Thanks. Chris and I had a trip out last year just like this video... we got 6 kahawai... it was called "we break our record on fish" something like that. If you want to see a vid similar to this...go back and check out that one.
Canterbury diving is dodgy at best. The wind is almost always there by 11 am - good kahawai haul thanks to guest Wayne. Its a good woman who prepares the fish.
@tumon1000 yeah I reckon it was just a case on that day of waiting for the fish to get hungry. The kahawai are often swimming past the salmon farm at various intervals
Nice catch and haul there Jamie. Good to know you got that salmon farm as a bit of a back up when the diving and visibility is no good. Look forward to the co-lab the viz looks good in your preview.
Yeah that salmon farm is generally plan C. Goes like this... Plan A: Get out of the harbour into the clearer water, go spearfishing. If that doesn't work... Plan B: Stay in the harbour in the dirty water and dive for pauas, and if still too dirty or too rough... Plan C: Go to salmon farm and fish for Kahawai. When you see a video like this... you're not seeing plan A. It's plan C.
Can't beat the old humble kahawai. Raw, smoked, fried in butter. Bloody beauty!!! Looking forward to the next vid with Alfies outdoors. Cheers 🤙🏾
Yeah only downside is I caught a cold sleeping in the tent at the campground in Blenheim. Was a great experience though.
I like it. hoping for more videos like this. Thank you

@RichardJackRobertson yeah my wife is pretty awesome at helping with fish prep when I get home. She knows fishing is an all day comittment
Nice video. Sometimes it just takes a bit of time.
