@@zeppodog2009 You are correct, of course. I was just noting how different it is between a holiday summer weekend and a cold night in January on the Range.
I note the car has a Quebec license plate. At that time the Bonneville was only available in the U.S. Top of the line in Canada back then was the Parisienne. The 58 my favorite 1950's car.
My dad had one of these. It wouldn't start unless the spark was advanced a bit, which made it kick back on the crank. I know. Dangerous if your thumb got caught on the wrong side of the handle..
I agree I have a 57 Bel Air Sport Coupe that I've owned since 1976 but the 58 Bonneville is still my favorite. In 1958 there was a severed recession in the U.S. and car sales fell off a cliff.
John Prine passed away this week. He was amazing. When I played piano in a Chicago club we used to go to The Earl of Old Town on Rush Street to hear him after work. Never heard him do this song but it's easily my favorite John Prine original, especially when applied to one of my favorite places. RIP Mr Prine! You will be missed
I agree it was stupid to take down the playground and I remember playing tag and enjoying some of my best elementary moments. I remember the 3rd grade had a petition to keep the park and I believe of the school signed but of course they still went through with it.

Yes, but there have been many opposed twin engines over the years, it's a perfect engine layout because of the perfect engine balance - no primary or secondary vibrations, everything balances out. Don't forget Flat Fours and Flat Sixes either - VW, Porsche, Subaru, Citroen, Honda Gold Wing - lots more. Also Aircraft engines - Lycoming was famous for their flat twins, and Continental for their Flat Fours and Flat Sixes.
What a good girl! ❤️
Ok
Seems like it was opposed to starting. Only 2 more years till the electric starter.
At one time it was the largest in the world. It is still big tho.
Seeeee you can ok

Summer day. You should see it in the winter. Winter kills everything and it's so quiet you can hear for miles.
I do live here, and winter does not kill it let's nature sleep till spring

What’s an Upposing twin? You’ve never been an engineer! 😅

This thing is living...! It´s breathing, moving, farting ...Not like new computers on wheels..! I love it..!
a work of art as much as it is a car...seriously the best of the 50's...
Great now can I get mine run that good
Spelled Opposing not upposing
My dad had one of these. It wouldn't start unless the spark was advanced a bit, which made it kick back on the crank. I know. Dangerous if your thumb got caught on the wrong side of the handle..
Stunning beauty of that pontiac 58!😎 Love it!😊
Guess that's how john deere got the idea for the johnny plopper .🌟
That is a beauty. I don't know why people are so obsessed with 57 Chevys when these things are around.

Neat ,I bet thst mag will bite, do the gas lights work
I think you might find that they're Acetylene lights. No LPG in those days!
Spent so many years on that dock growing up, and this happened to be my birthday.
if Citroen made a washing machine it would look like this. Clean enough to eat off of.

One of my favorite tunes from The Hal Roach Films..Including those of Laurel & Hardy.

It's a shame they tore it down. One of the best playgrounds around.
Its a Boxer engine, like many of the BMW motorcycles.

The Magneto is the Same as was used in telephones of the Era...
It looks similar, but totally different inside.
