I'd also recommend Supergiant's other game soundtracks (Bastion, Transistor, Pyre), they've all got a different sound and they're all excellent. Must-listens for anyone into game music, imho. This particular piece is one of two special instances in the soundtrack where Darren Korb collaborated with his good friend Austin Wintory, who's responsible for soundtracks including, Journey, Abzu, and the Pathless (all fantastic OSTs, btw). If you like the orchestral elements in this song, I'd strongly recommend On the Coast from this game's tracklist, as well as I Was Born for This and/or Apotheosis from the Journey OST. While we're at it, just go ahead and count me among the many people here who've already said yes, Hades is fantastic and you should totally play it if/when you get the chance. It became the first game to win a HUGO award for a reason and I've put over 300 hours into it myself XD
Ashley Barret is indeed amazing. She has done an incredible job in various songs in all of the games from this company (supergiant games). Needless to say that not just hades but all of their games have honestly INSANE soundtracks, its the same composer on all of them too. Do spend some time listening to them. You'll be glad you did. I have lost count of how many times I have listened to them over the years. Too good man.
To be honest all the games of this team seem to just ooze and drip audio-visual style. Everytime a new game of them comes out I more or less don't even think about it anymore and just get it. Haven't been disappointed yet. And if you like the art, the style and the music as well as are a fan of greek mythology already you will probably dig the game for that alone. It's also one of the most fluid, gorgeous isometric fighting spectacles to watch and play. The only thing I think that MIGHT put you off, depending on how you view those mechanics, it is a game designed around running the levels, trying, failing and dying and then trying again with a tad more tools at your disposal. Aka a rogue-like or rogue-lite (sorry, don't really know the difference to correctly categorize Hades there). I reccomend you watch some gameplay trailer or something and if having to try again is not a deal-breaker for it, pick it up! It's a fun romp.
Also, let's not forget the orchestration and recording of this particular song was conducted by Austin Wintory, the legendary composer of Journey. With Darren, Ashley, and Austin, this song is truly a musical Avengers Assemble moment.
Hi Jesse, here to say you this channel is amazing! The singers of this song, are two PGs on the game! I'm freaky loving the ends after the bridge, when horns enter in the chorus 😍 Hope to see other videos of games cause there are many greats out there!
i believe this is the only track they recorded for the game with an actual performing orchestra. in every other track (besides The Unseed Ones where they called in two guest guitarists) Darren Korb, the composer for Supergiant, plays every instrument and does male vocals.
Regarding the game, it can be harsh and difficult at the beginning, but it gets better as we gets more accustomed to the gameplay and unlock more weapons and stuff. The dialogues, as expansively varying as they are, were voiced splendidly. The characters tend to have something different to say/tell depending on what we did. And the story overall plotline is also pretty good, albeit kinda lighthearted despite the fact that it happened in the underworld.
I had a great time with Hades and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys challenging gameplay, great music, and Greek mythology, so I definitely think it's worth a try for you. Not as big a time sink compared to other games from my experience either, so you hopefully wouldn't have much issue fitting it in with your usual schedule. Glad to see you enjoying the OST regardless, though!
Commenting in the first minute. You would LOVE Hades. The story is one thing i could sing praises about, and the music is another. But none of it works without the gameplay. Hades is a very satisfying game to play. Every second youre doing something that just makes the brain say "Yes, this feels good." Play Hades. Please.
lmaoo that's just what UA-cam automatically provides for premiere. I promise im not that cool to make that. I use it in all my premieres cause its hype lol.
@@JessesAuditorium For real? UA-cam just gives folks that for free? Not what I expected at all! XD I may be hyper-critical of YT at alot of times but I stand by everything I said about this. It's still MVP animation work.
Hades is AWESOME! Easily my third favorite game of all time. Though, it is quite difficult at times, it is incredible and it can be argued by myself and most others, that the difficulty adds to the fun. I was actually only able to finally get the true ending around four hours ago and it was a blast. Still gonna keep playing because there's so much to do. But, about it being difficult, if you're good at adapting to scenarios and you can memorize the buttons or keys easily enough, it's a good time. Doesn't exactly require tons of skills in other games but that would help.
Thanks for the reaction! This game is definitely one of my favorites of all time, the soundtrack is incredible and i listen to it almost daily haha Hope you enjoy more pieces from the OST :)
Unlike most game studio, Supergiants has Darren Korb as one of their core team member. So the music and OST were the core part of their games from the very beginning of their pre-production phase and integrated into the narrative and how they tell their stories. I highly recommending checking out Bastion - Setting Sail, Coming Home. If you like surprise, this should fulfill that requirement.
The guy singing is the voice actor of Zagreus who is that guy in the art but he also does the singing voice of Orpheus in the game. So, he is Zagreus during dialogues but he is Orpheus when he sings.
Hades is a really, really good game for somebody with a busy schedule like yourself because I feel your pain there. It can be very hard to squeeze in game time among other things, but Hades is structured in runs that take at most 30 minutes to an hour in which you try, die, and try again, making more progress and unlocking more dialogue on each attempted run to get to the end. The combat is simple but addicting, the voice acting, music, and characters are great, it's HEAVILY replayable and very easy on the eyes, and like I mentioned, the "runs" structure makes it is to pick it up, do one run, and then move on to other responsibilities. Very highly recommend it, and as if I didn't praise it to hell already, it's pretty cheap too.
You should see some of the reactions people had when they first encountered some of the characters in this game; never gets old seeing the jaw drop, haha. This is indeed a very sexy game - the music, the character designs, the voice acting. Not to mention the fantastic gameplay and story! I've played Hades since it was in early access and have been obsessed for a year straight; ever since its official release, I've recommended it to everyone and anyone. There's a reason why this game has so many perfect scores from every reviewer; and my only response to those was a nod of approval, because OF COURSE it did, that is no less than what it deserves! Absolutely would recommend. If you want to see more, you can find the official trailers on youtube. You can also find a series of videos by NoClip documenting the development of Hades while it was in early access. Each video focuses on a different aspect about it, and there is also one about sound & music - here you get to see the man himself, Darren Korb, doing his thing.
the thing I love the most in the Supergiant musical method is what songs are earned and by what, you get this song for completing Zagreus journey as he escapes the house of Hades and goes home to the house of Hades, you have to fight every step of the way, even after game wise you finished the game and won you still need to die 10 times over and over again and in the end as you return alive you hear this song for the first time, calling you home to rest
Each time I heard the songs for the first time when I played it my jaw always dropped. Such an amazing game with beautiful story, beautiful art design, and beautiful songs. Easily knocked the spot for my most favorite game of all time
Please please please react to "In the Flame" or "Never to Return," also by Darren Korb and Ashley Barrett, from the game Pyre. They're...amazing, and powerful.
Pyre was the only SGG game I didn't "finish" because the gameplay started feeling stale to me - but the story and music are amazing (and the visuals... I mean, it's a SuperGiant game, after all)
I instantly buy every Supergiant game soundtrack without question because they are consistently phenomenal. Ashley and Darren's harmonies give me life.
One great thing about Hades is because it's a rogue-like, even if you only have like a half an hour of free time to play, you absolutely can. I think it's a great game for people who are super busy.
Hades is a very good game. The mechanics and story compliment each other perfectly. Also, the game has 2 versions of the song Good Riddance, sung by the two singers that did this song as solos, that are very different.
The king and the bull and God of the Dead - Those 2 are probably my favs, but i recommend to just run spotify, and listen to entire fucking soundtrack, it's just so good
Honestly, i do think that you'd enjoy it. It's such a fun experience gameplay wise and story is great too. Lots of cool characters that share very interesting and relatable tales. If and when you do get this game, I hope you have tons of fun man.
Hades is one of my favorite games of all time. Its a roguelike with hack-n-slash style combat that involves lots of tight timing for both your attacks and dodging. The basic concept idea is that you play as Zagreus and are attempting to escape from Hades. As you have already seen, it has a great sound track. It's a game that's can easily be either binged for hours on end or played for short stretches thanks to frequent checkpoints. The character progression system and the story progression makes even failed runs help you along. The writing and voice acting are top tier. The song you need to check out from this game is Good Riddance. There are 3 versions of the song, both Orpheus and Euridice (the two characters who sing In the Blood) have solo versions and then there is a duet version with both of them. All 3 are good, but my personal favorite is Euridice's solo version. Now that I mention it, I need to go listen to that song right now.
I’m way late to be answering your question asking if you’d like playing Hades and regardless my honest answer is it’s the best game of all time 😆 I’ve put 500 hours into it and I got it for 15 bucks! It is fun from the moment you begin playing it, and EVERYTHING about it is unbelievably manicured and layered. For example, it’s a roguelite yes but there’s also a dating sim in there, a fucking great story, you can fish for gods sake it’s insanely good
If you want more from the same composer, but from a different game, the Bastion soundtrack is great! I can recommend listening to "Terminal March" or "Spike in a Rail" :)
This game is awesome! It's a roguelite. The combat is tight, and challenging with tons of like opportunities for customization. You'll be trying to progress through several rooms filled with enemies, fighting the same bosses, to reach olympus, and every time you die you go right back to the beginning. If you like technical combat games by all means.
Hades is phenomenal. Would also highly recommend Transistor from the same dev team, AND the soundtrack which is one of my favorite soundtracks game OR otherwise, if i had to recommend only one track from transistor it would be "we all become one" it also features Ashley Barrett and is absolutely fantastic!
A good OST i rarely see talked about and could make for a good video is the binding of isaac ost. Its another top down rougelike game, and from the ost my personal recommendations would be either "my innermost apocalypse" or delirium" Edit: almost forgot the battle of lil' slugger (specifically the extended cut) from super meat boy is also crazy and a recommendation
I love this song and this game - and I agrre, it's a sexy song. Considering it's Eurydice and Orpheu singing together, I guess "Sexy" was part of the intention? I think you would like the game, yes! I also have a suggestion: Take Control - from Control
yep, im just a gamer ( ended buying Hades becoz i saw a streamer i occasionally follow play the game in early access ... it looked kinda fun and i was bored) and when i played this game i couldnt help but notice how exquisite the music is. Can you believe this game cost me less than 20€ ?!😲. To the point where i reguraly listen to this music over other great music (i love Jimmy Hendrix, the dire straits etc... ). The harmonics are insane. Also the videogame is insanely good . You play an immortal hero, stuck in a shit situation trying to get out asap, receiving powerful boons from Greek Gods who he is related to etc (just like our life right now)...🤗🤗🤗
Even though I know you don't take requests via comments... I really hope you listen to Lament of Orpheus one of these days. It is such a hauntingly beautiful song from the same soundtrack. Absolutely breathtaking.
If you played video games pre playstation play Hades. Great game. Sound track keeps you going. Side note: after watching dancing mad vids i did suggest Rise from ff14 and im such you will like it as much as i thought
If You like Hades music, I highly recommend other Supergiant Games! They've always been known for their vocal soundtracks. I 100% want to see you react to Transistor - We All Become One
Hades has some really amazing music. I would suggest giving "Good Riddance" a listen because no matter which version (Orpheus's, Eurydice's, the duet's) you pick, you are still correct with your choice.
Oh this game slaps for that matter all Supergiant games' games slaps. Bastion their first game was a cult phenomenon and while Transistor and Pyre were generally considered weaker they are both easily in the 8/10 to 10/10 range depending on what type of gamer you are and Hades is definitely their best game to date. If i had to suggest music from another of their games "We all Become" from transistor is probably the most similar to this.
First of all new subscriber here love your videos! As a FFXIV fan and Hades fan nice one man! And now I'm gonna try my best here because dear god do I love these games!! So I'm gonna ask a favour here or well like everyone I'm gonna ask for a song and for you listen to. This game ment so much to me all the games in this saga.. the name of the game is legends of heroes, trails of cold steel 4 and the name of the song is deep carnival. A man can hope right? Cya soon in the next video
The game is great for people with hectic schedules as it's a "one more" kind of game. Lots of repeatable gameplay, with new twists when you go through each time. Each run can go from 5 to 30 minutes depending if you die or take your time. I'm not a huge fan of these kinds of games and I somehow love it.
@@JessesAuditorium I've been a fan of the game studio that made it for a while now, the other games are pretty great too, and each is pretty different. Hades is my favorite, it just seems to get the formula just right
Hades is a great game and the artwork is superb. Its a action packed isometric game where you fight your way out of Hades with weapons gifted to you by the Greek gods. Its a rogue-like, which means the game expects you to die, get resurected and start from the beginning. That is actually taken into account in the story and gameplay. With reaching further and dying openning new parts of the plot and introducing new characters. And with going further earning you new weapons and blessing, many of which play completely different from each other. My point is it does not get old and boring unlike some other rogue-likes. All Supergiant Games are 9/10 kind of games. They are yet to drop the ball. That said all of the Supergiant Games have incredible soundtracks. Bastion - Build that Wall: ua-cam.com/video/o3SZee4YZX8/v-deo.html Incredibly thematic and its actually a diegetic song, sang by one of the characters in game. Transistor - We All Become: ua-cam.com/video/f9O2Rjn1azc/v-deo.html The vocals are by Ashley Barrett. This one is also diegetic, being sang by the main character, Red, before her voice was stollen. Pyre - In The Flame: ua-cam.com/video/TAWmSzN7Uf8/v-deo.html Its a game where people exiled from their worlds to a purgatory dimention and try to earn redemption and return to their homes by playing a ritualised ball game. The main character has the incredible and rare power....of literacy.
If you're into Greek mythology, I'd definitely suggest playing Hades. You're obviously getting a taste of just how insane the music is, and you commented on liking the art style. Just about everything in the game oozes the same level of style and character. It's also a roguelike that seems to attract and appeal to even those who don't usually like the genre, and it has an option to help make the game a bit less grindy if you're not clicking with the gameplay as much.
If you at all liked the Final Fantasy 14 songs you've listened to, I cannot recommend more "The Black Wolf Stalks Again", "In the Arms of War", "Ultima (The Primals)", and "Wrath of the Harriers".
This game, yes I highly recommend playing it. It's filled with Greek Mythology and as all the main gods involved in it. The story continues each time you win a run, but at the same time, you can upgrade stats with the currency you gain from each run. This is a game that had game of the year stolen from it and legitimately has one of the most incredible soundtracks in the industry. Besides it being beyond belief gorgeous and inspiring in an artistic standpoint, gameplay wise it's clean, fast paced and each run is unique. It's important to mention that this is a rogue like, basically each run is on a new generated map, once your run ends (dying 1-3 times) you have to restart, but this game actually progresses in story each time you do! So even if you're unable to beat Hades the first 10-20 times, you still get hit with lore bombs along the way.

I'm freaky loving the ends after the bridge, when horns enter in the chorus 😍
Hope to see other videos of games cause there are many greats out there!
i believe this is the only track they recorded for the game with an actual performing orchestra. in every other track (besides The Unseed Ones where they called in two guest guitarists) Darren Korb, the composer for Supergiant, plays every instrument and does male vocals.
If I find anytime in my hectic schedule, maybe I'll stream it one day haha
Commenting in the first minute.
You would LOVE Hades. The story is one thing i could sing praises about, and the music is another. But none of it works without the gameplay. Hades is a very satisfying game to play. Every second youre doing something that just makes the brain say "Yes, this feels good."
Play Hades. Please.
When i complete the game and this plays its just hits at the right place
Dude wtf is this intro?!
I WANT to watch an entire movie of animation like that!
Preferably mechs or spaceship stuff.
Love it!
I was getting a strong urge to watch more Macross with that intro animation. Love it. >XD
@@Blackwing02 IKR!? Whoever did that animation, damn.
lmaoo that's just what UA-cam automatically provides for premiere. I promise im not that cool to make that. I use it in all my premieres cause its hype lol.
@@JessesAuditorium For real? UA-cam just gives folks that for free? Not what I expected at all! XD
I may be hyper-critical of YT at alot of times but I stand by everything I said about this. It's still MVP animation work.
This Song slaps even harder when you understand the context and struggles that you go through in the games story
This video is criminally underviewed.
this song is played when you complete the main goal of the game and they roll the credits on this song ... Awesome !!!! 😍😍😍
I mean, it's a SuperGiant game, after all)
As someone who is LGBTQ, the line “home is not where you live, but who cares when you’re gone”, that hit me hard.
I instantly buy every Supergiant game soundtrack without question because they are consistently phenomenal.
Ashley and Darren's harmonies give me life.
Very fun game to chill to cause of how easy you replay it
One great thing about Hades is because it's a rogue-like, even if you only have like a half an hour of free time to play, you absolutely can.
Thanks for the honesty!
Horns?
Harmony!
Hades
Woooo more Hades!
The first song from Hades was a boss theme. This one is the following credits theme.
For example, it’s a roguelite yes but there’s also a dating sim in there, a fucking great story, you can fish for gods sake it’s insanely good
Might want to check on She Shines.
saying hades slaps is the gaming understatement of the decade
If you want more from the same composer, but from a different game, the Bastion soundtrack is great! I can recommend listening to "Terminal March" or "Spike in a Rail" :)
This game is awesome! It's a roguelite. The combat is tight, and challenging with tons of like opportunities for customization. You'll be trying to progress through several rooms filled with enemies, fighting the same bosses, to reach olympus, and every time you die you go right back to the beginning. If you like technical combat games by all means.
I dont know this Ashley Barrett but .... she can deliver Oh boy !!!
Its another top down rougelike game, and from the ost my personal recommendations would be either "my innermost apocalypse" or delirium"
Edit: almost forgot the battle of lil' slugger (specifically the extended cut) from super meat boy is also crazy and a recommendation
That name sounds very familiar, isn't that where "BibleThump" emote comes from on Twitch? lol
@@JessesAuditorium yep lol, the face is of the main character isaac.
so many good songs in this game.
I love this song and this game - and I agrre, it's a sexy song. Considering it's Eurydice and Orpheu singing together, I guess "Sexy" was part of the intention? I think you would like the game, yes! I also have a suggestion: Take Control - from Control
The story of Hades is, at its core, a tale of how to navigate a disfunctional family. Good lense to view the lyrics if you wanna listen again. 😉
Highly recommend you check out Serpent Eating the Ground - The final boss theme from Bravely Default
You would HELLA enjoy this btw. It's an action rogue-like with a great story and fantastic characters.
yep, im just a gamer ( ended buying Hades becoz i saw a streamer i occasionally follow play the game in early access ... it looked kinda fun and i was bored) and when i played this game i couldnt help but notice how exquisite the music is. Can you believe this game cost me less than 20€ ?!😲. To the point where i reguraly listen to this music over other great music (i love Jimmy Hendrix, the dire straits etc... ). The harmonics are insane. Also the videogame is insanely good . You play an immortal hero, stuck in a shit situation trying to get out asap, receiving powerful boons from Greek Gods who he is related to etc (just like our life right now)...🤗🤗🤗
This game DEFINITELY slaps. Easily my favorite game of 2020, maybe even the past 5 years.
This game slaps.
Even though I know you don't take requests via comments... I really hope you listen to Lament of Orpheus one of these days. It is such a hauntingly beautiful song from the same soundtrack. Absolutely breathtaking.
Hades slaps bro.
The Apocalyptica vibe probably comes from the base line being a cello. There's a very strong vibe similar to their Hall of the Mountain king cover.
Ooh, love that song too, nice!
hades is fucking awesome
Gonna toss one in too as one of them final fantasy players :D Final fantasy XIV - Fiend
This weekend!!
@@JessesAuditorium oo that's huge! Thought it'd be weeks :D
If you played video games pre playstation play Hades. Great game. Sound track keeps you going.
Side note: after watching dancing mad vids i did suggest Rise from ff14 and im such you will like it as much as i thought
it's coming!
Correct on multiple choice??? Intriguing.....
@@JessesAuditorium *whispers* personally I like the duet version but separately they still sound amazing
I'll try amigo 🥲
@@JessesAuditorium you have way to many songs to review I'll see mine in a year 🤣
The game is great for people with hectic schedules as it's a "one more" kind of game. Lots of repeatable gameplay, with new twists when you go through each time. Each run can go from 5 to 30 minutes depending if you die or take your time. I'm not a huge fan of these kinds of games and I somehow love it.
Hectic schedules?? Say less..
Hades is a fantastic game. Hope you enjoy it if you decide to give it a try!
*crosses fingers*
Hades is an incredible game, the designs are amazing and the stories in it are so good
How'd you hear about it? Just curious
@@JessesAuditorium I've been a fan of the game studio that made it for a while now, the other games are pretty great too, and each is pretty different. Hades is my favorite, it just seems to get the formula just right
Lot of Opethy vibes in this that I hadn't noticed before...
Sooooo now that you played it. Does this game "slap" and is it worth playing 😉
let me think about that
If you want a real facemelter like you were expecting, try The Only Thing They Fear Is You from Doom Eternal.
Bastion - Build that Wall: ua-cam.com/video/o3SZee4YZX8/v-deo.html
Incredibly thematic and its actually a diegetic song, sang by one of the characters in game.
Transistor - We All Become: ua-cam.com/video/f9O2Rjn1azc/v-deo.html
The vocals are by Ashley Barrett. This one is also diegetic, being sang by the main character, Red, before her voice was stollen.
Pyre - In The Flame: ua-cam.com/video/TAWmSzN7Uf8/v-deo.html
Its a game where people exiled from their worlds to a purgatory dimention and try to earn redemption and return to their homes by playing a ritualised ball game. The main character has the incredible and rare power....of literacy.
Awesome! I love these long insightful comments. I'll try my best to get to the requests based on my liking for these. But we'll see what happens.
Awesome! Thank you!
Hades is a great fuckin game.
I kinda got Queens of the Stone Age vibes from the vocal harmonies.
If I were going to recommend one game to someone who didn't have much time for video games, it would be Hades.
If you at all liked the Final Fantasy 14 songs you've listened to, I cannot recommend more "The Black Wolf Stalks Again", "In the Arms of War", "Ultima (The Primals)", and "Wrath of the Harriers".
Black wolf is coming.... this weekend! Almost time :)
you really have to listen to Good Riddance from HADES. Highly suggest to listen to each version separately before hearing the composite.
Well, people on the streets do say it slaps, and from what I've seen it does seem to. XD
We love a good slap
Hades has an amazing soundtrack over all but the only tracks that emphasize _shredding_ all belong to Hades himself.
you probably already have this link, but imma drop it at you incase you don't. probs something to listen to on your own time. supergiant put on a concert last year so it's just a wonderful hour-long of darren and ashley ua-cam.com/video/fpNucBxitAc/v-deo.html also the songs of supergiant ua-cam.com/video/DUHvI4dgY8w/v-deo.html which is a wonderful, fully orchestrated concert recording and it's just p e r f e c t i o n
