@@waterbirds8972 Yes, there's a rod that fits in the dart hole that you need to remove, and a valve in the back of it that looks like a table with 3 legs that is pressed by the dart and opened that way. Beware tho, if firing without a good seal, without the valve the piston will slam into the barrel assembly as there is no pressure to slow it down. I reccomend putting one of those Ikea pads for furniture doors in place of the valve

Love this! I've been thinking about upgrading the new Mega Thunderhawk with an HPA mod and using a 3D printed clip for a Nerf shotgun. . These mods usually do really well on UA-cam.

We actually tested this when I was younger using 5cm thick treated steel pipes, it would shred the potato and we had to use harder root vegetables in order for them to stay intact.
Using i.e thinner steel pipes or plastic pipes is a really bad idea, it will blow up at the first attempt. Not to mention that hydrogen makes steel brittle (thus we had to coat the insides every time).
The canon did however fire the vegetables at supersonic speeds, much harder than a gunpowder canon can. A mixtured of oxygen and hydrogen is super dangerous and potent stuff. We generated the oxygen and hydrogen on-site using plastic bags in case of well, boom (also one of the two gasses is hard to store from what I remember, when they use it at rockets they at least transport the gas really quickly to the launch site in order to not lose much product).
Don't remember the exact figures for the price of the canon but those thick steel pipes weren't exactly the cheapest.
You should make a sniper rifle or cannon version , then it would be more practical to use hydrogen.
Or have it use liquid hydrogen and oxygen and fire gold bullets like a space shuttle.

I tried making a hydrogen powered cannon.... it is super hard to do. The water vapor (what is produced in the reaction) cools and condenses so quickly that it ends up sucking the projectile back into the barrel with extreme force (possibly breaking yo cannon) If you plan to build an HHO cannon, use a very large chamber and a very short barrel for best results. Hope this helps!

my intuition says use iodide salts and organic liquids such as amines, ethers, nitrates and glycols. look into viscous substances (one viscous two viscouss?)
you could use phosphine gas since it reacts to form phosphoric acid, which is a coagulant and might affect the kinetics of the condensation and stuff
look at the burn speed of different substances, you can create a cascade effect by making the detonation such that the shockwaves harmonically overlap, which might prevent this condensation or otherwise be interesting
the other road is understanding pressure dynamics and learning how to create huge pressure swings, essentially huge bellows, gears and valve systems that 'carry' explosive energy around mechanically. i think i'm describing the basics of gun design from a primitive standpoint ;p

Put the guard down against the work on that bladerunner. Its there specifically to stop what youre cutting from jumping all over the place. I have one and trust me it makes all the difference.

@@PeterSripol yep. I've had mine for a couple years and it gets a lot of use. There are times when the guard won't work with what you're cutting then just push down really hard and go slow.
Oh and get good quality blades (Bosch or equivelant) the ones it comes with are junk.

@@mhila2012 I did it 8 years ago to test it out on a car at a customers request (I couldn't convince them there is no free lunch....the power consumed to separate the hydrogen molecules is MORE than you get out of it from the hydrogen being ignited. That power coming from the alternator, driven by the gas motor means a net loss in efficiency). It's not that crazy.

Really cool concept! Although I feel like that kind of hack on a side arm like blaster is a bit of restriction. If you felt like retrying this, I would love to see you work it into a larger bolt action or pump nerf blaster more suited to be a primary.

with a compressed chamber and electric valve that will allow hho gas to be fuel injected release and fed into a BBQ jet.. should work a treat.. providing the right amount of gas can be regulated for output.

A couple suggestions :
Increase mechanical reliabilty/the smoothness of the barrel advance action, and reinforce the darts.
Use a light timing system, versus a simple button to arm the device.
Basically, on slide racking, the barrel advances, and a red light turns on as the system generates hydrogen. You could even add an audio cue to indicate this. While charging, the trigger is disabled. After a preset interval, the light turns green, hydrogen production halts, and the trigger is now live, so you can fire when ready.
Load all battery components into a case or molding to improve ergonomics.

this is amazing but what about metering the amount released in a third tank you can prefilled? vacuums probably would be tricky, but it would make it a lot safer and reliable even if you had to practically turn it into a carburetor shooting a dart instead of a piston 😅
I just find this really interesting because I've been looking into alternative air guns, and this could be a good solution to the problem of the scuba tank air shotguns!
try a prefilled chamber and a venturi valve? when you prime the shot a plunger draws in hydrogen at a specified amount, from a separate tank that you can charge/prefill with the HHO converter
a couple odd and end valves could even be responsible for the outward pressure and force of the burning hydrogen
and give you a blowback action!

Nitrogen wouldn't be a very good power source.
Nitro is nitrous oxide which acts as an oxidizer allowing fuel to burn faster, and isnot a fuel in and of itself.

Great video on the cannon build you should install a check valve between the bubbler and combustion chamber to increase pressure I kept seeing a flash in the bubbler so you was losing a lot of pressure.
because the explosion is so fast i think it would still go straight through the check valve

I'd love to see y'all make a higher powerd rifle form of this with a faster charge time and special 3D printed slugs for it (might be a cool idea to incorporate some impeller like design to stabilize it's self in flight . Effectively putting spin on the slug which would help maintain it's flight path for better constant shot grouping)
How do you get the elclectrodes not to rust. I have tried the hho generator many times and with diff salts and diff powersuppplies ranging from 9v battery to 22v 1.5 amps .
Always gets all rusty and produces a minimal amount of hho

You are using salt and steel? You are prob making iron oxide and producing mainly hydrogen and no oxygen (explains lack of bubbles).
Use stainless steel and sodium hydroxide. Even if you don't use stainless, sodium hydroxide will greatly reduce the rate of corrosion of your steel.
Also, the nominal voltage would be about 1.3v. Anything more is wasted energy. More amps are what you need. You might need to put more electrolyte in your solution to help the electricity flow thus increasing the amps. Also google what floater plates are.

Use a thin heatshrink on the darts and put like a ¾ blast shield around the tanks. A pressure gauge and/or timer would only help with the charging.

For your next video: fill soap bubbles with a mix of HHO (2.4x lighter than air) and air so they're just slightly buoyant, then fly an FPV RC plane through them in the air with a sparkler on its tail. To make it easier, use a steam cleaner to top them off, so they'll have a maximum height when the steam cools and condenses and the bubbles start to sink. You might need a bigger HHO generator for this (or just get a bottle of H2).
