn was cast flawlessly. He really looks like Jeff, especially some angles. Imogen looks great with brown hair and her personality shines in this movie! I didn't know about her this was the first movie I saw her in. Didn't even realize she has a British accent.
**Claims to be a splitting image of his father**
**Actors actually look nothing alike**
They really couldn't just make a movie about Jeff himself without putting the whole emphasis on his father. No disrespect to his father, but Jeff's music created a beauty that no movie could ever truly portray, especially when that makes it about daddy issues. RIP Jeff. You deserved better.
Tim's talent has been overlooked in recent years because of his son.
You make no sense at all. Then they would make a movie about Tim instead of having Jeff in it, but no one would care.
This WAS a movie about Tim. He was acclaimed before anyone knew who Jeff was.
Just stop while you’re ahead. Your stupidity is too much for anyone to visibly see. If Tim was soooo awesome then they should’ve just done it about HIM ONLY and not include his son. Get a grip on common sense and reality.
The legacy of Tim had a direct effect on his son's formation not only as a performer but as an artist. Nobody's talking about him being "sooooo awesome" (god, you're a moron), what we're saying is that he was a huge influence on a generation of musicians before his son was ever famous.
i saw this movie a few weeks ago now.. and i thought it was brillant! its a simple film with a haunting feel to it, but penn's voice is really incredible!
im here because these two is blessed in making good music.. i love you Tim and Jeff
No you're Lonely Boy
Ugh. I haven't seen the movie but I'm already disappointed. I know he put in a lot of effort with the singing voice but he didn't even try to affect his speaking voice or any of his mannerisms. I was such a huge fan girl when I was in high school and I've watched so many interviews that it just seemed glaringly obvious to me that this was Penn Badgley pretending to be Jeff Buckley rather than being taken away believing he WAS Jeff.
Hayley Moore Sigh, you are totally right. Reeve Carney was the other choice for this role. Not only does he look EXACTLY the same as Buckley but he also has killer vocals that are similar.
MARK RENDALL should have played Jeff.
That’s so strange to find someone who was a fan when he was alive. I’ve only known him as someone who passed away leaving great music
very true. the actor could have put a lot more effort in portraying the way jeff speaks and his body language and stuff like that.
i really love the concert part..i just wish the performances are much longer..the music is incredible..im satisfied..
I feel the same way. I think the record store scene was important. He doesn't care if there's anyone starring at him, he's just doing it because that's who he is. The windshield wiper story was so great. It meant nothing, and it was completely random but it really stuck with me after the film was over. It oddly made me feel a little emotional. I think those scenes were the highlights fo the film. I did enjoy the whole concert sequence as well though
I say they didn't understand him because the film's portrayal of him is a huge trivialization of him. I never met him but I've listened to all of his music and alot of his interviews and have his books. Jeff doesn't lie. So everything you see him doing anything he's 100% real. So I think it's very easy to get to know Jeff without actual meeting him. An incredible scene was the subway scene. Everything about it was great. I just had high expectations for this movie cuz JB is my fav artist
I actually was lucky enough to see this at Tribeca and it was really great. very well done obviously fantastic music. really loved it I cried at the end not gonna lie....and i dont cry during movies
This film is about Tim's music and Jeff finding his voice. There are original Tim Buckley tracks, in addition to Jann Klose and Penn singing Tim Buckley songs.
Complete character assassination of Jeff Buckley
And Tim
Why?
It really wasn't that bad. The movie showed the more venerable side of Jeff with his dad. They could have done some things better, but there were also some really good scenes. I thought the same thing as you before, but the movie is much better than the trailer makes it look.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like the trailer too!
Congrats to everyone involved! Excited to be a part of this film.
Penn Flawless Dayton Badgley,,, He deserves to be full acclaimed for this performance... AND his voice >>>>> HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!!!
Dan Humphrey you knew your father don't lie.
Greetings.
happy u liked it!!!
I like the mystery about Jeff Buckley. I don't need to know what he did and when... Just that he made beautiful music.
I just finished watching the film. The music was handled very well. I think many people will be pleasantly surprised. My advice is to give it a shot.
i personally think Badgely has Jeff's mannerisms down to a T. Like, scaringly perfect.
OMG Penn
Today I was just thinking JAmes Franco should be playing Jeff, looks like him and a better actor.
I know James Franco’s the image of him!
@@carmie9400 Right, but James Franco is too problematic. Tim's mom is helping produce another biopic with Reeve Carney, a famous 20-something Broadway actor, and Reeve is literally a spitting image of Tim
This movie is my favourite ever although i've seen different kind of movies that I can't even remember .. Maybe this, one cuz I have a huge crush on music ( talking here about Tim Buckley )
Movie is prescribed for anyone that has even though a little interest in music ( real music )
ilyas bechari right on. I also came because of Tim Buckley
this movie was extremely well done. i cant believe how down pat Penn had Jeffs mannerisms and VOICE (in tone and everything). i was shocked. i went into the film thinking it was going to be a train wreck, but wanted to see it anyways because Jeff was being represented some way in the media. this movie totally proved me wrong. if not for anything else, Penn DOES do Jeff justice, wow.
im glad the life of Jeff Buckley is being acknowledged
Just watched this film today I loved it
Can't wait to see this he's so CUTE!!
My god. They picked an actor because his hair is similar.
They needed James Franco to play Jeff.
have you heard him sing...
This movie look too hipster for me to handle.
lol!!!
the trailer makes it look worse
It really wasn't that bad. The movie showed the more venerable side of Jeff with his dad. They could have done some things better, but there were also some really good scenes. I thought the same thing as you before but the movie is much better than the trailer.
Haahahhhahhahahahajja
been waiting so long for this!
Damn, I didn't think this was coming out so soon. Cool. Now I just need that Marvin Gaye biopic and I'll be happy.
I like this direction.
Looks like typical "season" movie without a soul, that you forget on next day.
dan humphrey :D
I watched an interview where he talked about how he purposely didn't alter his speaking voice too much. His voice is like an octative lower but he decided that people would hate if he mimicked him that way. So he spoke softer but not as high as Jeff. He said people would think he was an ass if he went that far.
Humphrey!
that's weird cause i was just watching 6 years and thought ben rosenfield looks so much a like dan and then bam turns out they have a movie where they're supposed father and son
Jeff deserves this. hopefully is a good movie.
I do think that out of all Penn's Gossip Girl counterparts, he has the potential to really go the distance with his acting career. There's always one breakout star from every TV show and I think he is the one to look out for
i'm so excited
If you watch the documentary 'Amazing Grace'
They really try to percieve that drowning as a suicide.
I'm not even kidding.
I dont care what anyone says I loved this move!!
The story is really good, but I hated what Penn Badgley did to Jeff.
I need to see this movie he looks like a Vampire.
I didn't get it, really. Was it a Jeff Buckley movie? Or a Tim Buckley one? Why did they make Penn sing a single Jeff song in the whole movie?
I didn't like it, but it was not a bad movie. I just didn't find in it the things that made me fall in love with Jeff and his music.
Ilaria Totes agree
Are you kidding me? This movie is one of my favourites. It is just amazing and the music is from the heart.
@@underated17 no I'm not kidding you. I don't actually care about you
@@yellina86 You don't care about me? I am talking about the movie, strictly. It is one of my favourite movies. I don't know you and never asked about you. I don't care about you.
@@slimturnpike It's a movie that mirrors them both back to back.
I was literally thinking they should make a movie about Jeff Buckley. I'll give Penn Badgley a chance, he could be good. They don't always need to be the doppleganger of whoever they're playing anyways...
Frank Wood portraying my buddy Gary Lucas at :59 - I just loved working on this movie...
i don't want to know about jeff, tim buckley's son. i want to know about jeff buckley, the legend of his own
I love Jeff, son of Tim Buckley and I love his father too. Jeff reminds me of Tim and Tim reminds me of Jeff. They two belong together. Both Buckley are legends.
I saw this movie and in all honesty he gave a terrific performance. It's too bad the movie will probably only stay in limited release because he made the movie! I think he'll be getting more work after it too. Bright future.
Hey! its the "other tucker" :p
really wanna see this movie now :)
I respect that. I just think other people might have other ideas about who he was, The people that started writing this are also huge Jeff Buckley and Tim Buckley fans and they probably think they know him well also.
Jeff Buckley is sacred, I honestly don't think anyone could do him justice. I kind of feel for the people who made this movie, they tried.... but you can't represent someone so unique without it coming off as corny or false.
James Franco can sing actually, he has sang in a couple of movies and possesses a very nice tenor voice
april 16 on itunes and may 3 in selected theaters
looks good but I just can't be bothered
+Georgie Murray Same xD
It's rubbish bae.
any full version on streaming?
amen brother
also Penn covers 'Lilac Wine' as a homage to Jeff near the end.
I don't think they were saying that 'Grace' was really made then. There were no lyrics, they didn't write it down. They were just jamming and alluding to the fact that later down the road Jeff and Gary will create 'Grace'. It was a homage that I enjoyed.
Aaahhhh I don't know much about Tim Buckley But I will definitely do my research and then go watch the movie :-) I am definitely watching this movie even though I don't know much it still looks good. :-) Penn Badgley is fantastic
Does anybody have any news about the new bioptic Mystery White Boy with Reeve Carney???? There hadn't been any updates about it since like 2011! And the movie isn't even out! Please help.
this is getting positive reviews, i'm excited!
whats the song that starts playing at 1;10??? please someone tell me its awesome
I loved it!
Agree 100%
anyone has know about where is that movie download?
idk, it's hard to tell from a two minute trailer, but he just looks like any other actor playing a role. I feel like if they're going to portray a musician like Jeff, they really need to embody him, if that makes sense (kinda like Joaquin Phoenix in Walk the Line), and they REALLY need to sell it when he sings (which can't be easy at all). I don't see this with him. But like I said, hard to judge just from the trailer.
this looks good.
eu gostei de greetings from tim buckley
What is the name of the song at the end?
Reeve Carney should've done Jeffs role.
Hi, does anybody knows on what site can I watch this movie?
piratebay
I love penn🥴
Thats good to here!
WOAH cant wait! I liked the parts with baby Jeff!
Someone please do tell me the song name which starts at 1:32 !!!
Did you find the song?
nope :
Brilliant film- enjoyed it!
WHAT IS THE SONG AT THE END???? PLEEASE!!!
Lobster Todd plays Jeff Buckley... O.O ????
I wish Jeff Buckley was alive.
This movie takes place during -91, Jeff sadly dies 6 years later.
I feel like the trailer is way easier to follow and more concise than the movie
Looks really good :)
I am findin the song that starts at 1:08 could somebody help me ? :(
Hooo IMOGEN POOTS! Love her! :)
oh wow
Looks cool.
James Franco has been announced to be portraying Buckley in "Mystery White Boy" which is being made now
