    I’ve been suffering from male pattern baldness since late 2017. I was receding on the temples. I was in deep depression and decided to take finasteride in 2019. It’s been 2 years now on finasteride and my hairline grew back to how it was prior to receding. I can’t thank finasteride enough. I was shocked my hairline grew back. I didn’t start seeing crazy results until I stuck with finasteride consistently for about a year.

      I'm hesitant to try fin because some people experience fertility issues or low sperm count. Have you checked your sperm count?

    Hi DJ.... I thought I need to share this. I stopped taking those MSM sulphur tablets. And just by chance I started spritzing my hair periodically during the day with pure Aloe Vera Juice. I keep some in a little travel sized spray bottle. I did this just to add hydration because my hair dries out easily. Then, I also began using pure Shea butter on my hair daily after my shower. I wasn't trying to grow my hair, but I noticed and others have noticed how thick my hair has become and it has grown a few inches. My husband noticed as well and said he's going to try it too. Shea butter in the mornings on Damp hair before styling, and sprintzing with aloe vera juice here and there during the day. This is huge, because my hair hasn't been growing healthily for literally a few years now. It grew, broke and had been thinning out.

    First, thanks so much for posting the very honest videos, and they are great! Certainly understand if you do not want to answer this question, but would be a big help. You had mentioned in a previous video that you have suffered from anxiety and depression. Finasteride and dutasteride are not the best drugs to take for people with this mental afflictions. Question is, do you take an antidepressant currently? Just curious, and wonder if the current shedding you are having is from the anxiety experienced when you took the drugs. My understanding is you did quite using fin' and dut'. Thanks sir!

      Hi Mike, firstly thank you for the positive feedback; I appreciate it!
      I do not take any medications for anxiety and depression. I took Lexapro for a few months back in 2012, but ultimately decided I didn’t want to take anything. Instead, I focused on making positive lifestyle and environmental changes.
      As for my shedding, no one really knows. One of my dermatologists suggested telogen effluvium back at month 8 of dut/fin together. But nothing was ever conclusive.

    • @dualscreengrant

      You might need to use 0.5mg of dutasteride every day. I used to use dutasteride once a week and finasteride the other six days, and it wasn't powerful enough to stop my hair loss. I've been on dutasteride every day since May 2021. It's definitely more stable now because in the months prior to using dutasteride every day, I was losing hair rapidly.

    • @Marasma101

      @@dualscreengrant thanks for the advice. How month did you use dutasteride once a week for without maintaining?

    • @dualscreengrant
      @dualscreengrant 2 роки тому

      I had success with finasteride for 16 years, and then it stopped working. I don't think adding dutasteride once a week helped at all. I did that for six months but continued losing hair. I've been using dutasteride every day since May, and oral minoxidil+topical minoxidil every day since July, and I think they work. I don't think I've had a lot of regrowth, but they are preventing further hair loss.

    Should I avoid surgeons who use the ARTAS robot? It seems like some people don't like it. I am in a difficult situation because I have diffuse thinning, and I'm not sure whether it would be wise to get a transplant to improve my density. I was hoping I could thicken it with dutasteride and oral minoxidil. The drugs have helped slightly with my density, but I didn't get the result I was hoping for. My hair looks good as long as I use Toppik, but when I don't use Toppik, there's too much visible scalp. I think either a transplant or SMP might help, but is it a bad idea to go to a surgeon who uses an ARTAS robot?

    Do you think dutasteride doses should be increased over time? We know that finasteride doesn't stop hair loss permanently. I'm on 0.5mg of dutasteride, but maybe I should plan to increase it to 1mg later on and maybe 2.5mg eventually.

    • @yosefshekelberg5433
      @yosefshekelberg5433 2 роки тому

      There's no point in increasing your dutasteride dose. At 0.5mg you're already inhibiting essentially 99 percent of DHT.

    • @dualscreengrant
      @dualscreengrant 2 роки тому

      Where did you get the 99% statistic? Dutasteride does inhibit a lot of DHT, but I think the 0.5mg dose inhibits 90% at best. People like me who started losing hair as young adults need a long-term plan. Finasteride buys some time, but it's not strong enough for long-term hair loss management.

    • @darkgt91
      @darkgt91 2 роки тому

      @@dualscreengrant search on the web buddy, fin stops 70% of dht while dut stops 90 to 95% on a 0.5mg dosis, no point in taking more and risking side effects for the 5% remaining

    • @dualscreengrant
      @dualscreengrant 2 роки тому

      My hair is much better. I used to use Toppik because the diffuse thinning was pretty severe. But now it's much thicker, and there's no visible scalp as long as long as my hair is washed and dry. I've stopped using Toppik because I don't really need it. I use dutasteride and oral minoxidil. I don't know which one improved my thickness, but I know that they're both amazing drugs that help hair loss sufferers.
