Shane B actually, if she has BPD, which it sounds like she does, I should know, I relate to how she feels completely, it’s not an “attention” thing, it’s legit feelings and thoughts. No one takes you seriously or believe what you say but it’s actually terrifying to have those urges in your brain. Especially if she, like me, dissociates when they get too angry. You lash out and can’t remember much from what happened. Murder often crosses the mind too and there’s a 50% chance she’ll actually do it. So no, it’s not just for attention. BPD and disorders like that can be seen as you being selfish and attention seeking, in reality it’s the inability to control emotions hence why it’s now called emotionally unstable personality disorder.

@@jasminehouston-burns1691 if a person writes in to Dr Phil he has people read his fan mail or requests for help. If they find someone they want to help then that process of just meeting them starts. You have a massive problem in your life you go to someone for help etc and while you are getting that help you look for second opinion, Dr Phil is your second opinion your last hope. I think everyone recognizes that Dr Phils help is expensive this may be something you want to think about, his help is not always the best.

I am not sure if she actually ‚wants‘ to do these things. This sounds a lot like obsessive/intrusive thoughts as a symptom of an underlying psychological condition. It is not a good approach to morally judge her for having these thoughts. They are actually forcing her to identify with these thoughts and come up with a reason why she is having them. Bad idea. It‘s more important to identify the underlying condition and try to address that.

Yes exactly what I thought watching this. Someone who was really genuinely relishing the thought of murdering people would know better than to come out confessing to these kinds of ideations, and they wouldn't perceive their own behaviour as something that needed to be stopped because the underlying morality just doesn't exist in those people. This girl clearly shows some kind of remorse and empathy, which as a baseline means she is more likely to be an obsessive compulsive than an actual potential murder. Either that, or she felt the real problems she is experiencing just aren't important enough and she had to embellish to be seen. It happens, it happened to me when I was younger. When I was 14 I pretended to hear voices because I thought it was the only way I'd get help, since no one took depression and anxiety seriously back then.

Anyone who's truly suffering wouldn't go to Dr Phil unless they were being forced to because we cannot speak like this about our problems on a national platform so casually.

Couldn’t disagree more with the way Dr Phil is handling this situation. In FACT jail is NOT filled with women who have the types of issues and feelings as this woman. Most people who suffer from constant, overwhelming thoughts of hurting people DONT actually hurt people. These people have a conscience and are so scared that their thoughts may become reality that they cut ties with everyone they love and live a lonely, singular life. I’m so sad at how Dr Phil has handled this situation. The message is not to get help and life can absolutely be better, instead he is going for shock value by vocalizing her thoughts over and over again and letting her know that other people are not going to be okay or accept her when she ‘comes clean’.

Based on this one clip, I do not know the pain she has experienced; however, she does appear to be very immature in her desire to just put this behavior behind her without engaging in intense counseling to learn to express her anger in a healthy manner. I do not think she’s mature enough to fully understand the very violent actions she’s been plotting and the finality of her family members. There may be a fascination with horror and gore movies (teenage slasher movies?) and TV shows like The Walking Dead that fill her head with ideas to carry out her anger.

I believe not many people realize it's not so much psychotic behavior as it is a symptom of depression and anxiety, which isn't frequently talked about enough. Anxiety includes intrusive thoughts (sometimes severe enough to be labeled OCD) which can be so paralyzing but the majority of sufferers never act on their urges because they know it's morally wrong and usually the 'victims' in their thoughts are their loved ones.

It's one thing to have a sick passing fantasy, but its another to keep entertaining them. Mood stabilizers/anti psychotics can stop these thoughts immediately and a variety of psychotherapies can help her express her anger in a healthy way - but now that that is out there, the family will most likely never truly know peace in their minds with their daughter. Most people do not act on these thoughts, regardless of their diagnosis. This is energy spewing out from the past when she didn't feel attended to/validated or was pushed around and bullied and looked to adults for help and got nothing; I experienced the same thing and it would result in these mood swings.
A good thing to learn agbout and understand is the Jungian Shadow -- teh concept is that human beings are neither good nor evil, they are both at the same time and must be capable of controlling both - we can all pick up a gun and pull the trigger at someone, the problem is not committing an evil act, the problem is that after you have you do not know how to deal with the fact that you saw your shadow self and it was evil when you thought you were good. Many soldiers with PTSD are helped through understanding this - it is not usually what tehy saw in war that makes them PTSD - it is what they did or had to do and how they justify that in their minds.

This is so wrong Dr. Phil. Emails from May, interviews in August stating that she has urges to even kill strangers and she's not on a 51/50 hold? Keeping her from professional help immediately is a violation of your professional oath. Showcasing a wannabe murderer on television for views makes you more sick than her clearly. Smh.

You can help yourself..you can control your mind, you have a consience to differentiate between the right and wrong,no one can control your mind but you can..no one can take away the negative thoughts that came in your mind,,but you can..Because you knew what your problem is..and you clearly know that your negativity thougt that come's in your mind is absolutely WRONG...You can solve it by controlling your mind, close your heart for negativity and try to be positive..dont give a chance to that evil thoughts, dont let the evil steps in your mind..do what that makes you happy,,dont give yourself a leisure time to think about that evil thoughts..and seek God to help,God help those who helps themselves..Be who you are..You are the captain of your life..

Sounds like she's been pushed around alot (whether by people or by the world in general in various, specific situations) and, without a suitable strategy to manage those experiences (which can render anyone hopelessly depressed, anxious and nihilistic), her shadow is coming out for revenge. It's good that she's self-aware enough to capture these fantasies because unfortunately some don't and go right ahead to act out such fantasies. Now it's about needing to integrate that shadow, probably through behavioural assertiveness training so she can begin to justify how powerful she can be, and to utilise that power for good. We're all very dangerous creatures to some level or another, and we have demons - so it's no wonder that most people try to avoid it by either attacking it or denying it via excuses such as "seeking attention", etc. but it doesn't solve those problems, just delays them and it'll only accumulate and get worse like an ongoingly full and rotting trashcan that's not been taken out for a long, long time. It's not something you can ignore and tuck under a carpet. We're less in control of our lives than we think, so we must acknowledge that and figure out how to solve these existential issues... or we pay a deadly price that, unless you're intentionally psychopathic, we'll all regret.

I feel like it's not likely she will actually hurt them, she's aware of the issue, wants help and seems pretty intelligent and rational. I'm not saying it's impossible for her to just snap one day (anyone could) but at least she is alnowledging her thoughts and urges and shows willingness to get help. Just because a thought arrives inside your head doesn't make it true or force you to act on those thoughts.

As a person who has wanted to kill their abusive parents and exited the situation, I'm not really sure what she's trying to do here. I knew then if I told anybody about my feelings I was going to be locked away. I still fantasize about their deaths, but you couldn't pay me to have any kind of interaction with them. I hate to say this, but I think she's just looking for attention. She definitely needs help, and she's in the right place, but I think she's going to end up realizing that this is a weird, internal narrative or mental fracture that she's using to cope.

I wonder a lot of the time whether or not these people actually get the psychiatric help they need after the show. Intrusive thoughts of hurting others or yourself is enough for a mandated reporter to literally MAKE you seek mental help. Like maybe this poor girl should spend some time inpatient away from her family or in an intensive outpatient program. Not put on the internet as entertainment.... idk please dont come at me and if anyone can explain how this show helps I genuinely wanna know.
