Hello Gareth! Thank you so much for such a lovely comment mate. Does mean a lot. I do try very hard to make interesting and useful videos....takes a lot of time , afford and money : ) Check out my other videos if interested! Stick around and ride safely. See you around.
I have the remote with the wheel...ive tried the evolve remote and I agree that all remotes just takes getting used to. I love that charger tho. Another great comparison video... Thanks Pavel 👍
@@PavelGarmas I'm fine thanks m8... Hope you are well...if I don't comment on a video it's only because I don't use that item..for example belt drive (I use hubs) Lipo battery (I use lithium ion) etc... But I always watch and learn and like ;)... Don't stop doing what you're doing it's very helpful for the Esk8 community.👏👍
Pavel.....I ordered the same remote Monday and just got it delivered....got the same deal you did....found the link online. Still designing my board but getting all the parts ordered first...love yur videos man......building a dual drive 6380's with 12s7p with GT wheels and Unity Vesc.....laminating the board soon.....may decide to vlog the build...not sure. Ride safe and thanks for the reply on your other video on motor specs as well.
Pavel....question on this remote.....are there different modes ...beginner-expert etc like other remotes have...just curious as I don't see that on any menu...thanks
Marc, No there are no setting like that on the remote. I am adjusting my board using the metr pro Bluetooth module and the phone app. Got video on that ...
Good remote until you have complete signal loss from interference. 3 months no issues until the other night 5 to 6 seconds of no response. Aerial on outside of enclosure as well
No disrespect to Pavel because mines been flawless due to his advice until the signal loss which was not anything to do with install so 100% back his suggestions. Just needs a little tweaking
I have to say that I really like the cheap remote for my Ranger-just a wheel control. As I often ride in cold weather, the wheel operates very well while wearing full gloves, and I like having acceleration and breaking without having to lift my thumb and move it to the top of the remote for breaking , as with the Evolve. Again that's more important when wearing gloves. It looks like the display on the Evolve remote is a bit bigger, but it can be difficult to see in bright sunlight. As always, my friend, a well done and informative video!
Valid point mate! I do not like the wheel operated remotes much but again - everyone to they own : ) This is why i like DIY - create your own and use the parts you like .
im guessing you got the original ranger remote like i have, and not the new R2 remote from the sounds of it. I am curious about the new remote. kinda similar design, but more info, etc. But yeah, I agree with you in regards to using the thumb to brake. I tried the Evolve one once, and it just doesnt feel the same to me. Maybe I just need to get used to it, but prefer the thumb wheel Loving my Ranger so far
Lovely to hear from you mate. Maytech remote is the new V2 version....does feel quite nice but will take getting used to. I will test and upload another video.
It needs a trigger guard! Or dead man switch. I really like Evolve remote and need something similar for DIY. The fact that it has no charger plug is a huge negative. You can not ride and charge the remote from external batterypack (i do this often on my Evolve remote because i forget to put it on the charger)
Totally agreed.... nice remote though. The wireless charger can be plugged in to the USB port on the battery pack so no need for the plug on the remote.
Are any remotes proportional with braking and throttle or is everything on/off with a top speed and accel curve? It stops me from wanting an electric board since it seems like nonsens to hit the button and get one speed (having to change top speed is fine but i want to control my accel like an RC car) Why is the nonsense that is standard board control never addressed in any video by anyone?
Hi mate, Thank you for watching and for the question. I short - no. Most cheaper esc units come with the remote receiver inbuilt and work with the remote provided only. I have never used the esc you are mentioning but do assume that there is no PPM cable on it? Another issue is that esc units are not programmable ( most cheaper once ) but you do ned to program the esc when using PPM remotes.
Hi Pavel, Nice video I hadn't come across that remote before and sounds ideal for off road hope its as good as it looks. I went with the Hoyt st. remote myself and that's nice having lots of throw. Have you noticed the maytech remote looks a bit like a shark? It might be just me it is late !!!
Another great vid Pavel! I'm very interested in this remote, how did you get the discount? About to pull the trigger on some Etoxx helicals and get started on my first DIY! your videos will be very helpful I'm sure! Thanks for producing these you are a legend!
@@PavelGarmas definitely keen on that remote, haven't seen another one that I like more than the maytech. Vesc wand seems promising but I wanna use Unity.
Hi, Good point but i think the remote will work with any vesc unity or not. Ok so I did speak to Maytech and ....if you contact Mandy on agnes@maytech.cn and say " recommended by Pavel Garmas " you will get 45% off : )
@@PavelGarmas I read somewhere that the unity doesn't have the same firmware as the other VESCs and without changing Unity firmware it won't work with the wand. Cheers mate 🤙
i like the remote the braking thing and the battery percentage indicator all of it but the price is too high can you do other video on remote controller with a braking button on and a battery % indication on it but much more cheaper
Hello mate! Thank you for the question....it does come with a receiver that is already paired so i would say 99% that yes- you need to change it. I can try to pair to another board later if you want.
Hello, I do really like the remote and it does work well. I do have another video where I do actually use it so take a look. Price wise....yes it is not cheap but I did buy it during the promotion so had 40% off. It is expensive because it is 100% water proof and is designed for the electric surf boards.
Hi Maytech now do have generation 2 of the same remote and they do advertise as 100% water proof for up to 1 meter. Its meant to be designed for the electric surfboards. I never tried to dip one under water though.
It's just like the evolve remote. The problem I found is this type of remote you push forward to stop and all the other remotes you push forward to go forward. I broke my arm because of this confusion. So please be careful.
yeah, i know what you mean. I got a no name brand a while ago, and for that the remote used thumb down to accelerate, and up for brake. totally threw me when I got something more decent (that actually use the forward to accelerate, etc)
Maytech are definitely not cheap but the quality does look quite good. I do normally pay top dollar because I am trying to review new parts but if you wait a bit , normally prices come down and there are some good sales sometimes. You can get 5% off just by mentioning my channel to Agnes at Maytech though.
This is such an awesome video... lot of people complain about the remotes but no one else has given a good solution to the problem!

how did you get the remote cheaper :-)
