      @toso4u 2 роки тому +6

      @Anuaa Adadzewa Awotwe yes Nigeria made a law like that several years ago but times have changed, there are now streaming platforms, tik tok, UA-cam etc to distribute music, I can't remember the last time I listened to a radio station, same law in Ghana won't stop people from listening to whatever music they like from whichever country it's coming from. What will help Ghana music is more investment and better marketing. Have you asked yourself why Ghana music isn't trending in other African countries apart from Nigeria, so u can see that it's not a Nigeria issue but the packaging of a good product for consumption.

    • @toso4u
      @toso4u 2 роки тому +8

      @Anuaa Adadzewa Awotwe please do whatever you can do to help your industry, its an internal problem, all I'm saying is that things are different from what they were a decade ago, there are now different options that ppl can access music that were not available then that are available now, what will help the Ghana music industry is better packaging and better marketing, if those two are lacking, ppl will always find something quality to listen to. No one listens to a music just because they want to listen to their country's artist

      2. Their Artistes won't do promos, won't hire PR firms, won't hire professional managers, won't stop singing in Twi, and they are still complaining.
      3. Their own Show Promoters complain about Ghanian artistes being lackadaisical to shows, and not working their ass off, yet its Nigerians' fault.
      4. Their own diaspora would not go hard for their music, yet it is Nigeria's fault. Please note that even Davido credited his success to the Nigerian diaspora, not Ghanaians.
      5. Their people by their own admission, are mostly insular, and on the quiet side, yet its Nigerians that are to blame.
      6. Almighty Shatta Wale has publicly criticized spending money on videos and said He would rather spend on buying more houses, and building more swimming pools, yet Ghanaians are surprised He is still a local champion.
      7. Practically all their show-biz related content online is in Twi, yet they are complaining that their art doesn't cross over.
      8. Nigerians are not big on Dancehall, and reggae, yet Shatta Wale and Stoneboy want to force us into listening . . . It's our fault.
      9. We have dozens of big local Talents that don't even cross over abroad like Small Doctor, and are fighting for air-time, yet we are to blame for not doing affirmative action for Ghanaians in our local programming.
      10. Thier biggest actors to date gained an Africa-wide fan-base from featuring in our movies - shortly after, they banned Nigerian Actors from their movie industry . . . where is Ghollywood today?
      Ghanaians are clearly not serious about this music business.

    This is what happens when you don't know the history of your music industry and your expect it to grow. Tony Tetuila ft VIP in 2006 on a song called "2 women". After that collaboration VIP was a big hit in Nigeria, I bought cds to his musical album then it was banging in all clubs. Recently, It took Goya Menor a Nigerian x nektunez who is a Ghanaian from volta region to do song Ameno remix. Before then how many Ghanaians knew Nektunez but see what collaboration does. Manner doesn't fall from heaven, make good music, go to lagos and hustle don't sit in Ghana and expect to break into Nigeria industry.

    Ghanaians are beginning to feel entitled, like it's a must Nigerian artist must do more to get their Ghanaian wack artists on terms as these 9ja artist. Same thing happened between Canadian hip hop artists and American hip hop artists in the mid 90s just after rap music took off. The Canadians felt left out and because Americans were coming over in their big cities to hold shows such as Toronto, Montreal, Canadians felt entitled and believed it must be an obligation for American artist to not only collaborate with their wack artist over there, but also boost em out upon the world stage. Soon Americans realised the bullcrap and thought, wtf ??. Afterall we gat the numbers and don't need these shows in Toronto or anywhere in Canada to get world recognition. The world can still here us all over our American music space. And that's what they did....cut ties with Canadian hip hop bullcrap.....until many years down the line, Drake from Canada blew up. And even so, Drake still reps America and that's because the whole hip hop thing is just an American soul. Afro beat is 9ja and this is exactly how its gonna go down. At some point, every artist will have to sound like 9ja, rep 9ja, b4 they will blow up. Ghana bow down and stop acting like an entitled spoilt lil' brat. 9ja don't yall, yall need em. They can easily pull off their artist from going over there and it won't make any difference to 9ja music growth but rather, will cripple yall. Respect 9ja 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬

    Ghanaian musicians need to understand the fact that some of these Nigerian artists still have a lot of boxes to tick in their music career. They seem so big but there is room for personal growth and development. Davido has not won Grammy, he would be working towards getting one. Wizkid and Burnaboy have just won Grammies in their entire career. The artists want to become a better version of themselves by collaborating with global artists bigger than them. Fireboy just featured Ed Shareen on Peru remix. The remix has garnered 15 millions views in just ten days of released as compared to 10 millions views by the original releases about five months earlier. That's the power of collaboration.

    Stop referring to it as Love.What love??? Features are not provided for free. You pay in cash or in-kind for features!!! When a feature is free,You might have to pay back in verses. The receiving artist might not release it immediately, but they have it surely on demo. Remember that such decisions must be approved by the MUSIC LABELS. Ghanaians sometimes believe that Nigerian artists must move to Ghana to grow, but this is not the case. I remember my friends and I jamming to Nigerian music in major nightclubs in central London, UK, 11 years ago. Nigerians are everywhere, and these artists have organic fans in every major city in the world. To top it up, they make good music.
    Musicians in Nigeria have managers, public relations, and record labels. It's a business. If the Label believes that a deal as regards a feature will not help reach an anticipated profit margin, there may be issues with funding and marketing. Even if an artist records a song with another artist, the parent label can still remove some verses. The ability of an artist to overrule certain business decisions may be determined by the terms of a recording contract, contracts with publishers and collection societies, the manner in which rights are transferred to the artist, and how various factors are regulated.

    Guys seriously you need to calm down when it comes to Nigeria/ Ghana music. In a nutshell, I am still waiting for Ghanaian artists to ask for 'musical benefit' from Nigeria. Judging from what is going on, I am of the idea that Nigeria should rescued Ghana through recolonisation- musically of course thus giving us the leverage on how to coach willing Ghanaians how to sing, act, and manage themselves. Of course, we can also introduce Nigeria political chaos to Ghana, may be that might also help to motivate Ghanaians on how to produce good songs to the rest of the world. Well, the bottomline is this: Ghanaian artistes need to work hard,get more experience, if they want apprenticeship, then,apply to Nigeria, we will be glad to support. Nigeria cannot be forced to fund Ghanaian musical industry simply because of 'African brotherhood' and more so, the standard of Ghanaian music compared to Nigerian music is poor, archaic, and localized and therefore our musical industry cannot be drag into this kind of arrangement. Seeking entitlement from Nigerian artists is not the right way to find solution to the dwindling of Ghanaian music.

    It's quite sad that whole Ghanaians are crying about trying to hit Nigeria market, Nigerians are focusing on the world lol. Ghanaians need to realize that making music also needs international appeal if you want to hit beyond your borders. That means reducing the local Twi a bit and experiment with new sounds. Your music still sounds like what we Nigerians did 5 years ago. Time to evolve
    You people think staying from comfort of your home in Ghana will get you global? No, your artist should be traveling to Nigeria, link with as many players as you can the same as our acts often come to Ghana for the same reason. But you people think they come to your country for fun? No, we travel to get business done and then some fun involved if possible.
    We've always been open to other African acts but we will not accept trash songs either, even from our own artists. Increase standards and support your TALENTED acts, not noise garbage like Shatta Wale.
    The music industry isn't about doing favors for one another as you Ghanaians like to call it, it's all business involved. You're not playing Nigerian songs because you're trying to support, you simply enjoy our music enough to want more. Tell your artists to improve their craft so Ghanaian songs are enjoyable to listen to and we'll join you in the experience.

    The guy on hat is ignorant. There was a period in Nigeria when we play mostly American music. Our artists didn't complain, rather, they put in the work and build the industry from scratch. Will Ghana musicians compel Nigerian artist to help them if they weren't global?
    I could remember a time when Ghanaian actors such as John Dumelo, van vicker, Nadia Buhari and others were more popular than Nigerian actors, I mean Ghanaians practically dominated Nollywood. No Nigerian actor complained, rather, they put in the work and today, they are back at the top.
    Ghanaians needs to get rid of this entitlement spirit, You cannot compel people to help you simply because you have once helped them in the past. Like I said, if Nigerian artists are not global, Ghanaian artist wouldn't be this bitter and hell bent on receiving support from them. Why aren't Ghanaian artists clamouring for support from Kenya artists , simply because they aren't global and wouldn't have much effect on them. Lastly, Nigerian artists owe Ghanaian musicians nothing.

    I live in the US and listen to a lot of big and upcoming Nigerian artistes like Oxlade, Omay lay, Buju, Cheque, Rema, Alpha P, Singah, Guchi and the list goes on. I never discovered any of them via a Ghanaian feature. It’s always either they get signed by emPawa, Mavins, Jonzing, P Classic Records or they get featured by a big Nigerian artiste. Sometimes, I stumble on a feature by a Ghanaian artiste after these guys have become popular. Anyways, the biggest driver of success for these younger Naija artistes is PR and marketing. I have discovered new Nigerian artistes in the last 12 months via TikTok dance challenges, but not a single artiste from Ghana! Chale what be the problem with your marketing?!

    Nigerians are everywhere, the Nigerians in gh are the people supporting and promoting our songs not Ghanaians. If Ghanaians can really promote songs then why are they not promoting their songs? Nigerian musicians didn't wait for American musicians to help them, they worked very hard and today American artists are now featuring Nigerian artist so Ghanaian musicians should work on their craft and see if wizkid, burna boy and davido will not feature them, We Nigerians love good music.

    For example, look at Shatter Wailer, he once said he does not need management, that him, himself is his management, now you expect that fool at 40 to go global without the right connections, management and plugs, yes, he got featured with Beyonce, he should have used that as a spring to boost his songs globally and connected to Beyonce fans in the US, but that fool is at Ghana bragging about swimming pools, yet he would come out and blame Nigerians...
    Nigerians don't relent, they know once they dont up their game it all dries up..the money, fame, houses, swimming pools etc....money dey finish o abeg make person tell Shatter Wailer.

      You said it all. Shatta Wale, epitomizes the mindset of most Ghanaians, once they attain a little success they think that’s the end of the road and will run around bragging about their achievements until that success is depleted. Another problem with most Ghanaians is that they lack gratitude, if you help and work with a typical Ghanaian and he or she becomes successful they will turn around and disown your contribution or help and would rather like to claim all the success

    I can see d problem now is if I understand the other guy correctly is most of the features is Ghana musician ft Nigerian musician not the other way round ok, but if you are Nigerian you would know that there was a time we face this same problem with foreign artist such as the American artist but you know what we, we improve on our music, we jump on any sound that gaining grounds, our artist don’t stay one place they move out of there comfort zone to promote there music, and on the other side of you saying we don’t promote Ghana artist let tell there was a time VIP, R2bees, sarks, are all big here in Nigeria, mind you those Nigerian artists that are big today it took them time, dedication and hard work to be where there are.

      I think the problem for Ghanaians is that they compare themselves to Nigeria too much like they're mate with us in this music game. They have to understand just because we're neighbors and collab often does not mean we move at the same pace. We're far too big and competitive country for them to keep up. They should be focusing on improving their own music first. From that i notice their music industry structure resembles where we were at in the 90s/2000s before our own artist finally decided to step up their game from American dominance back then. Hopefully Ghana will move past that stage and support their own acts instead of blaming us for their shortcomings like Shatta is trying to do.

Culturally we actually relate the most to Cameroon because they have Yoruba-related tribes, Hausa, Fulani and Igbo just like Nigeria. Thats why they look like Nigerians. Outside of our Neighboring countries we actually most relate to Seirre Leone for Southern Nigerians and the North relates to Somalia. We have no relation to Ghana culturally but they always look to Nigeria for what?
