I know the feeling, I recently reorganized my home library and keep just looking inside to see how good everything looks (after a big unhaul). Especially before bed, I take a peek inside and get that proud and happy book feeling!
Aww I did that when I came home from work before, I just popped my head in to look at it. Loved it! Also congrats on reorganising your home library recently too, I know how much of a challenge it can be haha
Your new library looks lovely. You have so much more space. The echo is definitely better at the end, but a rug might help with that too. Just to let you know, I noticed you have The Once and Future Witches on your YA shelf, but Alix E Harrow's books are adult, so that might give you a little extra space on your YA shelves :)

I loved the "oddly sized paperbacks" shelf. I thrive on uneven shelves, if I have too many books in a row that are the same dimensions I have to purposefully disrupt them 👹

For the echo: As you said a rug helps and just textiles in general, so curtains (that would really help!), armchair, pillows and so on 🙂 So envious of all that space for all those amazing books 😍

Looking lovely, well done. And 5 hours for the the majority of the work in a room is really good timing. I am jealous you can reach your top shelves - I need a step!! A lovely space. Pictures on the wall, rug on the floor (towels until you get one) and curtains will take the echo off. Have fun.

Rugs on the floor (if it’s not carpeted) and you can also hang rugs on the walls and it really helps with echo! They also make sound foam that you can put on the walls, it doesn’t look very pretty but it’s effective

carpets help great with echo! also I saw this weird hack online where you can staple a towel to a canvas and hang it on the wall and it helps echo so much (plus is super cheap)

I love your new library, now I want to reorganize mine too😅 Since you have so much space till the ceiling: IKEA sells top shelves for the Billy bookcases. That way you could have 7 rows on the white shelves and stack something on top😊

Having a lot of books is great. But staring at them all when they are in a pile on the floor can be a bit overwhelming 🌻
It looks fab! Now you have nice high ceilings you could treat yourself to the extra shelf add ons for the Billy bookshelves which add a whole extra shelf on the top of your bookshelves! Just trying to make sure you have the space for your ever growing collection.
Oh that’s such a fab idea!! I should be going higher and utilising the space, cause those ceilings really are very high haha

I absolutely love book organizing videos and your shelves are beautiful. I much prefer my books to be in order of height with series always together over anything else. This has made it hard when it comes to book series with mismatched editions and in my latest decision when I reorganized my shelf earlier today. I decided I wanted one of my bookcases to be very colorful so I did my sprayed and stenciled books edge side out (iin height order not Rainbow order) on the top and bottom shelves. Then for the middle shelf I took the large majority of my LGBTQIA+ books and put them in Rainbow order. There are hardbacks and paperbacks of different sizes all mixed together, but it has still become my favorite shelf.

I love it. It looks like you have much more room in this new place for your shelves. You could also get some half bookshelves to go in front of the windows later in if you need more space for books. There’s a lot of potential in there. You did that so fast considering the amount of books you have. Good thing you did an unhaul before you moved
Congratulations on your new place! You should get textiles to absorb the sound, rugs, curtains, even a couch and foam are great options!
I love the way you set it up. Today was very nice, because a large group of my friends and I got together at a local park and hung out for about two hours, just chatting and hanging out!

Wow, what high ceilings your new place has! You could fit much taller bookshelves in which allows for many more books! I mean, who cares if you need a ladder right? Get one of those ladders on wheels, you could then reenact that library scene from Beauty and the Beast. lol

The echo will definitely fade once you get more stuff into the room and get it decorated. A rug will absolutely help, it will absorb some of the sound and make it less echo-y. I love your shelves, and I can't wait to see what else you get for your library room. Definitely giving me library goals.

Amazing space! I am an interior designer in the US, and I typically use rugs (wool is best) and curtains (velvet or wool) to start reducing echos in rooms. If you want more noise reduction and can attach stuff to your walls, they also make some lovely modular acoustic panels that you can add above your bookshelves or on any bare walls.

I love it and excited for more. I am jealous because I need a library room or just move everything out of my closet and turn it into a mini reading room.
I don't the difference sometimes between YA and adult, but I am a stickler where it has to be alphabetized by the author's surname, then by the title of the book (a, an, the don't count if it is the first word of the title) unless it's a series which then goes in chronological order. I like how everyone reorganizes their shelves differently. I am happy for you and it looks cozy.

I am going to have to be doing this in a couple of months if estate agents get back to me. Looking forwards to moving when it eventually happens but at the same time having to sort my shelves out and buy new shelves as mine are falling apart and I don't think they will make the journey in one piece.

for the odd sized adult paperbacks: though it wont help with the verticaliproblems, i tend to pull my read books forwards to the spine of the widest book if that makes sense? like I have the dan&phil book on the same shelf as the descendants books but i just lined up all the spines with the dan&phil book because of its width.

Perfect timing got this video! I'm gonna be moving into my new place, hopefully next week and I'm finally gonna have a whole room to dedicate as my library with built in shelves! But I'm still trying to figure out how I want to organize it, lol. I kind of want to do it by theme/genre, then A-Z within that, but I'm not sure. As for the weird sized paperbacks on the adult shelf, if they bug you too much, you could always move those and put them after the normal sized ones, that way they will be towards the bottom and less noticeable.
