It was heart stopping moment when the yft fought back.. hard to beat this one but looking forward to your next awesome adventure.. huge respect and congratulations bro
Crikey mate, if ever there was an endorsement for kayak fishing, that wasn’t it lol Great achievement to land a yellow fin tuna in a kayak but it seriously looked like the most awkward fishing experience I’d ever seen! From the lifejacket at the start, the rope coming off twice around the tail the fishing thrashing nearly tipping you out of the boat to sharks… holy heka How you never lost that fish is beyond me?I’m never buying a kayak ever…but a great watch mate, hats off to you and what you do. Awesome
And no doubt if you were to attempt capturing a 50kg yellowfin on a kayak it would be flawless 😂 I enjoy the challenge of targeting game fish on a kayak and all the difficulties that presents. Others, perhaps yourself, prefer a cushier fishing experience. Each to their own! Cheers.
Sorry mate I didn’t mean to offend, it was awesome to watch and a great achievement for sure. It just reinforced that I’d never do that, but always enjoy your adventures. Great stuff mate, always a great watch 😊 love the content you Ollie and Kerry post, my top 3 without a doubt!
Legitimately one of the craziest things ive ever seen. I yak fish on the west coast of aus and wouldnt even go out that far by myself let alone try and land a yt that big. Thats some serious bravery dude. Gave me multiple heart palpitations just watching it when you mentioned seeing a shark earlier. Well done. Im gonna sub but probably only watch on days im not going out fishing cause that was way too stressful.
Hapuka now this monsta yellow fin - well done Greg getting it onto the k and then to shore. Truly an epic effort. The tail wrap was out there with the strange catch efforts.
What an achievement, so happy for you after working so hard landing that fish. Only real fisherman will understand and not give up even of it took you 3 years! Well done. You should think of installing a small manual winch to help you load big fish
Awesome! I believe when you hooked up … he swam straight down and you also took 3 business days to grab the rod. So once he swam down the line went up against his body and tht wagging tail caught it
Well done. Good effort. It has to be said the current Yellowfin run is as good as what it was in the good old days 30 years ago. Now that you have ticked that box are you going to try for another ? May as well they are bloody everywhere upand down the coast at the moment . Maybe try from Matai bay.. A much shrorter distance to get out to the deeper water and distance back if you get one . Once again , congrats.
Thanks mate! It has certainly been a good run this year, and so early too. I'll probably move on to another species now - mahi mahi or shortbill would be nice. But I wouldn't complain with another YFT by-catch. I've launched from matai a fair bit, but only launched BoI due to the YFT Intel at that point in time. Cheers!
Greg!!! 🤯 if the paddle wasn't long enough and the fish wasn't big enough then the tail wrap and battle to get it on the kayak with your recent mako experience made for one of the best vids ever!! Stoked for you bro! 🐐🐐🐐
great work man! all that long hours on trolling on the kayak finally gave you the yellowfin u deserve! that pedal drive has gone through a lot of work haha first ur pb grouper now ur first yellowfin. whats next on the kayak? haha had my first taste of yf sashimi and i finally understood all the excitement
@@gpfishingadventures7834 i remember seeing this video where a kayak angler landed a mahimahi. he used a stealth kayak so he was able to store the fish inside but the fish was still kicking and somehow kicked itself out of the well. lol should have seen the look on the anglers face wen it escaped
ahaha I cracked up when she said that 😂 here in NZ we don't let a scrap go to waste. Whole fish go shared around fam and friends. Dunno about this freezing of fish she mentioned 😂
this whole storyline gave me way to much anxiety the foot in the water , the fish splashing , the time it took to get in , all alone out there . mate your crazy
@@gpfishingadventures7834fortunately it all went right and nothing that could have happened did. Holy! You're clearly a black belt , nice fish from the yack bro! Composed and very experienced! How come you didn't immediately sink a gaf into him? That lure not mouth secured gave me anxiety lev max. Nice fish bro wow
I wanted to get the fishes head up before whacking it with the gaff. Didn't really want to sink the gaff into the meat, but that became a necessity. Cheers!
Heck unreal the distance travelled to get to the zone catch the fish/fight to get the fish onboard and the return back to land all on camera!Well dude. Cheers and have a merry Christmas
Cheers brother. I go to the gym a few times a week, sometimes do spin classes. But the kayak pedalling is such a niche exercise. I think the best way to train for big missions is by doing more kayaking. I'm aerobically very unfit, in case you couldn't tell from the huffing and puffing in the video 😂
Congrats! Brother, you have amazing legs power for trolling that long on a kayak. What was your average speed trolling lures for the yellowfin? Such an amazing catch of a lifetime. Watching from the island of Guam.
Haha yeah that's the upper limit of how far I'll go on the kayak in a day though. I typically pedal 30-50km in a day. But for game fishing it's usually 50-80km range.
