Robby Krieger wrote so many cool and interesting guitar riffs. Definitely one of my favorites along with Page for interesting guitar that draws you in.
I particularly like that he does not play with a pick, just fingers. Likely because of his backround playing flamenco but as someone who also plays with only fingers, I understand it's about comfort as well. Robby is probably like me insofar as I play better without a pick. Just using fingers is like having 5 picks and I can play more notes more accurately and much faster. The reason I like Robby Krieger so much as a guitar player is cause hes not much of a shredder but he writes really good songs and guitar riffs which i can personally relate to
BloodyBatons Good thing you didn’t toot your own horn or anything. lol
I am a pretty solid lead guitarist without a pick but a total hack with one. I imagine it's very similar for Robby.
@@imvandenh I bet Mr. Krieger would still be solid even if he had to use a plectrum. He's such a pro that he'd work out a way to make it sound great even if it wasn't how he normally played.
Yours truly....
Try early live Sabbath....Tony mixes heavy with jazz ...very interesting.......
I love his smile, when he starts playing "don't be cruel".he has alot of good memories about it i think
Met him a couple of times backstage, maybe 15 years ago, always jamming on his guitar and making time for fans.
Awesome how the best that part he plays and the one everyone would want to see his hands on, is when they randomly zoom in on his face for 15 seconds for no reason.
Was that shit on purpose I wonder?
sucks
Right! I wanted to see that flamenco roll thing he was doing. Shoot the camera man
TOTALLY!!! any guitarist watching are pissed!!!
@@pauljames4858 if your a good guitarist you can't figure it out by listening to it?
His right-hand technique is totally unique and amazing! Keep on rockin' Robby!
His solo on light my fire is one of the best of all time he is a real.living legend
So true, and he wrote Light My Fire, except for a few of the lyrics.
Agree but especially in the live performances
I agree...the solo sounds like John Coltrane riffing. They supposedly were influenced by Coltrane and other hard bop jazz happening at the time...
Robby Krieger, Belonged to one of the greatest Bands in history, The Doors!
Thank you, Mr. Krieger for all the excellent music you've written and played so well.
Your excellent musicianship has greatly enriched my life.
Thank You.
What a treat to see Robby play in 2019. I came of age listening to the Doors in 1967. Still love them to this day.
Seriously what's with the dude at 5:04.
Hope he stubbed his toe on a table leg
That's simply crazy
Disrespect!
He doesn't realize that he walked by a legend
It was Amateur Hour, big time!
Walked in front of a legendary musician while he was playing his instrument is not epic, dude
Been listening to The Doors a lot lately... this man’s guitar work on LA Woman is amazing!!
CHlEFFIN
Only the best rock intro ever!!!
@@Fabformcatering I also like the opening of wild child and soul kitchen
Marc Benno contribution as a second guitar on la women is often unrecognized according to Krieger

I was lucky enough to see Robby play at the Whisky this past year. It was absolutely incredible
Robbie I saw you for about the umpteenth time at City Winery NYC. First saw you in L.A. at the Golden Bear in Manhattan Beach in 1990. I've met you several times and I want to thiank you for ALWAYS being SUCH a gentleman and taking the time to interact with your fans. Loved your book as well!!! God Bless you Mr Krieger. You've changed my life. Seriously.
LEGEND. Had the pleasure of seeing him in person
Irritating they cut to his face on Spanish Caravan. Cameramen do it on music videos and live videos during instrument solos every time. Irritates me every time. Otherwise great video.
Exactly what i was thinking
Totally agree, especially when you're trying to figure certain parts out.
Best moments in lead guitar history have often been RUINED BY SHITTY CAMERA WORK.
It's called Asturias btw
@@codymyster10 is that what the droning flamenco part is called when they totally stayed on his face?
Kreiger is the most underrated 60’s guitarist. His slide solo in Moonlight Drive still gives me chills.
"Do it Robby.... Do it!!!"
You mean "Do it Lonnie....Do it! The Great late Lonnie Mack played on that track.
moviemagg That he did. He played bass on that track. However, Jim shouts for Robby to "do it!".
@@moviemagg Robbie played the solo.
Do it honey, do it!
@@moviemagg its robbie not lonnie
One of my favourite guitarists... and unique style, as he doesn’t use a pick.
I noticed the same thing. Dude's all fingerstyle! And then the flamenco at the end! Wild.
Not true. He's used a pick before, just not often.
Lots of finger players, eg. Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore.... Krieger is among the best.
@Ralph Detko - Mike Oldfield has a very unique finger-style approach to his guitar playing, as well.
You should check out Wes Montgomery then. The Best!!!
We are so blessed to have Robby and John still alive in our time.
Gonna watch an interview with sugar ray Leonard...I hope they show his boots
That's funny bruh LMFAO!!!
😂🤣🤣😂😂
Joseph Vega 🤣🤣🤣
05:04 Ghost of Jim Morrison...
That was weird
If it was Jimmo, he'd've whip out his ghost dick.
LMAO....good one!
@@RickDeevey Looooool
Would have been really trippy if he was playing Break on Through.
Thank you so much Robby! This was a great idea to show us all how to play this great song right. I love it. I wish you a good health for many many years!
Why the hell does a guy RUDELY pass by right in front of Robby as he's playing at 5:04???
Yeah, really disrespectful and as a viewer, they should have done something about it, disgusting
I think he may have been one of the sound guys
5:04 Dumbass appears
Who gives a fuck
Christian Bale would've killed him
Isn't it funny how Robbie still has a kiddish look ? He's like a 18 year old who's aged overnight. Anyways, true legend. Saw him performing with The Doors of the 21st century in 2003.
BullishGuy 123 it’s his giant head lol
the benjamin button of guitar
How could there be a Doors without Jim Morrison?
I mean 18 is a grown man as well, so not so much "kiddish" maybe youthful.
To me, he looks more dead than alive and not kiddish at all, but just like a very old man.
This guitar sound EXACTLY like the original records!
This tone is so amazing
Never change. Living legend
Love me two times baby
Love me twice today
Love me two times girl
I'm going away

Once for tomorrow, once just for today.....

The Doors wouldn't have been nearly as good without Robby Krieger. I loved his clean sound. Crappy video but worth watching just to see a legend like Robby Krieger.
Respect...Living legend.
I saw Robby at The Paramount Theater in, Long Island. I was right up against the stage. He fist bumped me. Later in the show, he gave my friend's son the hand written set-list. He's a cool dude.
Dude in 2019 I was really into the doors I was still in high school and used to ride my skateboard with my friends after school. We'd go to the mall and then to this skate park/skate shop near by our school. Fun times, drinking, skating and listening to the doors. Thank you Robby for helping write these timeless songs! You made my teenage years great man!
The most under-rated Guitarist in rock history in my opinion
Ben Forsey I'm going with Don Felder or Alex Lifeson. Don Felder is criminally underrated
Many who were/are better than him who aren't even famous
Tom delonge is the most under-rated guitarist in rock history in my opinion.
7 Platinum albums and one of the best selling songs in Rock n Roll history
but you somehow think your opinion is worth anything.
“I was on this acid trip and my Sg reminded me of the devil”
Funny that. In Italy the SG had been dubbed, since its introduction on the market in the 1960s, as the "Gibson diavoletto" ( Gibson little devil)....
....”and I liked that.” 🔥
🔥
I couldn't believe so many people did lsd. The trips weren't really that fun for most people. and the stuff is brain damaging
@@sunsparkle8443 No it’s not. There is no physical damage done to the brain. It’s all in the individual and how much THEY can handle. Acid is a pretty safe drug compared to others.
THE GUY IS A GENIUS. WHAT A PLAYER, WHAT A CAREER, WHAT A LIFE. FANTASTIC! ROCK ON FOR EVER ROBBIE AND THANK YOU.
God damn Loudwire you scared me. I thought Robby passed away
Yes but go ahead post it anyway so the comment looks bad while he is both living AND dead.
@Freddie Nunex why? I mean what made you think that he had passed away? I can't get it

Jim had some brilliant lyrics here & there; that wasn't one.
@@pygmymarmoset4007 His book of poetry The Lords and The New Creatures is truly an embarrassment.
Legend. Still one of my alltime favorite bands. His right hand technique is amazing.
I love you, Robbie. I played a Doors song for my 15 year old son and he asked me who it was. He didn't like the music because he didn't understand it. 1968 was a long time ago but I will never forget those times and the people...
A couple of years ago he sent me an autographed picture, one of the most underrated guitarist of all time
There are many guitarists who are/were infinitely better than him who have never known fame.

My dad would've loved to see this. Thank you for sharing 🤘🙏
He is still a force.
Loved hearing him play.
The cameraman was a novice or an idiot, hired a pro camera next time, especially if you are going to record a legend
He's playing...quick zoom in for dramtic effect....
Hey what ya expect from a iPhone camera?
It is true. The camerawoman messed it up.
VERY frustrating indeed.
I agree with you all. Why in the fuck would you focus on his face while he is playing? If you want to show his face fine, but pull back so we can see his goddamn hands!
His lead on Light My Fire is forever in my brain , note for note
He is a living legend and icon he has earned his flowers🌹🌸🌺🌷🌻🌼
I just watched a great documentary about Picasso. Was such a shame they only showed the back of the paintings. From the verbal descriptions they sounded amazing!
