This is great man... simple as this song is it puzzled me as a novice....and I remember thinking if I could learn this song maybe I'd impress a hot chik at a party.......maybe it's not too late lol
Being a Doors fan since the first time I really heard them I can tell you appreciate them as much as I do. May I suggest you play my favorite bluesy Doors song Maggie M'Gill.
You left out the last 2 stanzas; (1) Girl jumped out my window in the cold pouring rain, Girl jumped out my window in the cold pouring rain, Baby come on back - don't even know your name. (2) Baby come on back your cloths are on the floor, Baby come on back your clothes are on the floor, Don't use the window - you can use the door. Then the Waa, waa part.
Agree. Not rock's best band thanks to the Stones, but surely rock's most interesting band. Everything a rock band should be: danger, true rebellion, sex, art, unpredictability, incredible songs and vocals, with no posing or pretense or bullshit whatsoever. Simply put, the epitome of rock and roll. Yeah, so fuck it, rock's best band
I've always loved this song. Effortlessly captures the atmosphere so well. I'd say the four of them create the perfect blues here probably without even realising it - lazy, soulful and beautifully understated.
At 70 years of age, Light My Fire perfectly describes musically my teen (hippy) years. The guitar solo in it, is the basis for everything psychedelic. But lets not forget during LA WOman, Morrison was deep in heroin and drinking. I am shocked he made it through the album. He died shortly there after
Your channel could just as well be named "Soulful Music Educator" at this point. Awesome content. Love how you pick apart all the little subtleties! Keep 'em comin'.
Great as usual GP! Or Thom. Anyway. Have you heard about Robert Quine? Another great, unusual guitar player no one knows.Check his great lead in this Tom Waits song: ua-cam.com/video/ZZ4UymgYKNE/v-deo.html
So glad you did this one. I was just listening to that track yesterday. Always puts a smile on my face. The Doors did not have a regular bass (except for Patty), but often substituted the bass pedals on the organ for a lot of their stuff. Was always curious about them switching up to 2 guitars ... :-)
I want u take a look at "still got the blues" from Garry Moore...covered by Alip_Ba_Ta (fingerstyle-solo guitar).....i want ur opinian about that.....🙏🙏🙏
Love it!!! Thanks man. I just enjoyed the enjoyment of listen and maybe following a bit. But it’s the juicy parts that you pick out, that are so tantalizing in every note. Thanks!!
Thom. I sure like watching your videos brother. You’re so talented. You inspire me on every video I watch. Although I’m only a chord Garage musician. Thank you once again. Steve Scontriano

Love your job pilgrim s2
Well I’ve been down so very damn long…
That it looks like up to me...
Is that a Nintendo collection? Nice...
great stuff love the Doors so very cool
what about dire straits?
The AC/DC song "The Jack" is similar in progression?
A friend of mine was a profesional Jazz guitar player.
He said that the only rock guitar player who was accepted by jazz musicians was Robby Krieger.
Jazz musicians would be pretentious enough to make a statement like that.
nais!
I am a Patron. why can't I access tabs for this song?
Hi there
Can you tell me please?
Why did you choose the strat?
Hhhaaha
Is this standard tuning?
i hate the doors. that guy is a decadent. and the organ solos are boring
You edited your comment and still don’t make any sense.
Your comment seems to suit your name. A child would find Ray's solo's boring.
The Doors are simply just one of musically the most interesting bands of all time. Every single member contributed to their unique and iconic sound!

U need to Leave the door s alone !
Tremendous tone mate.👏🏽
bro there is absolutely no teaching being done, your just boasting your playing so lame.
Put Robbie Krieger instead of Morrison in the Thumbnail
Nice rendition but I believe Jim is trying to sing like the bottle neck ( don't tell nobody) very forbidden
Man ,,, u one cool dude,,,,,,😎. Big thanks for ur vids!
So good blues !! Good idea, thank you for the course
How about an Albert Lee video? Flowers of Edinburgh on your new Taylor guitar 👌

Simple n briliant. Its really best blues guitar tutorial on web. Love the Doors best band ever. Tx bro🎸
Awesome vid! I can hear Jimmy Reed in this track..cracking album L.A woman. And song. 🍺
Hey Pilgrim . I always thought it was Robbie playing the cry baby not Jim at the end of the song
Great blues man! Now, the lick on the 5th chord is from Jimmy Reed´s Honest I Do, don´t you think so?
Really good day! Awesome post. Jim’s baritone whisky voice is hard though.
Their best album I think. Thanks for this!!
Love it!!! Thanks man. I just enjoyed the enjoyment of listen and maybe following a bit. But it’s the juicy parts that you pick out, that are so tantalizing in every note. Thanks!!
I liked your singing. Whether you’re a great singer or not - doesn’t matter. Singing while playing guitar makes it almost always better.
Good, but do you remember some guitar players 10 or 20 years ago did not need 2 guitars to play this?
Maybe I don't understand nothing
