@@MartyMusic You should have us all over for dinner and few brewskies 😝 Could you imagine!! They’d have to shut down the interstate and bring out the national guard!!!
Marty I have to say as a kid who started out when I was 13 and is now 20, you've been the best guitar teacher the entire time. I've been really struggling lately, as I never learned theory or anything like that, but these concept videos are really helping me progress and I thank you for all the years of awesome lessons!
Great lesson as always Marty!!! It was actually Elliot Randall who played that solo on the studio album . .. but Skunk was the soloist on tour. One of the best solos ever written IMHO.
Thanks so much Marty, this is exactly what I hoped for, terrific lesson, using one awesome song. You have a gift for teaching these theory & concepts type lessons. Even a dunce like me can grasp this stuff with the way you explain it. Guitar teacher of the year, hands down.
Great lesson Marty! I'm finally beginning to understand modes, and lessons like this go a long way towards cementing that knowledge and helping me use it in my own playing. Thanks!
Marty, you have posted many videos that are all great. However this one is your best. Suits my style coming from the theory side of things. Appreciate it very much cheers
Pure teaching genius. I could totally figure out the solo now. I always wanted to play this one, but kept putting it off because I thought it sounded super hard to play.
OMG...mind blown! ...seriously you don't even know what you just did...n I'm picking up what ur droppin...I really haven't thought to study modes been doing scales and blues ...but if this is the child of the mixolydian then yeah...such sweetness like honey.... Honestly Marty you are seriously doing Such a service to us beginner's to share of your knowledge to this "stuff" so so beautiful of you....good job Peace n Love to you and all those around you...keep up the good work....just beautiful man...now I gotta get to work thank you from bottom of my ❤️...
Thanks Marty! This was very helpful. So much better to understand the science of the song to help one grow as a musician and not just memorize what someone else does.
I am like officially a student of your course! Keep shredding!! I have notifications on all your latest vidz!! Really would be narl if your bring back all those old rock n roll blues and teach it your latest session, I'd be keen to play along and learn the chords, I always look forward to learning.
Love you man, love what you're doing, and you're giving me a whole ton to think about here. But you gotta know that this wasn't Baxter's solo. It was Elliot Randall.
Excellent as usual thanks, how about being a bit indulgent and, give us a rundown of your fav top 10 guitarists and, show us why! If you have already done this I can't find it ,apologies in advance. Once again thanks for the invaluable lessons, cheers, Russ.
I am a fan of a Major hexatonic scale (1-2-3-4-5-6) which will work over Ionian (Major) and Mixolydian, and a minor hexatonic (1-2-b3-4-5-b7) which will work over Dorian or Aeolian (Natural minor). I play pentatonic and then add the 6th note sparingly for color. Does anyone take this approach?
Hi Marty, I'm one of your loyal subscribers.......You mentioned that you thought that Skunk Baxter did the guitar solo on this one, but "for the record".......I believe that "Elliott Randall" was the original author of all of the guitar work (intro, solos etc.) of Reelin in the years.....not Skunk Baxter.........although, Skunk did a great job replicating it and did add a lot of the cool fills during the song in subsequent recordings and live performances.

Pure teaching genius. I could totally figure out the solo now. I always wanted to play this one, but kept putting it off because I thought it sounded super hard to play.

OMG! over my head. Loved listening to Marty rock it!
another awesome lesson,

Love you man, love what you're doing, and you're giving me a whole ton to think about here. But you gotta know that this wasn't Baxter's solo. It was Elliot Randall.
This reminds me of bluegrass in that you use the 6th minor penatonic scale centered on the root ....is that right sort of?? Thanks for the video.

Elliott Randall created this iconic solo. Not Jeff “skunk” Baxter, who is a great guitarist in his own right, but it’s ER’s solo. Jeez Marty.
