Yes, but there have been many opposed twin engines over the years, it's a perfect engine layout because of the perfect engine balance - no primary or secondary vibrations, everything balances out. Don't forget Flat Fours and Flat Sixes either - VW, Porsche, Subaru, Citroen, Honda Gold Wing - lots more. Also Aircraft engines - Lycoming was famous for their flat twins, and Continental for their Flat Fours and Flat Sixes.
