- Simple repair, just need a vise, hammer, adjustable wrench, tape measure and a little grease. Oh ya, and a T27 Torx wrench or driver. Part number 4140-791-7207 for the bushing. They also sell them aftermarket, Stens, etc.
Great video. I've never repaired one of them but now I know just how easy it is to do. Thank you.
Thanks Ed! How’s the K Series rebuild coming?
By the damage to the left hand some would think you were bare knuckle fighting there Kenny boy! Well done Ken appears to be and easy repair now that you have posted this excellent repair video.
My hands always take abuse! Lots of yard work and gardening this week so they are taking a beating! Thanks for watching Wayne!
Good job and tips as usual - now you can use the strimmer to knock out those weeds in the driveway !!!
Not a chance! Tgg he r customer came by to get it immediately when done!!
Grease is your friend. Had a Troy Bilt trimmer in last week for carb issues. After fixing that. One thing I always do is grease the gear head before returning the finished product. 99.9% of the time, the owner doesn't know about that grease point. Good video Kenny!
Thanks for watching Jim!
Nice to see it still has the Bows in the end, usually they are missing or broken.😎
I’ve seen them with one broken but never both. Thanks for watching!
@@KensSmallEngineRepair Seems pretty common for both to be missing over here. Trouble s with the solid drive shaft models if they shear there's no way of getting the broken bits out, so it's new shaft.
This looks like a straight forward repair if you have done it before. The tricky bit is knowing you can knock off and refit the bushing. Great video, thanks
They sell the bushing but normally you can re-use them. Thanks for watching Joseph!
Nice work Kenny.
Thanks Pete, Cheers Mate!
Nice one Kenny 👍👍
A nice and easy one for a change!
VW used a brass timing gear on the crankshaft of the older engines that we removed with a hydraulic press and reinstalled by heating in hot peanut oil. May be more trouble than it's worth for your application but they would literally slide right on.
👍🍻
I could have heated it but figured it wasn’t that tight of a fit with splines. Thanks for watching!
I'm learning on this one Ken thanks 👍
Me too!!
Job well done Ken
Thanks Hank!
Nice one ken would a couple of washes inside work to stop the plastic wearing out.
I think lack of grease caused excessive friction and heating resulting in the bushing melting its way through the tube wall face.
Thanks for the info Ken, it'll come in handy. 👍
First time for me too John!
We learn every day.
I Love the video 📹 Ken
Glad you did Rick!
if you measure from the other end of the bushing, then you can just measure from the top of the vice to the other end when tapping that back on.
It is much easier if you use a block of wood on the floor and take the locator clips out
Thanks for the tip!
Nizeeeee
Thanks Arch!
My km90r doesnt even have those ears... it just gas a square shaft sticking out
Okay then . Is there a plastic retainer on the string head lower section? Went to put blower on and string head shaft came with it ! So the attachment is broken! 🤷🏼♂️
The shaft came out of the attachment?
@@KensSmallEngineRepair
Yes!
I guess I will just have to buy a brand new attachment? 🤷🏼♂️
@@ralphp3057 I’m checking to see if it is common for an attachment shaft to come out. What model attachment is it?
It’s a Stihl KM 130 R .
