A COROPLAST boat would have held up better but for serious effort you need perhaps foam and fiberglass or aircraft plywood with fiberglass bottom protection. The motor is impressive power wise but the prop is too big for full throttle you will burn out the ESC. You should do a redo on this boat project as the performance is excellent. Like your flying plane make a go at a real solid fast boat. Look up Cracker Box that style of boat will pop up on plane fast and yield good out of the gate performance with the given amount of thrust on tap. You will note the Cracker Box style is wider for more stable running always set up seating as low as possible with some padding for your butt as these types of boats will skip and hop across the water. Lets see some real effort here these outrunner motors put out some serious torque pick a lower KV if you plane on keeping the prop.
A two blade surface prop and a SAWS style mono will be faster. How far you want to take it... 30 mph for 20 min duration would be a good worthy trip to the pond. 😁

I sure hope that transmitter was waterproof...you should add on a couple of outriggers ..or sponsins to stabilize that thing ..which should give a better cg for bigger batteries..?

need a way to channel the flow of the water. perhaps build a box with a wide opening on one end and a narrow opening so the thrust is more concentrated

If I buy a manufactured product, I'd be happy. If I make the product, I'd be even happier.
For me, there's something more exciting about making something and it works decent, rather than buying something and it works perfect. Peter just keeps on fulfilling that feeling.
