Once she gets past the addiction she will come around. If I can do it anybody can

My brother and I were children in this exact same situation, having an addict mother, no father in the picture, and being raised by our grandparents to keep us out of the foster care system while our mother was convinced they "stole us away" and said vile things about them. As someone who is now an adult and went through this, the healthiest thing for those kids is to stay with their grandparents and have no contact whatsoever with their mother until she has been clean and sober for at least 1-2 years. My heart goes out to those children and I hope they have the support and love they need. This is a hard situation for anyone to be in.

I just went through this with my daughter . She gave me no choices in this but to go to court and become a legal guardian. She places hate towards me for keeping her 4 girls away from the state . I am willing to admit to me being an absent parent for 3 years of her life but I will not be the blame for rescuing these girls from neglect , new men , drugs illicit and prescribed watching her be beaten by their father and eventually shot at . I had picked them up day before it happened... She still protects him over her girls and it is sick ....
It isn't as easy to take a child as she is putting on ... It tames months of no parent to even prove their in need of someone else . Give me 4 lives and no permission to do it.... Take action for the children....

EDIT: I know I wrote a novel but I felt compelled to share my thoughts :)
This is why I love Dr Phil so much. He offers his guests the perfect balance between tough love/realness and empathy/understanding.
Addicts (who have arrived at their personal rock bottom and are completely READY to try something new) have been persecuted, beaten down, ashamed, guilt ridden, depressed and living in chaos for so long that when they come to the point where they have had enough, want to make a change and have actually gotten the courage to ask a loved one for their support on the journey for recovery, they DO NOT need them to pile on more guilt, shame and show a lack of compassion or empathy.
As an addict in recovery I know all too well that we do all of those things AND THEN SOME to ourselves for years and years. The world needs so much more education on addiction, how it changes brain chemistry, the best ways loved ones can show their addicted person support and love without becoming an enabler. Addicts have been and continue to be persecuted for having a genetic (in most cases) brain disorder. Why do we treat diabetes and cancer but persecute an addicted person just because the disease they happen to have causes negative behavior issues?
It gives me so much hope when I see things like this. I appreciate Dr Phil’s approach when dealing with addicts and I appreciate even more how he evaluates and takes each and every case into consideration and offers help accordingly.
    Well done Dr Phil ✌🏻🖤

Yep, have sympathy for the person who chooses to put the drugs in them, but none for the victims or the people they hurt, beat, steal from, kill, belittle etc. always simp for the addict just because they’re an addict. sleeepy bae it is a choice to put it in you....the times after that aren’t as much, but the first time you do it, that is 100% a choice.
its abuse being an addict in the first place....because they use people, hurt people, steal from people, people close or people distant, it doesn’t matter as long as they get their next fix. Nothing does.....not kids, parents, siblings....family doesn’t matter to an addict....love doesn’t matter to an addict.
