On May 20, 2023, the Grammy winner performed in Paris, France at the La Défense Arena as he continued his ‘Love, Damini’ World Tour.
The hitmaker sold out the 40,000 capacity Arena in what’s an unprecedented feat for African artists.

Burna Boy is massive. Burna Boy is an international superstar. He actually gets more love in Europe and around the world, than in Nigeria. The top 5 cities that stream Burna Boy’s music are all outside of Nigeria. Burna Boy has the most weeks spent on International charts by a significant margin of any African Artist. African Giant is one of the best selling albums in Dutch history. It’s been on the Dutch album charts for 140 weeks. African Giant was 70th best selling album in Holland in 2019, 42nd in 2020, 95th in 2021, and 75th in 2022 (no other African album has ever charted on a country’s year-end charts for 4 consecutive years). African Giant has also charted on the French charts for 139 weeks. Both of these marks are records for African artists on international charts. No other African artists comes close to these records on international charts. Burna Boy’s albums have spent a cumulative of 600 weeks across various international charts (1st African artist to do this). Love Damini is currently charting in 50 countries on Apple Music (10 months after its release). Love Damini charted number one in 65 countries on Apple Music (another record for an African artist). Love Damini also had the most worldwide chart entries of any African album with 13. Love Damini is also still in the top 20 of the Dutch charts, and is still charting in France as well (10 months after its release). Burna Boy has the highest ever charted albums in the UK, US , Holland, Canada, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. In some of these countries he’s the only African Artist to ever chart an album there, in most of them he has both the highest peak and most consecutive weeks on their charts. In fact, in some countries such as Holland, he has multiple albums that have charted higher and spent more weeks on the chart than any other African artist. Love Damini,, Twice as Tall, and African Giant are the 3 highest peaking African albums in Dutch history. The most weeks spent on the UK album charts (Love Damini-14 weeks, African Giant is second with 12 weeks, the next closest African artist is Asake’s MMWTW with 9 weeks). Love Damini was the 11th best selling album in Holland in 2022 (it was released in July 2022). Love Damini is the fastest African Album to be certified (Gold in only 4 months in Holland). Burna Boy has sold out 2 arenas and a stadium in Holland and sold out Accor Arena twice and a stadium in France, as well as selling out arenas in the US and Dublin. Moreover, he did arenas in Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and across the US. Burna Boy had a whole Caribbean tour which included him filling up the Jamaican National stadium in Kingston. Mind you, when he performed in the Bahamas, the President of the Bahamas watched him perform and met him. Burna Boy at one point last year was ranked second behind Bad Bunny on the global digital artist streaming rankings. He’s already sold out a 40k stadium in Holland, sold out 40K stadium in Paris, almost sold out an 80K stadium in London, and he’s already sold over 21 thousands tickets for his stadium show in NYC (in just the 1st month of sales). Burna Boy has won a Grammy (as well as having multiple nominations), an Edison award (biggest award in Holland), BET awards, MOBOs, nominated for BRIT awards, as well as winning other less significant awards. Rolling Stone ranked Burna Boy as the 197 greatest singer of all time on their list of the 200 greatest singers of all time (the only other Nigerian singer that was on the list was Fela Kuti). Burna Boy also has the highest peak on the global Spotify album charts. Love Damini has over 2 Billion streams across all DSPs in only 10 months (including over 700 million streams on Spotify, and over 500 million streams on Apple Music alone). African Giant also has over 700 million streams on Spotify. Burna Boy has sold over 1 million album units in the US, and has 2 RIAA certified platinum singles. Burna Boy is also the only African artist with 4 albums that have over 200 million streams on Spotify. Last Last was the 10th most searched song on Google in 2022, and it had the most year-end entries of any African song in 2022 with 15 countries. Last Last was the 4th most viewed UA-cam music video in the UK, and 8th in New Zealand and South Africa (it was released in May). Last Last was the 65th most streamed song on Apple Music in 2022 (released in May, 1st African to do this). Last Last was the number 1 most streamed song in sub-Sahara Africa on Apple Music in 2022. Even after listing all these things, there are things that I’m forgetting to mention. Nigerian media and blogs don’t post about these things, but Burna Boy continues to shine brighter.
