Freaking saved me BIG TIME today!! Kombi blower wasn't working right; thought it was the blower itself. Took it apart (so I know how THAT works now, LOL) and found one of the guide clips from the the drive unit inside the coupling / sleeve of the blower. It wasn't broken, had just vibrated out of the holes I guess. Took the coupling off the drive unit, put the guide clip back into place (also tapped the other down to seat it a little better) reassembled and VOILA! it works like a swiss watch. Thanks a million! Subscribed! 👍👍
That vice looks as if it is small enough to hold the shaft vertically with the plastic piece below the jaws, and the serrated flange above it. I'd try to heat the bush separately from the shaft and put it on with vice grips, then use the spanner/wrench with a mallet to drive it home. Applying the heat when it is on the shaft will cause it to expand too, making it harder to force on.
My exact problem! Just ordered 5 pack of plastic sleeves! Mine is missing stop inside tube. Also learned from another video that drive line should be greased each season! Not in manual!
This was helpful for all the part #'s, and it's helpful to see how these pieces come apart, so thx. Since you hammer those plastic sleeve retainer bushings on all the time, perhaps you'd consider chasing that heated bushing with a long & snug enough piece of steel tube stock so you get equal force on the bushing as you drive it over the teeth. The hammer & combo wrench method is ok if you're out on a jobsite somewhere, but since you're in your workshop, servicing other people's expensive equipment *and* putting it on YT for all to see your repair facility & operational techniques, there may be another way.
I've had the "guide wires" pins fall out and break many times, and 3 times so far they broke with a piece stuck in the hole and I couldn't figure out how to get it out, had to replace the whole shaft like it says in the video here. Terrible design. The guide wires don't even work very well. Pretty often you have to stick your finger in to turn it a little or rotate the attachment part to get it to line up and slide in. I wish I started with a different brand than Stihl Kombi in the beginning but I'm so invested in them that I keep buying replacement parts. I found that if you remove the plastic sleeve on the attachment side it works okay without any guide wires and you just have to hold the tool and fuss with it for an extra moment to slide the shaft in place. If you leave the attachment plastic sleeve on and the guide wires are missing or damaged the sleeve gets destroyed pretty fast.
Same problem with the one of the pins. Put some Loctite blue theadlocker on it, 3 years no problem. Getting the tiny piece out of the hole when it broke off was a SOB. Took 3 rounds
I just keep using mine with the guide pin broken, going on 2 years, then I have the metal housing on the gearbox of the articulating hedge trimmer completely PL glued in because of broken parts that wouldn't be worth replacing. Just milk a few years out of each part and replace.
Any ideas on a slipping drive shaft? The shaft turns the attachment but with no torque. As soon as you load it, the tool just slips. It happened last summer, took it to the shop, they called the next day said it was all set...just had to tighten a bolt, no charge. Service tech wasn't there so I couldn't find out more. It worked fine through the winter with the blower. Used the blower today, then the power sweeper, then the blower again. All worked fine, then went to use the power sweeper again and it would turn slowly until I put it on the ground then it would stop moving. I have no idea what bolt or device needs tightening or if there is even such a part to tighten. I see a lot of information about the drive shafts and bushings but nothing about the shaft turning but with no torque to make the attachments work. Thank you!
Thanks for taking the time on this video. I have a KM 131R and it's spinning attachments, but at around half speed. Turning the driveshaft manually does spin the flywheel up by the motor, my plastic bushing is not worn out, and I'm missing one pin like in the video. My KM is greased well. Is the missing pin my problem, or do you think something else is wrong with it?
Very helpful video - thanks. My Kombi extension shaft attachment has a problem - the square drive shaft (the end that connects to the motor head's drive) is sliding inside the extension piece's aluminum drive tube. Any tips on how to stop that happening?
Hey! Idk if I’ll get a response but my driveshaft on mine is bent so you have a video on how to completely replace or know if any because I can’t find one. Thank you!
I'm doing some repairs on my Stihl Kombi 130R and need help on adjusting the timing. The pull flows smoothly before I install the spark plug, but when the spark plug is in it only pulls a short distance then I hit resistence. Any ideas?
Really hope to get your help on a Kombi leaf blower attachment. Spins but is wobbly? Looks like a small triangular wire piece has come loose and is missing. Have you ran into that before?
Hey there I’ve seen the blower attachment wobble before if you take the plastic casing apart you can see if there’s wear where the fan piece spins if the triangle piece is missing it could possibly cause it to be out of balance the triangle pieces main purpose is to guide the shafts together when putting the attachment on. The only other thing could be that the fan piece or plastic casing is worn out or the shaft could be bent thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe!
@@chainsawmatt4849 not sure but this wire piece isn't located where the two shafts meet together. Hopefully I can figure it out. I also wrote an email to Stihl this thing is only a year old.
Outside of the guide wires, the design is fine. If you're wearing out plastic sleeves, it's because you aren't greasing them as recommended by Stihl in the directions which came with your Kombi attachments. You have to grease those PLASTIC sleeves periodically.
Using a 111r about 1 1/2 hrs a day for 2 yrs. The plastic shaft retainer is the absolute worst design! Metal spinning against stationary plastic, what could go wrong? 2nd issue I have had is the connector for attachments. I change attachments 20+ times per day. The tightening knob strips the threads in the nut way too often. If Stihl simply used a higher grade of bolt/nut it might be less of a problem. The 56 is amazing but lacks power compared to higher numbered versions...
Help, I broke the curved edger attachment by trying to loosen it the wrong way to put a new blade on. I got another bolt shaft but having a time taking the old one out. I took the circular pin off what next?
Nice video. I have a Km91r. I cannot get the shaft to go all the way into the motor. My machine is so on point with the video, with 1 exception A Rubber sleeve that I'm really not sure where it goes. When I think I've completed the repair Nope shaft is too far up. Is this boot to go in by the Stop, around it, or after the stop? Any guidance is greatly appreciated
This video was very helpful, but where can I get a replacement drive shaft? if the Kombi engine is slipping does it mean it has something in the hole or can it be something else too?
I havent been able to successfully remove the pins once they are broken but Ill see what i can do for a video on it soon!! Ill tag you in it once its done thanks for watching!
Rule no.137 don't hammer with a broken arm. Haven't had an issue with mine yet but the extention shafts for the tools suck. Break a shaft all the time.

I noticed not enough grease on any of the parts and what makes it worse is that you didn't add any!!
This was helpful for all the part #'s, and it's helpful to see how these pieces come apart, so thx.

Or even turn the spanner round and run the ring end onto the shaft so that when you hammer it, it applies even pressure.
Hi...Great video....do you ever grease the shift around the plastic guide to stop heat building up and melting the plastic....thanks....🏴
Hmm. Pretty slick how it all works. Thanks for making the kombi videos.
Glad you like them!
And no grease?AMAZING I guess you like the customer to be back lol

Sounds like the clutch could be hung up
Not wanting to disrespect Stihl, as they make fantastic tools, but I bought the Husqvarna 535LK and have had no issues at all!
I've had my stihl kombi system for almost 10 years now and never had the first problem take care of your stuff and it will take car of you for sure!!!
Nice video. The shaft on my 130 won't turn at all. Thinking the shaft is worn out? When I turn the shaft by hand the flywheel doesn't turn. Thanks
Could be something in the clutch or the shaft could be worn out for sure or at least damaged

Can the new 131’s grip be put on the older 130r and 110r’s?

Good video, I have a question what two-way radio are you using for your shop?
Do you have a video that show how to repair aluminum extension driveshaft and or lists of parts?
Which part are you looking for?
