Barrel ceiling is a definite YES. The ancient library ruins is a NO. What a nightmare that would be to keep dusted and cleaned. All the wonderful objects you placed there are just perfect! Thank you for sharing.
My Father rebuilt a castle house in Hollywood. Many of the ceilings were vaulted curved and ornate. He ended up hiring a dear old carpenter friend to help him as he had extensive knowledge in how to construct those ceilings. They were beautiful but probably one of the most complicated and difficult tasks. Along with a stone spiral staircase those were a master builders’ projects. They used rare and precious woods so waste was not an option. I felt privileged to observe and see the finished castle.❤
@@suburbanhomestead I think it depends on what you plan to do with the rest of the house. If you want a cohesive feel aesthetically, I would not do the barrel ceiling unless you plan to keep some design concepts throughout the house to tie it together. Otherwise it will be the odd room.
THANK YOU for NOT taking the HGTV approach of promoting unnecessary consumerism. Creatively designing around what you have to solve problems is wonderful and much more interesting
So glad you added interior design to your channel. You have such a beautiful home and I learned so much. Please do more of these. It's frustrating when people add-on or "renovate" old homes with no regard to the style or time-period of the house, but wow you made that awkward, plain, disjointed room a real jewel!! Also, the barrel ceiling and library ruins are genuis ideas.
I think we have similar mindsets when it comes to intervention within old homes. Ideally, everyone would be mindful when creating spaces. I hope this series helps.
I agree that you are tackling very relatable challenges in your videos. Tearing everything out and building back from scratch is just not feasible for most people. It’s extremely helpful to see someone work with what they have to transform a room.
If you own the home and plan to be there for a while, add the barrel ceiling and library ruins if it's more than a notion and something that you want to invest the time and effort in for the end result. There is nothing like curling up under a throw with a good book and a cup of tea or hot chocolate in a room that's cozy and you can just "be". Yes, it will be a lot of work and only you know if it's worth it. If you decide to go for it, LET US SEE 🙂!
That's perfect I never really cared for the open floor plans that everybody got into. I'm hearing now that people are going back to having more individual rooms in their house. Let's face it there's times we need to separate and be alone.
I feel that the pandemic made people realize the necessity for divided room, especially since the whole point of open floor was entertaining large groups.
@@lenoreoak3541 my mom's home is an open floor plan, but she sections it off with furniture groupings. I think every home has things you love and things you wish were different.
When he started wallpapering the wall with pages of a dictionary, you had to hoover my jaw off the floor! This was no run of the mill home reno video with all ikea pieces, but truly a work of art and passion. Even the video style, narration and editing are all wonderfully engaging. Hoping you do more interior/construction videos or even art projects, for instance, I absolutely *need* a video on that gorgeous canvas tapestry that you conjured out of nowhere and called a rug! Great stuff!
I don't know why this popped up on my feed but I'm so glad it did. You've turned an awkward space into one of the loveliest rooms I've seen. The finish on the shelves is perfect and all the curios and art work make it a wonderful sanctuary and cosy space to linger in. I would leave the upper shelf as it is, without the plaster frieze. Maybe make one or two pieces but leave room for a mix of other things. Very inspiring, I'd love to see more of your home
"Excuse me, where's the bathroom?" "Through the library" Oh I love this so much. You did such a beautiful job! I loved your original idea for above the shelving but I really like what you've done with it by putting all the interesting collections you have. Perhaps you can make a little book nook out of your original plan and put it on one of those shelves.
My parents loved books and when they bought their first home in 1971, they made the dining room into a library. It made the typical suburban home something unique and I always loved that room.
Your work is amazing. The barrel ceiling would be gorgeous. I don’t think anyone will be reading; your guests will only be swooning with delight in how beautiful and detailed your workmanship is. Dream on!!!
Yes!! I was waiting for a home interior video, and you did not disappoint! I love your cottage garden videos, but I would love to see more videos like this too!
Thanks it really depends on how much interest I see from you all. I thought nobody wanted to see it, so I even shelved most of this footage. This video is a test.
@@raulitageiger7643 Yes!!! Would love to see more of that too! It looks beautiful, and I’ve always wondered how to keep the corners from rolling up. (I also need to be able to clean all floor coverings.) Thank you for this extraordinary video!
I think your canvas cloth rug is one of the most beautiful things I've seen on UA-cam. Do you have more details about it? I'm so fascinated in how that was made, and how it holds up. Your home and building side of the channel is amazing!! I can't wait to see more. It's so refreshing to see someone building things more creatively than the usual "ikea hacks".
Yes actually "building!" The thing is, unless you or a family member who doesn't mind can do this, the cost for that build would be beyond most people's budgets.
I hope it met the expectations of those who showed interesting it. Let’s see if there is enough interest to warrant continuing it on a more regular basis.
This video did not disappoint. Everything you do is either warm, inviting, or romantic, and mostly all three. You put so much time, history, and love into your projects...and it shows. You definitely have a gift!
Your aesthetic sense is unique and beautiful. I love the room! If you were to add anything else I vote in favour of the barrel ceiling. Please do more videos about room makeovers.
As a rabid bibliophile with hundreds and hundreds of non fiction books, I was delighted when your UA-cam channel with Extreme Room Makeover - My closet is now a library!, popped up in my feed today. You are a kindred spirit in so many ways. Have spent time looking at your channel. Really liked your 9 GARDENING HACKS That Actually Work. In winter here in the California SIerra we cover all our fall/winter vegetables (rutabaga, turnip, parsnips, carrots, leeks, kale, spinach, cabbages) with three feet of straw, which acts to insulate and keep them from freezing, while allowing us to harvest. In fall when our heirloom tomatoes die back, we gently lay the plants over onto the soil and cover with straw and compost. Come spring they send up new growth, stronger plants. This saves us money and produces more heirloom tomato plants which we share with family, friends.
My goodness. Your skills are surprising and wonderful! I vote for the barrel ceiling and love the art work you have on the top shelf already. You strike me as a guy who might like to trade out what you feature up there, so having that spot for creative inspiration seems like a good idea. I’d like a better look into your bathroom and other rooms of your house! I’m not a gardener so the algorithm showed me this video and I’m glad for it!
Two things: the window at night is like a black negative, I think a red blind or woven tapestry like fabric in a Roman shade, would add warmth and be less jarring to the space. Two: I think that the curtains to the closet are fabulous because they create an air of mystery as to what they might be hiding. Your bookshelves are a masterpiece of elegance and thrift. The dictionary wallpaper adds just the right touch of whimsy. The selection and arrangement of the “bits and bobs”? C’est Magnifique!👏👏👏👏
When you talked about limiting construction waste, it made my heart smile. Three mornings a week I help remove trash at illegal dumpsites across my county, so much of it is discarded building materials! If only the average contractors were as considerate as you.. :) Your channel is a new source of inspiration that I am grateful to have found. Thank you for sharing all you do.
Your space is absolutely stunning and I will learn much from your creative mind and beautiful sense of symmetry. I’m thrilled to have stumbled onto your channel!
I’m really happy to hear that because I feel there is a lack of programs that show the design thinking behind renovations. I feel that helps people exercise design thinking.
I would absolutely love to see videos about the other spaces in your house, this room turned out very beautiful and I'm curious about what else you have done!
It’s essential for me to know that you all are interested in this series. That will determine if it makes sense to continue making new episodes. Thank you for the feedback.
I know I'm late to this, but...do the arched ceiling with moldings, that will be stunning. I love the idea of the library ruins frieze, but it will be pretty tricky to clean/dust, so just keep that in mind.
When I was young, growing up in my parents' house I remember always dreaming about how I wanted to make an old-fashioned library room in my own house one day. Yours is divine! I would encourage a curved or vaulted ceiling at some point in the future if you feel accomplished enough in your design skills to pull it off. Even though the room is small, It would be awesome! Even adding some painted frescos on the ceiling would make it exceptional - not necessarily trying do a miniature replica of a chapel, but to add a bookish, knowledge and learning atmosphere.
I completely agree on the frescos on the ceiling. The barreled ceiling seems to be the most popular item to add. May your imagination continue to guide you
A scholar and a gentleman, AND a jack of all trades! It's truly fascinating to watch your creations come to life! You have impeccable style and attention to detail! Keep up the great work!
Truly, he is such an interesting person! I can't wait to see more of his videos like this, and I'm sure they take an incredible amount of time and effort to create in addition to the actual projects themselves. It's awe-inspiring.
I am not a gardener because I live in a condo but I am very happy to have been suggested this video by UA-cam. I loved your library and the whole process. I look forward to more renovation videos.
Your versatility of talent is so impressive. You never cease to astonish… As an avid gardener myself, I love seeing how your cottage garden grows and evolves overtime, but I would also love to see more of the interior work you have undertaken in this beautiful old house. My apologies in advance for any ideas I may have to steal from you. No one else shares my same taste for old world places and things. And I appreciate the way you teach us how to create timeless spaces.
keep up with the videos. Craftmanship is disappearing. these videos are inspiring to the younger generation. Videos such as these have helped my grand daughter decide she would like a career in woodworking, restoration construction and design.
This video got recommended to me and I’m glad it did! I’m always looking for others who also have an interest in restoring old gems like this. I liked your explanation along with the behind the scenes of your process. I love the genius designs and care for detail in homes when it comes to past generations. I’m happy to see in recent years, an increase in buying old homes and restoring them to their former glory, instead of tearing down and renovating. I would love to see more videos like this one!!!
I was mildly disappointed it wasn't a gardening video but not for long, this was amazing! You definitely need to do the barrel ceiling. I prefer your bits and bobs to the frieze. I would definitely look forward to another house video. Your style is so unique.
Thank you for letting me know your feedback. I was a bit worried that the viewers would not like this departure but I’m seeing that people are engaged. I hope you like the new episodes to come including the gardening ones. My objective is to show design thinking, and explain it through the interiors, but not in any specific style. It can be applied to anything.
I'm glad you weren't disappointed for long. I'm not disappointed at all. I love beauty in all forms & his home is as lovely as his garden. As much as I love garden videos, when fall/winter rolls around, I'm ready for beautifying my home. To me a library can't be best. I'm a book lover & I can never have enough bookcases! Now, if he could add a fireplace...🤔 One if the things I love about older English homes. Fireplaces & libraries! 😍❤🔥📚😊 So more, please!
I love the barrel ceiling idea and think it ties the whole room together! I love how you finished it and just floored by its “dark academy aesthetic” transition!
I've never come across your channel before, but this was recommended to me and I'm so glad it was! I absolutely adored this video and the vibes of your library. It really reminds me of my favourite spaces in Oxford - not just the libraries, which were obviously gorgeous, but especially all the different studies of my history professors. They were always bursting with books and fascinating antiques and curiosities they'd collected over decades. The furniture was always slightly dilapidated but gorgeous, the colour palettes were usually warm and autumnal, and they were always like beautiful little jewel boxes, just intoxicatingly lovely. It was sometimes hard to focus on my tutorials because I'd get so distracted looking at the pretty things! Anyway, your library hits all the sweet spots and I love it. I think the barrel ceiling would be very cool. And you have a new subscriber:)
Your library reminds me of the cabinet of wonders in the novel “Wonderstruck”. Quirky and so fascinating! I think it will change organically over time with new treasures and books. What keeps me coming back to your channel is your ability to create and elevate using many found and repurposed pieces. In my home I take pride in using things that have been handed down to me because I love the sense of history and the stories each piece tells over time. Other pieces I have are from thrift shops, flea markets, and estate sales. These are my favorites!
This popped up on my feed for the first time, and I am very glad it did. I am a retired designer residing in Mays Chapel, MD I love your esthetic and your creativity. I am looking forward to learning more about you. Congratulations on your successes. Ms.S.
Amazing job! I love the final effect. Also your respect for the resources and not wasting stuff makes watching it hypnotizing. I hope to see more makeovers made by you.
Absolutely amazed! Your time, your delicate and well thought-out design have paid off in a way that I've not seen in a very long time. As well the design placement of each item has made the room classy. The DIY wallpaper done in a light watered down blue is not only so intelligent, but not seen anyone do before. I'll end by saying you're well read and you're careful and thoughtful writing in this video is calm, clear yet sounds of a man of of scholar education. Well done Watson!!
WHY ARE YOU SO GOOD AT EVERYTHING!!! What I love about your work is that you always have design in mind--I usually don't like other DIYs because they are purely functional. This is so beautiful.
Barrel ceiling for sure! Plaster columns would clutter it up too much. Your eye wants to focus solely on the awesome barrel ceiling which is not only an unique solution to the existing one but it'd be beautiful. Well done. I've liked, subscribed and shared this video.
Love the barrel ceiling idea! My mind went there immediately when I asked myself, "What would make that the coolest room ever?" And you made my jaw drop with the freeze design! I was in residential renovations/ remodels for 13 years specializing in projects like this and historic homes; in that time, I did 1 large-scale 4, barrel intersecting (cross-shaped) ceiling, which was one of my absolute favorite jobs. Challenging, yes, but there are many tricks that can simplify the build big time! Look at how skateboarders build a "mini ramp" and do the same thing but upside down. Plywood arches with 2x2 ribs and thin, flexible sheet material built in sections for manageable assembly. I do not recommend 1/4" drywall (which we used). It works, but it was a nightmare! Love the video and your design!
I'd love to see more interior design/transformation videos like this. I think the plaster broken library and barrel ceiling might make the room feel overwhelming. With the large collection of books and objects, I think the room has a good balance between large collection and not appearing too busy, but I think adding a big feature like that would be competing too much for people's attention.
Thanks! I am very happy with its current state. My mind is just a bit excessive at times. That being said I’m still partial to the barrel ceiling but it probably needed a bigger room to really work.
@@suburbanhomestead At first I wanted you to put up a barrel ceiling, but in the end I prefer the bits and bobs. It adds interest and draws the eye upward. Keep the barrel ceiling idea for a larger room in the future. As for the floor I really think a muted painted canvas floor is the way to go. Please seriously consider doing this. ( : I would love to see this in this room in the future. It would be a good move to prevent carpet dust mites that might aggravate your asthma. This is the first time I ever saw any of your videos. You are definitely a very creative person. I appreciate you taking us thru the step by step process in the creation of the library.
The barrel ceiling would be awesome. I would keep the old library plaster forms, finish them, and have an occasional one on a shelf here and there. Miniatures can be very fascinating and captivating. I am looking forward to see how everything develops. 😊
That was fun to watch. Transforming an unused space into a beautiful usable space is always a great idea. Would love to see more of these kinds of videos. Everyone has there own creative ideas and it's fun to see.
You have a peaceful, methodical style that is unique, refreshing, and masterful. I am so glad to have found your work and am especially glad you are in Maryland - not far from my zone in Delaware. Thank you for your work.
I would most definitely revisit the barrel ceiling idea later on when you have time. I think that would give so much more character to your home library. I absolutely loved this video!! You did an amazing job. Such inspirational work.
I think that is the most sensible way of tackling it. I probably have to first focus and everything else in the house, since it seems to be OK at this point as it is, but as you can gather, I am tempted to embark on a project with lots of intricate elements.
WOW This is the first video I've seen by you and I've never subscribed faster! You are beyond talented! You paint, you wood work, you dress amazingly! - what can't you do!! As soon as this video ends I'm off to check your others out
I’m happy to hear there’s new people finding the channel through this video welcome I hope you like the gardening videos, especially the vegetable history ones in the cottage garden series.
@@suburbanhomestead this is also the first video of yours I've come across and have subscribed hoping to see more interior and DIY videos. My recently purchased home is a redbrick terraced house built in 1901 (in Ireland) and I'm looking for inspo to enhance the existing period features.
Wait until you see his gardens if you're into that. His transformation is fabulous. He has built structures and his videos make your think you can do it, too. 😊
I would certainly like to see more videos like these on your channel. The times you show the inside of your house have illustrated how purposeful and creative you are inside, just as you are outside. I too have an older home (1920s) and work to create it a unique space. This video gave me a ton of new ideas for parts of my house.
Thank you for sharing your creative process with the world. There’s an underlying philosophy of intentionality and thoughtfulness that comes out in your work and projects. Without communicating it explicitly, you inspire an almost meditative approach to simple authentic living ; whether it be your gardening, cooking, decorating, painting, your style, and even your online shop The room itself is an ingenious prelude to that fern wonderland of a bathroom. Can’t wait till they find you on Architectural Digest…. If you decide not to use the collapsing books, maybe you could sell them as bookends or something similar for book lovers.. seems like a great room for inspired original conversations. Exploring the interior is a perfect compliment to gardening especially in these colder months. Amazing work!!!
You are a genius I had not thought about creating book ends with them. I’d have to see if they would be perhaps too heavy for shipping and fragile but it’s still a nice idea. I’m glad you pick up on some of the ethics of creating with a light footprint and intentionality I think the human spirit suffers if creativity is not seen as essential.
This is the first video of yours I've watched and it was fantastic. I'd love to see more! I'm guessing your whole house has these vibes, i.e. the bedroom sneak peak at 18:25. Wowed by that painted canvas rug you casually mention. Impressed by the design animations. Please make more room tours, DIY, and interior design videos! The frieze idea looks incredibly tedious to me, and the objects you're displaying now look cool as-is.
I loved seeing this video! Too many people go about making older homes, with all the character and flaws, into modern interiors, and you loss the sense of time to them. You’ve made that space fit the older portions by paying homage to the era it was built. Each of your videos really showcases your understanding to artistry. Gardening, decorating, building, painting, it is all about your vision of the world around you! So most certainly keep making videos about all of them!
Hello Siloe, my name is Lina. I discovered your channel last week while attempting to learn about gardening. I must say I adore your perspective toward sustainability and the general culture tidbits you include in your videos. I'm delighted to see the care you put into these videos has paid off and you have now 202K subscribers. You deserve to have at least 1M. In that wish, I've decided to support you, by not skipping the commercials, and by writing comments on ALL of your wonderful videos.
I live in a house of similar age so I love your design. I just started a library makeover to be ready for Christmas, now I will have to push a little harder as you have inspired me. Happy Holidays.
This is such a wonderful, clever transformation. I love that you emphasized and explained the vital importance of proportions. Regardless of the nuances of personal style, a space feels pleasing and harmonious with good proportions, and I think most people intuitively respond to that. My two cents on the back-burnered projects: as amazing as the frieze ideas is (what detail!!) , I wonder if it would be a bit top heavy in that space, but a barrel ceiling would seem to make the space visually soar upward (space for dreams 🙂).
I love this style of video! Please show more of your interior decorating, especially how you painted the rug in your entryway. That is so cool and I would love to learn how to make it.
This is the most creatively inspiring home decor video that I have seen in recent times....Kudos for the good hard work that you have put in....already looking forward to other decoration ideas inside your home; must mention that I have deeply fallen in love with the elegantly painted white and blue canvas rug in your entry way....would love to see that and other handicrafts made by you, for sure!!!
I vote revive both ideas!!! Absolutely. It could be too much if this was the bedroom/living room etc, but the library can be a getaway space where you dissolve and enter a new universe. I love it
Siloé, what a stunning video! Another subscriber recently mentioned a great idea of concentrating the interior design videos during the wintertime and then going back to the garden in the spring, summer, and fall! You can always give us sneak peeks of your home when you craft your gardening presentations. Watching your videos gives me the feeling of going over to a friend’s house for a visit, exploring their home and garden, and sampling a delicious meal with you.
I have plans to transform an unused bedroom into a library-apothecary. This is going in my diy save list for ideas. The best part for me was designing the bookcases with the added on edging. It really adds an extra flare you don't see in standard modules. I also liked your symmetry perspective, it really makes the room flow better.
Thank you I’m really happy to hear that my purpose with this video was to teach people design thinking so that they can organize their own spaces and I feel like you show appreciation for that . and yes, adding the right types of molding will definitely make a piece look higher and then it is maybe I can go further on to this topic in a future video what do you think?
homestead I've enjoyed your videos since you were in your old house. Following the transformation of your cottage garden has been inspiring and I have many saved for reference. To see your talents bloom on the interior of your home is also definitely worth watching. Far be it from me to offer advice on design, I enjoy watching others with creative minds and garner ideas along the way. You're doing a perfect job spreading your energy around the inside and out. Call it a phase 1. That's what I do. I have 7 airbnbs and a flower farm. You can't do everything !
I watched this one several times-I’m intrigued by the blue and white painted floor cloth-I’d love a video on how you treated the canvas to make it shiny and washable. Thank you-I love your videos!
This is a spectacular upgrade for an awkward space and shows how creativity and flexibility can make even weird, uncomfortable areas into art. The library/antique store/cabinet of curiosities aesthetic has my whole heart. Please show us a kitchen video someday?❤
You can’t just show a six second clip of a hand painted tapestry and not expect me to beg to see the whole thing! I have LOVed getting this inside glimpse at how to create a library that I thought was only possible in my dreams.
Well done, Sir! We are empty-nesters, so we want to do this very thing with a small bedroom. I went looking for inspiration and I certainly found it, with your amazing video. Thank you!
I love the woodworking techniques that you used to build the shelves. I especially loved how you cut the edges of some of the shelves to tie into the doorways-very beautiful. I love books but unfortunately I don't have someone as talented and skilled as you to build something like this for me. I would be happy to have shelves that didn't sag under the weight of my books. The barrel ceiling idea seems like it would really add to the feeling of this room. You are very talented and I thoroughly enjoyed this video--thank you!
I am seriously impressed with your work process and your ability to make changes when necessary. I love your barrel ceiling idea. Gobsmacked here! The details add so very much to the warmth of vibe. Wow!
The dome is a fabulous idea, if you pass the house down. The painted rug, yes for sure. You created a very useful and visually pleasing room. thanks for sharing.
This is the first video I've ever seen of yours and what a gift it is! Your eye for design and creativity is inspiring. I think a barrel ceiling with an art piece maybe like a mural on the ceiling would add a magical, cosy quality to the library, especially if you tie in the colours present like the denim blue, raspberry red hues with the cream. Really love this video and wish you all the best in your creative endeavours!
Absolutely in love with the interior design topic, and your attention to detail and eye for design is just a joy to watch no matter the subject matter. Thanks for creating!
I love love love what you did with that space. I have a similar room but it's a bit larger (8X10). It has one closet with 2 sliding doors but it would still work. The depth of the closet is very shallow so I could remove the doors and curtain off the bottom half and add shelves on the inside of the closet on the top half. The curtain on the bottom could be used to conceal seldom-used/seasonal objects. I could also do what you did with the lower shelf; and at 30" high, could turn that double closet into an office nook. The curtained space below would allow room for "knee space" while sitting there, especially if I used two panels that could be pushed to each side. I wanted so badly to place a kerosene lamp and/or a pair of brass candle holders onto one of your shelves, and maybe a lap throw on the arm of your rocker. 🙂 I have subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to enjoying your other videos. Wishing you much success in your endeavors. Keep up the fabulous work and thank you for sharing❣
I really liked how you explained the process for making an asymmetrical space feel more symmetrical. My old house has some odd additions. The kitchen, and three bathrooms are all short ceilings and small windows (which is so boxy in a Victorian!) but working to raise the curtain height, add more matching trim and fixture has helped
I've never seen this channel before. This video just showed up in my recommendations and I'm so glad I watched it. The library is gorgeous. Would love to see more home interior videos
While I loved the concept of the frieze, what you ended up doing with all the curated curiosities just suits the space so well. Personally, I adore what you’ve created here. Well done!! 🎉🎉🎉

The barrel ceiling is a fantastic idea!!! Would really feel like an old world library
Im glad you liked it. Most people would call me crazy as it would make the house less “marketable” since only grayge boxes are acceptable.

I can fully related to this comment! Found a new and intresting channel!
"Excuse me, where's the bathroom?"
"Through the library"
Oh I love this so much. You did such a beautiful job! I loved your original idea for above the shelving but I really like what you've done with it by putting all the interesting collections you have. Perhaps you can make a little book nook out of your original plan and put it on one of those shelves.
Glad you enjoyed. And yes, I book nook would be great. Another of your suggested bookings and I think that’s awesome as well.
My parents loved books and when they bought their first home in 1971, they made the dining room into a library. It made the typical suburban home something unique and I always loved that room.
Please keep doing interior videos, as well as the gardening ones. The library is so cleverly done-beautiful!
I think that room was originally intended as a dressing room. Your makeover is inspiring.
That makes sense, it looks like they were going for the master bedroom, walk in closet, suite bathroom trifecta
Your work is amazing. The barrel ceiling would be gorgeous. I don’t think anyone will be reading; your guests will only be swooning with delight in how beautiful and detailed your workmanship is. Dream on!!!
UA-cam finally did something right and recommended this video! What an amazing job! ❤
Yes!! I was waiting for a home interior video, and you did not disappoint! I love your cottage garden videos, but I would love to see more videos like this too!
Thanks it really depends on how much interest I see from you all. I thought nobody wanted to see it, so I even shelved most of this footage. This video is a test.
I would love to see a tutorial on how you made your canvas rug as well! It's stunning!
@@raulitageiger7643 yes, more on Canvas rugs. The quick glimpse was stunning!
@@raulitageiger7643 Yes!!! Would love to see more of that too! It looks beautiful, and I’ve always wondered how to keep the corners from rolling up. (I also need to be able to clean all floor coverings.) Thank you for this extraordinary video!
@@suburbanhomestead Your design videos are steps above anything else on youtube--production and actual value/beauty wise. Please keep making them!
I'm glad you listened to our comments and started this series. Looking forward to more, thanks!
Thank you so much and I hope it did feel like an early Christmas gift.
@@suburbanhomestead it did, however, the real gift is yours. It's your talent.
If you continue the bookcase across both closet doors, you could make a secret room!
Your aesthetic sense is unique and beautiful. I love the room! If you were to add anything else I vote in favour of the barrel ceiling. Please do more videos about room makeovers.
This is the absolute best D A video I've seen. It's truly worth watching and learning from.
Completely agree!
Fascinating. To take something ordinary and make it special is so much fun, and to work with what you have rather than ripping it apart - love it.
Omg! This combination of interior design and garden design/ plant info in such an aesthetic style is like a dream! Love it!
Thank you so much the feedback really helps me know which topics you are interested in.
A jack of all trades and a master of many!
👍👏👏👏💕
I do!!!
keep up with the videos.
@@suburbanhomestead wanted to add, one of the things I love about your videos is you show your thought processes & the changes you make to your plans.
“Low cost, low impact, high creativity” … adding this to my personal values
Ms.S.
I love the barrel ceiling idea
Maybe I should revive the idea?
I agree!! Great idea
@@suburbanhomestead if you CAN do it, yes! You will start a new trend.
Sheesh! What can I say? The library is stunning and your home is beautiful. You really are gifted.
Quaint and warm - you have created an En vogue space calling for intellectual activity.
Glad to see you commenting again! And I agree the space really welcomes stopping and reading.
I love your library and that you bring us along your process. Would love to see more like this
The barrel ceiling would be awesome.
Thanks for the feedback. It really helps me to know if I should continue this series.
You have a peaceful, methodical style that is unique, refreshing, and masterful. I am so glad to have found your work and am especially glad you are in Maryland - not far from my zone in Delaware. Thank you for your work.
Barrel ceiling for sure!
Mine too and I subscribed so fast!
More interior videos, please. Your creative style is inspiring.
Without communicating it explicitly, you inspire an almost meditative approach to simple authentic living ; whether it be your gardening, cooking, decorating, painting, your style, and even your online shop
The room itself is an ingenious prelude to that fern wonderland of a bathroom.
Strong interest in more interior videos here!!!!
Love the barrel ceiling idea and the aesthetic of the library. But my gawd as a tidy freak I would not want to dust here hahaha
Wow! Can’t wait to see the rest of your home. Amazing work ❤
Glad to hear that. If there is enough interest from you all I’ll definitely continue this series.
Yes,please!!
Do it, Siloe! It's soooo extra, but no one else in the world would have a library like that!
I live in a house of similar age so I love your design. I just started a library makeover to be ready for Christmas, now I will have to push a little harder as you have inspired me. Happy Holidays.
It will be quite a special room. I’m glad I was of help to inspire you further.
Our 1300 sf log cabin is challenging enough, trying to make the most of small spaces. Thank you for all that you do and share. Blessings to you and may you have a very Merry Christmas.
You're doing a perfect job spreading your energy around the inside and out. Call it a phase 1.
That's what I do. I have 7 airbnbs and a flower farm.
You can't do everything !
Revive your ideas! You are so creative! Go for it! This entire video is fantastic!
Thank you for giving me the liberty. Creativity is a fickle gift. Glad to see you commenting once more.
This looks awesome! You have an incredible eye for all sorts of art and design it seems :D
Thank you. My goal is to try to share some of the design thinking so everyone can make their spaces more practical and beautiful.
@@suburbanhomestead Very cool goal!
I have library envy!! And the glimpse into the room with the plants (the bath?) has my interest piqued for other areas as well! Beautifully done!
I’m glad to hear you enjoy this topic. It helps a lot to plan new episodes.
Would love more house interior content! Your home is gorgeous and I love your style of videos
While I loved the concept of the frieze, what you ended up doing with all the curated curiosities just suits the space so well. Personally, I adore what you’ve created here. Well done!! 🎉🎉🎉
