If we can securely do our banking via the internet, we can design a system to vote over the internet. We need an open source, fully auditable, and secure system that lets us vote from any internet browser.
You would think so, but it’s really not that simple. Cleo Abram made a really great video about the topic. Search her name on here and you should find it.
I totally agree with you. Because I live in Europe and I’m an overseas voter I always have to “Fax“ my ballot which I have for years and years however, this year my fax machine broke. However, again, no one else has a fax machine. Not the post office not local businesses and so I was forced then to give it to The Consulate near where I live and they put it in their diplomatic pouch however… It gets put into the US mail at the end of its journey and now I’m sitting here waiting on tender hooks to see if it’s going to be counted. I started this procedure a month ago. I’m really upset. When it was faxed, it was counted immediately upon receipt. So I think that scanning it and sending it that way, even if it’s in a PEC email would be a good thing . I hope they change their protocol soon. However, this is the most important election of our country’s history that’s happening in eight days.😅
Securely? You do realize multiple banks were hacked this year right? Online is never secure. It's convenient, it's fast but no it's not secure. I'm all for online voting but I also am aware it is not nor will it ever be truly secure.
I really wish pundits and analysts would stop talking about “Latino” voters as if they are a monolith that votes as a bloc. We are not and have our own divisions that blow crosswinds of their points along ancestral, racial and class lines.
I forgot the timestamp on when it was said (and don't wanna look it up) but someone said Kamala's closing argument is mainly good with moderate Republicans who think the status quo is good and working. Obviously that's a VERY stupid thing to think if you look at all the times our idiot congress has been close to shutting down the government but I think that's the point as to why the Harris campaign is running those ads. Siphoning off the Haley supporters with appeals like that are the reason for those ads. I don't know if it's smart since regular people care more about price gouging and housing affordability, but its certainly something. As far as abortion (as a man myself), it's kind of weird no one's focused on the men that have been negatively affected by women in their lives losing access to it. The men who lost women who've needlessly lost their lives from having a medical abortion delayed. The men who were forced to raise kids neither parent were ready for. The men who helped women have an abortion because their home state banned it. There's also the fact that sex education and contraceptive access expansion haven't even entered the conversation to any extent. The possibility and opportunity to focus there in an election where Trump is ahead among men by a fair amount. Seems like dropping the ball to an extent.
It's all fake bro stuff and disaffected young men looking for attention in Trump's mind. Locker room talk. That's not real life. Reality is that far more women than men will vote. Kamala will be fine. And she will be president for everyone.
Spot on. The single most frustrating thing about Trump is knowing that he correctly identified several serious problems in the US. He's blaming the wrong people and his solutions are terrible, but the Dems would be doing so much better if they would just admit he has a point and offer up other solutions to those problems.
Jamelle Bouie had a good point too saying that this rally was like a "C" or "D" list of Trump speakers and celebrities. People like Dr. Phil, Hilk Hogan and no politicians on stage who are fighting in competitive races (except Rick Scott).
Curtis Yarvin's most recent Substack talks about how any faction that wants actual change must go outside the system's norms to accomplish any change. Trump will be viewed as either a dictator or a failure. Yarvin thinks he will fail to change anything, I agree with him.
MIchelle Obama is NOT a politician. That is how she speaks so freely but it's not fair to stand her up next to politicians or someone running for the White House and say "Wow, Kamal never did this". There is a reason Michelle keeps reiterating that she is not a politician -- she is exercising the freedoms that she has because she is not a politician. Really I think this should be understood by the commentators and not misconstrued like this.
The intelligence at this table is questionable. Just the words and how you analyze Trump (FAVORED) and Harris (NOT) brings out so many questions. He got more votes just in NYC the "blue" home of MSG, than he got in Idaho, Nebraska, West Virginia, Montana or South Dakota. That one of the most famous entertainers in the world for a decade was able to fill MSG is NOT in any way surprising!
So far, an interesting discussion. RE: not projecting a vision of the future, this is where former President Trump started his campaign. I watched his original announcement and he had nothing new to say - it was a reminiscence of his term in office. If he does lose the election, it may be because of this (plus even his supporters' annoyance about his personal traits). I am not particularly impressed with Vice President Harris, but the question is: do we wish to "turn the page" (and get us baby boomers off the stage)?
I'm almost positive neither Trump or Harris offer anything new. My hope is they make as little change as possible in office. I don't really trust either.
The way all the previous Trump supporters who secretly vote for Kamala Harris, will feel next week, Is just like a football player joining a new team that wins the Super Bowl.
I am with Joe. If you vote for a pussy grabbing, racist, traitor who tried to overthrow the government, who lies as easily as he breaths, who is more interested in you lining his pockets than what he can do for you, whose sole accomplishment in his term was the tax break for the ultra wealthy to buy a second yacht, who appointed judges designed to overthrow Roe v Wade, who denigrated our veterans for their service, who deliberately separated children from their parents at the border, who will give Ukraine to Putin, who supports bombing Gaza and the Palestinians to dust without any plans to get the hostages out or plans for how that would make the Middle East in any way stable in the future, who pulled us from the Paris Climate accord, who still wants to overturn Obamacare but after 9 years still only has "concepts of a plan" of how to fix or replace it , you are morally, patriotically and / or intellectually garbage.
Pathetic, one-sided, conceited, self-righteous. The liberal coastal elites ironically are evidently the reason why MAGA is so strong and impactful to the rest.

@@POGGIOALSERE What state are you voting in? I voted in Delware from Canada, and I was able to email my ballot.
Anyone know what kind of microphones those are? Neumann's?
I really wish pundits and analysts would stop talking about “Latino” voters as if they are a monolith that votes as a bloc. We are not and have our own divisions that blow crosswinds of their points along ancestral, racial and class lines.
I enjoyed this conversation.
You're correct 💯!
That MSG rally was disgusting to the core and the fact that Trump is trying to divert the attention away makes it even worse.
NYT thinking 20,000 is a lot of people in NY which is a city of about 10million😂😂
uh huh same rationale that thinks a mass shooting every week in a country of 340 million is a lot.
I feel like these journalists sitting in NYC are so out of touch.
Spot on. The single most frustrating thing about Trump is knowing that he correctly identified several serious problems in the US.
He's blaming the wrong people and his solutions are terrible, but the Dems would be doing so much better if they would just admit he has a point and offer up other solutions to those problems.
Completely agree.
Yet, you couldn't name even one.

Maybe you should all be wearing Maga hats while trying to convince the audience you're NOT BIAS 🤣🤣. NYT Podcast ... well.. that was a waste of 32 minutes of this 69yo precious view time 🤦♀.

How does Harris winning prevent this? Given its a judiciary issue
WTF?? You guys live in New York - in 2020 DonOld got nearly 700,000 votes in NYC alone - more votes than he got in Alaska, Wyoming and North Dakota --- COMBINED.

2 issues rise to the top of legions of issues. One, women's reproductive healthcare is a Family issue, lifesaving care for women keeps families intact, men and children are not abandoned because of a pregnancy gone sideways. Two; Reagan read scripts generated by Heritage undermining government. He test drove it in California ( the damage he set in motion in CA still chugging along) Then he took it national his anti gov narrative, boosted with Gingrich's divisive narrative set the stage for Trumpism.

They're legacy/corporate media, whose credibility and trust has collapsed over the last couple decades. This is the dying gasp of out of touch coastal elites. They're being replaced by online personalities and journalists, and instead of adjusting accordingly they cling to the only thing they know.
